"The Bourbon Orleans is a beautiful hotel with a great location if you want to stay in the French Quarter. Our room, with a Queen bed, was very small (there was barely enough room to walk around the bed), but it was nicely decorated and fairly clean. The bed had a memory-foam top on it which made it very comfortable. At check in after a long day of traveling, the desk clerk gave us keys to room 654 and announced that it had a 'beautiful pool view'. When I opened the shutters to take in the view, there was no pool view at all, only a roof from the adjoining building. I was disappointed but figured that we wouldn't be staying in the room much anyway. The concierge had a weekday off, but the day clerk was very helpful assisting us with things to see and do. Everyone was very friendly there and we will definitely stay again when we return to New Orleans."

"French Quarter Queen room was small. Only room for one chair. Our friends room (same as ours, same price) was much larger. The air conditioner blew air onto the bed and could not be redirected. "The Building and decor were just beautiful and we completely enjoyed that. The housekeeping staff were for the most part very friendly and polite as were the great guys at the door, the absolute bad apples in this rotten barrel were the desk and management staff who when they found it convenient to acknowledge that you were there did their utmost to send you away. They did not actually say it but I got the impression that since we were booked through an agency and not directly (they were not handling the money) that we should direct our problems back to the agency, we were told more than once that we should contact the agency to resolve an issue or question. I told the desk that the TV remote did not work (it was not replaced), the shower stall leaked baddly onto the floor (onone with a tube of caulking showed up, the bedside clock did not work (not fixed or replaced) As lovely as the building, location and rooms were, realising that we regularly travel to NOLA for the Jazz Fests and will continue to do so, we will NEVER stay at or RECOMEND this hotel again."

"The hotel is beautiful on the inside. They recently did some renovations to the rooms, which included the bathroom. I don't know what they were thinking with the showers because the door only went halfway across and the whole floor would be soaked by the time you were done taking a shower. The room itself was small, and I wish it had a mini refrigerator or something in it. Although there were no food vending machines so if you wanted something you would need to either order room service or walk to the market to get it. I found that odd. The first day the maid service didn't show up until close to 5pm, so we told them not to bother. The second day was the same, but we happened to be out when they came. The room was never really cleaned...just the bed was made and towels replaced for the most part. Don't bother with the breakfast in the morning. We had vouchers for free full breakfast, but it was not good. Fruit flies all around the food and cold food were the main reasons. The pool area was lovely, but the pool itself which was supposed to be heated was cold. We had a hard time sleeping because it was very noisy. We did not have a balcony, but were on the 6th floor facing Bourbon. I suggest maybe a room facing the courtyard instead. On the plus side, it was the perfect location in the French Quarter. So if you are not planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel itself, this would work."

"We Love the city of New Orleans. When we visit we like to try different hotels.This hotel is in the best location, smack in the middle of the French Quarter. We loved the old wourld charm & the hotels history.Our room was newly renovated.It was clean and decoriated nicely.However it did not have a refrigator,a safe,and did not have chairs and/or a love seat. No small table? Had we ordered room service it would have been uncomfortable. It did have a desk & one chair. The room was large enough to have more furniture.The staff was wonderful at all levels. The dining area was lovely we had breakfast there daily. The food was very good. The breakfast dining staff was wonderful friendly & helpful. There was a severe rain storm one of the nights we were there. And yes the lights were knocked out. This can happen anywere. But what was disturbing to us is as we entered the hotel from the street knowing the lights were out in a good portion of the quater. There was no light source in the lobby. The staff was using their cell phones to get some light .Maybe one or two staff members had a small flash light . The stair wells and hallways had generator lighting. But the very large lobby had nothingYou could not see your hand in front of your own face. Management should supply their staff with emergency equiptment for such events. We will stay here again!!!!! Hopefully management will improve on areas that can make customers more comfortable and attention to safty measures for staff and guests."

"Although this hotel is beautiful and at a GREAT location, the service was HORRIFIC! We booked two rooms. When we arrived it was a little early and neither room was ready. We expected this so we walked Bourbon waiting for them to call when the rooms were ready at the actual check in time (3:00 pm). I did not receive a call by 3:45 pm so we went back to the hotel to check on the progress. One of our rooms were ready, but the other still was not. It wasn't until about an HOUR after our scheduled check-in time that both rooms were ready. When we left the hotel to see the town one of my friends told the doorman 'be back soon.' He then under his breath said 'I hope not!' This was COMPLETELY unnecessary. We did not pay money for staff to be RUDE to us. While in the rooms we called down for water and it never came. We called down for towels, and they never came. We called down for shampoo and conditioner and it never came. One time when we went to the front desk for water (since we gave up calling them for anything) we were informed that the hotel was OUT of water. I do not understand how a hotel with guests RUNS OUT of water. The house keepers began working very early and they yelled across the hall to each other. It was so loud that we could clearly hear what was said over their walkie talkies. After check-out, I realized I left a couple pairs of shorts in the room and had to call to see if they were found. We were told to talk to several people at several different times before anyone could give us an answer. The night manager that we spoke to was incredibly rude and not at all helpful until we were rude back. The location of this hotel in NOT worth being treated like this. I would NEVER stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone who likes being treated as a decent human being."

"The Hotel's location is in a perfect spot. All the attractions of the French Quarters (day and night) are within walking distance. The rooms have been updated and were bigger than I expected. My overall experience with this Hotel was good and I would go back but we had some minor issues during our stay. Check In was supposed to be at 3pm but that did not happen. At 4pm We were lucky enough to get a room ahead of the 15 other people waiting to check in. We had booked and pre-paid for a King bed but upon check in learned that we were given 2 doubles. (No King rooms left). It was obvious that the room had not been cleaned properly. We complained to the front desk and were advised that we would be switched to another room with a king bed, once it was cleaned. We checked in around 6pm. Day 2. We returned to our room around supper time and noticed that house keeping had not been to our room (no towels, bed, garbage etc). We contacted the front desk and were advised that the cleaning staff had gone home for the day. We spoke to friends who were staying on the 6th floor and learned that cleaning staff were still cleaning that floor. We spoke to the front desk again and learned that there must of been some sort of miss communication. Overall a great trip and we would stay here again- the Pros certainly outweighed the Cons."

Unfortunately, they did not properly staff for the number of guests so the wait to be seated was very long and then once seated they lost our order. Our waiter had the nerve to say there was nothing he could do about it and we would just have to wait it out if we wanted to eat. Needless to say, we didn't. Everything else about the hotel was exemplary. We mentioned our experience to the hotel manager who was most apologetic. The next morning breakfast was a very extensive buffet rather than alacarte!"

" For the deal we got, which included 2 free drinks at the bar, a free brunch buffet at court of 2 sisters, and free breakfast at the hotel, the price was definitely worth it. The bar is pretty dead though We ended up getting a king bed b/c the rooms were all booked due to the marathon. The bed was pretty comfy and big so we had our personal space at night. The hotel has an outdoor heated pool so that was nice. The only problem is if it's cold outside, it's super hard to get out. The hotel also has a history of being haunted so if you are into that thing, it's definitely a cool experience. We didn't see any or hear any though. Room 644 is supposed to be haunted. I wish I could have gotten that room! The only bad thing with the hotel was the breakfast is not that great."

"Best location for a first time visit to New Orleans! Smack in the French Quarter, yet a courtyard view room will yield a quiet stay. Some construction/remodeling was still happening, we were told they had finished. The first room we got faced a wall and the 5th floor had just been painted with plastic covering the floor and heavy fumes, it took 2 calls to the desk clerk from me and 20 minutes to change our room. Wished our room was larger for our 4-night stay, would have appreciated an upgrade. The 2nd floor hall and carpeting needs upgrading, our floors were sticky and all door hinges need oiling! Elevator access for some of the rooms are not convenient and will have you walking the entire floor to access your room or using the staff door as we did to walk up and down the stairs. The hotel staff was slow to pick up their trash, but over all were polite. As Californians we liked the non-smoking rooms yet people could smoke at the hotel courtyard, pool area and most of the clubs in New Orleans, which was challenging for us. Daily breakfast at the Roux was a plus and kept us fueled. We were able to walk from the hotel to the Mississippi River, Canal Street, Treme, Frenchman's Street, Armstrong Park, etc without any problem. I would stay here again and use this service if we'd get good rates, a larger room and additional perks. I'd also recommend the Bourbon Orleans hotel to friends."

I had read other reviews that the waitstaff in the Roux were not helpful, but we did not find this to be the case. The breakfast buffet is beautiful with lots of variety. The grits were cooked perfectly and the sugarcane syrup was an interesting and tasty change from maple. The only suggestions I have for this hotel to make a great experience even better is to find a way to lower the noise level in the bar. It was full of people shouting at each other; such a contrast to the sedate manner that the rest of the hotel portrays. My other suggestion is to vacuum the rooms more thoroughly. Our room was perfectly clean with one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in, but the floor had not been vacuumed and the shower floor needed cleaning before use."

But far enough away that we didn't hear a thing when we went to bed. The bed was very comfortable, the staff was very nice and the room was neat as a pin. Best vacation ever! "Our family had a great stay at the Bourbon Orleans. My husband and I took my parents for a 5 day trip. Besides the great staff, the location couldn't have been better. It was easy for my parents, being in their 70's to walk right out the door and in to the action of Bourbon street. Great music and restaurants we're close. The hotel was very helpful suggesting walkable restaurants to go to. I would definitely recommend the Bourbon Orleans if you want to be in the heart of the French Quarter."

"Stayed at this hotel during JazzFest. Was relatively happy with my stay. As my boyfriend and I left the hotel he had realized that he left a poster that he had bought in his room. We called the hotel and asked that it be shipped to our home if it wasn't too much trouble. Needless to say, the hotel had charged my credit card $46.26!!! If they would have told me it would have cost 4x the cost of the actual poster I would have said keep it. I considered looking past the uncleanliness of this hotel because of its location, but now I know that these people are scammers. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. Go to a better hotel in New Orleans, you may pay a little bit more, but at least you know that you won't get scammed. Ridiculous"

"This hotel is ideally located... close to the action but surprisingly quiet inside. The staff was friendly and always ready to help, giving tips on great dining in the city. We would definitely stay at this hotel for our next visit to NOLA. We were very impressed with the value we received for our money."

"I love this hotel. I have stayed 3 times, each time for 1-2 weeks. Each time was great. The location can't be beat--right in the middle of the Quarter--an easy walk to everything, very convenient. Easy to catch cab if needed, close enough to clubs in Marigny area to walk. Staff has always been very helpful, friendly and very accommodating. They even found a mini-fridge to move into my room when I requested one. Pool area is very nice and lobby is nice too. It is right in the heart of the Quarter--one side actually abuts Bourbon St., but it is very quiet. Very nice wine bar/bistro right across the street. Close to grocery, dozens of restaurants, shops etc. Rooms I have been in have been very nice and spacious, bathrooms clean and roomy too. This is always the first place I check when heading into NOLA, and I have stayed in a LOT of places there--always come back to this."

"The accommodations were very good, for the price.
The staff, were quite friendly and tried to help in every way they could.
The rooms were quiet, clean, tidy and well kept, so were the hallways and the Lobby.
I would recommend this Hotel also for it's location, in relation to the action. It is close enough to the main strip, but still far enough so the noise is not disturbing.
Very nice...go for it. "

"My wife and I took a trip no New Orleans for her birthday in May. The Bourbon Orleans is a wonderful choice for lodging in the quarter... the location gives you great access by foot to all points. The staff is accommodating and helpful, the rooms are comfy albeit a bit small (this is to be expected of a hotel of the bourbons age) while in New Orleans make sure to stop by the Absinthe House for the best bloody mary you will ever have...eat a lucky dog, have some gumbo...and relax."

"Visited New Orleans in May of 2010. We were leery at first with such a great deal we got. When we arrived, we were impressed with the staff and how friendly they were. The room was totaly not what we expected. The room had blown us away. we are so thankful we stayed. I am currently planning the next trip and expecting to stay at Bourbon Orleans."

"We stayed for two nights at the Bourbon Orleans and from the time we drove up to the hotel it was clear that we were going to have a wonderful time! This hotel is beautifully renovated on the inside and outside. The valet was polite and my car was returned to me in mint condition. The part of the French quarter that the hotel is located in is close enough to walk and get the experience but still very quiet and peaceful at night. The lobby was beautiful as were the bar and the breakfast area. The hotel staff was amazing, polite, friendly, and even gave us great information about the city. The front desk clerk even allowed us to use a special employee only elevator since our room was a very long walk from the guest elevator. Our room was clean and very, very nice, it was definitely the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. I will definitely be staying here again in the future!"

"Usually stayed at the larger chain hotels, but decided to do something inside the Quarter. Price seemed a little low, but gave them the benefit of the doubt and it paid off. Nice sized rooms, very friendly staff (kudos to Caleb!) comfortable pool, and walking distance from just about everywhere. Settled just behind the cathedral, it's a convenient spot to call a temporary home away from home. Would definitely refer friends to this establishment."
