"Hotel is old, creepy, water ran all night long in the bathroom - smells musty. Front desk gave us a room that was already occupied! Elevators too far from front desk if in rooms 200 or above - luggage has to be carried from luggage caddy to your room as there are stairs that keep you from rolling the cart to your door. Floor staining was going on where guests had to walk - NOT A GOOD PLACE!"

"The place was as expected and definitely worth the money spent. It was a typical 3 star place. The room was small (a King room) but was fine if you don't plan on spending too much time there. The free breakfast was as good as any. If you are looking for a place within walking distance of the French Quarter (15 min) it was just fine for the price. If you are looking for a squeaky clean place with excellent customer service and a hot continental breakfast this is NOT the place for you."

"After reading the mixed reviews of this hotel I was somewhat reluctant to book but the location and price convinced me to give it a try. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and big enough for us, most of our time was spent out and about so it was just fine. The hotel had a lot of character and was within walking distance of the French Quarter and many good restaurants. When we did need our car we had no problem getting it in a timely manner. The continental breakfast was adequate and the original brick walls and wood added to the charm. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay at the Ambassador again."

"For the value, this was an awesome hotel. It's location was perfect; walking distance to downtown hotels (for a conference), the waterfront, the French quarter, and the Warehouse district. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the bar down stairs had decent food at reasonable prices. As for the room, the thermostat worked great, but the water pressure wasn't very good (we were on the fourth floor) and the water sometimes wasn't very hot. My only other complaint was that the door key kept deactivating and not working for the room, but they could easily fix it in 10 seconds at the front desk."

"Moldy smell throughout the hotel. Wallpaper peeling in places.
Terrible hotel.
The wooden floors in the room were buffed to the point of being extremely slippery. You seriously can't wear socks on the floor. My girlfriend and I both had a hard time walking around the room without falling on our faces. Note to all plaintiffs' lawyers: hang out in the lobby of this hotel and keep an eye out for guests walking out with head injuries.
The non-slip mat in the bathtub was peeling up, with a gross red stain underneath.
The breakfast was unimpressive: just bread, coffee, and juice.
I paid $85 thinking I had found some incredible last-minute deal. Although $85 is cheap for something fairly close to the quarter, this place is a real dump. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone."

"The rooms were small, stuffy, loud and had rodents. The staff was cool at best and non-responsive to our needs. We had guests raging until 3:30 AM and no action taken by the staff to remedy the issue. The location was excellent but the hotel did not meet minimum standards for a hotel in that area. We would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends or relatives."

"What a disappointment! You will get a little of the flavor of New Orleans and it's history but you get a lot of negatives also. The bed was so hard that my husband and I both pulled the covers and sheet up to see if we were sleeping on the box springs and they had forgot to put the mattress on top. We asked to change rooms but were told that all the rooms have the same kind of beds. We slept so little that we were ready to leave at 3:00 AM the last night, rather than spend another night lying in pain. The original hardwood floors are beautifully kept, but unfortunately all that wax makes walking on them a true test of agility. We were unable to wear socks only or we would slide and fall. The floors were also very dusty. The bathroom door only opened up far enough to let you enter as the door hit the toilet. The section of black mold on the bathroom ceiling seemed to be minor compared to the other inconveniences and hazards. And, we should have been told we would have to pay an extra $10 per day for amenities we did not need or use. I would have picked a little nicer hotel at a little higher price. Will not be going back even though the staff members are very nice."

There is an extra $9.95 a night for amenities...whether you use them or not. This is an older hotel...the pipes made some noise. I asked them to change the lightbulbs in our bathroom and they did not.

"Definitely wouldn't reccomend this hotel to anyone. My purse was stolen in a local business with my room key in it; I immediately called the hotel that my purse had been stolen and to lock down my room, it was the slide key that can be locked down , I know this because I worked for a huge hotel and casino group and guess what the Manager on duty I spoke with didn't lock down nor did he secure my room to keep us from being robbed of ALL of our belongings. Thing was the only way to the rooms were thru the hotel lobby and the group who snached my purse, I even descibed to the Hotel Manager, they still let them in making me believe it was difinitely an inside job. Sure I learned a valuable lesson not to leave your key in the insert you get at check-in with your key inside. This is how they knew what room we were in at the hotel. But as I said if the manager on duty had done his job and secured our room, we would not have been robbed of all our belongings the first night we were in town, and our whole weekend was ruined by thieves."

"If you are looking for a quiet, dark hide away for the weekend, the Ambassador may not be for you. If, however, you are looking for a true New Orleans experience, for a reasonable price in a good part of town, then the Ambassador will be right up your ally! The hotel is in an old, renovated warehouse, so there are some quirks that come with a building that old...yes, the floors squeek, the walls are fairly thin, and sounds echo. (Heavier drapes on the doors and windows would not go unappreciated.) The valet service could also be a little quicker on their feet. However, with the original hard wood floors, beams, brick and stucko througout the hotel, and the really spacious rooms with their antique furniture and wrought iron beds, the rooms are absolutely beautiful! All of that taken into consideration, yes, we will definitely stay there again! The atmosphere and location make it a wonderful choice and we were NOT disappointed!"

"I picked this hotel because of its historical references. It is a older hotel, but I love the gas lights outside and the hardwood floors in the room. Now the first room that we had was over looking the street but i asked to move because the room is above the bar which was pretty loud. The manager was very polite about moving us,which i was very happy about. The only thing that i didnt like was the room was either humid or freezing I guess this is because it is a old building, I also did not have a alarm clock and the only thing that we had was a thin blanket,But it was cool because sometimes they had cookies at the front desk."

"My husband and I booked this room due to it's location near the Superdome. We had tickets to a concert that began at 4:30pm and asked if they would adjust the 4pm check in time and would NOT budge. We then asked if we could check in after the concert and was warned that we had to do it by 12am or we would lose our room(that was booked 2 months in advance. My husband left the Superdome at 3:00 pm to check into the room and when he arrived there at 3:30, they made him WAIT until exactly 4pm to check into the room. Very poor customer service. My husband missed the first 30 minutes of the concert. Also, upon checking out, I gave our valet ticket to the ONE parking attendant and as we were waiting on our vehicle, He WAS WIPING WINDOWS and we had to ask for our car.
I was very displeased with this hotel and will not stay here again. There are way many other nice, valuable and accommodating hotels in NOLA. "

"While the hotel is close to the area for children's attractions and some decent resturants, i would not recommend it. Concierge was not knowledgeable about the area, rooms are noisy due to no insulation, hardwood floors squeak loudly, cannot block light from hallway into your room at night, breakfast was not very good, and they did not have the room we reserved. We specifically reserved a king bed because my husband is very tall. They only had a queen bed and they took a little money off the parking bill. I would not recommend this hotel!"

They did offer to comp our resort fee (that we were unaware of) and did offer a Queen room. When we walked into the room there were no windows. Since I am closterfobic I immediately started to panic and called down to the front desk....they did some searching and did find us a Queen room with windows....The overall experience was not the best. We did have a clean room with windows but in the future I will pay more for better service, guaranteed room size and to be a little closer to everything."

Positive: We travel through New Orleans every summer on our way back home from Florida... this year we decided to try a new hotel. Hotel location was nice. We were able to walk a short distance to the French quarter & other popular sites during our stay. Check in staff was very friendly. The building has a old fashion feel to it, wood floors, brick walls, cast iron beds, rooms were clean and roomy. The continental breakfast was NOT GOOD, very disappointed considering the look and feel of the hotel we expected more, it was by far the worse continental breakfast we have ever had and the presentation was sloppy and ugly, it did not fit this hotel. The concierge was very knowledgeable and friendly, she booked our tours and gave us great coupons for dinner.
Negative: We arrived at 8:30 in the evening after a 10 hour drive from Daytona, when we checked in for our reservation we were told there were no more double bed rooms available, which is what we had reserved on line, there were four of us so we needed the 2 double beds, the check in staff took a minute and left to go speak with the hotel manager, when she returned she said they could give us a king and would provide a portable bed, at that point the manager came out and apologized and assured us just for this night we would have the king room and the next morning we could move into a double room with no problems, she also waived the 9.95 a day fee and gave us half price parking for our two day stay, this manager was very helpful, pleasant and professional and went out of her way to make sure we received our portable beds and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable for that night, we were a little irritated when we first checked in but the check in staff and awesome manger on duty sympathized with us and took great care of my family, which in return took our irritation away, great customer service will go along ways IF it is provided. The next morning I sent my husband down to get our new room key for the double bed room we were promised so we could get settled into our new room, when he returned he said there was a new manager on duty and per this manager we had to be out of the king room by 12:00 and were told we could not have a new room until 4:00, I was upset, so the hotel made a mistake and were kicking us out of the king room and would not LET us have a new room until 4:00, I understand rooms need to be cleaned and turned over for the next guest but you would think they would clean a room for us asap considering they made the overbooking mistake, kicking a guest out of their room and not letting them have a new room until 4 hours later is not acceptable! My husband spoke to the manager and we ended up keeping the king room just because of the inconvenience but this was our choice, the new manager on duty did NOTHING to accommodate my family, very disappointing! So hats off to the evening manager Saturday and thumbs down to the Sunday manager on duty. Would I stay here again, most likely not.

"I was a little concern with all of the Neg reviews from the hotel. I arrived about 5 hours early and wanted to check in the front desk said they didn't have any rooms and I would have to check in around 3:00pm the lady was super nice then she looked in the computer and was able to find me a room that was ready she even went up to check and make sure it was okay and she let me check in. I paid my parking and my resort fee. The hotel was a little old but clean and quiet. Everyone there was so nice and helpful when I needed anything. They even gave me spots where I should visit. The overall experience was fun and a blast I am already planning for my visit next year can't wait to go back to the 2013 Essences Festival in New Orleans they know how to treat guest and make you feel right at home."

"This hotel is ok. We were able to check-in an hour early at 3 o'clock! The staff that originally greeted us were nice and helpful! But the evening staff were a little rude and uninterested in answering some of our questions! The room was fine but I did notice a lot of squeaking noise when walking on the hardwood floors! Hard to be discrete when moving around and someone is sleeping! Also I noticed there was no refrigerator! The staff quickly informed me that it would be $20 extra per day! We did without! The ice machine was close and worked well! Overall our stay was fine! This room had no view though with no window but everything worked including the hair dryer! Upon departure we were charged $9.95 per day for room fees like the Internet! With all the extra charges your deal is minimal!!"

"Check in was wonderful with very friendly front desk and concierge associates. I noticed a sign at check in that there is a $9.95 charge for their phone service that was mandatory, even though we didn't plan to use their phones. After checking into our room, it was all downhill. It smelled of mildew and when sitting on the beds, they squeeked like crazy! We set the theromsat to 70 because it was so chilly, and it never made it above 62 degrees, so we were freezing. There were also no conforters on the beds. When we went back to the desk to see if we could changed rooms, a wonderfully nice manage was on duty who told us the hotel was completely full. She said the hotel is being renovated but we just lucked out in the 15% that wasn't yet. She did go to our room and was also shocked by the noise of the beds! She felt bad, but could do nothing for us, but told us the general manager would talk to us in the morning. After getting a squeaky freezying nights rest, the only thing the general manager could do was give us our $9.95 back, since we used an agency to book our stay, he couldn't do anything else for us."

Waited until 5 until we finally got into a room, which was on the ground floor next to the street. The room was ok (hardwood was decent)...until I got ELECTROCUTED (seriously) trying to dry my hair. my fingers, hand, and half my arm were numb for a few hours. the plug actually was black. I went to the front desk and they said ok, someone will go fix it...and they didn't - same smokey plug was there for the rest of the trip. Had to re-remind them of this (which they just said 'sorry') and still didn't do anything. Location of the hotel was nice but I don't think I'll return there again. "The Ambassador is well situated for tourists. Walking distance to a variety of restaurants, shopping and trolley into the French Quarter. Rooms good size with exposed brick walls. Would have liked a window that looked out on something other than a wall. Very good continental breakfast...good variety. Loved the Concierge. She was extremely helpful and friendly. She worked with us daily to make sure we had a great experience."

"I had no problems with the hotel. We were very pleased with our entire trip and the process of planning. Everyone I encountered was helpful. I always say you need to read all the fine print and the terms and conditions carefully. Then there you shouldn't have any surprises or extra cost that you are not aware of. If you're looking for luxury then this is not your place however, if you're looking for a clean, reasonable, and budget friendly place then here you go. I recommend the Ambassador Hotel, thanks."

"Hotel was nice got to our room and too small wanted a king bed had a queen that sloped to the middle. We went with friends, their reaction to the room the same as ours. So called down for a king bed the manager called me back told her we needed a king bed and asked for a upgrade. She checked into it and for 15 dolars more she had one so all 4 of us looked at it. It was great the best room I have been in king bed sofa bed lounging chair flat screen tv hard wood floors which are very slippery, and very spacious. She said she had another so we took this one and they went to the other. Which they found out it was a king bed but not a bigger room. They talked to the manager and she agreed to wave the extra charge. She was very helpful and all staff great. The bar does not open until 4 and then they close when ever they want. If not busy...if you have people in there buying why close? The hotel parking what a ripe off if you are a guest it should be free. We stayed 4 nights and with the parking and the internet you have to pay for even if you never use it then our upgrade of $15.00 a night we ended up paying more in the extras than we did for the room."

"The hotel and room was nice. Old but it had character. It was clean, but the wood floors were a little slippery, but nicer than carpet that is at times dirty. Beds sort of noisey, don't get why, but when you rolled over they were noisey. Overall experience was good. I would stay there again. It was close to everywhere we wanted to go. Staff was very nice and helpful."

One was an additional $128 in parking and also a mandatory charge for using a phone and internet even though we told staff we would not be using these services. The room in our hotel was not clean. I am sad to stay that will be recommending this hotel to anyone"

"Unfortunately, the nights we were staying at the hotel, there was a major construction project going on outside the hotel and we didn't sleep for 3 nights. This is not totally the hotels fault, but we were put in the front room, facing construction and on the 2nd floor. They really should not have booked people in those rooms. Not sleeping for 3 days gave us a somewhat poor impression of the hotel itself, and they were unwilling to do anything about it include credit us anything on our bill. They did credit the amenity charge which was about $30. There were also a couple of maintenance problems in the room, phone not working, AC had to be fixed, alarm clock not working. Staff was very friendly about fixing things. It was a neat building, being an old warehouse of some sort with lots of brick, high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows."

"I wouldn't let anyone I know stay at this Roach Motel. The hotel is terribly run down. The staff is unfriendly and cold, except for the guys who do the valet parking. They were nice. The room was hideous! The beds creaked and were uncomfortable. The floor boards creaked worse than the beds. My sister's sheet was dirty!!! The breakfast was a joke. The surly man who was in charge of breakfast had an argument with a German family because they came into the 'ball room' at 9:30 AM. He kept tapping his watch and saying that 'breakfast is over at 9:30...breakfast is over at 9:30...etc.' There was plenty of horrible tiny muffins left to eat, but he wouldn't get them any coffee. It was embarrassing to watch. What a JERK!!!!"

"We've been here now for 4 days and they have only once cleaned (and that's a stretch) our room. Front desk staff is unfriendly also. My sis in law is here also and her phone didn't work for 3 days because they couldn't figure out how to fix it. If you are looking for ANY kind of luxury or service, this is NOT the place close to the casino so that's a plus. Another negative? Your window either looks out onto a brick wall or....the hallway it'self. No outside windows from what the desk told me. I would never rebook here or come backi here and I am from the south. I didn't expect anything special but I did expect cleanliness and friendliness."

"There were three of us at the Ambassador for a nursing conference. We were not told upon check-in that there was a $9.95 fee per day for internet and the gym that we did not use. We also were not told that there was a continental breakfast available every day. We discovered this by accident. Three people checked in, but we had to ask for the third set of towels every day. The staff was friendly, but not very helpful. It was a convient distance for the convention hall."

"It is a super quaint place. We had a very quiet room. Never heard anyone else. We were at the end of the front corridor. The free swamp tour, however, was not worth spending the time. It is really a man made canal. Not at all a swamp. You do see a few alligators, but that is it. It cost an additional $25 each for transportation, that was not included in the free tour. We were with a family reunion type of a group. They young children screamed the entire trip. Maybe we would have seen more of some one had asked them to stop screaming."

"I have stayedhere 6times last 3yrs I love the location staff is always friendly polite and helpful. Needs a little help on cleaning but never bad. I do not like the fact that you now charge for parking first year I have had to pay for parking one of the reasons I choose your hotel FREE PARKING can we fix that. Now the biggest complaint I have is the bar on your lobby is the worst ever I been the bar bussiness for twenty years they were rude outspoken and worst $8mixed drinks I bought I had five of my staff with me all said the same thing."

My only complaint is my room must have been directly behind the elevator shaft, every time someone went up or down it was a horrible roar. "We were very disapointed! The room was supposed to be ready at 4:00 P.M. We got there at 4:15 and it was not ready. We left to go get something to eat and when we got badk at 6:00 there was still a problem about our room. No one knew where we were supposed to be or who had the key. Then we were hit with a big surprise...the parking was $32.00 @ day. We were told that parking across the street was $29.00 and they would match it, but when we got the bill they didnt match it.. Then they charged us $10.00 @day for a phone...we told them we had a cell and didnt need their phone, but it was still a charge they always put on the bill. The room was very nice! No. we will not go back ...at any price!."

"We had booked a king bed deluxe room, when we arrived we were given two full beds and we were told that the following day we would get our king bed This room only had one window about a foot narrow. The beds were very unconfortable and creaked. The next day we didn't get our room until late in the afternoon and the bed was just as bad as the other beds, you could feel the springs in the mattress. We did have a window that was a little bigger but not by much. On the face of the sink on the right hand side it was missing two tiles that made the bathroom look rundown. The bathroom toiletries were minimal and not of good quality. They provided free continental breakfast, but if you did not get there early you lost out because they did not replenish the items once they were gone and there were days when they had a lot of guests. Overall it was not a pleasant experience and I would not recommend this place. The only good I can say about this place it is that it was in a good location as it was close to the french quarter, the casino, Jackson Square, Riverwalk, etc."

"My trip to New Orleans was for a psychology conference in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. If it wasn't for the very personable staff, my hotel stay here would have been pretty awful. The view from the room was a parking garage, there were half full cups of alcohol still in the room when we came in, an earring from a previous person, and tissues stuck up into the bathroom ceiling to 'plug holes.' The walls are also VERY thin, to the point where I could hear someone cough in another room. This is something that got very annoying during Mardi Gras because people are in and out of their rooms at all hours of the night.
Just something to keep in mind! I would say this stay would have been a lot more worth it under $60."

"We found this hotel to be one of the best ones we have ever stayed in..... the staff were very helpful and courteous.
The only fault we could find is that there were no plates supplied for breakfast, you had to use napkins, although there were a variety of cereals none of these were without sugar (Cornflakes or Rice Crispies) but the breakfast had plenty of choice. The first 3 days there was a choice of fruit, but on the Saturday morning there was only one, and the lady who replenished items in the breakfast room did not seem to bothered that they were running out of things. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend it to family and friends and would go back to the Ambassador again."

"We were very disappointed, the hotel was supposed to be a 3 star!!!?????
Probably 2 star. The bed, horrible, had never slept iin a bed like that. The mattress must have been 30 years old or more, ripped all over.
We had to ask for a new mattress, they brought one but it was not good either. Because of that I was very illed, I had to go to a therapist, it was so painfull, it took 45 min to the dr, to take the pain away an one hour massage efore leaving New Orleans.
I guess there are hotels tht never get checked out to see if the quality is good
But I will like to say that the personnel was very kind."

"When we got to the room it was tiny AND the linens were strewn on top of the desk by the door unfolded, and definitely not clean. SOOO, We go down stairs and ask for a CLEAN room with the bed made. The next room we went to the bed was made BUT there was no comforter. It was late, we were exhausted so we lay down and froze all night with only a sheet and fuzzy blanket between us. The next morning, we wake up and decide to check the weather before heading out and ended up playing where in the world is the remote before our showers. Thank you android for small favors such as the weather channel app because we never found that remote. This place supposedly has a light continental breakfast, let me tell you what that means, get down there before the coffee and doughnuts are gone and the staff start putting it away so they have enough for themselves. No one was rude to us and from the outside this place looks promising, but like momma always says 'looks can be very deceiving baby'. Very dissapointed with my stay and will stay elsewhere for sure. Oh and there is a MANDATORY fee of $9.95 for phone, wifi . THIS IS NOT WORTHY OF A 4 STAR NOR A 3 STAR HOTEL RATING. If you have low standards, Maybe you'll enjoy it here. Bless your little heart!!"

"Overall the Ambassador *could* be a good hotel if some effort was put into the place. It seems like the hotel fell short on all of the small details that could have made the hotel stay a better experience. Here were the issues I had:
-Mandatory $9.00 a day charge for phone and internet they charge in addition to what you pay through BookIt or I assume any other site.
-Hotel needs upkeep badly. Hotel beds were old, sheets were ill-fitted, paint was discolored and faded, room had dust bunny in corner, phone was filthy (and probably from the 80s), and windows had paint smears and dirt on them.
-Staff was hit or miss. The people at the front desk were professional but not friendly, and the people assisting with luggage were all but non responsive. Getting bags stored took 25 minutes of waiting for someone to come back.
- All the little details were lacking. No water cups. A coffee maker, but no disposable coffee cups. The 'continental breakfast' was coffee, OJ, cereal packs, and some mini-muffins.
All in all, not horrible however without a doubt not worth the price. Spend the little extra a night and stay somewhere else, or, if you are hard pressed for cash go with a larger chain discount hotel. While a large chain location may not have the same 'unique southern style' you won't have to deal with all of the dozens of shortcomings you have to deal with here.

"Mine and my daughters first time in NO....got booted within 20 minutes of arriving..all resolved with company, just think it would be helpful if front desk alerted the guests NOT to wait to pay for parking...!!!! They were fast to boot, no doubt! The staff was friendly...especially the young man that parks the cars. I was extremely disappointed that after arriving and actually inquiring about maid service, we were told there was not any due to the owners not wanting to pay the help overtime??!! I was very upset as when I make my own bed daily and then travel, pay $85.00 average a night for a room, to not have it cleaned for 2 days was unacceptable. I do feel a credit should be issued for one of the nights. Other than that, the stay was enjoyable and I would stay there again, just would be sure to inquire about the maid service!!!"

"Fortunately we did not let our bad experience at this hotel mar our stay in New Orleans.
Most of the staff were rude and unhelpful, the service was poor, the management support was less than adequate and the continental breakfast was the worst I have ever experienced. The basic tools required to eat a meal - knives and/ or plates were not allowed to be issued. Toast had to be buttered with a spoon on a napkin on the table. The service was atrocious and the server ungracious. For booking on-line we were penalised by being presented with the second rated rooms which were filthy and had exposed, splintered floor boards and no wifi access (despite the $8.99 p/n resort charge that claimed to include wifi). After moving rooms twice (first for the splintered floorboard then from a room that had no curtain over a venetian blind) we had a room with salt damp and crumbling plaster falling from the walls! Beds were noisy and rickety with sagging mattresses and the doors of the closet were warped.
The free Jean Lafitte swamp tour we got for booking through Bookit.com was excellent and highly recommended. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the French Quarter, Canal Street, Bourbon Street and the Riverbank Precinct which is probably the best thing about it. Staff can't even tell you how far away something is by taxi so don't bother asking!"

"First of all, our room did not have a window...it was DARK. Second, I found a used washcloth hanging on the shower rod. I also found a plastic razor cover on the edge of the bathtub. Obviously the bathtub had not been cleaned. The room was very dusty and dirty. We did not get much sleep here due to a lot of noises: evertime someone ran the shower we could hear the water draining, everytime someone walked we could hear the floor creaking, and sounds of cabinet doors slamming were heard every morning. Oh yeah, and when we went downstairs to get breakfast, the employee was removing the food as we were trying to put it on our plate! And we were down there early to eat! Overall, this is my worst experience staying away from home. I travel frequently and have stayed in New Orleans countless times... I would NOT recommend this place to anyone"

"Been to New Orleans many times and like to stay different places each time. Ambassador is in a convenient location without too much walking to get to 'the fun' (and it's nice to be away from the noise). It is an older hotel but it is NOT run down and we found it charming (girls weekend). My only complaint was the lack of a window in our room (was it day or night out??) and dust bunnies on the floor (but we took a wet towel and cleaned it). Our room/sheets/towels were clean however and staff was very accommodating and friendly. I definitely would recommend staying here."

"We had a wonderful stay at Ambassador Hotel. The room was large as well as attractive. Most everything was within walking distance from the hotel."

"My husband and I love our trips to New Orleans. We usually stay at Harrah's Hotel & Casino, which is a beautiful place. Harrah's was sold out for a few of the nights we wanted, so we stayed at the Ambassador Hotel. The location of the hotel is not what we consider to be 'adjacent' to Harrah's, but it was not far. Every employee of the hotel couldn't do enough for you --- very friendly and pleasant. The room served its purpose. Was not pleased that we could not get clean towels by 3 in the afternoon, and only had a bath mat one day out of three.... Not too sure we would stay again unless our choices were very limited. "

"Overall experience was a good one. Rooms were small but it's New Orleans so how much time do you actually spend in the room? Room was very clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again."

"We booked a 3 day special with a non smoking/ king. The room we were given was a queen and was so small that we barely got the luggage cart past the door. We were moved to a better room but the floor was so rough that there were nail heads protruding and the end of one board stuck up so far that we kept tripping on it. The second day we were given neither hand towels or bath mat. The hotel description listed 'Free Valet Parking' but the clerk said that the charge was $32. I asked if that is daily and was assured it was a one time charge. Upon check out it was billed as a daily charge.
On a positive note, the desk staff were responsive and very helpful and the sports bar, while noisy, had excellent food and lots of it.

"The hotel was very nicely located near all we wanted to see and do. The room was clean, cool, and VERY comfortable. We really enjoyed the stay at the Ambassador. Everyone was pleasant, professional, and helpful. The staff was great, great price and included parking (that's quite a plus!). Breakfast was limited but in a beautiful room. Rooms not big enough for a FAMILY of more that 3, but great for a get away. We would stay again and/or recommend this site. "

"The Ambassador was exactly how I thought it would be from all the reviews. You can't expect a 5 star room for the price we paid. As long as the room is clean & it's in a safe area, I'm pretty much okay. My only complaint though is a BIG one and will make me look elsewhere my next visit. The mattress was SO UNCOMFORTABLE, my husband & I both had terrible backaches the entire stay...and neither one of us have back ailments. It's too bad because other than that, we would stay again."

"Our Hotel stay was a very nice stay.
The Ambassador Hotel New Orleans staff were 'Great'.
I know that they have had bad reviews, however my friends and I did not experience any of those bad experienced mentioned by many.
True, it is an older hotel, but it was pretty well maintaned. I liked the brick walls.
We had clean linen; the beds were comfortable; hot water.
The staff were very accomodating, the food decent.
I'd stay over with them again. "

"We had a great time. Service was excellent, Bookit was the only search service with free parking and a Swamp Trip included. Go to Lucy's two blocks away for Saint's fans. The bar in the Hotel was fine. Try Mother's one block away for lunch.
The Hotel is a converted warehouse circa 1854, with brick walls and plankwood floors for a change from the other boring hotels. Free continental breakfast was disappointing bare bones dry cereal, cheap donuts, etc., but free."

"This hotel is a great buy for location, valet parking and for the most part light breakfast. It is in walking distance to french quarters & in the warehouse district. There is an sports bar adjacent to the hotel as well. There are couples things I would want travelers to be aware of....... the rooms get really cold....and in the bathrooms there is a fan that runs continiously...no matter if you have the light on or off....the beds were comfortable...however there is not an conforter on the bed...just sheets and a very thin throw blanket. The old wood floors are nice but housekeeping never really sweep or cleane our floors unless we made a request to do so?...which we thought was odd because dust collects for easily and often on wood floors. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful also. "
