Stayed here one night for business the room was a good size, everything was in working order, and my stay was peaceful. The on-site bar/restaurant was good, with a surprising diversity of local beer options. Overall I'd recommend this hotel.

Stayed here two nights for a business conference. I'm very impressed the hotel is well located in downtown Dubuque. Convenient to casinos and museums and attractions. The lobby is large and well lit. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms are large well appointed and clean. We will certainly be back.

Stayed here for a 3 nights for business. The place looks a bit funnel down, but they are sprucing it up. Some of the doors to the rooms look pretty old. The rooms itself were okay, walked in and found a large lint ball on the carpet. Found old food in the in room fridge. The tables and dressers were not wiped down and were dusty. I always wipe down a room and all of the fixtures and switches. The bed was comfortable and everything else in the room was okay. Looked at the pool area and the pool... Read more

We stayed here for our weekend in Galena, IL. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Dubuque. The hotel seemed a little tired, but they were doing construction when we stayed there. The pool was comically small. Was within walking distance of restaurants and only a 10-minute drive to Galena. The parking garage was in serious need of an upgrade. It was dark and not super safe feeling. It was a place to sleep, but don't expect anything luxurious. Much cheaper than staying in Galena.

We had reservations at a different hotel in Galena and upon arrival found out they were not pet friendly. In a panic we searched for other places. The closest we could get was this Holiday Inn. It was only about a 20 min scenic drive from Galena. The hotel was clean and near the Mississippi River! We ended up super glad we stayed here because we got to explore some of Dubuque! Only complaint is pool/hot tub is small and there was no included breakfast option. Other than that would definitely sta... Read more

Stay elsewhere! This place looks nice from the outside but sucks inside. The elevators are dirty and nasty . Got a room on the 5h floor , walk out of elevator and the doors on the rooms look like something from party central. The ice machine does not work . The ac could not cool the room properly and the prices are way too high!

You can tell that they renovated a pre-existing property, as there are still some traces of the older hotel visible throughout. The carpeting in the hallways is in need of a replacement and the elevators are super slow. The staff are friendly, the rooms are good and have excellent A/C, and the restaurant is decent. It isn't a hotel that will stand out in your mind, but it serves its purpose without being too dated.

This is just a normal Holiday Inn. It's clean and safe. I stay here mostly for the great location downtown. I have eaten at their new restaurant and it's just ok. It's extremely loud in there when it's full and even sitting at the bar you can't even hear the bartender very well. I will stay here again, but mostly for the location.

This is a nice place to stay when visiting to Dubuque. Everything is within walking distance from here. I didn't have reservations however I was checked in quickly and professionally. I asked asked about a place to walk and the person at the desk had a couple of nice recommendations. I found the rooms to be very clean and comfortable.

My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Dubuque for two nights while we were on a road trip. The hotel is ideally located and within walking distance of the Missippi River Walk and downtown Dubuque while only being a short distance from Galena. Check in was fine, staff are friendly and welcoming and the car park is great being at the rear of the hotel. The room, while not being salubrious, is what you would expect at a Holiday Inn. Breakfast, which is not complimentary, is fine too. There i... Read more

So this is our second time at this hotel, we go once a year for an event. Last year I had better feelings then this year. The hotel is an older hotel that has been maintained. it's popularity and price are caused by the the lack of choices in that spot. Hotel staff was brief and cold. Food service staff was friendly. If there is any festival or music down on main street you don't want to be on that side of the hotel. There was a band playing till midnight and you could hear every drum ... Read more

Stayed twice at this location only for the location. The hotel is old and the beds are extremely uncomfortable. I would rather stay farther next time. They have a great location, it would be so nice if they could remodel and make this place the it should be.

Went to the "new" restaurant in the downtown Holiday Inn. The host did not acknowledge our arrival, much less our existence. This restaurant is small so it is hard to miss incoming customers. However, I was not alone as I watched him throughout our meal-he even "motioned" an elderly couple to a table. Really? You can't escort them? It took so long to get our coffee that the couple seated next to us offered theirs up--the did arrive well after we did so they thought it only fair. Our cream ca... Read more

My husband and I stayed there a few weeks ago which was our second visit there and both stays were so nice. We went to the Mississippi museum for the afternoon and this place is convenient to stay at for that purpose. Anyway, our check-in was quick and painless with the friendly people at the desk. The room was very clean and the bed comfy. We went to the lounge for drinks and dinner. The employees there were top notch. We had good service the whole evening and they were very friendly folks. ... Read more

This was a real well appointed hotel. The room was very nice and very clean. And the bed was very comfortable. Our compliments to the staff. They were most accommodating. Breakfast was better than most because they gave us a $25 coupon for two of us. And it was made to order. Easily within the amount allotted. It was a very enjoyable stay and would stay there again.

After driving the Fargo Force Hockey Team to Dubuque in 9 1/2 hours this property was a welcome sight. The room is beautiful with a king bed and king size pillows. The bed is extra comfortable and the room well appointed. Lighting is warm and not harsh as some newer lighting can be. To me, this adds to the feeling of home. All employees that I have encountered have been helpful and knowledgeable as well as extra friendly. I would recommend this property.

We stay in Holiday Inns almost all the time and are usually very satisfied. This one is less than desirable. We stayed 2 nights. Housekeeping did not clean our room or replenish towels, etc. I called front desk to let them know and they acted as if they didn't care. When you walk in the lobby it looks very nice and clean...until you get to the 4th floor and its dirty and outdated. Hot tub is very small, it fits 2-3 people at most. I would not recommend staying here.

We stayed here for four nights for a reunion. Check in was fast, lobby was very nice. The hallways and room doors are in need of updating. Our rooms however were very nice. Some in our party did not get their rooms cleaned until 5-6pm, which did not make them happy. Bar was nice, food was good and service was fast. The same cannot be said of the coffee shop where we had breakfast. It took anywhere from 1/2 hr to 45 min to get breakfast. Service there was very slow. If we had a car, we w... Read more

Booked a room at the Holiday Inn when all rooms booked in Galena, what a gem. Just across the river in Dubuque, close to river, casino and convention center. The hotel is immaculate with a fantastic bar & grill open till 2:00am. The room was comfortable with a fridge and coffee service, the staff friendly and helpful. My new place to go in Dubuque .

I was there with a large group, and found the hotel room to be clean and comfortable. The evening staff was not very friendly though. A few in our group had some issues. I also found out from another guest that he and his wife came to the hotel that day and a room was available. Since some of our group called a few days after the cut off and were told there were no rooms available, I found this confusing. Overall, the location in the city was very good. The first visit was in October and we had booked a two room suite as my husband is a Spire Elite member for Priority Club. When we got to the room our key would not work and luckily the maintenance guy was in the hallway so we asked him to open the room and we would get things taken care of after we put our luggage in. Unfortunately when the maintenance guy opened the door, it was occupied. The hotel then put us in a regular room and did not upgrade as the Priority Club promises to their high-en... Read more
