Hotel was great, accommodating to dogs and humans. Room was quiet, nice couch, internet connection was great too. The food was good and all of the staff from food to front desk to room service was great.

There is nothing near this hotel. So you are stuck at their restaurant and bar. That being said, both are nice and the bar had a KC micro-brew. The room was nice. Ask for one away from the atrium (they have several). Room was clean. 4 cup coffee maker (unheard of at most hotels) a plus. Big room. Quiet. Nice business center. Rate was ok. Again, the only downside is that you can't walk to anything. (Property is located on the former state fair grounds.)

The hotel was very nice, the staff was friendly from arrival, to the wait staff in the grille and the desk staff during our stay. Everyone was very nice. The rooms are a little dated, but were comfortable and clean. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family and would be happy to stay there again.

This use to be our go to place to stay. They have gone down hill in regards to cleanliness. The perimeter of our room had a build up of dust nearly 4 inches out. I noticed it in the hallway leading to our room also. The stairway leading to the bar area was filthy. Same issues as well as food particles. The pool deck area wasn't cleaned for the entire 3 days we were there. People had left there trash and some food laying around. For the cost of the room you expect higher quality. I did call it... We were there for a dog event, with people from all over the country. Housekeeping staff went out of their way to be helpful, and they seemed to genuinely like our dogs. I was very satisfied with the cleanliness of the room, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. My only problem was lack of Wi-Fi. Apparently the router for my part of the building was not working, so I had virtually no internet access for three days. Hotel staff tried to fix it but were not successful. When I tried to use the ... Read more

I was attending a large dog show and stayed at the host hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff was terrific. In the 25 years I have attended dog shows my dogs have never so much as urinated in a room. Unfortunately, my dog got out of his crate and dug a hole in the carpet. I immediately notified the management. They were truly kind as I was devastated. They charged a $250 fee for the damage which I thought to be exceedingly fair. It would have been nice if there were more elevators. Also, it ... Read more

Loved the Embassy Suites feel. Wished it was more like an Embassy suite with breakfast and drinks in the evening and updated room decor. The pool was fantastic and the staff made up for the lack of modern conveniences in the room. I would go back.

Even though this hotel is attached to the Convention Center, it was a long walk. Fortunately, there were benches along the way for resting. Suggestion: it's much shorter to cut through the parking lot! We requested a handicapped room, but the side of the tub was so high, my roommate couldn't access it. There were trade-offs for a semi-accessible room ... there was no counter space in the bathroom and no fridge or microwave. However the toilet was handicapped height, and that was very important t... Staff are very friendly & helpful. Facility is nice & very clean. Banquet services excellent. For events at adjacent conference center, hotel is next door & also has covered indoor walkway to convention center in the event of bad weather. I would recommend this hotel for any type of stay there.

The breakfast buffet was very good and fresh. The elevators were slow. The water is very, very soft....amazing. The hotel is clean in all areas. The staff was quite helpful. The conference center next door makes it a win win for visitors.

Great facility and the staff was phenomenal. I left my tablet our room and had no idea until I got home from our trip. I stay in a lot of hotels for business so I had no clue where it could have been. I received a call from the manager Kevin Smith and he told me a housekeeper found my tablet in our room. I do not live in Kansas so he shipped it to my house with his own money. Everything from the rooms to the staff are outstanding. I would highly recommend this hotel if trying to find a place to ... plenty of space. hot outside, but we enjoyed living in the hotel. (I find this form frustrating. I almost didn't attempt it a second time because it wasn't satisfied w. my first try. ) But we did feel at home at the hotel, living inside the hotel for 3 nights - no problem . . friendly service and home atmosphere. (I don't understand while it wouldn't have been enough to fill out this page) . . . price and cleanliness and friendliness - all good. / Wm

I enjoy staying at Capitol Plaza not only for their rooms but the registration staff is always great. The wait staff at the grill was great in helping me find something that would fit my personal meal needs, that wasn't on the menu. The rooms are always clean and well taken care of everyday.

We had a wonderful visit to Topeka, KS. The hotel was recommended by front desk employee, Kimberley Jacob. It was more than we could have asked. The rooms were lovely and very clean. The common areas were very nice also. The staff was outstanding. A special shout out to Brandon and Jesus in the restaurant. Last minute baseball tourney in Topeka and 8-9 families decided to get room for the night instead of driving back to KC. There was a reason why all other hotels were full, and this one open one day out! However, everytime we gathered in the lobby or restaurant/lounge, even to eat early dinner for 20 people, the server would stop anyone that had an outside personal cup and say, "you can't have alchohol on first floor, please remove it" - at 4:30 pm! It was 110 that day, so lot's had Sonic or o... Read more

Hotel having trouble processing cards, checked in successfully to later be locked out of our room like criminals. Provided one swipe to retrieve credit card and then finally convinced them to try it again and it worked just fine. Hotels issue and they were rude and never apologized.

Exterior is in good condition and lobby area is very nice so we thought we were getting a great price on our room ($ 90). However when we got to the room it was definitely outdated. The carpet was worn and seemed dirty along with the loveseat. I also chose this place over others because it seemed to have a good location but there really isnâ??t anything to do close by unless youâ??re going to an event at their center.

This is a nice hotel, especially for the price. Ask for the quietest room in the hotel and you'll get the top floor, at the end of the corridor. There was very, very little noise. It was great. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There is no minifridge or microwave, which I could've used, but no major complaints otherwise. HOWEVER!!! If you stay here and you use the lamp to plug in your phone, be SURE that you leave the switch on by the door. I didn't use the lamp for light so didn... Read more

We checked in for three nights for basketball tournament in Lawrence. At check in I was told we could park our motorhome in the parking lot which we do at hotels all the time. The next morning the manager told us we could not park it there and was pretty rude about it. He stated because they were full. But the parking lot wa not full but he didn't care and didn't offer any apology or consideration. We checked out and left never to return.

Checking was quick, room was nice, two big queen beds, TV, decor was up to date, beds comfortable, towels were quality and not just cheap. Breakfast was a little pricey at the hotel itself. The lounge was nice, KS law has them closing at 11 pm though. Good location, not to far to travel for movies, dining and link into the interstate. Check out was a breeze. All the staff was very friendly.

The staff was very nice. Room was easy to find and roomy. Wifi worked well. However, it was not clean. There was a bag of old Funions in a drawer and a dog large chew under the bed. There was thick coat of dust in many places like pictures and lamps, the carpet was bubbled and the room didn't smell great. The pillows felt ok but are tiny and both of our backs hurt from the beds. The tv remote only worked when about 10 inches away from the tv (front desk confirmed this). We enjoyed the pool whic... Read more

Great location for our purpose. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, check in and out was quick and easy. We did not utilize any of the food services or pool so I am not able to comment on those. The bed was very comfortable, room and bathroom area was clean. A wonderful experience, just needs a continental breakfast for this economical guest. You can stay across town for less money and a great breakfast included. My wife and I spent two nights at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka, Kansas. We were attending a weekend get-together of about 100 people from across the state who meet each year in August. The hotel was very comfortable, with some nice special touches, such as chocolate chip cookies at check-in.
