This beautifully restored hotel, recently renovated and reopened in January 2012, is located in the heart of the French Quarter, only 2 blocks away from Bourbon Street, steps away from Jackson Square and the mighty Mississippi River.

All contemporary guest rooms and suites feature one queen bed, complete with local artwork, feather beds and duvets, 350 thread-count linens, flat-screen LCD televisions, FACE toiletries, wireless internet, in-room safes, IPOD docking stations, hardwood floors, and stand-up marble showers. Our French Quarter and Courtyard suites feature balconies which overlook the pool in the courtyard area or overlooking the historic French Quarter. "I visited the very clean and well located Hotel St. Helene last week while attending a conference. Upon arrival -the hotel AC was not workiing and it was unusually warm for Jan in NOLA. My room was NINETY (90) degrees and NO windows. I asked to move-no other room available. I was told to maneuver the thermostat-no chnage. The following day my room was moved and it was satisfactory (had a window) so I could live with fresh air.
My complaint is -I asked 4 different front desk clerks about removing the cost for the NINETY degree night-all said they did not have the authority to do so and would asked the manager to call me. I did not get a call. "

"For the money i paid this was the worst motel experience I have ever had. It was over priced for what you got. No amenities. The renovations for the hotel weren't even finished. There was no place to sit out by the pool, and no chairs around the pool. Just 2 small tables with 2 chairs. It was absolutely the worst place i have ever stayed."

"Overall we had a great time. This is about the 12th trip we have taken to Nola' and have stayed just about everywhere. So if your goin' to the Big Easy you have to stay in the Quarter, you will save yourself a lot of walking.
this place is in the heart of it all. I could see the St. Louis Cathedral from my balcony. I love New Orleans, from the pretty sights to the noise and funk. Which leads me to the only real drawback, if you have the balcony room overlooking Chartres St. you will hear all of the noise from the street and area and not to mention, the garbage trucks that come late at night to the back the hotel right across the street. I think they try an make as much noise as possible.
But again, I like the noise and funk of New Orleans, makes you feel alive.
The room was nice, clean with a minimalist decor. There were a few things they should take care of, the shower handle back plate was falling off, half of the cable channels were fuzzy, and the iron leaked.
I love the location, the pool was nice, I hope to definitely stay there again."

"This is an older hotel so as far as they go it was ok .The room did it purpose. The room was small and I had the extra sitting area. I only book suites anywhere I stay .The elevator did not work but the stairs are so close to your room you really don't need it. The location is great! It is really close to everything. The staff are wonderful check-in is 4:00p.m. but we got there at 12:30 our room was ready and they let us check in. The Hyatt on Canal is the place to stay if you want a really nice hotel but be prepared to walk; it is not close to anything. I would stay here again."

"I was more than a little concerned after reading other reviews. The room was small but comfortable. The elevator is out of service so I stayed on the first floor. One caution, any conversation in the lobby can be heard so if you are on that floor stay in a room towards the back. Staff is very friendly and attended to any requests immediately. Location is ideal. Bourbon St is two blocks away as is the waterfront. There is a mandatory nightly $8.95 amenity package which was for telephone, internet and safe insurance."

"The location was fantastic - the staff was very cordial, but the room itself was just adequate. I had read the review about paint fumes, but since that was back in Feb., I wasn't even concerned - but they still lingered in mid-April. Coffee and hot water for tea was available in the am and kept refilled through the day. We asked for a balcony room, but were put on the first floor, with the promise of being able to move the second day. Not happy about that, but I could live with it. However, hubs twisted his knee while we were out and with the elevator being out of order, the first floor suited us just fine after all. Pool was difficult to get in and out of with no railings and not that it mattered to us, but it wasn't a kid friendly pool at all. Also, I didn't ike that there was no carpet or even a rug or two. It wasn't bad - just not my kind of place."

"1. We are in our sixties and had to walk three flights of stairs due to no elevator.
2. Two out of three nights no air conditioning. very hot
3. rooms not sound proof and could hear talking in lobby on third floor.
4. breakfast not free with poor selection.
5. Had to pay $10.95 a night for telephone and wifi we did not use.
6. The available parking was $38 per day. Most other parking was $28 per day."

"I think once they have finished remodeling the hotel willbe great. The room that we had must have just been painted the fumes were very strong. Both elevators do not work. The receptionist told me half of the furnishing were on back order. But what they are doing with this hotel will be state of the art when completed.Veryclose to the river front, two blocks from bourbon street. and mardi gra parades are 1/2 block away"
