Have camped here many times.Husband & I decided to stay in the Lodge. We have a very nice & peaceful time. Its not the Hilton, but real nice. Many things could be updated, like a mini fridge, microwave for the rooms. But overall they were ok.Loved the balcony that faced the woods.....beautiful view.I was very upset though to see the shape of the over all park. The restrooms in the front of park were dirty, doors off the hinges, and trash all over. The wood to the beautiful lodge is staring to rot.I blame t... this cabin was so smelly, it was like it was sitting right on top of a septic tank! we were supposed to stay two nights, but checked out after one miserable night! The inn itself was nice, the food was great, and so were the people but the room was so awful it cancelled out all the good things

I love coming here and have been here many times. The location is beautiful, lots of wildlife, and the staff are always very friendly. I'd recommend staying in the building/lodge beside the main building on the top floor (200-220) for the most quite and greatest scenery. My only complaint was the food this time. There was a seafood buffet on Friday night. I've had the state resort buffet many times and did not think twice about the quality but this time I was sadly disappointed. The seafood ... Read more

We came here with a large group of friends for The Kentucky Derby. They have stayed here many times and stated it was nice. On first look it does look nice however, the corners in the room were filthy both on the floor and the ceiling. When I got out of the shower (which uses about 100 gallons of water per shower!) I walked across the room floor and my feet were filthy! Also, back to the shower...the water comes out so fast and so hard, it was shin high when I was finished....unbelievable waste ... Read more

Campgrounds are spacious, facilities clean, staff very polite. Wish the state had funds to keep up all the parks instead of picking and choosing where to allocate funds. The past is present and evident of how special the location was. Still for a weekend camping trip worth a visit.

We stayed in a cottage in the park. The furnishings were rustic- except for the ridiculous amount of TVs they crammed into this cottage - complete overkill. As you can see from the picture, the cottages need some sprucing up as there is mold or moss growing on the outside. No maid service on Sundays, but you can go to the desk and get coffee for the morning. The resort has restaurant, but since they made a point of informing us they close promptly at 8:00, we were not able to eat there. To their... Read more

Love the cottages but yes you need to bring the extras i.e. salt n pepper, wood, paper plates etc. Walking the trails and thru the campsite is relaxing. Have dog friendly cottages and sites as well. If you like rustic and relaxing and love wildlife this is the place for you. Staff is wonderful as well. Have been coming here for years.

We've been coming to this park for over 30 years. While the rooms have been renovated, and FINALLY, key cards are being used, it's amazing how little you get for the money. Everyone in our group had something wrong with their room. Ours had a broken light in the bathroom and the toilet needed to be fixed twice. You could hear everything in the room next door. The bathrooms for the pool are disgusting and the restaurant gets overwhelmed with more than 2 tables. Their phone system wasn't working s... Read more

I was in town visiting my childhood home for the first time in 20 years. I was very excited for this trip and at the last minute decided to book a room here instead of one of the local chain hotels. I remember seeing this place when I was a kid back when they had the ski slopes etc. We were able to check into the Lodge without a reservation and the ladies at the front desk were really nice. They informed us that none of the phones in the rooms were working, which is fine we probably wouldn't hav... Read more

The park is really beautiful and quaint and has a lot of potential. However, the overall maintenance and upkeep really needs attention. I read some of the reviews that blamed budgetary cuts which I'm sure has had some negative impact, but the management has to be held accountable to some degree. Lodge rooms that had filthy floors, dirty windows, and disgusting bathrooms. The bedding was clean and comfortable, pool was nice, nice golf course(very tough course), nice little bar, and very cool old... Read more

Stay away from 1st floor pool side. Noise from tv or speaking was not an issue, but walking on 2nd floor our room sounded like someone was moving furniture above. Patio view was a stone wall. Evening entertainment was a family of 5 racoons eating from the garbage can outside the room. Nice size pool..loved it. Lounge was a plus. Lisa was great and the appetizers before 6:30 pm cannot be matched anywhere 1/2 price !!!! TV channel selection was good. Bed was comfortable. Check in, check ... Read more

**This is the campground, NOT the lodge. The staff I encountered were very polite and friendly. However the bathhouse left much to be desired. I was at the campground for 4 days and never saw the bathhouse look clean. The toilet and sink area wasn't too bad other than lack of TP. However the showers were disgusting. Clogged drains, mildew on walls etc. It was very disappointing for a beautiful state park. I was in the lobby, restaurant and restroom in the lodge. All were clean and deserving o... Read more

Spent a few days here with family recently. Stayed in a two bedroom cottage. First off it was not very clean. Outside and inside. We swept the floor because of so much hair on it. And lots of bugs, mostly dead fortunately but still. Both bedrooms had electric clocks but one did not work. A couple of the lamps were bad two. The light over the basin down stairs was flickering the first day. Went out the next day. The furnishing are decent and overall a good stay but as I said it is going down hill... Read more

Restrooms were atrocious. Many repairs and a good cleaning very much needed. Two young girls tried there best, but too much up keep for them. Playground needs trimming and so does around the camp sights. Used to be one of our favorites. KY park systems should be ashamed.

Stayed two nights at the lodge for a conference with my daughter who is disabled and uses a walker. We were assigned to a room down two flights of stairs which had a bath-only tub, no shower; when we explained that this was extremely problematic at the check-in desk, the clerk shrugged. The floor in our room was so dirty, we had to keep washcloths and towels at our bedside to wash our feet before going to bed. On the upside, there were plenty of washcloths and towels.

We were there this past weekend. the pool was very nice and clean. It does need some updating. The bathrooms by the pool were very disgusting..I asked them how long the pool will be open this summer they told me the day after Labor Day.. This is one of our high lights when staying. They should leave the pool open a couple of weeks after Labor Day. I'm a little bummed about it....

I came here with my family for a little getaway from the hustle and bustle of Jersey. My kids were excited to swim, my husband and I were excited for the bar, and we were just ready for a much needed vacation and to relax. Little did I know that this place was the worst place to pick. One of the biggest issues that we had was the extremely difficult time that the front desk gave us. An older woman named Robin checked us in and she was the most unpleasant person I have ever had the displeasure of... Read more

I couldn't get in contact with park supervisor no matter how many times I called. Rooms were okay but they're in extreme need of a renovation and upgrade. All in all it was an okay visit. Rooms were clean, workers were nice, and the view was great. My only complaint is that the food was horrible and restraint was dirty. My boyfriend and I actually got sick from eating the food. We aren't picky people, but when the food on the buffet tables is stale and hard, and has film over the liquid foods, ... Read more

First time going to this park. We stayed in the pet friendly lodge. The room was updated and nice. The only draw back was the beds, there were way too hard and my wife end up sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag. The grounds were nice, Putt Putt was fun and our hike on the trail was great. Would definitely come back in the summer when the pool is open.

It's a nice campground, the bathhouse was disgusting. Thank God we have our own bathroom. All in all, it wasn't a bad place to go, but when they announced they were turning the water OFF at all of the sites, but would remain open.....

The girl at the campground told us we could look for another site as the one we'd choosen online was on a hill. We found a site with sewage hook up. Very nice. We hiked the trails and the colors were brilliant. We didn't see anyone on the trails until Sunday afternoon. The campground was closed to being full. The paddle boats were still out and the mini golf was open. We enjoyed going to the lookout and discovered a trail we hadn't hiked. The park now offers free wi-fi

My family spent Thanksgiving weekend at one of the resort's 2-bedroom cabins/cottages. It was quiet, cozy, and had an amazing river view. Yes, it was a little dated, but not musty or stuffy. We thought the wood-paneled walls and plaid valance curtains were charming! In our cabin (#516) there was a queen bed in one bedroom, and a full and twin in the other. The bathroom was clean and loaded with towels. There were flat screen TVs in all rooms. The kitchen was well equipped with a 3/4 size fridge ... Read more
