Melrose Mansion
Located on historic Esplanade Avenue on the edge of the French Quarter, this opulent French Quarter mansion is a secluded New Orleans oasis. Victorian Gothic style Mansion on the edge of the French Quarter.
This sophisticated mansion offers all the amenities of a grand hotel with the intimacy and personal service found in a fine New Orleans home. With nine modern styled decorated suites in the mansion itself, and five additional suites in the Napolean House located behind the mansion, some visitors come to find the mysteries that lie behind these century old shutters. For others, it is the curiosity to experience what it is like to unwind and enjoy the luxuries of a beautifully restored Victorian Mansion after a recent $2 million renovation. At the completely NON SMOKING Melrose, the attention to detail will make you feel uniquely New Orleans.
The Melrose is a classic courtyard mansion with large French windows, roomy balconies with fingerlace ironwork, and pillared verandas. A grand staircase takes guests to their rooms.
Each suite showcases antique furnishings, shuttered windows, ebony-stained hardwood floors, and cathedral ceilings with large chandeliers. All suites have a king or queen-sized bed and an array of modern luxuries: 350-thread count linens, wireless internet, mini-fridge, a large flat-screen LCD television, and an iPod docking station. The ever popular Donecio Suite has been called `the most romantic bedroom in New Orleans` and is a favorite with honeymooners.
A light continental breakfast is served daily and can be enjoyed in the parlor or poolside. There is a small on-site gym well-equipped with free weights and cardiovascular and strength machines. And a new on-site hair salon is a nice addition to the neighborhood.
When not exploring the historic streets of the French Quarter, walk back to the Melrose and splash into the refreshing pool or relax on a lounge chair and gaze at the tropical lushness that surrounds you.
The Melrose Mansion has a mandatory Amenity package of $10.95 per night which includes welcome amenities upon arrival, a light continental breakfast, wine and cheese served nightly, unlimited local and long distance phone calls, wireless internet, usage of the in-room safe with up to $20,000 safe insurance, and 24 hour usage of the fitness center.

Bathrooms offer standing marble showers or Jacuzzi tubs. Light continental breakfast is served daily.

"REALLY ENJOYED MY STAY AT MELROSE MANSION, IT WASN'T IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRENCH QUARTER, BUT JUST BLOCKS FROM EVERYTHING AND CABS WERE PLENTIFUL. BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO STAY IN A MORE QUIET AREA, WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN."

Posted: Wed, Mar 09, 2011"This was a great value and a beautiful place to stay. We had a junior suite with balcony and free parking. It was like a small apartment. I liked the fact that we could have guests over in the main room for drinks before going out and use of the main kitchen. It felt lke we were staying in our own private mansion and hardly saw any other guests. It is a short walk to Frenchman Street or the Quarter, but do not walk down Esplanade at night. Very sketchy area after the sun goes down. All in all a great experience and I would stay there again. "

From I-10 West and Airport
Take I-10 East to the I-10/610 split, pass the ``New Orleans Business District`` and merge right at the Slidell/1-10 split. Continue on I-10 to the exit AFTER ``Orleans Avenue/Vieux Carre`` exit (235-A) and exit at ESPLANADE AVENUE. Follow exit ramp and take the first right at the light onto Esplanade Avenue. Go appoximately 6 blocks down and the hotel will be on the left. Make the next U-turn and hotel will be on the right.
From I-10 East and Slidell
Exit at Orleans/Vieux Carre exit. At the end of the ramp, take a left at the light. Follow Orleans Avenue (which will go back under the Interstate) for 3 blocks until you reach the U-turn on Orleans at the sign that reads ``N. Rampart via Toulouse.`` Immediately merge into the far right lane which will lead you to the Toulouse entrance into the French Quarter. Take a left at the light onto North Rampart which borders the French Quarter for approximately 9 blocks. Turn right onto Esplanade Avenue and go approximately 3 blocks. Hotel will be on your left. Take the next U-turn nad hotel will be on your right.
