The river front streetcar is less than four blocks from the Lamothe House and provides convenient and fun transportation to the Convention Center as well as the Aquarium of the Americas, Harrah's Casino and the Riverwalk Shopping Mall.

There is also an adjacent building which was recently renovated that provides additional luxurious accommodations. Some accommodations face the inner courtyard, overlooking the goldfish pond, and there are even a few adjoining rooms for visitors traveling together. KELLEE MCEVOY from PICAYUNE, ms had this to say:
"My husband and I are newlyweds and go to haunted hotels and bed and breakfasts as a hobby. We use video, film, audio record, EVP and a k-2 meter. The Lamothe house is my favorite one so far. The staff went out of their way to make everything run smooth for us. From the moment we arrived we had opposition, but the staff fixed it all, and we all know why. We will be returning in a few weeks. I don`t think I can stay away. I`ve got awesome pictures you guys! So much action going on we didn`t even get a chance to take a shower! See you really soon…"

Mort from Mount Hermon, LA had this to say:
"We stayed in the rear building behind the pool, room was OK but no fridge or table, TV was 19' and bed was a full not a queen. Our traveling companions' room next door had no fridge, chairs or table. Air conditioning was great and much appreciated in August heat. The place is a little worn (floors slant, could use some paint, furniture is antique but not necessarily in good shape, etc) but being built in 1800's is to be expected and will be experienced in many of the boutique hotels around the Quarter. Shower was petty week and temperature is hard to control. I enjoyed the pool area, other guests were more friendly that at big name places we have stayed at in New Orleans. The location is nice, we prefer this end of the quarter to the Canal St. end, more locals and decent places to eat within a few blocks and close to the French Market. $10 cab ride to get to Bourbon & St. Peter, which is kinda the heart of the Quarter. Would recommend if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing place to hang out at the edge of the Quarter. Probably won't return as we like to try a different hotel every trip but it was an OK place to stay."

kvecch from magnolia, tx had this to say:
"Loved staying here. Unfortunately we didn't get to stay in the main house, but did have a nice large room. The house is furnished in antiques and is quite charming. The other rooms are to the back of the property and are very quiet. The property has a pool and jacuzzi which were wonderful to relax in after a night out. Breakfast was served in the large dining room - serve yourself - but very nice. Fresh pastries and donuts, juice, coffee and tea. Check in was a breeze. Free parking was a great bonus, especially so close to the French Quarter. Easy and safe walk to the Quarter. Would stay again."

Billy from Jacksonville, Alabama had this to say:
"Great location! We could walk to anywhere we wanted to go, and did not have to drive the entire trip. Very friendly staff. The free parking was a definite bonus. My only complaints are that the bed was supposed to be a queen, but was much narrower than my queen bed at home, and the amenities on this site list a 25 inch or larger television and a refrigerator, but we had a 19 inch TV and no fridge. I don't know if the latter two are just a mix-up with this website or what, but being able to keep cold drinks in the 100 degree weather would have been a definite bonus. Other than that, great hotel and a great trip. "

"I stayed at The Lamothe House this past weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. I went by myself for a little vacation just to relax and this was the perfect place to do that. Between the friendly staff, the gorgeous pool area and the amazing room ... you couldn't help but relax. I enjoyed the hotel so much that I caught myself ordering food to go so that I could take it back to my room to eat. If you want a relaxing vacation in the heart of New Orleans this is place for you. Park your car when you check-in and you wont need it again until you check-out"

Lorraine DeNardis from Austin, TX had this to say:
"I enjoyed my stay at the Lamothe House, and it is an authentic French Quarter experience. Staying in this house is like going back in time. That being said, the French Quarter is thriving, and it only experienced minor damage from the hurricanes, which has all been fixed up. I was very surprised walking around. The buildings are all so old, but everything inside is new! Esplande street is beautiful. On a Monday night Bourbon Street was crowded. The economy is weak, but the prices in New Orleans are great, so I guess everyone is heading out there. Good music, good food, fine art, history, swamps with alligators, and animated tour guides. There is something for everyone. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and they gave great advice. "

Sharon Atkinson from Loveland, CO had this to say:
"You almost feel like a native New Orleanian when you stay here and I miss it! We so enjoyed the staff, especially Rita, and their great recommendations for food and music truly enhanced our visit. The place is funky, so don't expect perfection, but the individual rooms are clean and the courtyard area is just charming."

Richard from Somersworth, NH had this to say:
"More like a B&B than a hotel, a stay here combines the best of both. The easy going atmosphere keeps one in a New Orleans mood while the staff effeciently takes care of your needs. Thanks for an enjoyable visit."

Cristina Magana from Temecula, CA had this to say:
"GREATEST overall value! This restored House turned hotel keeps its history with its old paintings, thick drapes, beautiful crystal chandeliers, high ceilings, original molding and old vintage furniture (everything I was looking for). Our room was upgraded and included a large chandelier, huge bathroom and Jacuzzi tub! Staff was very helpful and friendly. The place was very quiet and has its own parking lot that can get a little crowded. get your spot early! Hotel also has cameras EVERYWHERE with someone watching 24/7; this made us feel very safe. Had an amazing time will without a doubt return!"

P James from Garland, Tx had this to say:
"Was disappointed in staff friendliness upon arrival. Our room was in back house across the street. Therefore, I think staff the should be more helpful when someone new arrives. Maybe a map or escort. We booked a suite. I would have appreciated more offerings in the room, possible microwave and fridge with wifi. No continental breakfast available at 10 one day and 9 the next. I heard other guests complaining about same situation. We appreciated the parking being available. It was a nice place but, there are a lot of nice places in New Orleans."

Michael Pack from Pensacola, fl had this to say:
"While this hotel is excellently located just outside the French quarter and within easy walking distance to that area, it is fair at best. We rented a one bedroom suite that is located across the street in a home that they operate. Upon arrival the lights were burned out in all of the lamps except the overhead chandelier. I immediately contacted staff, and did the same again the next day, and they did nothing prior to our leaving after 3 days. The continental breakfast was available, if you woke up prior to 9am, because once what they had initially put out was gone, it was gone. Parking is free and the lot is locked at night, which is nice, but dont move your car as the cleaning staff quickly takes up all of the spaces when they arrive in the morning. A hot tub was located in our bathroom, but it did not work, and since I could not even get new light bulbs to see, getting the tub fixed was impossible. I am not implying that this is a dump, because it is not, but you definately get what you pay for. So if you are getting a good cut rate, expect a fair hotel in a nice area of town. "

Roger B from Crystal Lake, IL had this to say:
"Europe in New Orleans. The location could not be better. This B&B was a quaint hotel located in a quiet setting just a block from the french market and french quarter. The quiet courtyard with pool was a perfect setting for relaxing and reading a good book. Don't expect a luxury 5 star hotel, the key words for this property is location and atmosphere. I will be back!"

KELLIE MCREYNOLDS from HOUSTON, TEXAS had this to say:
"THE LAMOTHE HOUSE IS A WONDERFUL HOTEL AND A TRULY GREAT FIND. THE STAFF ARE A TRULY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL GROUP OF PEOPLE. IT IS CLOSE TO EVERYTHING SO WE ARE ABLE TO WALK EVERY WHERE WE WANT TO GO. THE HOTEL IS REALLY PRETTY WITH NICE COLORS AND FURNITURE IN THE ROOMS WITH HIGH CEILINGS AND TALL DOORS. IT TAKES YOU BACK TO AN ERA LONG PAST. WE WERE THERE DECEMBER 27, 2008 AND HAVE ALREADY BOOKED FOR MAY 20, 2009. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS CITY AND HAVE FOUND A REALLY GREAT HOTEL TO RE-BOOK AT EACH TIME WE GO BACK. HOPE TO ALWAYS GET OUR COURT YARD ROOM."

A Recent Traveler from Fort Myers, FL had this to say:
"After the first night, we knew we had made a mistake booking The Lamothe House. The room was large and clean, but the street noise was unending. The bed groaned whenever one of us moved. Our room was on the third floor, but no one had told us that there was no elevator. The 'breakfast' was non existent...coffee, cold cereal. We checked out and went elsewhere, and the rest of our vacation was wonderful."

Sarah E. from Philadelphia, PA had this to say:
"Stayed 3 nights in room M9 a cottage separate from the hotel. Nice spacious room, large ceilings, huge bathroom - a delight. Beware - cold rooms, no rugs, all tiles and not built for cold winter nights (but charming non the less). Very good location, within easy walking to restaurants, cafe and the French Market. No internet although advertised, and breakfast was no more than warm coffee and some donuts. Parking was included in the deal, which was wonderful. Would stay again simply for location. Staff on cell phones during check in and check out, not very welcoming, but overall would consider this hotel for a weekend stay in New Orleans. "

Jennifer from Spokane, WA had this to say:
"We booked this hotel and found a crack pipe in the dresser, we had to request towels, as there were none present. We would come back to our room at 3pm and hadn't had service. There was a wooden 'panel' in our room that turned out to be a boarded up window. I've been to New Orleans many times and can tell the difference between 'Old World Charm' and a dump!"

"we stayed during last years mardi gras, and trip to the south, we had an excellent rate, great staff. great time We fell in love with New Orleans and this place so much we cut the rest of the trip short and came back to New Orleans. This place was within walking distance to everything First stay was in the front room and loved the feel of the place, . was'nt a real fan of the room that opened onto the back street but the price was great, and did'nt spend much time in the room as we were out exploring the city "

"We go to New Orleans at least once a year, and are always looking for a comfortable place close to The Quarter. With The Lamothe House we found that and more. When we got there we instatly upgraded to a suite with no problems. Parking is off the main street so no problems getting in and out. Will be back"
