Very nice location, off-street parking, pool was nice and the rates were better as it is a short walk to Old Town. Nothing super special about this Holiday Inn, but a solid choice. We had a king room with a great view of the harbor. The pool was pleasant and heated. We had problems getting onto the WiFi on the 9th floor. Weak signal.

We spent the night of May 17, 2016 and attended the luncheon the next day. Our room on the 8th floor was clean and well appointed; we had everything we needed. The luncheon on the 18th was organized by the Maine Women's Fund, for 750 people. The logistics of the luncheon service were impeccable -- appetizers and individually packaged desserts at our places when we were seated; salads served during a short break in the proceedings, with plates of sliced chicken for those wanting to add that to th... For the price, this property was a great stay! It's centrally located - only a short walk to Old Portland and to the waterfront. The customer service was great. Rooms were mediocre but we spent very little in our room anyways so it didn't really matter to us. They were clean and we had a nice view of the water front. Would certainly return!

My husband & I called around once we arrived & found this to be affordable. The hotel seemed to be away from the water, yet still close-by. It ended up working out better because their were more restaurants & shops by us, within walking distance. not only that, but the holiday inn offers a free shuttle until 1am! They give you a number to call & a driver will pick you up-FREE. Parking a car is only $10, while the other hotels are double. AAA membership is a great deal too. Our room was very cl... Read more

Situated in the heart of Portland, the hotel offers great views of the city and harbor from its comfortable rooms. I stayed in the hotel for a conference. The location was convenient for exploring the city and dining establishments. The hotel restaurant had surprising good food and friendly service; and provided a great place for me meet with my staff. I was glad the hotel provided parking a plus where city parking isn't easy to find on a busy day.

My boyfriend and I are IHG members so we almost always stay in Holiday inn wherever we travel. This one, by far, was the best one. Our first room was small for my group of 4, especially because we were spending 4 days so there was a lot of luggage. They quickly accommodated us. The shuttle service was the best I've experienced. The driver, Michael, was not only the friendliest person we met on vacation but was willing to go above and beyond to accommodate us. He gave us excellent recommendati... Read more

The front desk told us that no maintenance people were around and that our only choice was to move to another room. My husband is 81, and I'm in a wheelchair ! We packed up and had to move to another room which did not have a bay view, the reason that we chose that hotel ! In the morning we asked to move to a bay view which they did not have. Great location, courteous and prompt service, with good views of the bay from rooms on higher floors. The hotel would be really great with some renovations and updated fixtures in the rooms. Good hotel for social events and conferences with close proximity to Old Port. Free shuttle to airport and amtrak is a thoughtful touch. They also have large parking space at an additional charge and decent restaurant and bar. Overall a good value proposition for a relaxing weekend getaway.

I recently attended a conference here and stayed here for full week. I found the facility very friendly and well maintained in general. There were 3 notable exceptions however. First, the on-demand movie was snowy and basically not available for viewing. Second, while sufficiently comfortable, the mattresses were nit upper end like found today in most fine hotels. The most disturbing exception was how easily partying people could be heard through adjoining walls! Similar to mattress quality, thi... Read more

This is a good option if you want something clean without having to worry about extraordinary parking fees. When other nice hotels like Press or Regency were sold out, this holiday inn had rooms available. It is a bit further away from things, but not unmanageable. You just need to walk 1/2 mi or so. The hotel is good and the service as well, nothing to complain. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nice. And the bathroom (for me the bathroom reflect perfectly how the hotel is) is clean and well equipped (towels, soaps, even a hair dryer). If you go there just to sleep then fair enough it's perfect! But it hasn't a charming atmosphere or something like that.. It's a modern hotel, comfortable and well equipped. And you have a place to park the car. What else is needed?

When we arrived we found out that our room assigned to us had a city view and so we asked to be changed to a room with a bay view, which they happily accommodated us. So now because WE changed our room assignment our new room would not be ready for awhile. No problem th... Read more

Overall this place was ok. I didnt walk away from my stay thinking I want to stay here again.... Pros: Decent location to be near City center and semi ok location to be near downtown port area..... within a reasonable walk. They have a shuttle and the driver was awesome... make sure to tip him! He works hard. We had trouble getting it sometimes to get to the places we needed to go but overall we were able to obtain the shuttle 50% of our request for transport. We stayed portside on 9th floor. ... Read more

Stayed here During the recent hot spell and room was clean and cool. Bathroom a little small. Very nice workout room with saunas in dressing rooms and nice size indoor pool. Water was a little cooler than we expected but got Adjusted. A little further away from Old Port area but easily walkable but a little uphill on way back. Close to art district too. After a hot walk back to hotel we stopped in bar for a cool drink. Not many people in bar and I asked for a glass of ice water to start. 5 minu... Read more

Arrived at the Holiday Inn and noticed immediately that the furnishings were slightly dated. Hotel reception was adequate. Minimal amenities offered in reception (coffee and lemonade). Hotel corridors were really old-it was like walking in a scary movie. Rooms were actually pretty nicely furnished but we didn't get our request for a large queen bed honored. Bathroom amenities minimal and shower must have been designed for someone very short. Hotel located five minutes away from Portland attracti... Read more

We had a very poor experience at check in. We are Spire members, and are used to hotel staff not only welcoming us but also thanking us for our loyalty to IHG. John seemed bored with his job, did not listen to us, did not offer the welcome gift of points, and pretty much treated us as an imposition. We did talk to the manager, Stuart, later & he handled the situation very professionally. Other staff members were great. Our room was "tired" - needs updating. Stayed for one night in a room with a view of the bay (you need an even number room to have the view) The room was a reasonable size and clean. Comfy bed and sound proofing not too bad. Parking at the hotel is $10 per night which l understand is reasonable for the area. The bay is about a 10 mins walk away down hill. As well as coffee in the lobby there is also cold drinks which is a nice touch. The check in was not straightforward, well it should have been but we had a male member of staff who ... Read more

Would probably have not chosen this hotel had I not wanted to use my ihg points to book the room. It's not horrible, just a meh experience as the hotel was old with tired furnishings both in the common areas and in the rooms and the aircon units were super loud. It was also less central compared to some other chain hotels, though most places in central Portland could be reached by a 20-25 min walk. The hotel also provided a shuttle service that we did not avail ourselves too. The saving being sa... Read more

We spent one night. The overall experience was fine, the service very attentive, but the hotel needs to pay more attention to details. We booked a single room for 4. The beds were rather narrow in comparison to other hotels we booked in the same manner but the real issue is the fact that there was hardly any room to move around. Our booking included breakfast. The reason we do it is to save time in looking for a place. The breakfast in the hotel is "a la carte", so we needed to be seated, select... Read more

The Holiday Inn Portland ‚?? By the Bay towers above the alluring town like a spy station one might have found in Cold War Eastern Europe, its concrete hull reminiscent of 1960‚??s Soviet architecture.
