Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Spotlessly clean, helpful staff, comfortable beds, great laundry services, and all amenities in the room including microwave, toaster, coffee maker and double hob! Obviously if you're looking for lively night life this is not the place but if you want a quiet and secure location with free parking and unbelievable value for money, this is the place! The ferry terminal is about a mile away, or five minutes by car. You will pass a small local grocery store... Read more

Stayed here for the NOLA Jazz Fest. We booked here since all the other hotels and B&B were either booked or overpriced. Very reasonable, clean and location was quiet and safe. Out room was spacious, clean and included a kitchenette. Beds were ok but I've had worse, the desk clerk, Trachina, was very helpful and friendly. Not much to do in the surrounding area, but this was our 3rd trip so we drove everywhere we needed to go. You can take the ferry, but the last pick on weekdays was 9:45PM and we... Read more

Clean, clean, clean! Loved the staff (such hospitality), loved the fact that it was in a great neighborhood, quiet, and safe, and really appreciated the value. The room was large and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We discovered a couple of great restaurants and local bars in the neighborhood which made us feel right at home. We will be back!

Hotels in the French quarter area are very expensive and something afordable is very ugly, sobI found this hotel at the other side of the river which was very nice and clean, the area is safe and not so far from NOLA, just crossing the bridge. The stuff was very nice and there are good restaurants near by. I will definitivelly come back.

We really loved staying here .. Clean and quiet .. But easy access via the Algiers Ferry to the hub of tourism across the Mississippi. There is a wonderful bike trail along the Mississippi nearby, and biking in NOLA is a great way to see the city. Bike lanes are marked and cars were alert to the many bicyclers. We used the kitchenette and laundry. Very convenient. Felt like a safe area, patrolled too. Would definitely return .. But if you like all the nightlife, you might want to stay over... Read more

Federal inn was a great place to stay while visiting New Orleans. Out of the city so it was safe and quiet, large rooms with kitchen. Close to ferry to city. 9 min ride $5 to park $10 on weekends, drops you off at the aquarium and trolley stops. Watch for sailing times.

We stayed here the night before a cruise that left out of the Port of New Orleans. The room was large, on ground floor as requested, had a mini kitchen with real coffee cups. Beds were comfy and room was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was great and safe. Loved being on the Algiers side of the river. Was quiet and relaxed but still had the old architectural feel of the French Quarter. simply took the ferry to the French Quarter for a few hours of New Orleans nightlife. Fe... Read more

I had stayed previously both when this was still an active Navy Lodge and just after the conversion to a commercial property, both time, it was horrific. Poorly cared for and service that was less then stellar. None of this is true now, the housekeeping staff is top notch, and the remodel of the rooms is successful and makes the rooms functional and pleasurable. The location makes it easy to travel throughout New Orleans. This property still cannot compete with local new offerings from Marriot... Read more

Great value, clean, and quiet place to rest your head at night! The room was very large and recently updated with a modern feel to it. We had 2 queen beds and a kitchenette that had a mini fridge, microwave, stove, and coffee pot. The sink and vanity in the bathroom is a separate area, and the toilet and shower have their own private room with a door. The carpet was also very clean. The customer service was pleasant. They originally gave us a 2nd floor room, but when I explained to them that we ... Read more

I loved this hotel. I would stay again. It's on an old Navy base beside a police department so it's safe. It's about 15 minutes from the city. Has a kitchenette. Was extremely clean. Good for small children. No breakfast, no pool, no smoking either though. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, this place far exceeded our expectations. Free parking, large room suites, and pet friendly within 10 minute drive from the convention center and port. Staff was very helpful in advising about local eateries. Rooms were reasonably priced, clean and functional. We will recommend to our friends and return here for our pre cruise lodging in a few months.

The room was very nice. A few problems with broken faucet and doors on closet broken. However price was good. Room was very clean. It's not really close to all the attractions but a cheap cab or uber ride around $13. The area the hotel is in is a little sketchy but we came in at night and know nothing about the area. After asking around found it used to be the Navy Base and they turned the are into a community with lots of homes and a few hotels.

Used to be a Navy Lodge in gated base Navy Support Activity NOLA. Base was closed but USMC Support Activity remains. Lodge is now open to the public, rates remain very reasonable but now include tax. It's exactly like most Navy Lodges with kitchenette. Quality remains good. Still a bargain, convenient to NOLA. Very quiet. Plenty of rooms available but may have been close to full on Saturday night.

Large park area next to FCIS. Food trucks, music, shade, portaloos, free. Plenty of room to dance. Stellar music lineup. Would go again. Great place to see Tank and the Bangas. Plenty of free parking.

It's a real clean hotel with great staff but it's in a weird neighbourhood. It's in the middle of nowhere. If your hungry make sure you have change for the vending machine because there is nowhere to eat in the neighbourhood. The price makes up for it. The ferry to the French quarter is only 5 mins away by car. Parking is free so that's also a plus.

This hotel is really remote, but very convenient to Canal Street and the French Quarter by ferry (only $2 one-way). There is free parking and wifi, and it's easy to park (free) at the dock in Algiers Point. There are no restaurants or other entertainment near the venue, but it's a short drive to the dock area where there are a few bars and cafes. Algiers is a very quiet suburb, with wonderful historic architecture at the Point. As other reviewers mention, it's in a former navy lodge, so there's ... Read more

My mother, two aunts, myself and our small dog stayed at this hotel this past Sat and Sun. When I called to inquire about their availability I was told by a nice and apologetic staff member that they were full but I was able to book a couple of rooms through an online travel site so it worked out fine. Cost was around $110/night plus a $30 pet fee. The hallways smelled like clean laundry and the rooms were very clean and tidy. Kitchenettes with a small refrigerator, toaster, microwave and stove ... Although it's just across the river, here is kind of in the middle of nowhere. However, you don't need to worry about safety if you have a car. And it's 10 mins drive to downtown attractions. Room is large and clean, with kitchen. Painting is navy blue and I really like the style of the room. Better go to a market first to store food in the fridge for breakfast.

Stayed one night for a family pre-Christmas gathering last December, in Saturday, out Sunday. Sorry I didn't write a review then. I am looking at staying again this year, so that tells you something. Unsurprisingly, it feels like a visiting officers' quarters for fairly senior military families, nice, well-furnished, well-run, but not overly luxurious. Fortunately, we were able to get adjoining double queen rooms for our three teenage daughters plus my wife and me. The place was spotless, t... Read more

An interesting motel... It appears to have been part of the military accommodation for an old Navy base before being re-purposed. We chose this motel because prices downtown were much more expensive and parking was problematic. We were able to walk around the levee to the ferry terminal in about 30 minutes (with good views of the Mississippi), then took the ferry over to Canal street. Check-in: fast and painless. Room: huge. A bit "military" in feel, but spotlessly clean. We liked having a... Read more

I have mixed emotions in writing this review. I have stayed at this property numerous times and have always been pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms and the grounds. It is convenient to attractions if you have a car. It is near the levy which is great for taking a stroll or bike riding. The area is quiet and free from traffic and crowds. During this stay we checked into a dirty room. I voiced my complaint to the front desk. I was addressed courteously and given the key to another room. The... Read more

We stayed for 2 nights in November prior to a cruise. The room was clean, nice little kitchen area if you need that. The staff were friendly and helpful. Best of all, we were allowed to leave our car while we were on the cruise, saved us some money! It's not the fanciest, maybe a bit dated, but room was clean and convenient. We felt safe there. We took the ferry ($2.00 exact change required) across the river to the French Quarter. Kind of a nice ride in the evening with the sun set... Read more
