Beautiful grounds, do saved your money and just drive through in your way somewhere else. Service is poor, bathroom is too small, no convenience items (fridge/ microwave/ breakfast) and parking is a significant weak from hotel entrance if you've got a lot of luggage or materials.

I attended a professional education conference at this hotel. The accommodations were great. They provided lunches and breakfasts as part of the conference. They were simple but very good. The rooms for both the meetings were set up well. the food and drink during the day was taken care of. The hotel is very neat and clean. At night, the bar is busy and the servers friendly.

Was here for a long business stay. This has to be one of the best property in this city. They have excellent staff and rooms. If you are platinum, ask for the concierge wing rooms. Definitely better. Overall I liked my stay except for the concierge lounge. For such a big hotel, the lounge is very small. Tod at the lounge is great and very helpful. Having stayed in other Marriott internationally, I find it odd that the bar in the lounge does not have happy hours. The lounge also gets closed on w... Read more

Having never been to Kentucky I choose Griffin Gate Marriott Resort because it looked like it was near the Kentucky Horse Park, the operator had told me it was about a mile away and we could walk. Perfect I thought then I don't have to worry about parking! Well while the hotel is in close proximity it is not within walking distance so purchase a parking pass if you are headed to the Horse Park. The hotel itself was very nice, with the nicest staff you could ever ask for. The rooms were above ave... Read more

Stayed there during a small business meeting. The conference room was very nice, comfortable and with beautiful views. Catered food was very good and the service was excellent. The sleeping rooms were good, seemed updated. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom very small. Some areas need a little updating but overall very good. They have a nice indoor pool that i did not used but will be perfect if we decide to go back with the grand-kids. The hotel was close to many attractions and restau... Read more

This is your typical Marriott hotel. A little run down but not too bad. As a conference hotel, I would give it a 3-star. I wouldn't call it a "resort" though as the name suggests. As a resort, it is at best a 2-star. The hotel has large rooms with your typical Marriott decor. Standard shower. Room was average, not super modern and not super old. Staff was friendly and helpful there. The food was awful. Concierge breakfast was not eatable. I have been to many concierge at other Marriotts and... Read more

Overall, your typical Marriott property. Good location in Lexington, Kentucky. Nice large lobby when you walk in from the front door. The front desk staff was friendly and was easy to check in. The hotel room was average sized. The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was very small- disappointing for a full service Marriott. Overall, average hotel with comfortable beds.

We stayed 2 nights at the Griffin Gate while visiting Keeneland and other local attractions. There was another couple along with us and our experience was great. From the time we walked in the door it was southern hospitality. The hotel was pretty full but that didn't affect our stay other than parking. We've already started planning for next spring and we'll stay here again.

Stayed for an entire week and had a very nice time. The bed alone is a can't miss. The staff was very very nice, polite and made you feel welcome. The amenities are many and worth while. The bar staff recommended I try the Kentucky Bourbon Ale, glad I did. I had to bring some back to Texas and I am a die hard Shiner Boc guy. I am also a Weller Bourbon guy but could not pass up on trying the Makers Mark at the resort. This is definitely a place to stay in Lexington.

Griffin Gate is one of the recommended places in Lexington to stay overnight. Belongs to Marriott. Rooms are as in other Marriott Hotels around the world. The local team is helpful. Location is convenient and close to the airport (15min) and close to the motorway.

Stayed 3 nights in June for a family wedding. Check in was a bit of to a rocky start. We wanted to check in early and one of our rooms was ready and they told us to come back in an hour. We did and it was not ready then they told us to come back in 20 minutes, still not ready. Told us to call down in another 20 minutes and they'd send up the key cards. When I called down, a really snarky front desk agents snapped at me about check in being at 4pm. I totally understand that, but why tell us to ke... Read more

Driving across country we stayed at mostly lower tier hotels due to the fact we were traveling with our dog. For our last night on the road decided to go more upscale and booked the concierge level king with balcony. Come to find out there was only one concierge lounge on the first floor, we were on the second. Despite the website indicating we were entitled to this, the hotel manager indicate there were several levels of concierge service and we were not entitled to this. The room itself wa... Read more

This was the most awesome travel experience that we had traveling with our Bernese Mountain dog. We were driving from SC to Chicago and want to stay in a four star resort with our dog, which is hard to find. This is a fantastic hotel with a great location, terrific restaurant and the staff could not have been nicer and friendlier. I strongly recommend this hotel for anyone who likes a first class hotel and has a dog as a family member.

I realized that I left my Kindle in my room the day after I checked out of the Griffin Gate. I called the front desk and just a few minutes later they had retrieved it and immediately shipped it to me. The woman I spoke to was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. For a recent business trip to Lexington, I chose the Griffin Gate over the new "hip" hotel in town. My local friends groaned, but I was thoroughly happy with my choice. The Griffin Gate is far from hip -- but they understand the basics and provide wonderful service. My room was spacious and clean. Staff were uniformly friendly and professional (a nice change from the "hip" hotel). The workout room was functional and clean. I didn't get a chance to use the bar or restaurant, but had breakfast in ... Read more

We thought this hotel would measure up to Marriott Resort standards, it did not. We had requested a handicap room, but did not get it because the hotel was filled with a huge wedding party for the entire weekend. The front desk did not try to help us in any way. I hope they made a lot money on the wedding because we will not be back to spend ours again.

Sad really a Marriott resort that has gone down hill a ways. The Deluxe room on the second floor had a view of the gravel on the roof. If the deal is too good to be true it probably is too good to be true. Cobwebs on the window interiors, really! Comfortable bed as it was it had a butt print in the cover when we checked in? The first impression was electronic key cards that did not work. Sad. This was the second Marriott property in two days with the same issue. Parking is a ways from the entry ... Read more

Got a message from hotel after booking thru third party that the room I selected was not available. I prepaid for a deluxe and it was a tiny, tiny room and bathroom for double the price that a bigger room would cost in this town. There was no offer to compensate at the front desk - so my future business and business of horse industry referrals has been lost. Oddly there was a lot of wasted but unusable space in the crowded room and no good place to eat a meal in it - had to remove work stuff fro... Read more

Another reviewer wrote that as a "resort" this property ranks about a 3.5, and as a "hotel" it is a 5. I would agree with this assessment. We stayed at the Griffin Gate for one night as a stopping point on our way home from South Carolina to Indiana in June of 2016. The hotel was at capacity that evening (several weddings and a reunion were apparently taking place), but it did not feel overcrowded. Check-in was smooth, and the staff was friendly. Griffin Gate Marriott is a nice hotel outside of Lexington complete with a nice pool, golf course and Starbucks. Unfortunately the golf course does not have a driving range but the course is very nice. Staff was friendly, comfy beds and free parking. We had a family reunion with approximately 24 people, most of whom were there two nights and five of us for three nights. The adults and children loved the outdoor pool and relaxed atmosphere. When you pay this much for a hotel, you expect top of the line service and room quality. However, when we checked in, they did not have the room that we requested. We specifically reserved two Queens because we were traveling with our daughter. They gave us a king with a cot and it was downhill from there. There was no apology for giving away our queen beds. We go every year for continuing education. My daughter loves the pools which are nice one indoor and one outdoor. The amenities are great but pricey for what you have to pay for (i.e. Room service, spa, ect.). My main complaint are the rooms which are very small and aging. The bathrooms are tiny but clean. The beds are not very comfortable neither are the pillows. I would only recommend staying here if you have a conference, as there are nicer hotel rooms for the same price.

What a great older property. Its close though to going down to a *** star. Way to many maintenance issues not taken care of and consistent lack of communication between management and staff.
