Hotel seems to be in constant construction. My room had new carpeting and bed was good but hardly any outlets. Had to plug cell phone into an extension cord. Walls freshly painted but no baseboard. My friends rooms had old carpeting. The hallways smelled bad. The one working elevator may loud noises and was scary to ride in. Free breakfast was not good. This hotel does not have airport shuttle even though the website says it does. It seems to cater to transients.

The staff was helpful even though we were informed by the clerk that he was working a double shift. The pool is not heated so opted out of that. The room was clean. The elevator was a bit sketchy. The location is prime for downtown. Overall, good price for the what you get.

There were 3 of us checking in together; one reservation was not on record even though we all made reservations with the same phone number. All 3 of our credit cards were denied initially. The lighting was so poor in my room and my tub did not drain so I had to be moved to another room the next day. The curtains were difficult to close and the carpet was really funky. The elevators were spooky. There was no management staff on duty over the weekend. There were only 3 luggage racks availabl... Read more

The facility was a mess due to an ongoing facelift. The rooms were acceptable, but sheets were stained and the windows were not clean. During our stay only 1 of the 3 elevators appeared to be working.

The last time we stayed at this hotel it was under other ownership and it was horrible!! I was really nervous about staying here again but I'm glad we did!! For the price it was a steal! The guy that checked us in was very friendly and I made a mistake a booked a smoking room and he moved us to another room without a problem! It's nice to see that this hotel is finally being remodeled! The only thing I had an issue with was the pool!! I could only be in it for maybe 5 mins because it was ice col... Read more

I will never stay at a Howard Johnson again because of this place. We were assured by the front desk employee that we could pay cash, but would need to keep our card number on file because it was hotel policy, but wouldn't be charged unless there were incidentals. I told the employee we had to make sure that it there was no hold or anything because we were 200 miles from our bank and we had scheduled automatic withdraws and didn't want to incur any overdraft fees. When I checked my account in... Read more

I expected that an older hotel would look old and be needing some updates. I didn't expect that the room would be dirty and have underwear under the sink. The toilet paper roll holder was in the corner under the bathroom vanity and we put it on the holder but the paper was never replaced. The coffee pot was not cleaned and the coffee was not replaced the second day we were there. I would never stay again and would not have stayed if several other family members were not there also.

The hotel was not ready for occupancy. The staff tried their best with what they had to work with. We booked the hotel in February 2016 when the construction was well in progress. The manager told us the property would be completed well in time for our family reunion. It was not. It was superficially done. Very disappointed. The rate was great, but did not make up for the discomfort.

We went to Sioux city for a weekend getaway with some friends, we chose this hotel since it was downtown. We arrived at the hotel and were immediately greeted with a horrible smell in the lobby. The hotel is under construction but overall the place was dirty, staff when you seen them were not that friendly, room was ok but stunk of stale smoke and he had a non-smoking room! Definitely not the Hilton and will chose a different hotel next time!

block of rooms booked for wedding guests. in our 1st room when we turned down the bed, one corner of the bed was SOAKING wet from the top of the bedspread to the mattress and had what looked like blood stains. we were moved to another room - there we found the toilet seat up and toothpaste all over the bathroom vanity -- obviously the room had not been cleaned. howard johnson just took over this hotel, but other than new lobby furniture and some awfuly choosen colors that the walls in the ro...
