This hotel has a few unusual quirks that unfortunately will not make me return to it. The first which was most annoying is the heating/cooling system in the room. The vent never ever shuts off. I also went to the front desk to personally address a maintenance request and apparently this is the standard. You can place the switch to the off position, but it will always run. which sounds like it's going to be negative, but it isn't. The property is right at the airport, and convenient from I-80. The rooms are clean and quiet, even though it's near the airport. The breakfast has all the usual buffet suspects, but it's tasty and filling and free (other Hilton properties should learn from this). The staff were limited but excellent, even while training a new employee at check in....Room was small but clean..AC didn't cool all the time, Ran perfectly but never cooled to thermostat setting..Ice machine broken on 3rd gloor....Breakfast was excellent, Fresh,Clean, and Plentiful..I would return if in the area..

Breakfast was free and the choices were excellent. Rooms are very clean and I really liked having the microwave in my room and the snacks available at the front desk. Only complaint was that the air conditioning unit was a little loud.

The hôtel is nice, rooms are big, good size, they have fridge, bathroom is nice and clean. Itâ??s a good choice for the price. The breakfast is standard for the Hampton Inn, that means you get enough, itâ??s a buffet, fresh fruits, cereals, many kind of drinks, eggs, meat, etc. The team was very friendly and helpfull.

I love staying here when I travel to Des Moines for work. This hotel makes me feel at home. The beds are very comfortable and they always have several pillow types to choose from. The cookies in the lobby are also a nice treat!

HHonors should be guaranteed a certain level of room quality and services. We definitely did not receive this during this trip. The phones did not work in either room we stayed in. The second room we were moved to was the handicap room that has a "FULL" size bed in it, not a queen or a king. I had to go to the front desk at 3 AM because of the TV noise coming from the room next to us. This was never taken care of, probably because the phones in the rooms don't work. For the value, the rooms were very nice. The breakfast was fresh and hot with many options. The location is right next to the airport but the rooms are insulated so the flights are not noticeable. The staff the I met were very friendly.

After supposed "renovations," no air conditioning in hall and barely worked in rooms. Filth on hall floors. One elevator quit working when people were in it. Yellowed fixtures in room. Smoke detector barely attached to wall. Stains on shower curtain. Showerhead covered in scum. Dirt in bathroom corners. Hard beds. I'm a Hilton Honors and was not greeted as such. Overall disgusting stay.

Location is good. Gym is too small and had several missing weights. Beds were very comfortable. Staff was great, especially Mike. Pool is small but fine. Maid came in and turned our air up to 78. It was 90 outside and so the room was very hot.

I fly to Newton IA for work often and like to stay in Des Moines for my early flight on Saturdays to return home. I checked in to the Hampton located beside the airport about 730-8 on June 10th. Smelly "non-smoking" room, no drapes (bright!), and loud street noise with no cover from the air-conditioning fan. Front desk and breakfast staff were good. Opted out of maid service due to condition of room when I arrived (unflushed toilet and 2 mo. old voicemail). Room was perfumed to cover up old smoking status.

I had a short sleep and find this hotel to be efficient and the quality I have come to expect from Hampton. Located close to the airport, if you are in this part of Des Moines or downtown it is conveniently located to grocery and other retailers.

This is by far the worst Hampton Inn I've stayed at and I am a loyal Hilton Honors member. I realize the allure is its close proximity to the airport, but there are plenty of other/ better options further away. The airport is small and easy to navigate, so no need to stay this close. I guess this is the way things are in Iowa these days. You have here a hotel, they have no room service and no dining room, they do not help you at all with your bags.. The room was OK I guess but they were only 30% full and yet they felt the need to put me next to be busy street. Either no common sense or they not really care about their guest. And they were 10 dollars cheaper than other premium hotels in the area. Wish I would tried one of the..

Hampton Inns are always great! Comfortable, spacious, free wifi and a very pleasing breakfast. Staff was friendly and eager to help. I had a brief issue with the television and they were on top of it - didn't actually get remedied but they tried diligently! Staff was super friendly

We have stayed at many Hampton Inns through the years. We had early flights so we chose a hotel close to the airport. The service at checkin/out was excellent as was the food service at breakfast. The breakfast was typical Hampton. The room was nice and spacious with a good workspace and comfortable bed. There were bugs in our bed crumbs asking our bed frames.and a moldy water bottle at headboard. Then when they moved us our new room had a broken for to the bathroom so you had to lift it to close it. Enough said

I have stayed at this hotel one other time. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I used the airport shuttle on the last visit and he was great. They recommended Skips restaurant for dinner and took me there in the complimentary shuttle.

This hotel doesn't rate with the normal Hampton Inn. The rooms are exceptionally small and there were bugs all over on the first floor...something that should be pretty easy to spray for outside so they don't make it in. The pool also doesn't have a hot tub. Stayed at a different Hampton 3 weeks prior and it was much nicer! The walls are so thin along with the doors

Checked in and right off the bat, no thank you for being a Hilton Diamond member, no offer for water or free snacks as all others do. Then I got to my room, barely enough room to get around the bed. Very cramped and the smallest hotel bathroom I've ever seen. Now to the 5 out of 10 hotel dirty filter story. My parents and I stayed while in town for my daughters wedding. The staff was pleasant, even with all the baseball teams taking over the hotel. When there was an error on my bill, it was rectified quickly. I will stay again.

Rodney at the front desk was very helpful both at check in and check out. My room had been updated, it was clean and bright. Fridge and microwave included. Comfortable bed. Quiet room. I did check in late on saturday night, but the public areas of the hotel were dirty. The carpet had lots of debris, and the trash cans were overflowing. The elevators were especially dirty. Everything, including the service and management was excellent. The free shuttle they offer is also great. We found the room to be very clean and well stocked with a refrigerator and microwave. It had a limited but sufficient number of channels on the TV but the staff was exceptionally friendly and courteous.

Our check in experience was odd. Bald clerk at the desk talked way too much. Talked politics disagreed with me about something and told me to shut up. Very odd. Morning clerk was professional and friendly. Breakfast food was okay. Too many people Ina very small space. Room was quiet. Other than the wall unit air conditioner. But that provided much needed white noise as our room was across from the elevator.

We have stayed here a few times while visiting family. It is right across from the DM airport so there is some noise from planes coming and going but it wasn't a problem for us. The staff is always friendly. Breakfast is the usual fare. The rooms are not large but they are clean and the beds are great. We always sleep well!

We like the predictability of Hampton Inns, but this one was a little disappointing. It is an older property and the room we had, 2 queen beds was quite small.No rubber bath mat for a slippery tub! Outdoor pool was quite pretty, breakfast met their usual standards. Staff were polite but not overly welcoming as we had in other properties and no complimentary welcome bag of cold water, cookies, etc as we are usually given these as honors members?

The on demand shuttle is nice and they will even run you out to dinner within a few miles. The front desk staff were fast, friendly, and efficient. The room and bathroom was nice. The gym had a few pieces of equipment out of order but still a decent fitness center. Overall another good Hampton stay!

Whenever I travel, I always try and stay in a Hampton Inn. This hotel had a clean room and comfortable bedding. The AC was on when I arrived which made my room nice and cool. The breakfast was good. Not a big fan of the eggs, but there is always great alternatives to the hot breakfast provided.

Needed a place last minute near the airport. I paid $175 for a Tuesday night stay. The room is maybe worth $80. Check in was pretty slow and didn't get an amenity. Didn't get a room upgrade considering my elite Hilton status. I won't stay here again. My neighbor had TV on all night, thin walls.

When we pulled up to this hotel, we felt like it was a hotel built in the 1990's. The front desk clerk was rude and made us feel like we were bothering him during the check in process. The hallways were dark, damp and still smelled of smoke, even though it is a nonsmoking hotel. Every entryway, you can smell where smokers stand right in by the door and it wafts into the building. Everything about this hotel made me think, dang I should have stayed somewhere else.

And I wish I had only stayed one night. Sink was clogged and I complained 3 times, once per day. Sink still clogged when I left. Complimentary wifi speed is below 1 Mbps. Not acceptable in 2016. Carpet has stains and coffee service not reset after first day. Front desk not friendly.

From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, the staff at this Hampton Inn went over backwards to make my stay comfortable. The morning breakfast was good and menu changed every day. They greeted you with complimentary water and a smile. The warm cookies in the afternoon really hit the spot. Well worth the money!

We stayed here so we could have easy access to our early morning flight out of Des Moines in the morning. The hotel is ideally located for this purpose, and despite being directly across the street from the airport it was fairly quiet. While nothing fancy, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast is pretty much the standard small buffett that you would expect, nothing great but the fresh fruit was good.

They list that the hotel was recently remodeled however the rooms and the lobby were the rest of the hotel looked rundown. Also we reserved a room with 2 queen beds and when we got to the room there was barely enough room to move around the beds. The room was VERY crowded.

Great hotel, clean comfortable rooms and great breakfast. Super when the toilets work or they actually fix the problem. I reported the problem in person at front desk 7:30 not fixed by 1:00 so be prepared to go down three floors to use the lobby bathroom and hope its not being used as it was when I went.

Very handy if you are using the nearby airport. The shuttle service was extremely convenient and a pleasant experience. However, the guest room was a disappointment. It had a musty smell and the carpets appeared dirty, as did the hallways and elevator.

The Hampton Inn is 5 minutes drive from the airport. Parking is free and they serve a continental breakfast as in any other Hampton Inn. Staff was friendly but for the price I was paying, I am expecting more from a Hilton brand. The hotel is dated. Parking is free and there are a few restaurants on the same street of the hotel. 3 stars.

$180, $205 with taxes for this place, you have to be kidding me. Only worth $100 tops. Needed 2 rooms because our usual Des Moines hotel was booked up. What a mistake. Needs updating bad. Parking lot floodlights shining in my room. Front desk lady early morning had a bad attitude. Only positive think I can say is the bed and bedding were comfortable. That's it.

Even though this motel is near the airport we hardly heard any airplane noise! Our room reminded me of a small European hotel room. The bathroom was so very small, but clean and looks like it could have been updated. There were lots of amenities in the room, including a microwave, mini-frig. Basic hotel very close to the airport. The lobby is small with no space for business travelers to work. Wifi was not working. Room was nicely renovated, but cramped. Bed was comfortable. Overall, an okay hotel for business travelers but, overpriced.

I've stayed here a few times in the past. Accommodations are better than some of the other hotels nearby. Staff is great and location is convenient to the airport. There are a few restaurants in the area, fast food is nearby, along with pharmacy and grocery store. Rooms have a mini-fridge and microwave oven.

Service was fine. But this facility is old with thin walls outdated items and overall old feel. I do not recommend staying here. Go downtown or to west Des Moines. Marriott should not claim this under their banner of facilities.

We were able to check in and then go out for a nice meal the night before our flight. The shuttle took us over to the airport in the morning and then we will pick our car up in a week. Pretty cool. Highly recommend it.

Visiting in Des Moines and stay here for one night. Check in was fast and snacks were offered. Got in the room and there were 2 dead flies on top of the air conditioner unit. Went back to front office and room was changed with an apology. Next morning went down for coffee and breakfast. Found yogurt was expired and oatmeal was almost empty. Though the staff was overwhelmed checking in a busload of people when we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and important by staff members. There was a short delay, but unavoidable. The shuttle driver was particularly helpful. The breakfast was top notch as always at a Hampton Inn. We would definitely stay at this hotel on our next late night air arrival in Des Moines.

I recently stayed two nights at the Hampton Inn at Des Moines airport. I have used this hotel several times and I find its location very convenient for late arrival or early departure from the airport. The hotel is always well kept and very clean. I rated them a 10/10. The hotel is typical of Hampton Inns. However, if I could say one negative, I would have liked them to have had a hot tub. They do have a pool that is seasonal outdoors. However, in November it is closed. I did not realize they did not have one, an assumption on my part.

Breakfast was good. Beds ok. Bathroom too small for an extended stay. Need more area for four people. Need to staff accordingly for holiday's. And be available to help. We had no cleaning on one day - not a big deal. But not expected when paying a decent amount of money for a room.

Barely acceptable. Gross, and not a nice place. The rooms are small, and smelly. The layout of the place is weird (elevators are in the way back), and the lounge in the front is loud (TVs blaring) and dirty (tables are greasy and covered with food).
