Location

Located on historic Esplanade Avenue on the edge of the French Quarter, this opulent French Quarter mansion is a secluded New Orleans oasis.

Why Stay Here

The Melrose is a classic courtyard mansion with large French windows, roomy balconies with fingerlace ironwork, and pillared verandas. A grand staircase takes guests to their rooms.

Resort Details

This sophisticated mansion offers all the amenities of a grand hotel with the intimacy and personal service found in a fine New Orleans home. With nine modern styled decorated suites in the mansion itself, and five additional suites in the Napolean House located behind the mansion, some visitors come to find the mysteries that lie behind these century old shutters. For others, it is the curiosity to experience what it is like to unwind and enjoy the luxuries of a beautifully restored Victorian Mansion after a recent $2 million renovation. At the completely NON SMOKING Melrose, the attention to detail will make you feel uniquely New Orleans.

Accommodation Details

Each suite showcases antique furnishings, shuttered windows, ebony-stained hardwood floors, and cathedral ceilings with large chandeliers. All suites have a king or queen-sized bed and an array of modern luxuries: 350-thread count linens, wireless internet, mini-fridge, a large flat-screen LCD television, and an iPod docking station. A light continental breakfast is served daily and can be enjoyed in the parlor or poolside. There is a small on-site gym well-equipped with free weights and cardiovascular and strength machines.

When not exploring the historic streets of the French Quarter, walk back to the Melrose and splash into the refreshing pool or relax on a lounge chair and gaze at the tropical lushness that surrounds you.

Booked Napoleon 1 for a Friday night stay. Unfortunately the TV didn't work, which wasn't a big deal at all, but the staff insisted we be upgraded to our choice of Suites. We were shown 2 suites and allowed to pick the one we preferred. Excellent excellent service.

Walking distance to everything in the French Quarter yet a nice reprieve from the hustle & bustle of NOLA. What makes this property stand out is the engaging and lovely staff. We asked for suggestions of where to eat & I have to say every single spot we dined at was amazing. On our last day our transportation (which we arranged) neglected to ... Read more

We visited New Orleans for Jazz fest and decided to stay at the Melrose for the weekend. The location is terrific and the building and grounds very nice. The place, overall, just misses the mark. From the website and rates we paid we expected much better. The decor in both the main house/reception and our room were average at best and not very tasteful design and comfort-wise. We found the manager on hand to be a little snippy and dismissive. The two young gentlemen helping us check in wit... Read more
