The staff was always going out of their way to accomodate. And extremely friendly. The hotel is centally located in the French Quarter so everything is a short walk. First stayed with couples in November of 2015....had never been before, and couldn't wait to return. I did with girlfriends the following March of 2016. Love this city and will make it a point to return at least once a year!

I have stayed at many W throughout the world and this 1 does not disappoint. 1st, its right in the heart of the action. Only 2 short blocks off of Bournon street (you wouldn't want to be any closer)! 2nd they have managed to squeeze a cool little pool onto the property. So after a day of up and down those dirty NOLA streets you can rinse off in a perfect pool with beds outside.3rd, great service as I always expect from a W. very attentive and accommodating. There are is a lot of grimy stuff in the New Orleans French Quarter, but then its an old city with night life around the clock. The W Hotel is in a refurbished, older building (nearly all of the buildings in that area are historical), but my room was very modern and well appointed. It was comfortable and reasonably priced (but not cheap) for the area and the overall comfort and safety level. The restaurant/bar downstairs, SoBou is not to be missed.

I arrived at 1:30 am to check in and the attendant was not very helpful. Never offered to assist with the luggage and he hesitated to walk me to the elevators-even though anyone from the street has access and it was late and dark. The room was very simple and I didn't like that the sink space was tiny so I didn't have space to accommodate the toiletries. When I ordered room service my two scrambled eggs came wrapped in plastic for $14. That was just for the two eggs-no potatoes or meat.

First off the location here is great, you are close to everything it seems with streetcars a couple blocks away, bourbon street a couple blocks another direction, and the riverfront area a couple blocks yet another. Perfect! It was reasonably quiet and we really liked the decor and style of our jazz themed room. Very cool! The downside here is the lobby is tiny, there is no room in there at all for multiple groups to checkin or out. Staff seemed too busy to really pay attention to your needs or... Read more

The hotel is in the french quarter. Not far from the popular streets e.g. bourbon, frenchman... Great staff. I liked everything about the hotel apart from their in room dining - poor variety. Not much at all. What made it seem even worse is that the hotel I had just come from in another city, was five star and had a larger variety of food. Ordering in can be just as tough because only a very few restaurants deliver to this area or to the hotel - not sure which. There's not much to say abo... Read more

Like other hotels in the French Quarter, parking is expensive, but it's on site (and therefore relatively quick). Rooms have modern feel. Smallish pool with a cozy courtyard (with cabanas and loungers). Location is great--in the French Quarter, but a couple of streets away from the nightlife.

Well situated on the outskirts of the French Quarter. Check in was extremely slow - were only allocated rooms at 4pm. We were offered 500 points in leu of rooms being serviced? - does not seem like they have sufficient staff to service hotel. Rooms are really basic and quite small. Bathroom has a good shower. This is a very average hotel and not sure I would stay here again.

The good: Location, location, location. You are right in the French Quarter but far enough away from Bourbon Street to have less foot traffic and noise. SoBu restaurant is very nice. I really liked the taps of beer right at your table. The courtyard is great, especially at night with gas lamps, candles, colored lights and fire to look at it. As well, for the most part, every employee I encountered was very nice. For the bad: I had two rooms reserved, and upon arrival at the W Hotel New... Read more

This is a solid 4 star hotel, with 5 star location. The first Wonderful Room assigned (525) was tiny, with no desk, or space to put away bags. We politely requested a change, and Amber was quick to take care of it. The second room was excellent, on the corner, with views of the French Quarter. Service was good. Pool is really nice after a long, hot, summer day. All in a, I would recommend this hotel to most.

We went for a 3 night New Years Eve trip. The hotel's location in amazing... right within all the action of the french quarters, but not right on bourbon street which can get very dirty. There are shops, bars and restaurants at every step. We are SPG Platinum members and got a room with a small outdoor area, which was nice. The bathroom was small, but not tiny. Everything was clean. I reduced one star because we expected more party/ action within the W, since W is a nightlife focused brand. But... Read more

I was excited to stay at the W Hotel in the French Quarter. I was expecting an upscale, vibey, boutique style hotel in the heart of the French Quarter. To me, the hotel disappointed. The decor - including the rooms - tries hard to be cool, modern and different. Instead, the bright colours and small differences come across as cheesy and uncool. Beds are comfortable as with all W Hotels but one doesn't get the feeling of a luxurious hotel. The location is good in the French Quarter. But the hot... Read more

Also, to some extent, words fail to adequately describe it because it is something your really need to experience. In a city of such diversity you still can find surprises here. Quentin our valet ambassador was a dynamic southern gentleman who always had a genuine welcoming smile. Check in was quick, rooms were clean with great frosty AC in the humid heat of NOLA. Bar experience was underwhelming and SoBou food was not as memorable as their Burlesque Brunch show. First, you need to go to the bar SoBou at the W on Chartres St. Then you need to ask for Hunter - a bartender with encyclopaedic knowledge of spirits, wine and beer. Then you need to ask him about the history of Sanzerac - recipe, ingredients, absenthe, how absenthe was believed to be a psychotropic but is now legal due to the efforts of a New Orleans Man... then you need to ask Hunter to make you a Sanzerac - rye, not brandy. We absolutely loved this hotel! The decor was quirky cool and the whole place was super clean. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We loved the location too. It's in the French Quarter but is easy to walk to places outside of this too. Couldn't fault this place at all :)

I just stayed for three nights and I really enjoyed the Hotel. The staff was extremely nice. This is a boutique hotel so the lobby is small, the restaurant is small and the bar is small, but they make it work. The court yard and pool area are a rarity in a city and sitting by the pool was a welcome break from the noise of the city.

This was our third stay at the W New Orleans and once again LOVED it! The hotel is perfectly located that you can walk to everything!! The room decor is super chic and fun, and the courtyard and pool areas are tranquil, relaxing and beautiful. The entire staff was incredibly kind and helpful from the moment we arrived til the time we departed! An awesome five days...we will definitely stay here again on our next trip to the French Quarter!!

Definitely does not live up to the typical W hotel standards. The hotel staff was about the only positive of this location, everything else was beyond sub-par; from the soiled bed, to the moldy vent to the loud partying guests. There are countless other hotels within the vicinity that cost less and have clean rooms.

This hotel is a Gem! Staff goes above and beyond and the courtyard is the perfect place to sit and enjoy. Rooms are spacious and Bliss products are always a plus. Definitely a hotel I would visit again and again!

The staff couldn't be more caring, our luggage was delayed for 24hrs and they took great care of us during this time of stress. The room was clean, the beds very comfy and it was quiet. Free wifi in the lounge but the hotel is so small I could still log in up on the 5th floor! The only issue was the the filter in the pool broke near the end of our stay so we were unable to swim for the last 2 days as it was over a weekend and I assume they couldn't get anybody in to fix it until the monday but w... Stopped at the W for one night, great location! Small lobby area, but in the morning the staff puts out great coffee for the guests, and the parking is secluded in a private lot which is a bonus in New Orleans. Rooms are smaller, but well-appointed with amenities and neat chich design. Recommended for those wanting to stay in a quiet hotel away from hustle-and-bustle on Canal Street. Didn't end up using pool, but there is a quaint outdoor courtyard with fire at night.

Property has a nice appearance, beautiful courtyard. Overall, very expensive for what it is- and isn't. Rooms are very small and in my opinion, not very functional. Bathroom is super small and very poorly lit. The noise and lack of privacy is a HUGE turn off. I could hear my next door neighbor snoring and watching tv and even what sounded like receiving a fax in the middle of the night. Based on what I can hear, I feel there is no privacy, which is unfortunate based on the cost. Very LOUD... Read more

This hotel was in a great location in French quarters. Within blocks of the main strip of town, although you are also steps away from Shops and restaurants. We had breakfast at the hotel and it was delicious. Room service was terrible. When I called, the woman on the phone was relaying my order to another person next to her and guess what happened??....They messed up the order and didn't give utensils to eat. It was frustrating. The hotel also seemed to have college kids working there the whole ... Read more

I have stayed in a few French Quarter hotels and this is my first choice. The staff is great...especially Quentin who was friendly and very accommodating during my last stay - more than exemplified the W's "whatever-whenever" motto! My room was adequate in size (larger than some in the French Quarter!) and functional, very clean with upscale décor and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was a bit small (once again, larger than some in the French Quarter) but very nice and super clean with many... Read more

Wonderful. The best place we had dinner in New Orleans. Tina is the best. I recommended the place to all my friends. The dessert of pudĂn was the best I ever tasted. It has a warm ambient. All the personal are very friendly.

This property is not what it used to be. If you are a Starwood Platinum member, expect nothing! No welcome amenity! In the past, we always got a nice welcome gift as soon as we checked in, no more. For starters, we were sandwiched between two screaming families on the 2nd floor. In the past, as Platinum members we were always put on the 4th floor, away from the noise and in a more private setting. The bed and pillows were just horrible. Don't expect a Heavenly Bed like at a Westin or Sher... Read more

Just spent Halloween at the awesome W French Quarter. My wife had stayed here previously and had a horrible stay and was livid when she heard I had reserved this hotel for our quick getaway. We visit New Orleans twice a year and always stay in the Quarter so this hotel had been my list as I am a fan of W's. Our Wonderful room was available on arrival and Tiffany made check in a breeze. One of the more expensive rooms in NOLA, and we were hoping to stay as close to Bourbon street as possible and this hotel is a couple blocks in. Nonetheless, the property is great, has a nice outdoor fireplace area where you can kick back and enjoy drinks and was one of our favorite parts of the hotel. The rooms were much smaller and considering what we were paying, we were hoping for someone a little more spacious but it got the job done and the posh and chic amenities definitely made the room ... Decided on a whim to visit the French Quarter and was happy to find an SPG property. The W is perfectly located in the French Quarter - everything is easily within walking distance for both me and my 75 year young Mom. Lots of history, restaurants and cute shops nearby. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Staff is very friendly. Only real complaint is that parking was outrageous at $46 a night but parking is definitely at a premium in the French Quarter.

I spend my bachelorette weekend at the W French quarter in August 2015. We had 17 girls in total and the W let us have 4 rooms all next to each other. Perfect location and fabulous ambiance! We were out and a about most of the time but we always loved coming back to the hotel. And spend a couple of hours at the pool and bar! Thank you again! You helped make my bachelorette weekend perfect! Will definitely be back!

The location of this hotel is EXCELLENT! You can walk to just about anywhere from this hotel which is a major benefit to this hotel. Be warned though the hotel rooms are small and could use a proper cleaning or rather updating; there was quite a bit of obvious wear and tear on the furniture and fixtures in our room and the shower had a serious need for a good scrub; when we checked in there was a bobby pin on the floor. Also most importantly the room's walls are very thin, honestly it was the... Read more

First, when we checked in in our room, it smelled so bad that the bell boy had to call the reception to change it! They gave us another room, with a much smaller bathroom.( No other option available) Next morning we went for breakfast at 9AM. The place was over air conditioned (59F) We asked to raise the temperature, but nothing happened. The music was so loud, that we couldn't speak among ourselves. We asked for Capuchinos, but they said that their "machine is broken". So we decided to have bre... Read more

This was a unique W. It is odd in that you do not walk into a lobby or a main area, the elevator shaft is in the middle of a courtyard. So you never feel connected to the hotel, as you are going into the elevator right in the courtyard. The rooms are small, but they have the standard W feel. They are modern trendy, etc. The hotel is centrally located; you can get to many hot-spots within walking distance. There is no spa in this hotel but Spa Atlantis is right around the corner. My trip to NOLA was made extra special by the helpful staff at this fun, hip hotel. This hotel has a strange combination of features, and I don't know what to say. It is priced over $300/night, and it is located in a very nice place, close to the sounds of life but on a quiet street. On the other hand there is almost no service, no signage, and when arrived I felt pretty much lost. Nobody greeted me at arrival, nobody helped with the luggage, nobody showed the elevator... My husband and I consciously made a decision to switch from the Ritz Carlton and try the W. They are priced pretty much the same, the W was $20 a night less. Sad to say we were very disappointed. Let me preface this by saying the staff were very friendly and helpful so this is no reflection on them. Our room was super tiny and the bathroom reminded me of that on a cruise ship it was so small. Perfectly located in the French Quarter. On the downside - as it's so central it can be a little noisy. Rooms are also small and the staff (although very friendly) need further training. Those of you who follow our reviews know that we have visited this property many times over the years and our overall impression has always been very good. This trip was just a bit more than that.
