Great motel off the interstate. Price is reasonable and only a couple miles off the interstate in Colby, Kn. Built before I 70 it has been brought up to date but one does not have to pay the high rates charged by those hotels on the interstate. Great pizza place right down the street.

We stayed at the Budget Inn Colby Kansas on April 18th, 2016 only because the reviews all stated that it was so clean. When greeted at the desk I was told that our reservation was for the day before the 17th. But they would honor it anyway; as they had already charged my credit card including the dog fee. This seemed strange to me that they would charge me an extra clean up fee for a dog not present; but since we were there and the charge had already gone through... When we got to the room we d... If you're looking for an economy motel without having to sacrifice things only offered by more expensive 3 and 3+ star hotels, then this is your place. I was traveling through and wanted an inexpensive place to rest for the night so I did some quick research and found that Budget Inn & Suites had better reviews than other 2 star hotels in the area. The rooms are dated but very clean and if you are a non-smoker, you will be happy to know that the owner is VERY serious about smokers not staying in... Read more

How nice to come across this little place. It is in town, away from the freeway -- and so quiet we heard the birds chirping this morning. The policy of absolutely no-smoking meant that the room smelled very nice. Has a small refrigerator, about twice the size we often find in motel rooms, and with a freezing compartment. The friendly owner lady told us about a wonderful place to eat last night. We stayed here because they let us have our dog -- she also liked the room.

I am in the room as i type this; reading some of these reviews, I can't help but laugh at these angry, entitled people. This is a budget motel, not the ritz-carton; what do you expect? For the price, I give it 5 stars. Room is clean, beds comfy, free wifi, and I couldn't believe there is even a mini fridge and microwave in the room. It is a bit dated, but well-kept up. I noticed the continental breakfast is simple with waffles and cereal, but that is included and more than most budget places off... Read more

The room was okay, but the gentleman who checked us in was very un friendly and judge-mental. Someone else had clearly upset him and he took it out on us. He thinks everyone is a smoker?!?! And he thinks you are lying if you tell him you don't smoke. He was concerned about his room being hypoallergenic which is great and all, but the bathroom walls were covered in mold.

My family and I stayed here while driving through Kansas on our way to California. The managers Barry and Rekha were extremely friendly and even checked in on us after we settled in to our room. The room was clean and comfortable. Overall a great nights rest on our road trip.

A great value motel with clean rooms and great hospitality. Very nice owners. This was our first stay here, but we'll be back for sure. The hostess helped us to our room and answered all our questions. Quiet and relaxing. Good coffee and free breakfast.

Clean and well maintained by a dedicated couple. They are really adamant about smokers not staying in their allergy-free smoke-free rooms ... which suits me just fine, as nonsmoker! One in our party smoked on occasions, and so stayed in a room for smokers where you can't smoke inside: perfectly fine too! The rooms were well prepped, airco was on. Downtown, about a mile from the highway, which makes for a good night sleep. Should I rate this five star? Well, it is not a fancy Four Seasons .... Read more

After we had checked in, we went to our room and found a bug in the bed. After returning to the front desk the manager then started calling my mother some of the worst slang terms I've ever herd. Worst managing I've ever scene Avoid this motel and go to a chain hotel you can count on

The owner is very friendly and personable, the room we stayed in was clean and the bed was comfortable. The landscaping is simple, but charming. I like how it's off the freeway, where it is quiet. You really get a small town feel staying here.

After a long day's drive and passing several "chain" hotels, we found the Budget Inn & Suites on a side-street in Colby. The owners were extremely friendly & accommodating, the rooms were clean, etc. basically this was a fine example of the "mom & pop motels" of the past. Well maintained & highly recommend.

This is a '60's era motor inn, aged but well maintained and very, very clean! The owners were very sweet to us even with our very late arrival. The place is well away from the interstate but worth the discount to go find. We got exactly what we were looking for - a good, safe, clean night's rest. Even better, the gas next door was 10 cents cheaper than interstate pricing! Very pleased.

A great little motel with clean and cozy rooms, and the managers are very personable. They were able to accommodate us even though we checked in around 3 am, and we had a great night's sleep on the super comfortable bed. Nothing too fancy here, with hot coffee, orange juice, simple cereal and waffles for breakfast, but it was enough to get us going on the road. Overall this motel is a winner in my book. It's a little off the highway, but well worth the extra few minute drive. We'll definitely... Read more

We were looking for a nice cheap place to stay last minute. Found this online with great prices and good reviews. We were beyond impressed with our room. Everything was clean and we'll taken care of. Would recommend this place to anybody looking to save some money and still stay in a nice place!

I read the reviews and decided to take a chance on this one star hotel. I was traveling alone with my two daughters. Upon check in, I felt the manager to be very rude and intimidating. Once we opened the door to our room, we immediately wanted to leave, but knew he wouldn't refund our money. The room was filthy, sheets stained and very yellowed. The bath towels were stained, floors filthy, refrigerator and microwave in obvious need of cleaning. The shower obviously wasn't cleaned. Hair in... Read more

We have stayed at this hotel two separate times. Rooms were clean and while the beds were firmer than what we are used to, they were very comfortable. We arrived around 11pm and the owner had no problems with our late arrival. We chatted for a few minutes and he asked if we had any problems to let him know. He even called about 15 or so minutes after we got in the room to make sure everything was fine. We had read other reviews beforehand and all I can say is, you must be looking for problems... This was a wonderful surprise after several grueling days on the road. The room was big and very, very clean. The owners were attentive and the housekeeping staff was great. There was a nice park close by and the beautiful grounds of the Kansas Research Center were just a short walk away. I was traveling with my 95-lb dog so finding such a nice hotel that was close to open, green space where we could take long walks really lifted our spirits.

We stayed here both on our way to Fraser, CO and on our way home to Missouri about 5 days later. If you want a fancy, modern hotel with a crystal chandelier in the lobby and room service, this probably wouldn't be your cup of tea, but if you want a comfortable bed and clean room with money left over for a nice dinner in town, you will be happy here. (We ate at Tequilas and had a great Mexican dinner. BTW Thursday's their margaritas are on special.) This motel reminded me of our family trips to ... Read more

I had a wonderful experience checking in! I was welcomed by Mr. Barry, the manager, with a couple laughs and some information about the room I booked. We booked a non smoking room for one night, last minute, as we were travelling through Kansas. The hotel is a few miles from the highway. The room was a bit outdated, but the bed was comfortable and room spacious. There were small gnat bugs in the bathroom and the shower drain was slow. We also were awoken by construction outside of the hotel by the road. I mainly look for a clean room and a comfy bed. I would stay here again due to the price and good nights rest.

Barry Desai, the "owner" was almost physically obusive to my 28 year old daughter. She had gone inside to check us in and I stayed outside to get her puppy out of the car. The owner screamed at her "what is that lady doing? That dog better not sh;t everywhere." She opened the door and told me her puppy couldn't be in the driveway. It was 12:00.am but I walked him down the street anyway. Upon my return, I could see through the window that the owner was jabbing his finger towards my daughter. ... Read more

We met some friends from Canada for a 3 day bluegrass festival in Colby. We booked our 2 rooms but after reading some of the negative reviews we were a little apprehensive about staying at This motel. We are very happy we booked our room here. Although a little outdated, the rooms were very clean, roomy and comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay at Budget Inn and Suites if we visit Colby again.

Considering its price a terrific hotel. Few services but clean and comfortable with an attentive staff. Travel a couple of miles off of the highway for a bargain. No pool. Small breakfast. Kind of the old motel concept. Next time we need a stop along I-70, we will stop.

I walked in the office and asked about rates and availability. The horrible desk clerk asked if I had ever been a smoker and said if I had I had to take a smoking room even if I didn't smoke. I asked to see the room. He said no, go away, he didn't want my business. He was horrid little man. In all my years of traveling, this was the most bizarre event I have ever experienced.

this was worth the 60 $ its sort of looks like the 60,s meet the 80,s decor. The owner was some what annoying when he asked us if we smoked and we said no he said why not, ? In the morning I made the waffles wrong and the owners wife was upset with me because it was beeping on griddle, next time we stay at different place, its border line sketchy .
