Rooms quiet and neat, bed comfortable, towels soft. Considering proximity to the airport and highways, the room was exceptionally quiet. Only problems were difficulty finding my way in and out of the hotel, and heavy traffic. Parking lots need to be easier for pedestrians to navigate.

We arrived at the Hilton later than expected because of the bad weather. Not being in the best of moods...tired, hungry, and road worn, we were greeted warmly by the staff and enjoyed getting to our room. Very comfortable and lovely décor with all the amenities provided. The net morning they were offering a breakfast that included just about anything one would want for breakfast/brunch. So I'm an HHonors Gold Member, so I was offered an upgrade to an executive floor. Awesome! The staff was friendly, and the cookies were delicious...is it bad I wanted 2-3 more? Bed was comfy enough...only issue I would think is the outdated AC units being blocked by furniture...however thats being nit picky!

Overall stay was wonderful! The staff was very helpful and room was clean. We ate dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and had seafood. They placed haddock, scallops, and shrimp in a baking dish, topped it with bread crumbs, and placed it in the oven. (At least that is how it was presented and tasted like) This was a $20 dish. The restaurant for dinner was not the best choice.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. After a bad nights sleep at another hotel the night before checking in, all I wanted to do was get to the room and sleep. I was nervous about hallway noise when we got off the elevator and our room was right there. We couldn't hear much once in the room. I got a great afternoon nap in right away. Room was clean and comfortable. I had mentioned upon check-in that our anniversary was the next day. To our surprise, we returned the next night to a card... Read more

The Doubletree in Portland Maine was very comfortable. I wasn't quite sure what to expect after reading good/bad reviews. But it turned out to be a great hotel. I'm a Hilton Gold Honors member and when We went to select a room on the app it gave us only for double bed standard room to pick from. I didn't book a double bed. This is one of those large, chain hotels that could be located in any city in America. It is close to the airport and all the chain eateries and mall stores. It isn't anything special, but the price was fair, and the room was clean and comfortable. We'd hoped for a king or queen bed, but ended up with two doubles for our Priceline room. The dining options nearby were pretty dismal, but we had a car and found options nearby. If we'd been without wheels we would have used the hotel free shuttle ... Read more

Great hotel, the bar/restaurant was great. Staff was very helpful. You were right across from the mall, 10 minutes from downtown, and close the Portland Headlight. Great place to stay. Went during the Old Port festival which was a blast! Take a taxi from the hotel, don't try to find parking during the festival. They have a taxi service that offers a flat fair rate from the hotel of $15 per trip, not per person.

Shut out my room and had to sleep in my car. My 16 year old son fell asleep and put the dead bolt on the door. The hotel could not open the door. Didn't offer another room or a way to get in. This could be an emergency situation. Thought it was handled poorly.

We recently stayed at this Doubletree for five nights. Staff were - without exception- courteous and friendly and offered us the use of a mini fridge during our visit. Requests for extra hangers, etc. were immediately fulfilled. We did hear road noise from the turnpike that sometimes made sleeping a challenge. Our room was clean and well appointed. We enjoyed the fresh offerings at the HH lounge but my husband did not care for the coffee. We would return.

I love dogs and all animals. It's such a shame that I have such an allergy to owning one myself. When we entered the room it had a horrible smell of wet and dirty dog. I understand not wanting to board your pet and want to take them along I would too, hotels that allow pets need to be better about odor. I also think hotels should double check for dog poop on the floor. Not real sure if this was poop I flushed it before I got completely grossed out. See picture below. It was behind the large... I remember staying here in the 1970's as a child and being awestruck by the round building. Then in the 1990's we brought our kids here and they too loved the novelty of staying in a round hotel with pie shaped hotel rooms. Now we get to introduce our grandson to the coolness of round architecture and wedge shaped rooms. This was a pretty swanky place in the 70's but today it's a lot like me - getting long in the tooth and not not as much fun as it used to be. As other reviews have said, I sim... Read more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a quick trip while driving up to Northern Maine. We did NOT want to leave. We were travelling with our dog (a lab), which isn't always easy. Normally we are stuck in the worst room, in a basement, and charged a fee. This was the opposite experience I had at Double Tree in South Portland Maine. They greeted myself, my husband and my dog personally. We were given cookies, the dog his own treat. Everyone was so lovely to us. The service was exceptional... Read more

Good Service and hotel was in a great location. My room was musty and didn't smell good. It appears after visiting other members in their hotel room, it was not an overall issue, could have been an isolated room issue.

One night on our way out of town. Convenient to I-95 and Maine Mall. Nothing spectacular about it, and it shows some wear and tear. We had just joined the Hilton Honors program so had a room on the 8th floor. No complaints about how the hotel is run, but design could be better. Fan and bathroom light on one switch so you had a choice of not being able to hear or not being able to see. Ours was across the hall from the ice machine but otherwise very quiet. Clean enough. Nice big king bed ... Read more

the Hotel was not the best place to stay at. the shuttle service was not available to all guests, they overcharge their guests of 200 hundred dollars for amenities for guests would or wouldn't use. and the restaurant was expansive.

Just go somewhere else, this place will scare you. You will find a very dated hotel with small rooms, a nice staff, however the beds are old and the bathrooms are very tight. It's not near the waterfront, but rather an airport hotel. If you want to go out to eat, you will have to travel a long way.

The room was comfortable and had room to move around even though we had a cot in it. the beds were nice even the cot was comfy! Hotel is a little dated but still nice. Breakfast buffet was good... waitstaff needs to be trained they were bad! It took 15 mins for us to get coffee we were almost done eating by that point!

I was ahead of schedule by a day and really wanted to get home. I pulled up TripAdvisor and found a Doubletree by Hilton at the Portland Maine International Jetway. Being very tired I called Hilton to book. Yes lost points but to bad. I checked in and went to clean up and eat, to tired to leave the hotel. As always the cookie was great, the room was fantastic. Yes this is old, but they made some very nice appointments to the bathroom and the room. Bar food was nothing to write home about,... Read more

The location of this hotel is a handy 10 minute drive into town with free parking but that's about it. The hotel is next to a building site (I mean literally next to!). We asked to move rooms after a terrible night's sleep and were reluctantly moved to a quieter room. The rooms and the hotel itself need some serious updating, they obviously rely on their location (close to the airport) for custom. Would not recommend.

A short courtesy shuttle ride from Portland International Jetport, this property's South Portland setting is more about business than nature, showing guests the Mane Mall (across the street), main highways and roadways, or new property development with woodsy hills in the background. Convenience is key for me, so the surroundings didn't disappoint. Also, the hotel's shuttle is available for short errands within two-miles of the place. We stayed here prior to flying out on an extended vacation. We hadn't planned to leave our car there, but they offered....and even were gracious enough to give us an extra day or two beyond their usual....when we flew back in, the friendly shuttle driver and desk clerk greeted us warmly, asked about our trip, had saved us cookies; the bar was getting ready to close but gave us our complimentary drink....the room was nice enough, but the folks who work there are exceptional!

This hotel consists of two round towers of I believe 8 or 9 stories. The top two floors are HHonors floors, but despite our Gold Status, we were given a room on the 6th floor. No big deal although there was no fridge or microwave in the room. Checking in was fast and easy, with the hotel people being friendly and businesslike. The famous cookies were delicious. Rooms are spacious and clean. The bar/restaurant is a nice touch also. The check-in staff was friendly and professional, although we had HH status and did not realize that they placed us in the "old tower."
