"I was apprehensive to select the 'mystery hotel' I cannot explain how thrilled I was when I finally booked. the hotel was magnificent!! Selecting the mystery hotel made our anniversary that much more special. The agent was so helpful at the front desk and actually put us in street balcony room as requested. The room that was originally booked online was a courtyard room. (which was fine,but we thought it would be fun on the street) AND IT WAS. I cannot wait to go back.

"We were totally in awe of the beauty of this hotel, from entering the front doors, seeing the huge fresh floral bouquet, the shiny floors, to the gold and marble elevators, just everything was top notch. We checked in on Monday about 1:00 and the room was all ready for us. The beds and pillows were the most comfortable ever. The bathroom was sparkling clean, bright and extra large. We loved the soap that made your hands feel so soft.
The only improvements that I would suggest are offering in-room coffee makers with coffee and a small refrigerator.
We stayed 2 nights and give this hotel a 10. It's right in the heart of the French Quarter so when you step out you see it all!! It was always nice walking back into our hotel after being out on the streets of the French Quarter, 2 different experiences for sure! I would stay at this hotel again most definately."

"This is a very nice hotel. Although it is situated on Bourbon Street, once you are inside, it is like leaving one world and entering another! We enjoyed the peace at the pool and relaxing in the courtyards......and also the hustle and bustle on New Orleans literally steps away. We stayed two nights and as we were so centrally located, we did not need to use the car at all. I would definitely rebook this hotel again."

"upon arrival @ 10:30am Ashley informed us that our room would be ready in about an hour. When we returned to the hotel @1pm Andrew advised us that we were wrong and that their staff would never tell us when a room would be ready. You guessed it, it wasn't ready. Normally this would not be a problem but we scheduled a swamp tour.
Again we were told the pool was open until 9p.m. Changed and got to the pool only to find out it is closed at 7pm on Sundays.
Room was nothing like the picture, Pink stains on the wallpaper, one small window.
I would never pay their full asking price."

"We had to wait over 2 hours for our room to be ready past the check-in time. They did not make amends in any way. There was no literature about what to do in the french quarter or brochures of any kind. We had some plastic drinking glasses from one of the bars on the counter by tv and they were thrown away during housekeeping one day. The only reason I would stay again is because it is centrally located to everything."

"This was a great hotel. I was so happy to find out this was the surprise hotel. Upon reading other reviewers, I decided to ask for a quiet room and we got one upon check-in. The room was completely quiet. It was a little cold for me so I asked for another blanket and they brought up a warm comforter. Great service, would stay again especially at the mystery rate. Otherwise, it is a bit out of my price range but worth the full price."

"What we expected was a broom closet room, but was thoroughly surprised to find ourselves in a coveted dormer room on the 5th floor. Spacious, great window view, and 'quiet'. Being on Bourbon Street could have been noisy, but we were surrounded with nothing but silence. If ever offered this 'Mystery Deal' again, we'll jump on it! Excellent on the way around."

"Upon our arrival to the hotel no one helped us with our bags and at check in I was told that my room only had 1 bed. When the reservation was made it stated 2 adults and 2 kids why would they only give 1 bed. I then had to pay an upgrade charge per night to get 2 double beds not queen beds. I was told because we booked with a 3rd party company our requests were considered but not guaranteed (hence the upgrade fee per night). We were then put on the fifth floor with shutters that did block out all the lighting outside and the room thermostat was set on 65 and it never got cooler than 72. The only positive thing about this hotel is its in the heart of bourbon street. I will never stay here again."

The staff is friendly and polite and quick to provide assistance without being overbearing and rooms are comfortable and clean. Be sure to ask for a pool view room at check-in if you don't want to listen to the goings-on of Bourbon St. at night."

The property is located right in the heart of the action on Bourbon Street, but once inside the hotel you are in an oasis of quiet and luxury. Our room on the 6th floor was spacious and well appointed and overlooked the pool and courtyard. Be aware that if you use the hotel's parking garage it will cost you $40.00 per night."

"We traveled to New Orleans en route to my niece's wedding in Florida in Sept 2012. We stayed for 3 nights. It was a beautiful place. Totally unexpected once entered downtown and got onto Bourbon St. My husband and I stayed in the R Club level and had another room for the young adults on a different floor. Both rooms were perfect. We originally did have deluxe and upgraded. Super glad we did. We walked everywhere, including the riverwalk area. Hint, only the young prefer the street side. Patio rooms are awesome too. Planning another trip this year in September."

Notified Security, but, all they did was determine that the only people that entered my room were housekeeping lady and the man that checks usage of the mini-bar and file a report. "Lovely hotel. I've bee going to NOLA for 15 years, and seriously, there are no worries with this mystery. I've stayed at places 1-5 star- this is a true 4. Inside rooms are quiet, nearer to Bourbon everything is noisy...some people come here for that. If this is your first trip to NOLA, this is a great place- but be sure to take at least one adventure away from the Quarter, NOLA and LA has some real beauty, it isn't all tourism."

"This was an excellent hotel. Right on Bourbon and not a lot of street noise. Everyone was so helpful. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The food at Desire is exceptional. The waiter in Desire was one of the best we have seen in a long time. He was efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, always near by when we needed something. He actually seems to love his job. It was great to have underground parking right below the hotel. We will stay here again without question."

One complaint though was that every night we were awakened several times by what seemed like garbage collection or heavy equipment on the street below our window. "Inside balcony overlooking pool, very quiet and peaceful even though crazy loud on the streets. Staff, location, food and facilities wonderful.!!! "Great place! Super friendly staff. The courtyard and pool were so nice and quiet for being right on Bourbon Street - as was our room. The place felt really clean and it was a great location - such a quick walk to Jackson Square/French Market/Cafe du Monde. Loved that you could hear live music in the hotel hotel lobby and the moment you walked out the front door! There are only two things that I would change. The first is that it would have been VERY nice to have a coffee maker in the room. The second was that we asked for a late checkout and even though New Orleans felt pretty quiet (mid-week, mid-March, post Mardis Gras) they said they couldn't accomodate us for a couple of extra hours???"

"I thought I would be risky and try the Mystery Hotel. I was pleasantly surprised, this hotel was very nice and the staff were awesome. Everyone was very helpful. It was quiet and yet in the heart of everything, easy to walk anywhere we needed to go.

"This was a surprise 20th anniversary trip from my husband! We had the best time in New Orleans! This hotel is first class all the way, once inside you don't hear anything going on outside on Bourbon Street. But yet, so close to everything, in the heart of the city! The only thing to be aware of is parking @ $36/day! We didn't move our car once in the 5 days we were there!"

"Excellent location, great jazz club, staff was phenomenal, the rooms were sparkling clean, location was fabulous. I cannot say enough about this hotel. It rates a 10 in every aspect. Trolleys were close by. It may be Bourbon Street from the front but the minute you enter, the noise goes away. Beautiful French doors to the balcony or terrace. Free internet! I have already reccommended this hotel to several friends."

"Terrific value for the money, given the BookIt deal. All comments on the quiet of the hotel (including the rooms) once you're inside are true, although I can't say that this would be the case for Bourbon-facing rooms. On my next NOLA trip, I'll probably stay somewhere away from the main action; the area is a little too busy/touristy for me. But it's extremely convenient to everything, and the property itself is lovely, comfortable and well-maintained."

"I've stayed at many places in New Orleans and usually pay more than I did for this stay. I went out on a limb not expecting much but hoping for a great deal. I had stayed at this hotel once before many years ago but haven't been able to afford the stay since. I was thrilled when I got the confirmation! This hotel is charming, elegant, comfy, and the staff is wonderful. I'm so happy with this stay and I won't hesitate to choose the mystery room next time!"

"The hotel was beautiful as expected. Clean, up to date room with a very comfortable bed. Only negative - they forgot to deliver the champaigne, we had to ask for on checkout. We never did get the coupon book. Other than that, we loved it!!"

"Most enjoyable stay! All of the staff are OUTSTANDING!! We arrived early and room was not ready yet. Left our bags with the bellman, when our room was ready, we picked up the keys went to the room and all the bags were in the room! Highly recommend this oasis in the French Quarter. Only 'Mystery' here was why I'd never tried this before!"

"I recently stayed here. My stay was excellent, from checking in to checking out. The view of the French Quarters was Fabulous. The rooms was very clean. The staff was professional and friendly.
The only area of my stay that I wasn't satisfied in was the hotel restaurant. My guest and I ordered food in the hotel restautant and was charged to my room instead of allowing me to pay directly. Before I knew it I paid the waiter and I was also charged to my room. I immediately handled the problem.
Make sure if you eat there, to check your billing before you check out, and also check the waiter to prevent this from happening to you."
