Clean, quiet rooms with fantastic happy hour and bar. Breakfast had everything you would ever want, including omelettes and pancakes made to order, a variety of fresh fruit, etc. Staff was prompt and friendly when we needed assistance. Lots of great casual, comfortable gathering space for families off the lobby. Bean bag games for kids in the lobby hall. They went the extra mile when we left a walker behind in the room, realizing it was missing when we got home, and mailed it to us. Nice workout... Read more

My boyfriend recently surprised me with reservations at the Embassy to celebrate our anniversary (I‚??ve noticed the high reviews on TripAdvisor for months and have made many comments about how I‚??d like to stay there to see what all the hype is about). While the hotel was okay, it was nothing spectacular and didn‚??t live up to what I had expected from reading previous TripAdvisor reviews. We stayed here for State track. We heard thru others staying they have a shuttle that will take you to Drake stadium which would have been nice to take advantage of but we were not able to check into our room early. The hotel is very nice. We requested an upgraded room and did receive that but in my opinion it was not worth the extra fee. I was there on business and it was a convenient location. Room was very nice and the staff was very courteous. Underground parking was a plus. They had a few perks such as cocktail hour and breakfast but our schedules did not allow for it. Room was spacious and well maintained. A very obvious design floor was in the shower as it only had a partial glass panel which caused water to run on the floor.

It is located along the Des Moines River and the view from the river side is awesome. Suites are very spacious. It was less than a 10 minute walk to Wells Fargo Arena for the Boston Concert. We used 15000 Hilton points and got the room for $65. I believe they have a relationship with Wells Fargo and had a concert rate of $119. Buzzard Billy's bar is right along the route so this is a perfect location.

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location on the river, designed to be part of the scenery. Easy walking to the whole city. Plenty of locations for entertainment. It was a bit expensive and since it's a Hilton property the free wifi is kind of hidden and it's notoriously bad.

The hotel was attractive and clean. The staff was nice and helpful. The gym was functional. The cocktail hour and breakfast were both good. My only minor complaints were that it was very muggy in the public spaces, probably because of all the fountains and the lunch we ate at the restaurant was only so-so. The location was very good for walking to eat and shop.

I paid quite a high price to stay at the Des Moines Embassy Suites for a conference being held there - over $200 per night. The front desk folks were delightful. I was disappointed in my suite however. It is clear the hotel is old. Paint is chipped on the walls and the furniture shows distinct wear and tear. My room was not as clean as I would have expected. There were little pieces of popcorn on the carpet and something stuck to the floor in front of the refrigerator on the linoleum portion. T... Read more

The hotel was beautiful, the staff was great, and breakfast and the "happy hour" were terrific. However, the bed was soft and indented in the center and the cleaning staff was rather haphazard. My family has been going to this Embassy for decades and we were so glad that they did the renovations, but it is quickly getting gross again. This is a standard Hilton brand Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines, 10 minutes walk from the state capitol. Breakfast was included and there was only valet parking which is pricy. The service was great and the rooms are 2-room suite with a bedroom and a living room. Overall it is a good value for the money and I would recommend this hotel.

Miss you guys already!! I'll be back!! You're beyond awesome!! Everything from the greeting to checking out was professionally handled and consistently! The food was amazing (and included!)! The cleanliness and thoughtfulness of the housekeeping department was the best! The thoughtfulness and consideration towards our group during seminars was a total surprise! Food, food, food everywhere and drink to go with!! I had no idea how well planned our stay would be!!

We were in Des Moines last week for our son's wedding and stayed at the Embassy Suites - Downtown for four nights. We were really impressed with the staff - all the staff, including those behind the scenes. From the shuttle service to the buffet breakfast in the morning - everything was outstanding, Also, a very convenient location to the places we needed to be near. In addition, we comfortably hosted a small family get-together in our suite after the rehearsal dinner.

Anytime I come to Des Moines, I try to stay here. The staff is so incredibly friendly, and will go out of their way to help. I am always impressed with the level of service when I stay here, I travel frequently and this is the friendliest and nicest hotel I stay at.

The hotel is in an excellent location. The lobby, common areas, meeting facilities and my suite were clean and in excellent repair. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. All staff members were very friendly, from the front desk to the meeting room aide to the shuttle bus driver. I will definitely stay here again.

We arrived at the hotel and our check-in was delayed because the police were at the hotel investigating a break in. We checked into our hotel room and the refrigerator was broken, the phone was broken, and three lights did not work. Our hotel suit was clean, but very shop worn.

We had a spectacular stay, beginning to end. We arrived with 4 little boys under the age of 6 and they greeted us with a smile. They even gave my kids a little "welcome gift" toy. Ikram was friendly and helpful getting our stuff up to the room and Eddie was wonderful in giving us directions wherever we needed to go. My only complaint was that there was no free parking. $24/night was not really appreciated. But the rest of the stay and the amazing breakfast made up for the ding. Overall, we... Read more

I attended a conference at the Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines, staying there four nights. With one exception, my room, the conference facilities, and the restaurant/bar were excellent. Upon checking in, there was a housekeeping issue with my room. When I reported the problem to the front desk, they immediately moved me to another room and ensured that they had addressed the problem to my satisfaction. This Embassy Suites is worthy of a stay simply for the location and all of the standard ES amenities. However, what should really draw you to this ES is the excellent staff and management who were always very kind, attentive and had a deep desire to ensure your stay was exceptional. When you get to know the management by first name, you know they're doing something right!

We stay here when we have events going on in Des Moines and not once have we ever had a complaint. Staff is excellent, breakfast is beyond superb. The only thing I would suggest is a better selection of snack at the managers reception but again can't complain too much when you're given free drinks.

Embassy Suite at it's best - great customer service, great free breakfasts and big suites. But...a few complaints: when housekeeping makes up the room every day, why would they shut the air conditioner off? (it had taken me several hours to get the room cool).. Also, why are the snacks during the manager's hours so ... cheap ... chips and pretzels? C'mon, live up to the ES brand.

From the parking attendants, to check in, to cleanliness of the room, quality of items, smell, sounds, atmosphere, etc. - this hotel was fantastic. I traveled to Des Moines all summer for work, from June through October. I would put the Embassy Suites up against any other hotel in Des Moines. I stayed at a few other locations when they were 100% booked due to big conferences, but I even switched hotels midweek in order to get back to this one. The price is appropriate for what you receive, and you will not be disappointed! We loved the Manager's reception both evenings we were there, my husband said the lady mixed a really good rum and coke. Huge free breakfast, free lunch, free cocktail hour, fridge in the room, yet they charge for Internet? I have never understood why the so called "high priced" hotels always charge for WiFi. Budget places give it away to guests. I can't understand they make all that much money on it from collected fees (I tethered my computer to my phone as I have unlimited data and free tethering). Very disappointing level of service at the front desk from several of our conference attendees. Staff was rude and did not want to be bothered with making things right, as this hotel has as its mission statement. The housecleaning staff was not very attentive as it was around 5 pm that my room was cleaned and the coffee was not replenished two of the 5 days.
