"I've been travelling to New Orleans for over 20 years and have stayed in just about every French Quarter hotel. The Chateau Dupree is definitely in a run down condition. Many French Quarter hotels are. Our first room faced an alley with a multi-story recycling company and the TV was off to the side rather than facing the bed. It was very dark and gloomy so we switched. We wanted to watch football without straining our necks. The air conditioning roared off and on all night and kept us awake. It sounded like a jet aircraft taking off 10 feet away. The bathroom was so tiny two of us couldn't fit at the same time and the shower was the tiniest I've seen in the U.S. If anyone has been to Italy you'll know what I mean. My husband could barely fit inside and had to step outside to soap up. The shower just barely dribbled water. I don't know if all the rooms on the 4th floor are this bad but be warned. The third room I requested after sneeking a peak when the door was open. We liked it a lot because it has 3 windows and the AC was modern and quiet. However, the TV was off to the side and it was very hard to watch for any period of time. This room has a bathtub and a large bathroom with a window. I recommend it if you don't care to watch any TV. The maid service was iffy. The maid failed to make our beds one day and didn't leave us a hand towel for 3 days nor any floor mat once. She complained about too many rooms to do one day. The price was good over all though there are always good rates during December."

"The stay was destined to have something wrong from the start.. between sweating to death in the foyer, while waiting to be checked in, to the clanky elevator that had no air flow, I should have known that we should have found another place to stay. We arrived and the service was very helpful, I'll give them that. They smile.. even walk two blocks to help guests get luggage from vehicles (although, that was not us). When we thought about the scenic Chateau Dupre, I thought it would be nice and eclectic.. instead, it was lacking electric. We booked the room to attend a concert just down the street and thought the price was fantastic... well, our room had a broken bed (frame was broken and bottom right corner slumped to the floor), as well as no air conditioning. I have lived between Texas and Louisiana all my life and I can take some heat, but this was horrible. There was no air flow of any sort and we returned late from our concert so there was no staff to alert to the problem to get a different room. We EVEN CONTEMPLATED A FOUR HOUR DRIVE BACK HOME AT 2 a.m. The next morning at checkout, we let the concierge know that the a/c did not work and she made no effort to make any accomodations for the discomfort we went through. She simply smiled and said.. 'Well, I hope the rest of your time in New Orleans was good.' If I could get my money back for the misery of suffering through that, I would do it in a heartbeat.. but the concierge never even acted like she was going to do anything about the fact that the air conditioning was out or that she would save the next customer from misery. DO NOT STAY AT THE CHATEAU DUPRE!!!!!! You may get room 403."

"Just stayed 4 nights at Chateau Dupre in New Orleans. This place was a DUMP! It would not be a bargain at $39...it was an outrage at $209. Elevator was on the verge of a breakdown, floors were filthy and squeeky drapes were torn loose from windows (windows were filthy), maid service was slow and incompete - missing towels one day and skipped one day altogether. I would have left after the first night, but having pre-paid on ordering, I was worried I would not get a refund and would have paid twice."

"We are leaving after staying 4 days at theChateau Dupree. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful girl named Robin. Room was a little dark but clean. We looked out on Decater. Restaurant next door and connected to the hotel was very good. We will return."

"Where do I begin...

First we arrive, get our keys head to our room to find out that door doesn't want to open. I tried then bellman tried so bellman went get another set of keys and those doesn't work either. Door was jammed or stuck and just wouldn't open so we had to go back downstairs to wait for another room. Door opened yay!! Well, we head out to tour NOLA once we got to elevator door wouldn't close. I had to bang on door then finally it closed. I thought, oh my what are we instore for now. Once we arrive back to hotel get undressed and ready for bed. Went to wash up and my GOD, I put hot water to wet my towel and I like to burn my hand. The water was SO HOT!!! Thank God my little boy hadn't turned the hot water on first cause he would've have scold him. Finally we decided to go to sleep. Sleep?? Yay right, the darn mattress was uncomfortable like hell and the sheets were rough. I didn't sleep much and once I finally did, when I woke up my back was hurting like hell!! It's time to leave now, so I head out to parking lot where bellman/hotel person told me to park. Little did they say that park at your own risk and that you have a certain time to get your car. So I head to get my car and they have a BOOT on it!!! Yes, a BOOT!! I was pissed!! I had to pay $110.00 for having my car parked longer than I was suppose too. The hotel should tell customers about parking laws and charges. Also, we weren't the only was who had a SURPRISING BOOT on our car. This other lady and family was also HIGHLY PISSED as well. So to sum it up, Chateau Dupre has LOST 2 CUSTOMERS in oneday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER stay her again that's for sure! I rather pay higher rates at a well known Hotel than staying at a rinky-dink hotel and a terrible parking lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
