Once again Sloan the bartender gave us amazing service. She was fun and attentive and just an all around great server. I would recommend stopping in for a drink anytime your in the area. The food at the restaurant Was also delicious. The chefs name is Stoney and he prepares many fantastic plates including the lobster.

I've stayed at several hotels in Portland (on the occasions when the Hilton Garden Inn downtown is fully booked), but the Garden Inn on Commercial Street remains the best. Perfect location with views of Casco Bay, five minutes' walk to excellent restaurants (Duckfat, Hugo's, Fore Street), and next door to one of the East Coast's best bakeries (Standard Baking). The rooms are large and bright, and the beds are comfortable. But what brings me back, over and over again, is the exceptional service, ... Read more

Our experience was very satisfying.

The front desk is always the first impression of the hotel, and yikes... They need help. I finally decided to try the e-check in and I got to the hotel about 15 minutes earlier than the standard check in time. The first agent told me I'm too early check in is at 4... Ok that's fine I get it, but to my surprise he didn't even offer to see if I wanted to change rooms so I can get into a ready room. To be fair I decided to wait 30 minutes past 4pm. We were there on a Fri night in June. The location is spectacular, right on Commercial St across from the ferry landing, and near many restaurants and tour stops. The room was large, clean, and well appointed. It had a microwave and a refrigerator. The price was reasonable compared to other Portland hotels. The parking was free and concierge. The staff was outstanding. The concierge was really very good, providing information, maps, and booking a tour for us. Highly recommended.

Portland, Maine, has a number of hotels, both vintage and brand new. While the Downtwon Hilton Garden Inn is not among the newest, it is well-kept. New down pillows and linens compete well with fancier hotels. The staff is amazing: friendly, helpful, and efficient. It is easy to recommend this hotel: good views of the harbor, close to local attractions (including a great lobster roll across the street at Gilberts), great service, nice pool, and the price is competitive.

This hotel is all about location. It's right on Commercial St across from the ferry landing. It's right next to Fore St, one of the best restaurants in the city. And Portland has so many good restaurants within walking distance of this hotel that you simply do not need your car for a long weekend of gastronomical adventure. Otherwise, this is a typical Hilton Garden Inn - a upscale, mod-priced chain hotel.

The location is top notch right down on the harbor and in easy walking distance of great restaurants and shopping. This is a lovely hotel, immaculately clean and well-maintained, and in a great location at the eastern edge of the Old Port district, across from the ferry landing - but our favorite thing about it was the genuinely friendly and helpful attitude of all the employees - front desk, bar, shuttle - everyone was super nice.

Although it did not start well it did finish up well for Hilton. Wife and I were driving in on Sunday and I called the hotel around 1PM saying I'd be in by 2-230 and the check in time here is 4. If they had said that I could not check in we would have made some stops and taken our time but they said come on in to check in.
