I was a little bit surprised when I asked FD for some water in the room and was told that I can walk a block down to get some water for myself. Really? Isn't it a hotel? Can't you just get me couple of bottles of water? - No, we can't.. OK. Well. Felt like I was asking for too much all the time. Very OLD style hotel and prepare to be served just like back in 1920s. So don't complain. I really liked the design and architecture, gave us a real feeling of good old times. Probably wouldn't come back... Read more

Terrible, horrid, scary frightening reception staff, no milk or breakfast available on the last morning, was told we could buy some from the local shop, filthy rooms and reception areas. Our bedroom was so small the bed was up against one wall, so had to climb over each other, no side tables. General manager absolutely useless. Got charged twice, Manager promised us a refund of one of the nights but we never got it. Could not contact hotel as there is no email address. Enough said. Im a g... Read more

Im not one to be unreasonable or badger people. My, patience is a virtue motto, payed of at The Pontchartrain...! I've called the Ponchatrain to made a reservation for June. They have an outside house reservations agent. They are opening June 8th and I'm scheduled to stay in June. I can't get anyone on site on the phone... I want to make sure there is no construction going on still when I arrive. I want to make a dinner reservation at the Caribbean Room. No one calls back. What horrible customer service for a hotel that's reopening.

We visited the Pontchartrain Hotel on it's 6th day of being reopened. The service was fantastic and friendly. The Vibe there was off the charts. We did pre-dinner drinks at Hot Tin, which is the name of the rooftop bar. It has to be the best view in the city! It was already hopping on Day 6, so I imagine it will end up being the New Orleans Happy Hour hot spot!!! We ended our night at the Bayou Piano bar! What an awesome place. The staff at this hotel goes above and beyond to make your stay as nice as possible. It had just reopened this week after renovations and was hopping with activity at the onsite restaurants and bars. The valets are exceptionally prompt and helpful. If you're looking to stay somewhere comfortable with a historic flair, this is your hotel!

Planning a recent trip to New Orleans and hearing the Pontchartrain Hotel reopened, we decided to give it a try. This will be our new Go-To hotel for future stays in the Big Easy. Even with the renovations it still feels like a step back in time. The room uses a standard key (like the old days), with the room well appointed and the staff was very welcoming & helpful.

We stayed in the Pontchartrain decades ago because it always had an eclectic element to it that was unique, even for New Orleans. Unfortunately, it declined, then closed and went through several incarnations, and during those years we stayed at the Omni Royal Orleans or the Omni Royal Crescent hotels. Though they were very nice, we were delighted to learn the Pontchartrain re-opened in June, 2016, and saw it was offering great rates. What a delight to discover that this classic gem of a hotel,... Recently stayed at this newly renovated hotel and I have to say the whole experience was wonderful. Every person I encountered was friendly and accommodating and the hotel itself is gorgeous and clean. I was so impressed that I sought out the General Manager Cody Bertone to let him know of my wonderful stay. He was such a southern gentlemen and truly appreciated my comments. It is wonderful to see the Pontchartrain back!!! Living nearby, I have not stayed here, but have now been to the Caribbean Room, Bayou Bar and Hot Tin (rooftop) Bar, on a few occasions. I truly wish I could say that my experiences resulted in a higher rating, but instead, a "3" is being generous. If you want ultra-packed bars, this is the place to be. In fact, there is a line (behind red cording) to go up the elevator to the Hot Tin. Past 6:30, the line begins to be so long, that you can spe... Read more

It was wonderful to see a Grand Old Dame coming back to life. The hotel is lovely, the service is warm and friendly and will continue to improve. The two best aspects are Chris Lusk cooking for the Caribbean room and the Hot Tin roof top with vistas of the city which cannot be beat. The Pontchartrain Hotel has a very storied past, and its most recent incarnation is playful and whimsical. Its new color palette is flamboyantly Caribbean to the core, with a colorfully elegant old Caribbean estate ambiance, down to the funky, old style door keys. The staff is friendly and accommodating, although not overly efficient. I stayed about one week after its reopening for lodgers, and there was a lack of room service and the breakfast items in the Silver Whistle I found good, but wit... Read more

A group of us stayed the night prior to a cruise. The hotel was delightful, the room was lovely, and beds extremely comfortable. In addition, we checked out the roof top bar, The Caribbean Room, and the diner. Drinks and food were fantastic! This is a quieter location than a hotel in the French Quarter, but the trolley line is right in front of the hotel, so getting to and from the Quarter is very simple.

How do you describe perfection? I have no idea, but I am sure going to try. As soon as I heard the Pontchartrain Hotel was reopening I was all about it. I was all about the rooms. I was all about the Bayou Bar. I was all about the Silver Whistle. The hotel itself is heaven. It feels like an old style hotel and when you check in at the counter, you can just tell you are in for something special. One of the things I really like is that you get keys to the rooms. My new husband and I stayed at the Pontchartrain for our elopement and could not be happier with our choice. From the moment we arrived till we left for our honeymoon cruise the staff went above and beyond. We were even given a private tour of The Hot Tin and took many photographs pre wedding at the hotel. We will be staying here each time we return to NOLA. Thank you again for the wonderful service!

Beautiful property in a very convenient location with great staff. We ran into a little problem with our room on the first night. When I went down to the desk to let them know, Carl was all over it. Stayed 4 nights at the Pontchartrain in early October and was very pleased. All the staff from Carl at the front desk to all the rest we encountered were very friendly and helpful. You know what it's like. Kids. Smelly dogs. The desperate need to remind yourselves that you're still actual people not called Mommy and Daddy. So when the The Pontchartrain finished its restoration and reopened, we were really excited - my husband couldn't wait to try the mile high pie, and I, meanwhile, was covertly scheming to secure overnight childcare so that I could whisk him the entire mile down the road for an overnight stay. I booked this hotel because I had been told that it was newly renovated. I looked at the pictures on their site and was expecting rooms with charm and ambiance. As soon as I stepped onto the elevator I knew it wasn't going to be charming. The "renovations" were no more than new paint over old paint.. I hate it when the details are completely left untouched. Dirty corners, dirty elevator tracks.. the room was a sad attempt of nice. In door out door carpet. Old dated thrift store pictures, w... Read more

The New Orleans culture is captured in the renovation -- a throw back to the day when hotels weren't high tech and glitzy. The decor is fabulous and the food was great. Drinks in the living room were memorable. The Caribbean Room is fine dining with good service and great wines. The room was small and quirky in good ways. Better lighting in the baths with magnifying mirrors would be helpful. It was very comfortable.
