"Balcony lined doesn't mean there is ANY access to balconies. All the windows are painted shut. After that disappointment, we went to check out the pool and rooftop terraces. The 'pool' was full of limbs and bugs and when we inquired about the rooftop terrace, they looked at us like we were crazy and said there was no rooftop terrace. The room was disgusting. This supposedly newly renovated hotel looked like the walls hadn't been painted in 20 years! There was something black all over the walls and where holes had been punched in the walls, there was paint over the patches, but it wasn't even the same color as the walls! One of the two double beds foot extended at least 6 inches higher than the head of the bed. When I first went in the room and saw how nasty it was and that there was no way to access the balcony, I went downstairs and asked to change rooms. The manager was HORRIBLE! I've never met someone in management that was so uncaring and rude! She told me if I had wanted a room with a balcony, I should have requested one. I told her their ad implied all rooms had balconies but ours was painted shut. She then told me no rooms had balcony access. When I asked her why she told me I should have requested one if I wanted one when there wasn't any, she told me I was more than welcome to go to another hotel. I have been in hotel and real estate management for nearly 15 years and this is not the way professionals handle business. This woman could care less if we stayed there or not. The hotel is ratty and nasty and the staff are rude. STAY AWAY! Don't waste your money. There are plenty of other reasonable priced places to stay that are clean and have management that is interested in you returning. "

"Location was great! Room was decent. Linens were clean and replaced daily. Staff was great - friendly, willing to help. However, would have instructed the cleaning staff a little better - basics were fine, but baseboards, tiles, corners looked like they hadn't been scrubbed in quite a while! The whole hotel looked like it just needed a good spring cleaning! (Though I have found that most hotels skimp on these details!). Carpets were worn and needed replaced. On the bright side - location was great and within easy walking distance to the Fr. Qtr. and it had a nice ambiance to it. Small courtyard was pleasant for an evening, but wouldn't have ventured into the pool as it needed a bit of bleach! Would stay again if the price was right."

"Loved this hotel! best value and location of the several times we've stayed in NOLA. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 on a couple of the categories is that the carpeting could probably use updating (a bit old & worn) and the pool could use a re-glazing; also the elevator seems like it could use some work (but it was clean!). Otherwise our room was nice (small like most rooms in the city boutique hotels) and the staff was ultra friendly and helpful. A few folks have mentioned the motion-sensing AC, but once you figure it out you can figure out how to keep your room at a temperature you like. We'd definitely stay again."

"THIS COULD BE A PERFECT PLACE WITH A FEW IMPROVEMENTS, THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL BUT THE ELEVATOR BROKE DOWN TWICE DURING OUR STAY THE LOUNGING POOL NEEDED SOME CLEANING & REPAIR OVERALL FOR THE PRICE WAS A LOVELY PLACE NOT A FAR WALK TO THE FRENCH QUARTER (COUPLE OF BLOCKS) REALLY CLOSE TO HARRAHS & CANAL STREET"

"Great central location. Loved the hotel's historical ambience. It was not too big or overwhelming compared to other hotels in the area such as the Sheraton and the Marriott. Staff were very cordial and helpful."

"Booked a few weeks before going. Worried because the NCAA Womens Final Four was in town-no rooms available. By reading the previous reviews we were expecting a dump. As we entered they were just finishing wallpapering the foyer. Everything looked clean. Friendly help. We couldn't complain about much. The pool was being repainted so it was out of use. These boutique hotels in NO are in buildings that were built in the 1800's-they aren't going to be like the Hilton, Radisson, Harrahs etc. They are small rooms with high ceilings. The buildings are close to the street so you might hear some street noise. Everything in these hotels are smaller than the newer ones built. I don't know what was different that the other reviews but we were really impressed-taking into account the things I mentioned above.
Your 1.5 blocks from the casino, 3 blocks from the river and Bourbon St is a 15 minute walk. Unless you are going a distance from the hotel don't rent a car. There is no parking around the Quarter and valeting is expensive.($30.00 a day at the hotel) instead get a $3.00 all day pass for the trolley, rickshaw drivers available and cabs."

"The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was quaint. Very historic! Our room had a walk out patio. The only thing that would have been better was they could have had plants in the planters. We enjoyed our room. The marble bath was huge. Over all, it was excellent and we would stay there again."

"Mattress did not have a mattress cover. When I went to bed, bugs were eating me up alive. The hotel may have a good location, but the room was dirty. Room was very dirty"

"We loved the hotel. The courtyards are the best. Chophouse music was a bonus. Service was incredibly smooth and congenial. Room 316 needs plumbing help but it was taken care of consistently. Our other room had no problems. Highly recommended"

"It was super close to all the parades! Nice people! The only gripe is that parking was extra! The room was pretty pricey already, really thought parking would have been included. Oh and a fridge would have been nice!"

"Hotel is very old and in need of renovation. Carpet in hallways was very filthy. Floors were unleveled. Rooms need painting and smelled bad. Linen and comforters on bed had odor to it. Doesn't look like pictures on hotel website."

"IF YOU LIKE TAKING COLD SHOWERS AND SPENDING LOTS OF TIME STUCK ON ELEVATORS THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. WAY OVER RATED AND OVER PRICED. THERE WAS NO GOOSE DOWN BED IN MY ROOM EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ADVERTISED AS SUCH. JUST A BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT."

"We had a good experience. The hotel's location is perfect and the rooms are great. The only criticism is that the rooms need a fridge and coffee making equipment."
