 Historical Facts About the Property!

The Andrew Jackson French Quarter Hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located on the site of the famous courthouse where Major General Andrew Jackson was indicted for contempt of court and charged with obstruction of justice. A major general in the War of 1812, Jackson became a national hero when he defeated the British at New Orleans. Jackson incurred the charges of obstruction when he imprisoned the judge who had charged him with contempt. When the future President of the United States appeared in court, he refused to answer the interrogatories and promptly received a fine of $1,000. In 1844, congress ordered the fine with interest [$2,700] to be repaid.

Leaving the courthouse that day, Jackson stopped and spoke to a large crowd that had gathered :
``I have during the invasion of New Orleans exerted every one of my faculties for the defense and preservation of the Constitution and the laws. On this day I have been called upon to submit to their operations, under circumstances which many persons might have thought sufficient to justify resistance considering obedience to the laws, even when we think them unjustly applied, is the first duty of the citizen, and I do not hesitate to comply with the sentence you have heard pronounced; and I entreat you to remember the example I have given you of respectful submission to the administration of justice.``

The hotel is in the perfect location! To your left is Bourbon Street, to your right is the French Market. The balcony was very large and the breakfast brought to our room was excellent. The shower never truly got hot, but I didn't mind because everything else was so nice!

This hotel is perfectly located for a tourist visit to New Orleans. In the centre of the French quarter but one block away from the more raucous Bourbon St, so a quiet nights sleep is assured. The historic ambience of the hotel and it's brick paved courtyard where breakfast is served, is charming.

We stayed in Andrew Jackson for 2 nights and they were amazing. Comfortable beds, complimentary breakfast brought straight to the room. Even though we had 2 queens beds, the room was enough for 4 adults. The backyard is beautiful. Staff is really helpful, especially night auditor LeRoy. Definitely place to stay

We travel a lot and stay in 3 star and 4 star places--2016 we took 7 trips; Beaver Creek, Mt. Rushmore, Amish country OH, PA, Edisto Island, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, and Telluride/Durango/Silverton/Ouray. Yes, we're lucky--but not lucky at Andrew Jackson Hotel. What a dump. Handrail at entrance if literally falling down wobbly. Lobby rugs beyond filthy. Upon checkin given Rm 102--when we unlocked the door we found the room transformed into a Storage Room. They had taken the pillows and thrown t... Read more

The staff was amazing, room was clean and cozy. The housekeeping staff was great, especially Brenda! Every morning, we had complimentary coffee and warm croissants delivered to our room on the cutest silver trays. The room was cleaned every day while we were out and about. We stayed for 4 nights and loved the location. We were able to explore the quarter on foot every day. The hotel is walking distance from a bunch of bars and great restaurants and only a couple of blocks away from Jackson Squ... Read more

Arrived before Check-In Time and was able to leave my bags for no fee. There isn't any parking on spot, but you can pull up and they will valet your car for you. ($45.00 a night, but not bad, most hotels are over $30) When I arrived later my bags were in my room. It was beautiful. The most comfortable bed. It had a balcony off of Royal. Very nice. The service was great. Marisa was very helpful at the front desk. They offered breakfast at your door but we weren't up yet. Would stay here again. It... Read more

Loved the atmosphere, the continental breakfast delivered to the door and the helpfulness of the staff. Was confused by how housekeeping was handled. We had to sign something about what we wanted done in the room. I thought that was weird. The room was kind of gloomy. Better lighting might have helped. Would have liked a refrigerator in the room. It was still a thoroughly enjoyable trip, however, and I would recommend this hotel to others

Great place to stay, excellent location to the French Quarter! The hotel was clean, the staff were all very friendly and the homemade croissants were amazing. This is an older hotel so it is not modern, the room is a little drafty, but this is new orleans you are in historic city! The courtyard is nice. Would stay here again!

We had a great time at this hotel. The staff was great and the property was amazing. We had a great time visiting the French quarter. The view from room 201 is absolutely amazing when they have the umbrella parades going on. Only down side no ghost activity.
