Always a great place to stay. Friendly staff are ready to answer questions and are very helpful with recommending other local places to eat. I travel four states for my work and although I don't get in this area often I prefer staying here above the other area hotels.

Older hotel than many of the Holiday Inn Hotels I frequently use. Nevertheless, I found it clean and well kept. People were very friendly and accommodating. I arrived a bit late for me, 8:30pm, and hadn't had dinner. Very fortunately, this Inn had a full service restaurant. The food was great, well priced and tasty. I was so glad I didn't have to go back out and find a restaurant!

There is not a lot to say about this property but Awesome! The location is extremely convenient to the university and central Ames. The onsite restaurant is reasonably priced and there is a wide selection. The property is well-maintained and the common areas are inviting (a lovely seating area and fireplace in the lobby). The staff are very friendly and personable (the two newest staff, Mr Jonathan and Ms Lark, are welcome additions). I also had the pleasure of speaking to the manager, Ms Carol,... Read more

Air conditioning a bit noisy. Bed was ok . room was clean. not too much to add on this hotel, convenient for business. Personnal was nice and advised us a diner restaurant for the breakfast..

Stayed at this hotel for one night at the end of June. The hotel lobby and desk help were pleasant and courteous. The room was OK but nothing special. The AC unit was very quiet and effective. Even though it was a no-smoking room, my wife could smell stale cigarette smoke. Also, the bathtub took a long time to drain after a shower. By the end of a 15 minute shower, I was standing in 3 inches of water that took forever to go down.

This hotel had the best pool I have seen at Holiday Inns across the Midwest. The kids had a blast, and the staff was exceptionally polite and accommodating to our large group! The rooms were clean and the refrigerator in the room was very convenient. I also enjoyed the new renovations in the lobby! The kids loved playing checkers while we waited, I will definitely be coming back on our annual trips! Thank you Courtney, Levi and Gabe!

He was extremely helpful when suggesting places nearby to eat dinner, as well as giving us a map and directions. Free coffee in the lobby was a plus. Hotel pool/hot tub were nice. My husband and I were looking for a nice place for dinner and decided to give this a try. The house wine was very good and a reasonable price. My husband loved that a local brewery beer was available. I had the hummus appetizer platter-delicious with a touch of pesto! Added bonus---the carrots were freshly peeled and cut-not from the bag! It was fairly quiet when I went, but I just ordered the buffalo wings appetizer for dinner. Great portion and quality for the cost! Cooks Jonathan, Dan and Will were very friendly (they took the time to come out and say hi without being awkward) and they made my meal look and taste awesome. Go try the pub chips!

Going into this I wasn't really expecting much since this is a hotel restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised. Stayed here for one night for work. I have to say that my room needed a bit more attention from the cleaning staff. Nothing was wrong per se, but seeing other people's hair on surfaces in the bathroom is less than ideal. The hotel overall is ok, we had drinks at the bar and the hotel staff was pleasant. We also had breakfast at the hotel restaurant was fine (not included with stay). The shower and hot water were fine, along with the comfort of the bed.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn as part of a wedding block. The room was a decent size and clean, and beds were comfortable. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. However, the room finishes were very tired and in need of updating with poor wall patches, peeling wallpaper and wrinkled carpet. The pool area was similarly in need of renovation. Also, we were disappointed that they didn't have a complimentary breakfast and had to pay to eat in the attached restaurant.

We selected the suite, which is working out very well. Two T.V's (2 remotes :) Plenty of chairs and tables, microwave, mini-frig and kitchen sink. For our needs, the bathroom could have had more grab bars. This is common in many hotels, so not a ding for this one. I think whoever decides where to install them and how many ... is not necessarily a person who needs to use them. I stayed here during the biannual Farm Progress fair and thought that the rate of $299 per night fort a very average room was excessive. The good bits were the comfy bed, fast WiFi and lots of parking. The bad bits were (aside from the price) tired decor, tired bathrooms, poor food choice and lousy breakfast - I expect more choice when paying this much. The wierdest thing about this hotel was the pop music played in the porch - it was just like an outside disco.

Aside from my college dorm room, this is right up there with the noisiest places I've ever slept. Either people have completely lost respect for others or assume that hotels are automatically built with soundproof walls, ceilings/floors, and doors. Someone was using the bathroom above me, and the groaning and creaking of the ceiling was drowning out the tv. I can hear every door open and close in the hallway - from the opposite end.
