General Butler Lodge is a great choice to stay if you are in the area. The staff is nice. The restaurant is good. The rooms are rustic but updated. I would recommend this place. The lodge is located on many acres. There is a golf course and General Butler's historic mansion. If you are staying in this area, this would be a good pick.

We stayed one night in a one bedroom cabin. We were attending an event at General Butler so it was convenient. We have often stopped to eat at the restaurant (Two Rivers) and enjoy it, so we assumed the we would enjoy the stay. The cottage was clean. That is about all I can say. The decor must have come from the 50's. I am not usually picky about that sort of thing, but it just did not give you a "welcoming" feel when you walked in the door. Also, I kept staring at the couch and wondering... Read more

Beds and pillows are comfortable. The shower water flow rate is good. The WIFI is not excellent but is good. There is no microwave and no refrigerator in the room. The ice maker is close to the wing I stayed in and is very good at providing ice. There is a large equipment area near one wing of the rooms that is noisy. Once the door is closed the room is okay but the noise outside the door along the walk is annoying.

The first room I was assigned to was not made up so I waited about 15 minutes for a new room assignment, which is not the end of the world, but I was arriving late night and tired. The rooms were up to standard for a park resort with large balconies. There is a huge outdoor pool so I can imagine this place is a lot of fun and busy through the summer months. Pet friendly rooms available.

Notable issues -- but worse is that the matters were informed to the front desk, to the KY state park survey, and in direct email to the supposed park manager, with not a single acknowledgement from anyone ... this simply underscores their issues further.... avoid this place if your can ... Pre room matters: ? Check in person at desk was not at all friendly (i.e. whoever was on the front desk Dec 4 prior to Bobbie) ?? did not really greet, did not respond to a question, had a frown at all t... Read more

My family spent Thanksgiving weekend at one of the resort's 2-bedroom cabins/cottages. It was quiet, cozy, and had an amazing river view. Yes, it was a little dated, but not musty or stuffy. We thought the wood-paneled walls and plaid valance curtains were charming! In our cabin (#516) there was a queen bed in one bedroom, and a full and twin in the other. The bathroom was clean and loaded with towels. There were flat screen TVs in all rooms. The kitchen was well equipped with a 3/4 size fridge ... Read more

The girl at the campground told us we could look for another site as the one we'd choosen online was on a hill. We found a site with sewage hook up. Very nice. We hiked the trails and the colors were brilliant. We didn't see anyone on the trails until Sunday afternoon. The campground was closed to being full. The paddle boats were still out and the mini golf was open. We enjoyed going to the lookout and discovered a trail we hadn't hiked. The park now offers free wi-fi

It's a nice campground, the bathhouse was disgusting. Thank God we have our own bathroom. All in all, it wasn't a bad place to go, but when they announced they were turning the water OFF at all of the sites, but would remain open.....

First time going to this park. We stayed in the pet friendly lodge. The room was updated and nice. The only draw back was the beds, there were way too hard and my wife end up sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag. The grounds were nice, Putt Putt was fun and our hike on the trail was great. Would definitely come back in the summer when the pool is open.

I couldn't get in contact with park supervisor no matter how many times I called. Rooms were okay but they're in extreme need of a renovation and upgrade. All in all it was an okay visit. Rooms were clean, workers were nice, and the view was great. My only complaint is that the food was horrible and restraint was dirty. My boyfriend and I actually got sick from eating the food. We aren't picky people, but when the food on the buffet tables is stale and hard, and has film over the liquid foods, ... Read more
