NOLA isn't what it used to be, unfortunately. The music on Bourbon has deteriorated into cover bands and more raucous drinkers than ever. But it has its charms, as does this hotel. Was here for a conference and had a magnificent suite. Quiet and spacious with a lovely freestanding tub. The business meeting food was hit and miss but the reception fare was better than most. Pleasant staff and a lively lobby.

Great hotel except between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Avoid at all cost between those two dates. Lobby is crowded with sightseers, traffic in front off hotel is a nightmare, bar service and restaurant are over-whelmed by the gawking light tourists.

An annual business conference took me to New Orleans last week. As usual the company's choice of accommodations was a good one! From the minute we drove up to the hotel and was greeted by the doorman the two night stay was wonderful. The ease of checking in and out, dining in one of the hotel restaurants, working out in the fitness gym (open 24-7) and its proximity to the French Quarters (2 blocks away) made my stay an enjoyable one. My room was FABULOUS! What more could you ask for....com... Read more

We booked the hotel using AmEx Fine Hotels and Resorts, which includes some very nice benefits (free breakfast, upgrade, $100 credit, etc.). Upon checking in, we were given a King suite in Tower 1, a really beautiful room. A few hours later, we discovered that this was actually the type of room we had booked. We talked to the front desk, and they were very apologetic about not upgrading our room. So much so, that we were transferred to an Astoria Suite! The Astoria Suite had two full bathro... Read more

Just back from a weekend in New Orleans. We stayed at the Roosevelt - a block outside the French Quarter. Our room was luxurious, and we met friendly staff at practically every encounter. Beautiful pool area (only complaint is that we couldn't get towels...after asking two employees in the pool area and waiting 30 minutes, i called the front desk. Towels appeared almost immediately).

The check-in lines were long but once we were up, we were very pleased with the front desk attendant. She was both pleasant and professional. We were upgraded to a Suite with a very nice sitting area. Our room was spacious considering that this is an older property. However, there was very limited bathroom and vanity space but the shower was amazing since it had a choice of side sprays, rain shower or regular shower head. The Ferragamo toiletries were also very nice. We visited on... Read more

The lobby was amazing, right out of the movies. You could tell the place had a history. This is about where the excitement stopped. Our room was very small, no problem, we could only see into other rooms from our window, no problem. The price, a problem. We spent four days at the Sheraton across the street for a conference and moved to the Roosevelt for the weekend because she Sheraton was booked. We "upgraded" to a "A Waldorf Astoria Hotel" for the experience. Honestly, beyond the lobby/din... Read more

Located on the edge of The French Quarter, The Roosevelt is a spacious, quiet, luxurious oasis after a day or night of sight-seeing. This was our fist visit to New Orleans and we visited over Spring Break. My husband had to work, while the kids and I explored the city, so we requested and received an upgrade to a larger King suite. It consisted of two rooms, a king bedroom and full bath, and a smaller sofa-bed lounge room with a half bath. This was a perfect set-up. My husband had a comfort... Read more

It took almost an hour and several trips downstairs for an extra pillow and blanket- it was late but really? Check in and check out vary slow- this should not happen at this level of hotel, Also I did not see a Honors check

The first disappointment was at the check in counter- 2 hrs after official check in time my room was not ready. The front desk did not offer any apologies, I presume that'd be the norm. The location, staff and decor of this hotel could not be better! We stayed for one night this summer in a King bed luxury suite and were extremely pleased. The living room and bed room were both spacious and beautiful. The bathroom, however, was unlike any bathroom I've ever seen at a hotel - it was probably the biggest of the three rooms, with a walk-in shower and a separate tub in which I probably could have fit all five family members. Stayed one night here, following several years of absence. The hotel's common spaces are great, and the Sazerac Bar is worth a separate trip on its own. Sadly, the hotel is not the same. All in all it is a nice hotel in a great place if you are interested in that part of town But be ready not to get a lot of sleep at night!

Once upon a time...in 1966, we went to the famous "Blue Room" at the Roosevelt Hotel on our honeymoon. I live 2 1/2 hours from New Orleans and heard about this classy hotel from my parents. Over the years it became a Fairmont property. A few years ago it was restored & renamed including the resurrection of the famous Sazerac Bar. Fast forward 50 years and an overnight stay! The hotel is good, and very well located next to the French Quarter but did not quite meet my expectations when booking a Waldorf Astoria hotel. General appearance in the public areas is not up to standard, some maintenance is probably required to freshen it up a bit. That also applies to the rooms. My room was quite noisy, and I have heard similar feedback from colleagues. No buffet breakfast, only a la carte with limited choice and quite expensive. Good wifi throughout the hotel.

The WOW factor hits you the minute you arrive. The Lobby runs the length of a city block and is fabulously impressive. The Reception staff were friendly and welcoming and checking in was painless. The hotel has two towers and the staff were very good in pointing out the geographic layout which otherwise would have been somewhat overwhelming when first arriving. I had booked a King Suite and it was spacious and well laid out and comfortable. Wonderful high ceilings and huge windows which flo... Read more

Enjoyed this hotel from the nice shop in side to the great bars and restaurants to the cut but chic little coffee shop. The room was a good size and clean well planned. I highly enjoyed by stay and would use them again. That said, I was traveling with a friend, whose room was still decent but an awkward layout and much smaller.

If it was any other hotel, the level of service received would have been expected, and I would have rated this as "average" but because it carries the Waldorf Astoria name, it was a solid "Poor" at best, leaning towards terrible. Where to start. Okay, it's a grand old lady hotel...I get it. Probably rich with history....but it was obviously old....not updated and didn't seem clean. First, the room was postage stamp size with a terrible layout and bathroom so small, I almost didn't think we had ... Read more

Great hotel. Awesome accommodations and rooms and lobby are historic and beautiful. Love the rooftop pool and the Sazerac bar. Best cosmopolitan I've ever had at that bar. Concierge service is top notch. Convenient location to French Quarter nightlife.

So the first thing I have to comment on was the great bellman that was at the curb waiting to make sure our door was opened and our bags were unloaded and taken into the hotel. The hotel was beautiful inside the decor was what you would expect from this level of a hotel. We decided to check out a local restaurant. Again the bellman was on point. We were trying to set the location for the Uber driving and he asked were we wanted to go and responded immediately with the exact address. Can't say en... Read more

Fabulous lobby, one of the reasons we choose this hotel on our recent visit. Also, very central for easy access to French Quarter, but without the noise of staying in the French Quarter. Could walk to the river quite easily as well. Would recommend a room as high up as you can get one, otherwise you will only have a view directly of a building opposite and this can be a bit oppressive not seeing any sky. 2nd floor has function rooms. The Italian restaurant within hotel was very good. Disapp... Read more

This hotel is not only beautiful and historic, but it's central location makes it ideal for a weekend in the Big Easy. You're just steps away from the excitement of Bourbon street, but you don't feel directly connected to the madness! The room was clean and comfy, and our king size room had a shower with four heads. Very relaxing! The only downside is that if your room overlooks Canal, it might be too noisy for you. It didn't bother me and my husband (city folks ourselves) but I could see that b... Read more

A 2 night stay cost me over $900 with fees and for that money i got a room not much bigger than my closet. You can also plainly hear water running anytime anyone in surrounding rooms take a shower. The bathroom is tiny with no tub and no counter space to put anything. There are better hotels at much lower prices in the area. Lesson learned!

The Roosevelt is a beautiful hotel that simply oozes history. The rooms are well decorated and clean. But the place just feels tired. After staying in the Waldorf in Amsterdam in Abu Dhabi we were looking forward to trying the Roosevelt. We found it underwhelming. The location is excellent. You can walk to almost everything in New Orleans. Upon arrival we went to check in and there was 1 other couple in front of us. We both waited for 10 minutes without seeing anyone at the Front Desk. As my birthday is during the holiday season, the hotel lobby was delightfully decorated with beautiful lighted trees and ornaments. The staff was very accommodating.
