A morning at Maison St. Charles begins with a complimentary continental breakfast, best enjoyed outside on one of the scenic patios. Patio Parlange, named for the original owner of the building, features a sparkling pool and spa tub while Patio Degas identifies with the famed French painter who created several pieces during his time in New Orleans. The third outdoor venue, Patio Renoir, honors the French Impressionist and displays verdant gardens and quiet areas to rest and relax.
The Neighborhood History The glory days of New Orleans occurred during the pre-Civil War era. At this time, New Orleans was one of the largest and richest cities in the young United States. The Port of New Orleans was a bustling center of activity, with commerce from all over the world passing over the wooden wharves.
Maison St. Charles is located in a scenic area of New Orleans known as the Lower Garden District. It was here that many American merchants settled when they first arrived in New Orleans. While the homes become grander as one moves up St. Charles Avenue, the Garden District continues to serve as a fine introduction to the city as a whole.
Maison St. Charles History
Five of the buildings that are part of the Maison St. Charles were originally antebellum homes. These buildings are recognized as historically important and are listed with the United States Department of the Interior. The lovingly-restored homes feature high ceilings and parlors lit by crystal chandeliers. The Maison St. Charles is one of the oldest landmarks in New Orleans book of registries. If you want to experience the true historic flavor of the New Orleans Garden District, this hotel is your number 1 choice!

"My teenage son and I hit the big easy for food and fun for a few nights over his spring break. The hotel is well located. My room was comfortable and clean, except the mini frige...it had half empty bottles of water left in it and left over hard boiled eggs. The window only had sheer drapes... no black out drapes. and finally, the shower head was hitting me in mid chest (I'm 6' 2'') my son who is 5' 10 also had to bend over to rinse his hair. The front desk guy was dry and security sat back in their chair and made no effort to be friendly or make you fell welcome. Everything was OK...but with justt a little effort it would have been great."

It's only minutes away from the French Quarter and you can hop a ride on the street car that stops at the front door of the lobby. Emril's restaraunt across the street was a special treat, and we enjoyed the quit setting of the courtyards. The breakfast was also better than most hotels offer! Oh yeah and the rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly! We will be staying here again in the future."

Walking distance to Magazine Street, or take the trolley to the heart of Garden District. Slice Pizza, a few blocks down St. Charles is not to be skipped. Anyways, cute hotel, and very nice breakfast. Parking is available and is monitored by security, but a little pricey at $17 a day. Only minor issues in hotel rooms, like poor water pressure, which could have been an issue on a longer stay."

We drove 20 hours and arrived at 9am, and the reception checked us in and also a lone backpacker without any problems at 9am! The View was Great, the Breakfast was Good, and the Location was Awesome, the Down Blankets were Warm.Didn't realize it till later, but it is right across Emrils Restaurant! And the Slice of Pizza Restaurant down the street turns out to be a Fav for the Locals! My kids loved the Street Car to Downtown. We had an awesome time. Mardi Gras Museum, the Insecticide, the Southern City Tour by Van, the Swamp Tour, the Lousiana Purchase, the Laura Plantation, the Food, and all the Jazz Players in the streets! Wish we tried Zia and Houstons! Plus we missed the WWIi and the Zoo...will need to come back!"

The rooms very comfortable, spacious and so cute! The staff was very nice and helpful. The two restaurants they recommended, Zia`s and Houston`s were the best restaurants we ate at (we were there 7 days). When you go don`t miss the World War II Museum and the Zoo!"
