The hotel was OK and the food was just OK, but the road noise from the highway was unbelievably loud. I did not sleep all night. I cannot believe they have such poor, noisy windows. Get better windows on the highway side!

A couple years ago we bypassed this hotel because of the poor reviews, but this time had no choice but to stay here as everything else was booked. It was actually better than expected, they have recently renovated it which has made a big difference. Now they just need to work on the parking area as there are chips of concrete everywhere. Lobby: Redone, cozy, cute bar area. Great little seating areas Pool area: Kids loved it, never actually stepped into the area. Rooms: I was on 5th floor an... Read more

This hotel has some remodeled rooms and some that are not. Our room was fine, walls are paper thin but for $119 a night it was about what I expected. Room service is extremely reasonable and fast here. I was traveling with a very tired 7 year old for a dance competition and the hotel staff was amazing. Head of housekeeping overheard my daughter tell me she forgot her toothbrush and returned with one voluntarily. Impressive! Heather in room service was super. Upon delivering our food I gav... I was not expecting much but the hotel was great- I really enjoyed the breakfast and the interior design. Very close to the building where the meeting I attended was. However, just need to be careful around surrounding areas down south I believe. Lots of traffic during peak hours.

I have had to stay several times in the last three weeks due to a family member's medical emergency. Location is a primary reason-it is right across the street from Mercy Hospital. They offer a hospital rate, which has been a godsend. This properly has and is still undergoing renovations. The rooms are very nice-ask for a high floor with a skyline view! I had to come to the hospital suddenly last evening. I was able to get a room with short notice. After I checked in, I was exhausted and ... Read more

I stayed at this hotel the weekend of the Dam to Dam 1/2 Marathon. I did not feel as though runners were welcome there. Dam to Dam is a large event (12,000 runners), it wasn't on the event board and staff acted as though they did not know anything about it or where some of the well known downtown sites (Vets Memorial Auditorium) were. There was not a shuttle to the drop off site, which would have been more convenient so I did not have to Uber. I was told it was close to the finish-it is roug... Read more

Downtown location, centrally located, Good hotel, hotel building is older, beds are comfortable, upgrade interior, great breakfast and very friendly staff. If I had to something to do in downtown Des Moines, Holiday Inn Mercy Campus would be a choice for me

I was so relieved that they had rooms available here on such a short notice and late at night! The man working the front desk looked like he was pretty busy but made a point to help me check in quickly and hassle free. The room was neat and clean and had a nice view of the night time skyline. We got free breakfast buffet tickets and it had a nice selection of breakfast items including fresh fruit.

Stayed there for a convention--they OVER BOOKED--and did not tell anyone. Did not hire xtra shuttle drivers. THEIR PARKING LOT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION--they did not tell anyone in advance or post it on their sites or accomodate--OR discount when asked to on the bill--the manager was not around--I was told he was working out of his home or he had the weekend off because it was FATHERS DAY (he deserved a day off because of Fathers Day--they said) While ALL the hotel guests suffered because of the BA... This hotel is right off the freeway and no stairs are available to go to the lobby. Elevators are extremely SLOW. Bathroom is small, especially if you had 4 people in the room. Bed is comfortable. Breakfast buffet is $10 and includes beverages. The regular menu is a joke. $2.75 for coffee!!! We chose this hotel because of rewards program and location to our family. We stayed Ankeny before and that was excellent so we will do that in the future and drive a little more.

It was so nice to stay and be able to go out downtown and walk everywhere we wanted to go. Visited for a concert on the river front and enjoyed being able to walk everywhere. The rooms were nice and spacious.

The hotel overall was fine. The lobby and restaurant seemed nice. The rooms were okay- bathroom seemed clean but really didn't feel clean (if that makes sense). The carpet in the room almost felt damp- it bothered me enough that I didn't walk around without some sort of shoe on. The beds were fine- good pillows and a choice of soft of firm pillows. The window opened- which was nice but there was no screen or anything (we were on the 10th floor) this seemed concerning to me. Also, the air condi... Read more

This hotel is over-priced for what you get. I would suggest trying a hotel in the downtown area. The breakfast buffet is good, but try to get it included when you check in. DEFINITELY, don't get a room on the highway side - it's VERY noisy.

We enjoyed our stay here. We loved the fact that they had a shuttle that would take us to places in the area. Saved us from having to drive & pay for parking. Rooms were nice & clean. Fitness area was nice & had plenty of TV's for those exercising. Pool was clean & deep. Not too many hotels have 8' deep pools. Shallow end was 3' deep. Had a nice view of the city, especially from the top of the hotel. The rooms facing the highway were a bit nosier than those on the opposite side, due to highway t... Read more

Prior to my visit to this hotel visit I was told how terrible this hotel was. I had nothing but a great experience. From the super friendly front desk staff to the house keeping staff. The rooms were very nice, clean, and remodeled. I really could not have been happier with the whole experience. The two cons are location, and you can't use the Wi Fi there unless your a member. But it wasn't a big deal to me. Others may feel upset by that. All in all a great experience!

This Holiday Inn was new and nice. It is a stretch to say it is in downtown. We had to walk, but just a mile. Unfortunately it is in a seedy area. I wouldn't feel great about the walk at night. Other than that, it was a comfortable stay. The bed was comfortable and everything was bright.

Stayed at this place with our kids in july. We're world travelers and have stayed a wide variety of IHG properties, and usually we really like them. You get used to a certain level of service and facilities, this place was a mixed bag. The area near the hospital was pretty seedy, and parking was poor (I wasn't sure my car would still be there in the morning). Additionally our room was very dated, and worn, with the beds being springy and uncomfortable. There were bright points though, the restau... Read more

Very clean room with microwave and refrigerator. Great breakfast buffet with good variety. A little downtown noise during the night. Bring some earplugs if night noise bothers you. Located with easy access to highway 235. Very good value for price.

The hotel staff are very pleasant. There is onsite restaurant and clean pool area. If you are staying in town for activities near the capitol this is a great location. Also, close proximity to lots of other venues. Try out Zombie Burger or Fong's Pizza - both are great local hangouts. Des Moines has a farmers market close by on Saturdays throughout the summer.

What an amazing property. The icing on the cake is surely the staff! What a pleasant group of hard working hoteliers! They always went above and beyond to help make my stay memorable. Great location. Free in town shuttle. Clean comfortable rooms. And once again, amazing staff! Thank you Holiday Inn Mercy Campus for all that you do. I can't wait to come back

We stayed one night this past weekend while we were there for the Des Moines Triathlon. We stayed here last year for the same race and had a very positive experience, so this was one of our top choices to stay this time around. The location cannot be beat. It's so close to everything downtown, without the steep downtown hotel price tag that other places come with. We arrived to town a bit early on Saturday, and checked in early with no problems. The next day, we requested a late checkout so tha... Read more

Nice hotel. Only problem is heard ambulance after ambulance pulling into hotel next door. The rooms were clean and looked as they had been updated recently. Really close to downtown but not as expensive as downtown hotels. Great value for the money and right off interstate so you don't get stuck in downtown traffic. Would definitely stay here again.

This is an older property, but has been updated to meet modern needs. We stayed for two nights, and found our room to be comfortable and well-equipped. The staff was extremely helpful and eager to please. Probably the strongest selling point for this hotel is its location. This hotel is located close to all downtown Des Moines destinations and events. There are numerous dining establishments of all types close to this hotel.

Stayed for three nights and had wonderful customer service. Family member was at the hospital for surgery and recovery. Shuttle is wonderful service for those not wanting to get in their cars or don't have cars. Hospital is definitely within walking distance for most unless health issues are an issue. You have to work pretty hard to be classified as the worst hotel of the year. I've stayed in close to 100 different hotels this year, and this was the worst, and it wasn't close. I don't need much to have a good hotel experience-good internet, a good gym, a reasonably comfy bed, a staff that communicates with each other and I'm good. I was asked to log into the wifi network so many times, my computer memorized the code. It often disconnected for no reason, and I had to login over and over. I was... Read more

Front desk clerks were not able to answer any of our questions concerning the hotel shuttle stating that we would have to ask the shuttle driver who was not available at that time. The fire alarm went off every time we took a hot shower and when I called the front desk they said that happens sometimes just make sure the bathroom door is shut at all times. Maint. offered to unhook the alarm which I reminded then was illegal. (but at least they were offering to do something). This could be hap... Read more

This was an older hotel, but was nicely refurbished. Nice lobby, a nice room, a great shower, comfortable bed and great room service-hot breakfast! Being an older hotel, there's not much insulation in the windows. We were on the side of the interstate and we heard semi's and buses all night long even with ear plugs. One gal said they've checked and it would be over $1 million to replace all the windows. As we were cleaning up to leave, we found there was a sound machine on the clock/radio to esc... Read more

I stay at many hotels and this is at the bottom of the list. The customer service is non existent. I informed them of a couple simple problems, but were not fixed, not even an apology. I know things happen, that's why I don't get upset over the little things. But a simple apology goes a long way. Room cleanliness is not a place that there should be much of a leeway. The bathroom almost looked like the housekeeping didn't even bother cleaning after the last guest.

I had the opportunity to drive the Fargo Force and to stay at this property. Motor coach parking is somewhat awkward however the hotel did block off a section in the far kit for me to park. The hotel is very inviting and well located to Mercy Hospital and downtown. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable with wonderful beds. The on property restaurant has a buffet breakfast that's very good. Well stocked and maintained. This is a very good property to stay at.

Our Team has been staying here for the past several for Dance Competition. This year we somehow did not get our reservations in. When I first called they were sold out, but they actually contacted me when rooms became available closer to the competition date. Other hotels we contacted would not do that.
