This past summer, my wife & I stayed at this beautiful Holiday Inn. Our room and stay was very pleasant, and had a great ocean view. The majority of the property is open air, so you really get to hear the waves, feel the ocean breezes, and enjoy the amazing location. Our visit was a very memorable experience that we will always carry with us. The staff was extremely gracious to us. We can??t wait to return for future vacations in Bar Harbor.

I think this hotel is one of the best hotel in Bar Harbor, ME. The rate is reasonable, the restaurants are great and the greatest thing about staying in this hotel is the swimming pool which has the beautiful view of the ocean. The wifi in the room did not work, but I will still consider to stay here again if I return to Bar Harbor!

This hotel was clean and the service was great. This was not our original choice, but the day we arrived at the hotel we booked, it was closing for the season and could not accommodate our full stay. They arranged for us to stay at the Holiday Inn. Although we were not in the main building, the short walk for breakfast was enjoyable. They even accommodated our original hotel booking which included daily breakfasts for both of us. The view of the bay was phenomenal. Service was impeccable. ... Read more

This hotel is in a great location along Eden Ave. The pool and hot tub overlook French Man's Bay. The rooms are average, at best. The location provides easy access to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor. At low tide, you can climb on the rocks behind the hotel.

I'm late posting this. But I'd say an our stay here was OK. The building that we stayed in was weatherbeaten and the rooms were dated and needed updated. The part we enjoyed the most was The restaurant, and the food was consistently good and the staff was consistently friendly and attentive. The front desk was also friendly and helpful. Place was busy and there were a number of tour buses in town at this hotel. But overall we will go back here again. Most likely the end of this year.

Nice grounds, close to Acadia, and some update public areas. The bathroom in our room had been recently renovated, and the carpet was fine. Room size was fine and the balcony has two chairs and a small table. View of the water is pleasant, but probably not worth the extra $$. FYI, there is no beach, but there is a small pier you can walk on. So an average room for a high price. Be sure to shop around since this location is not "special" enough to compel you to stay here. But it's fine if ... Read more

We knew were spending a bit more than we like for a night's stay, so we wanted to take advantage of the amenities. We spent time on the dock by the ocean, the lawn chairs by the pool, and ate dinner in La Bella Vita. Everything was clean and comfortable as far as the room goes, even a balcony that we could climb out onto. The best people we met were the servers in the restaurant, dinner and breakfast in the morning. We had planned on taking a boat tour which was half a block down, perfect st... Read more

Had mixed feelings booking based on previous reviews. The hotel common areas appear recently renovated. Furniture in the rooms can be a little beat-up looking. View from an ocean view room was nice, but since the building is only 4 stories most rooms overlook an unfinished roof, and if you are in the center of the main building you can hear the AC units fairly loudly from your balcony. Service in the restaurant was great, the food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable, especially for... Read more

It was very cold though warmed up when the heater was turned on (was not the case at other places on this trip). It was chilly in Bar Harbor so we didn't get to explore the hotel grounds much though it seemed to be a nice setting on the water. Very odd- it's not really a Holiday Inn- Eden House, or some such, across the parking lot. Dirty Windows, and no screen, the view is the trees or parking lot. The little fridge is sadly white and just sits there, by the tv, the size of a small box. It's a mile or so from town, and the road is narrow, and busy, without room for bikes- no biking to town. Skip it. This town is full of inns or b&bs, not many national chains, and those at the lower end. Look for the small, one off placed. Keep ... Read more

My wife and I reserve a couple nights in an advertised oceanfront room on the property, it was a decent room, but it directly faced a restaurant on the premises with open windows so you didn't feel like you had a lot of privacy. And it wasn't a direct ocean view as advertised it was sort of a diagonal oceanview, you get a better view of the people eating in the restaurant who also have a good view of you. Our first floor, ocean-view room did not pack the punch we hoped a Holiday Inn would offer, but it served our needs for our stay. This property seems to want to compete with the finer inns of Mount Desert Island, but it misses the target by forgetting the details. The view is second to none, but the rest falls short. First, the room - average size and averagely decorated. However, the AC unit was obviously installed about 30 years ago - it was loud and very antiquated. The place needs major renovations. It's also away from the main center of town. Not worth the asking price for their rooms compared to better hotels in the main area. Not worth the amount they charge for the room. Convenient location to downtown and entrance to Park Loop Road, but way overpriced. Our room was supposed to be guaranteed to be ready by 4pm and it wasn't. I'm not picky, but if someone is driving to get to a hotel and the room is not ready when it's supposed to be you'll get some cranky patrons. The room was a good size, the bed was ok, the ac kept shutting off, the fridge was on the floor like someone stole the furniture it was supposed to be on.... Read more

My family & I had booked a 2 night stay here in July 2016 with our total stay being less than $500, however the staff did not inform us at check in before they attempted to charge our account that they would be placing a $1500 hold on our credit card for any additional charges that may incur. We decided not to stay here, which was a shame, because the resort is beautiful, but the staff seemed disorganized.

We decided to get a room with an ocean view, and I'm glad we paid a little extra for the view. The room was equipped with a balcony containing two chairs and a small table. My husband and I drank our coffee overlooking the ocean and beautiful landscaping every morning during our stay. The room was clean and the bedding/bed was comfortable. This was our second stay here and parking is mostly under many large trees, including pine trees. Came out in the morning to find our car windshield and hood just covered with tree sap that had fallen and dried overnight. I brought it up to the manager who was very dismissive and offered to have a staff rub it with a rag with water on it. This of course would have done nothing at all and I ended up having to drive to Ellsworth for car wash. The car wash manager said it was the worst case of... Read more

My wife and I spent 3 nights here and overall were a little disappointed. First) The hotel location and grounds are AMAZING! It is right on the ocean, beautiful walk-ways, flowers, a pier, outdoor picnic areas by the water. Really incredible, better than our honeymoon resort. Second) The hotel itself is really in need of an update, it is just old looking and feels run down. The grounds feel like you are staying in a $500/night hotel and the hotel feels like it should have cost about $49.

The stay was very disappointing, given the fact the room was not cheap and I would have expected more from a national chain. Our heating system was covered in mold; the air was so full of mold spores that one would not have dared turn on the heat, as the mold spores would have become even more airborne.
