Room was nice would of been a better stay if when we booked that we were told that renovations were taken place and pool was not ready for use. Staff was really nice { Katie} and made out stay even better..

When i checked, no one was at the desk and I had to tap on the desk get someones attention in the back room. The staff was friendly and even found a way to discount the price on an already reserved room. The problems with the room was electrical outlets. There were none near the bed so I had to plug my Cpap across the room and had to sleep sideways on the bed to use it. Would I stay here again....no. If I had to stay here, I'd bring a dropcord.

I was in town for a wedding and the rooms were booked at the Howard Johnson. Upon check in I was placed in a room that had a huge hole in the way in the bathroom, the closet was not finished and was holding a roll of carpet. There was also no trim on the walls and I could not find an electrical outlet except for in the bathroom. I also have no idea how the elevators are up to code to be used. Tub plugged, only 2 towels and 1 wash cloth, carpets in hallway filthy, bed was very comfy--new mattress. No shampoo, elevator was scary- sides coming off on inside, breakfast was very good and staff very helpful.

Pool not open. Wasn't disclosed while making reservations. Sheetrock dust all over furniture and carpet. Big fat cigarette ash in bathroom sink. Hair in toilet and shower. Didn't even know they had a breakfast option.

I choose this hotel because we had a martial arts tournament next door at the convention center. It wasn't the chosen tournament hotel, but now I know why. Upon check-in, I noticed that there was a sign telling us that the pool was closed. My son was crushed, as he was looking forward to swimming that weekend when we weren't at the tournament. The hotel is not in good order. The front doors are even nasty and need cleaned. There was only one elevator working. My room smelled weird (but the air conditioner did help the odor!). Hotel was difficult to find. No notable signs at street level. We were on the right street and the right block, but did not see a sign. Parking is apparently shared with public; gps directed us into it, but was labeled for a hospital, so we were confused by that. The only detrimental thing I had to say about this hotel is that we had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs (no elevator) and the bed was lumpy.

Terrible management. Our room was very dirty our room number was 408, the carpet was so dirty we did not want to put our feet on it, the hotel was old and not kept up at all, they say they are remodelling this should have been done years ago.

Don't know the reasoning but Sioux City has a Mardi Gras party in July. Just went to check it out and HoJo happened to be right in the middle of it. Parade passed right in front, food was right there, and fireworks were right next door. Hotel is under renovation and is in need of them but for my weekend, it was all about location and this was the perfect spot. Walking distance to convention center, theaters, and many restaurants.

Rooms need updating and thorough cleaning. Our room didn't have a number on the door. I discovered I had forgotten my kindle in the room when we checked out. Called the hotel. She checked with the house keeper who said nothing was left in the room. Hotel clerk then stated she would check the room personally and call me back. Though our room looked like it recently had a face lift, it seemed that they were putting poor quality work on top of poor quality work. The outlets to charge your phone or laptop are nonexistent. In fact, we had to use an extension cord that was hidden under the bed. Everything I touch feels dirty. Everything looks stained. Lights didn't work in my room. Couldn't call the front desk because the automated message is in a viscous loop. Air conditioning is so loud I couldn't watch tv. Won't make a return stay.

Old.. breakfast was to be at 6 am.. told it would not be ready for 10 minutes.. mot good when on business and on a schedule. Couldn't find the pop machine.. had to go to front desk to figure it out.. at checkin lucky we found out what room we would have.

I went to check into the hotel and the girl at the front desk was RUDE! She acted as though she was annoyed that she had to do her JOB by checking us in! She never answered any questions, she was very short and honestly very rude. This motel was shocking! We had to be moved to another room due to air condition not working. There were missing ceiling tiles which exposed ductwork, very old and dirty ductwork. There is renovation going on, which leaves the place dusty and very unattractive.

No wounded it was the only hotel in town with available rooms. Old bad smelling lobby, creepy low ceiling parking, old bouncing elevator, room door was open had no security look, hard bad smelling beds, dirty windows. Downtown and the Brand should not let them operate. It's bad name for brand.

Hard to even get coffee downstairs. Lost my drivers license there. Called n took 2 weeks to get mailed to me. Gfi n bathroom was electric hazard in 921. Bad parking. It was not a good night, bad dead town, homeless people. We had to pay meter due to us pulling a 14' trailer . Terrible terrible. Never again.

Right off the bat I can tell you this is an old hotel. Every bit of this hotel is old. The rooms are old and have that old smell. The floors in the rooms do look a little dirty. This is a horrible hotel!!! Had a reservation where I booked two rooms together, but when we checked in she was going to put us on different floors. I explainer he situation and was very unwilling to work with us. She finally put us on the same floor. My daughter and I spent the night at this hotel on a trip to visit family out of state. When we first pulled up, we thought, "Wow! How cool to stay at a huge place right down town!" As we walked up to the door, any thoughts of "cool" turned quickly to "oh dear!" - very dirty and rundown as we approached the door. We were there Aug 4 to 6th. \It was the closest hotel to the venue we were going to. The first room we were given smelled musty. The second room was better but not great. There is not enough outlets to plug thing in. They cut a little hole in the head board for one outlet to plug the lamp into. It was a place to stay on a rainy day, but I as a Wyndham member, I had rewards I earned at $25 each visit and I was unable to use it. The attendent said she would take my phone number and have manager call me and I never received call. Very upsetting. Because of the rain, the breakfast lady was detained, and the attendent tried her best to put out breakfast and we had sausage and scrambled eggs. She did extra special job.

I stay 200 nights a year in hotels and this was easily the worst this year. The property has been neglected for many many years and it shows. From what I understand, Howard Johnson has recently purchased the property and is working to improve it, but they have a LONG way to go. I wasn't expecting a lot from my stay at Howard Johnson, and boy was I glad. This hotel was close to the Hard Rock Casino so the location was great but the hotel is old and dirty. Our room smelled like it use to be a smoking room even though we had to sign a paper when we checked in that we would not smoke in the room. We went to Sioux city for a weekend getaway with some friends, we chose this hotel since it was downtown. We arrived at the hotel and were immediately greeted with a horrible smell in the lobby. The hotel is under construction but overall the place was dirty, staff when you seen them were not that friendly, room was ok but stunk of stale smoke and he had a non-smoking room! Definitely not the Hilton and will chose a different hotel next time!

The hotel was not ready for occupancy. The staff tried their best with what they had to work with. We booked the hotel in February 2016 when the construction was well in progress. The manager told us the property would be completed well in time for our family reunion. It was not. It was superficially done. Very disappointed. The rate was great, but did not make up for the discomfort.

I expected that an older hotel would look old and be needing some updates. I didn't expect that the room would be dirty and have underwear under the sink. The toilet paper roll holder was in the corner under the bathroom vanity and we put it on the holder but the paper was never replaced. The coffee pot was not cleaned and the coffee was not replaced the second day we were there. I would never stay again and would not have stayed if several other family members were not there also.

I will never stay at a Howard Johnson again because of this place. We were assured by the front desk employee that we could pay cash, but would need to keep our card number on file because it was hotel policy, but wouldn't be charged unless there were incidentals. I told the employee we had to make sure that it there was no hold or anything because we were 200 miles from our bank and we had scheduled automatic withdraws and didn't want to incur any overdraft fees. The last time we stayed at this hotel it was under other ownership and it was horrible!! I was really nervous about staying here again but I'm glad we did!! For the price it was a steal! The facility was a mess due to an ongoing facelift. The rooms were acceptable, but sheets were stained and the windows were not clean. During our stay only 1 of the 3 elevators appeared to be working.

There were 3 of us checking in together; one reservation was not on record even though we all made reservations with the same phone number. All 3 of our credit cards were denied initially. The staff was helpful even though we were informed by the clerk that he was working a double shift. The pool is not heated so opted out of that. The room was clean. The elevator was a bit sketchy. The location is prime for downtown. Overall, good price for the what you get.

Hotel seems to be in constant construction. My room had new carpeting and bed was good but hardly any outlets. Had to plug cell phone into an extension cord. Walls freshly painted but no baseboard. My friends rooms had old carpeting. The hallways smelled bad. The one working elevator may loud noises and was scary to ride in. Free breakfast was not good. This hotel does not have airport shuttle even though the website says it does. It seems to cater to transients.

Everything was clean and in good order. There was a mini fridge and microwave as an added bonus. On!y complaint was there was only one ice machine for guests.in over 7 floors of rooms. Parking was free in the adjoining parking garage.
