"the place was great and in the french quarter. The only problem was, I was charged for parking. Comp. parking was suposed to be included in my package with bookit .com. When I arrived, I was told ' My vechical was to large and I would have to pay extra because I had a trailer on my truck.' after paying the extra charge then I had to move my truck to acomadate other guest. Other than the unexpected charge, the room was great and the staff was exceptional"

"Loved my stay at the Lamothe House. It's location alone recommends it! Mere steps from French Quarter fun and the accommodations were excellent. My room was clean and simply furnished, the bed was comfortable - overall the space was small but very cozy, perfect for my needs. I appreciated the gracious manner of the staff, very welcoming and helpful. The place has a great sense of charm and history. Sort of a 'shabby chic' feel, very New Orleans!"

"The hotel was not very well maintained. We had to change rooms because the air conditioner did not work during the summer heat. The second room we had was better but still needed the fan we took with us out of the first room. The pool was dirty we ended up skimming the debris from the top of the pool on one trip down to the pool. No Juice was offered at 'Breakfast.' If you can call coffee and a danish 'Breakfast.' The last night we had 2 roaches in our room. The staff was rude and unhelpful when we tried to discuss each of these items with them. "

"We loved our stay at the Lamothe House - the staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, the place was unique and had a great 'local' feel, it was within walking distance to pretty much everything you could possibly want to see, and the price was great for the value.
We would absolutely stay here again."

"We have stayed here at least a dozen times during the last 8 years. We chose this hotel for it's charming New Orleans look and feel and was pet friendly. We arrived on Saturday, July 21 to discover that the hotel was sold last April 2012 to new owners. The pool was bright pond green and you could not see the bottom. The staff said the pool was chemically balanced and safe to swim in. I don't think so. The room needed major maintenance. The toilet would not flush solids. The hot water knob on the sink spined in a circle so you had to figure out where off was. The hot water knob in the shower was so tight that it took 2 hands to turn on and off. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The TV in the room was a tiny 14 inch screen. Many of the light bulbs were burnt out. Scariest part of all was that the smoke detector was broken and half missing off the wall. We requested a different room the following morning and then discovered that the hotel was no longer pet friendly. We were literally forced to checked in 30 minutes! This used to be a great place but it's not any more. I wish I could post the pictures that I took so you can see how run down the property has become."

"Our room was very cool - high ceilings, wood floors, fireplace, etc. Staff was very nice. We were in the house across the street and loved the front porch. We took advantage of the pool everyday. I love the location also.
Unfortunately there were a lot of things not to like also. The pool filter wasn't on at all, so the water wasn't the cleanest. The hot tub was so dirty it was unusable. on June 16th we complained about the ice machine, we were there until July 2 and the ice machine still didn't work. And there was still no sign. Since we were across the street, every time we wanted ice we had to cross the street, open the gate, walk past the pool, up the stairs, and go to a regular refrigerator to chop our own ice out of an ice bag. Plus, as someone else mentioned the wifi doesn't work in the house across the street.
If they addressed a couple of things this would be a pretty good value. It's definitely not for everybody. I wish they'd be more up front about some of the amenities the promote that they don't really have (such as the wifi), but like I said, the staff was nice and the location is perfect for enjoying Frenchmen Street."

"Interesting stay. . . The old house and furnishings were quaint. The location is supurb - right off the french quarter. Music all night if you want it, but still quiet in your room. We walked nearly everywhere. Not much variety for the continental breakfast - same doughnuts, bagels, toast and yogurt everyday. The carpet was dirty-pistachio shell on the floor and we had broken tiles in the bathroom. After complaining, the staff tiled the floor the first day of our visit - thankfully no one cut their foot on them. Renovations still going on - fumes from the next room drove us out. The staff quickly relocated us (family of five) to two different rooms and we made the best of it. If you're up for an adventure - I say go for it. If you like amenities and large bathrooms - go somewhere else. Again, the staff were very friendly and accommodating whenever there was a problem - it's just you don't expect there would be problems like these."

"WHAT A BLAST!!! Our rooms were really nice and gave that old style New Orleans affect. The staff was awesome and went out of there way to help us out and answer all our questions. We were kind of hesitant due to some of the other reviews but I am so glad we decided to stay here anyway. Be honest I think I spent 10 percent of my time in the room and the rest on the streets. HIGHLY recommend the Lamothe House. Will go back."

"I knew where LaMothe House was located so that was a bonus for me. Plus the price was right for a budget trip. There were good things about staying there and bad things.
Pros:
Wonderful room, especially for the price!
Very clean/well kept room.
Air was working quite well (until the last night anyway)
Near everything we wanted to do or see.
Car was parked in what felt like a safe and secured area.
Staff was very friendly and tried to help when they could.
Cons:
The pool looked like it might need some repairs. Also no railing for getting in or out which meant at 75 I didn't feel safe going in. I need something to hold on to just to be safe. So I was disappointed not to be able to go swimming during my vacation.
Advertised as having free wifi. Well it did but only if you stayed in the main house. We were in the house across the street so we had no wifi available for us. That was a major letdown. Only time we could use our laptop was if we sat by the pool in the heat, which was not appealing in the least. If you are going to say your place has free wifi you need to make sure it is available for all guests regardless of what room they are in or where it is located.
Phone did not work for the first 4 days of our stay. So if we needed something we had to walk across the street and upstairs to ask for it. Or use our cellphone to call them, using up our minutes on something we should not have had to use them on.
Ice machine broke down the last two days of trip and no sign was even put on it. We had to ask about it. We were then told yea, it's broken but we have ice upstairs you can come get.
I said I wouldn't return or recommend to a friend. I wish there was a maybe/undecided choice. I don't want to let the cons outweigh the pros because the room was pretty and nice. But I also feel like we did not get everything we paid for."

"The Lamoche house is perfectly situated near Frenchmen Street, the river and Bourbon Street. Really ideal. The staff was amazingly friendly, the rooms were clean (though the bed was a little rough on my back) and the pool was great for relaxing after a long day walking around the city. I have never written a review before, but thought this place was good enough it deserved a write up. Highly recommend it."

"I diligently searched ratings for a nice hotel at a reasonable price and was delighted with the hotel based on others reviews. Sadly, our experience was VERY different. The hotel is very old and one wouldn't expect perfection, but the floor was so old and worn that it sagged in the middle of the room and the boards shifted and creaked so badly I was afraid we would fall through the floor with every step. The bed was so hard I think I might have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor. The toilet wouldn't flush properly, took two or three flushes before everything went down. If you didn't giggle the handle the tank wouldn't fill and it wouldn't flush at all. The curtain rods were broken and the curtains wouldn't close. I requested the toilet and curtains be fix twice, but neither were corrected during our 3 night stay. The lighting was so dim I felt like we were living in a cave. The friendly staff was the only bright spot in this stay. I can't help but wonder if it was just the room we stayed in, since so many others praised the hotel. If you stay, specifically request not to stay in room 214."

"I was charmed by this sweet hotel. Stayed here with my family of 5. We had a nice suite of rooms that was very large. Furniture was lovely, breakfast very nice and staff welcoming. It is an old inn. Some things were worn, there were not enough electrical outlets. While I liked this hotel, my kids were less than enchanted. There were a few things in disrepair and the pool was not as clean as I would have liked. I thought the location, lovely accomadations and kind staff balanced this out however."

"we've stayed all over the Quarter. This was our 1st time here. The price was great! Especially since parking was free and the hotel has a pool. (I've had multiple parking tickets and even a tow over the years) While a very old property, we had a great room with a private little courtyard area. (ask for room 120) It was perfect. only 4 blks north of the Blacksmith shop, it was close to mayhem of Bourbon St, but still quiet. Would stay here again!!!"

"Save yourself the time, effort and money by booking at another property. As for the people at www.bookit.com, please pay a visit to the Lamothe House to evaluate this property before continuing to sell it on your site! The overall experience was dreadful. I've stayed at sister-property Frenchmen Hotel and had a pleasant and enjoyable experience, but unlike the Frenchmen, the Lamothe House was dreadful at best! The third floor room we originally received (for a four day/three night stay) was terribly hot because of a poorly performing air conditioning systems. Until they finally got around to moving the room assignment on the last night, it never achieved a temperature below 75 degrees. However, the staff was quite confident the broken, taped-up floor fan would ease the heat-- and on a day that the recorded heat index was 115 degrees-- the highest on record for New Orleans! The new room assignment was on the first floor and while the a/c unit did indeed work the roaches that scurried about the room left us wondering what else could possibly go wrong! However, to her credit, the evening clerk gladly handed us a can of Raid and wished us luck and an enjoyable stay! As for cleanliness, the amount of dust caked on air vents, mildew in the showers, chipped paint on nearly every painted surface, and stains on duvets, couches and chairs, was beyond the pale. The Continental breakfast consisted of stale doughnuts, danishes and coffee. While there was cereal present on the sideboard, no milk was provided to eat with it on two of the three mornings. No juice whatsoever was EVER offered, and a staff member indicated, "there's a recession and orange juice is expensive...! The pool courtyard was clean enough-- if you looked past the algae rich fountain-- however the umbrellaed tables had no doubt survived Hurricane Katrina-- as evident from the many rips that provided no shield from the sun. The bugs and leaves were so thick upon the pool surface, I personally took to using the skimming net to clean off the debris prior to a dip. The staff was probably the most apathetic group of people I've ever encountered in a hotel setting. Especially the evening staff! To classify them as rude, they'd have had to improve their demeanor! I say this as someone who travels for a living and stays an average of 16 nights a month in hotels. Was this booking a value? Sure, the average $75/night rate was a great price! Yes, when I booked I knew the rate was low, but as I stated, the sister-property was a delight so I assumed this property would be of equal experience. The only way I'd return to this property or recommend it to a friend is if it's first razed and rebuilt and a new staff is hired to manage the property."

"We stayed at The Lamothe House May 30 - June 3, 2012. We could not have been more pleased. It is a charming old building with true New Orleans ambiance. When I called to ask questions, the lady answering the phone was very helpful. When we checked in, Rene was great. He checked to see that our room was ready, directed us to the parking lot and even met us at the back gate to be sure we knew where to go. He even took my bag from me and helped us into our room. The staff could not have been more polite or helpful.nnThe room was spacious and clean. It was decorated nicely with furniture that actually had character!! An in-room coffee brewer and safe would be nice additions. The breakfast provided was standard, but a cup of coffee in the room first thing would have been nice.nnThe location was great for us. It was an easy walk to the French Quarter or Frenchman Street. A cab ride back from Bourbon Street was only $7 - $8. The neighborhood seems to be fairly safe, especially during daylight hours.n"

"I've stayed in NOLA many times. I've stayied in hotels in the quarter and the CBD. This was one of mky least favorite. The carpet had big stains the faucet handles in the bathroom were lose. The doorlock to the room didn't seem secure. The room itself was very small for the amount of money it cost. The staff were friendly and responsive, but that didn't really make up for the rest. I won't stay there again and wouldn't recommend the place to others."

"I have traveled to New Orleans many times in the last 40 years and love the city like a second home. My daughter moved there about 8 years ago so I have had a good sampling of various accomidations through the years. Last July while visiting my daughter on her birthday I found a treasure. If you are looking for a real New Orleans experience, you will find it here at the Lamothe House. The staff is exceptionally friendly and knowledgable. The accomidations are clean & distinctive with a beautiful worn and welcome feel. In most rooms you will not see the standard issue opulence of an upscale hotel chain. You will also not see the standard issue price one pays for that type of manufactured and predictable luxury. What you will experiece here is the real New Orleans - friendly people, a peaceful location close to the action without being in the middle of it and beautiful surroundings that have experienced history & use - all at a price even the locals would recommend....... and if opulence really is your style.... check out one of the suites in the main house! I highly recommend this hotel and I am looking forward to returning!"

"My husband and I had a great time at The Lamothe House. We were upgraded to a suite in one of the back houses and it was large, comfortable and quiet. We also had immediate access to the parking lot in the back. Our housekeeper was a sweetheart and took great care of us. The house is perfectly located to all the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter, but is quiet and secluded enough to afford a restful night's sleep. Also, if you walk 2 streets back, you will find Frenchmen Street which is easy access for food, small bars and a lot of local flavor. Take a ten minute walk and you are in the heart of Royal and Bourbon Streets. Stop at the Clover Grill on your way back to the hotel after a night of partying. Thanks for a great time, Lamothe! We are already planning our return!"

"The Lamothe House is in the perfect location to enjoy what the locals enjoy instead of the tourist stuff. Walking out the back of the hotel and around the corner to Frenchman St, great food and great music. I've been a musician 58 years. Tthey had a ragae band playing at the cafe negril that blew my socks right off...
The rooms are nice, old, restored, the shower was slippery be careful. Door locks not so good. A nice area of town. Don't forget your outside door key getting someone to push the security button can be a wait. I will stay here again the next time I go back a good value and a nice slice of the New Orleans lifestyle ...

"I wanted to stay in a hotel that was a New Orleans style and not your typical corporate hotel. This was total New Orleans. When we got there we had to be buzzed in, which to me makes it safe so not just anyone can barge in. As we walked in it seemed a bit mysterious since we did not instantly see a Front Desk person, so we just walked down the long hall and finally saw a sign that lead us up a flight of stairs and to find someone in a room that could look like a living room. The gentleman checked us in, he was very nice and explained everything in detail. We finally got to our room, which was not in the main house but in the back building at the very end, I was like ok privacy? When we got to the door, the door handle was so low it seemed like the person that lived here was a Little Person. But I thought it was kinda cute, so we opened the door and everything looked old style but still quaint. I liked it. The bathroom was basic, they had an armour for the closet. Bed was comfy. For the room it was nice for the price. I did not like the fact that the hot tub did not work the whole time we were there and I was looking forward to taking a dip and I would of liked to have swam but the pool creeped me out. Aside from that I loved they had free breakfast every morning which saved us time and money. It was a basic breakfast but I am not picky. Overall it was a decent stay for the price. I would stay here again for the style and history of the place but only if the hot tub works and the pool is updated. ;) "
