"Attended a trade show and found this hotel on line. It has a lot of character and the staff is outstanding, way better than your run-of-the-mill hotel chains. The hotel has a number of restaurants within walking distance and is right on the trolley line (although it wasn't running during my visit). I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again."

"We stayed at the Avenue Garden Hotel for only 4 nights during the Jazz Festival in May, 2012. We were so impressed with everything this Hotel had to offer us that we are planning another trip from Australia same time for same reason next year. There is one thing above all that will bring us back each year (if possible that is) which is the mud cake served up with the continental breakfast. Coming from Australia we get the cheap immitations of this delicious cake but this is the original, the real deal, a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you for your warm welcome so late at night. "Fell in love with this hotel! I felt like I was old friends with the staff when I left. It felt like I was the only one staying there (in a good way). Perfectly located in between the French Quarter and the Garden District, its mins to each by way of the bus that runs constantly with stops right on the corner. The street car was down for maintenance while we were there.
Three great restaurants right outside the door! One open 24hours! The hotel just exudes old New Orleans charm!! Our room didn't really have a view, cause we were in back. But our window was covered in old southern moss with an old brick building in the back round. At night the lightning gave the vines an awesome effect. So every room I am sure has its own special charms. You would be a fool not to stay at this place and love it like I did!!

" nice if you can get a good rate. We got a double for $109. Room was a little worn down but clean and comfortable. Door knob to the room was loose. Could be easily fixed with a screwdriver. Old kind of TV and kind of a hodge podge in regards to furniture and decorations. Felt like we were staying at a Grandma's cluttered house. Kind of different. Also, you actually use real keys to get in hotel and room. Shower had a little drainage problem (ended up with water around my ankles). Could be easily fixed. Cute little courtyard. Have to park in the street since they have no on site parking. But felt safe and nothing happened to car. Have to load in through front door which had stairs to climb. Could be an issue if you have big bags, although they helped carry them in. Staff was extemely friendly! Very nice and accommodating. Check in was a breeze. I wouldn't stay for more than a night or two, but if you are on a tight budget and just need a place to sleep, this is the place for you."

"Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our stay. The room was a bit on the smaller side (according to my husband) but I was fine with the size. We loved the decorations. Also, the hotel was in a GREAT location. It was in between VooDoo BBQ--get the pulled pork bc it is AMAZING-- and Slice Pizzeria. Also located near the Blind Pelican--a quaint lil pub and restaurant-- and several other cool places to eat. Trolley stops right putside of hotel. The size of our room was comparable to that of a bedroom with an ensuite. They thoroughly cleaned the room and were always willing to give any tourist attraction info or tips as needed. Will stay again!!!! Good value and quality for the price. Also it is located directly on the Mardi Gras Parade Strip so be sure to book your room early! :)"

"This hotel was great. It was right next to a streetcar stop which gave you access to everything you need to see in NOLA. The rooms were simple but pleasant. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help if I had an issue. Nearby food options were simple and great for a quick bite to eat after a long day. I stayed with a number of other students here for a conference and the hotel served all our purposes. Not sure if this is a place you want to stay if your used to hotels ranging from $300/night up but if you need a clean bed, friendly service and a great location at a low price I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat. the next time I'm in NOLA I plan on staying here again!"

"Property is neglected and somewhat dirty. Don't look under the beds. Room had a cheap mirror hiding a hole in the wall; a rug on top of the carpet and the bathroom tile grout was dirty and missing in many places. Web site is deceptive regarding condition of the hotel ( it indicates it is newly renovated) and the amenities. Airport transportation is not provided; maid service is not provided and the continental breakfast consists of instant oatmeal; wonder bread; some danish; coffee and orange juice. There is powdered creamer for the coffee. That is it."

"New Orleans has a loud reputation, but this establishment was close enough to the action for our group to get a good taste of it, but far enough away that we could get a good night's rest before another day's excitement. We didn't spend much time in the neighborhood, but there's a streetcar stop right outside, not too far on foot to the convention center (and not too sketch of a walk). Street noises were a bit much for people used to smaller towns, but not terrible considering the city. Great access to everything we needed, even a pharmacy when one of the members became ill. Breakfast consisted of muffins, danishes, and toast, with coffee & hot water provided as well. There were some exposed outlets in my room, but overall had a good experience."

"We booked 3 rooms when we returned home for a family wedding. Sure, we knew is was a cheap place and hoped for the best.

2 out of the 3 rooms were fine. One however, had a very strong odor and was excessively dark. I went back and asked about the room, and the staff claimed is was a cleaning solution. When I asked for that room to be swapped, they said no, all the rooms were taken. Well, I opened the window to try to vent it, but it never worked. Fortunately, I got my 22 year old to take that room so my wife and I could move upstairs to a more acceptable room which was reasonably clean, but had extensively cracked flooring in the bathroom.

The streetcars were not working as they were repairing the tracks. But, them's the breaks.

Having grown up in N.O. I was aware this wasn't the best neighborhood. However, the street parking worked out fine as I parked a couple blocks down St. Charles. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. My son took me to the Butcher at La Cochon and we all ate great food for a pretty reasonable price.

The continental breakfast was two cakes which were nice: one chocolate, and one cinnamon. Bagels, and packages of grits were also available. Nice china was provided, but the condiments were not well stocked.

I might stay here again by making more specific reservations about room type and location, but I wouldn't recommend it to any of my peers.

"The location couldn't be better. Right on the streetcar line and surrounded by restaurants and bars. We had a fun stay and everyone was very nice while we were there. That is the good part of my review.

Here is the negative...The room didn't get cleaned every day and one of the days they took the pillow cases off my personal pillows and swapped them with some of theirs. The probelm here is that mine were not only much better quality but they also match my sheets at home. I let them know about it as soon as I realized it but they were unable to locate them until after I left town.

After receiving a call to say they had found them I eagerly anticipated their arrival but one never came. After repeated attempts to get information about them I was told at first that they had not been sent yet. Then they were sent FedEx and they would call me back with the tracking number. The next call they said they were sent UPS and they would get me the tracking number. Finally I was told that they were sent regular mail and there is no tracking number and there is nothing they can do about it. WOW!

Needless to say we will not be back!

I found it to be a laid back place to stay which I ilked but at the same time the staff could use some training on how to clean a room and how to keep a promise. If they had never called to say they had found the pillowcases I would not be as aggravated as I am after being told they had them and never receiving them.

"I love this place! I will be returning here as soon as possible, it will be like coming home. I fell in love with the charm of thi Avenue Garden Hotel the moment I walked in. It is cozy, comfortable and beautiful. The people are absolutely some of the most charming gracious individuals I have met. If you are looking for a sterile corporate environment this is not the place for you but if you want to stay in a place that welcomes you like a true friend this is the place to be."

"My love and I took our six month old son on his first big trip to the Big Easy. Our room was old but wonderfully cozy. The staff treated us like old friends from the minute we got there. I had one small problem and it was fixed by the next day. Traveling with a baby is hard, but we were so comfortable at the hotel that we could pad around in our PJs to warm up his bottles and sit on patio for some fresh air and the tinkle of their fountain. The location could not be better! We will stay there every time we visit the city.

"I was in love from the moment I saw this quaint home amidst the big, corporate hotels. The staff was so accomodating, warm and friendly. I loved it! I will stay here each time I visit my daughter who is at Tulane. The streetcar picks up right in front of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. Perfect!"

"My husband and I recentley stayed at the Avenue Gardens. This review doesn't offer enough stars to decribe how wonderful this Hotel made our stay! We were 10 minuets by streetcar (which stops right in front) from anything we wanted to see or do. The staff was soooooo friendly and helpful, never having been to NO before we would have missed part of this experience had it not been for their suggestions. Also if your lucky enough to book at this hotel try the food at the little Tavern on the corner (love the people there also and the food it great.) THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. SEE YOU ALL NEXT TIME!!!"
