I stayed may 6th to May 8th for an engagement in Chicago. Most of our family were staying at the hotel. The hotel has a nice pool, and a good restaurant (bar Louie) inside. The rooms are dated. My major issue was that I believe there were bed bugs in my room (rm 125). Most of my arms, legs, and back were covered with bites by Sunday. I still have them right now. I would be extra careful about staying here, especially if your traveling with kids.

Holiday Inn has taken what appears to be 3 properties and enclosed them into 1 space. There is a Building "A" which is the main building by the lobby and bar area, Building "B" which is on the far outer part of the hotel and is an old motel that the property put an outer wall around. Building "C" appears to be similar to building "B", except it is closer to pool area. You need to be aware of privacy as the walkways "halls" go right past the windows and you can see into the rooms very easily. The... Read more

Just across the street is McDonald's and several other restaurants, so we didn't starve. You need a car to stay here. Ask for a room away from the pool. (Some rooms face inside toward the pool and some face outside. Our room was very quiet. We didn't hear any neighbors, hallway, or parking lot noise. The pool was great. The business meeting spaces looked lovely.

My room was clean, I will give it that. And not much else. The hotel is in desperate need of some updates. My room was so dark; it faced the interior "atrium," and very little natural light came in. And even when they were ALL turned on, the poor dim light bulbs couldn't overcome the gloom. My climate control had two settings -- shiver or sweat. And I've been on planes that weren't as loud as the mini-fridge.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly, pool was nice and clean. Chemicals were not overly strong and harsh on the eyes. Nice supply in gift shop a little expensive but nice selection. Plenty of parking in front of hotel. The food was good and hot. Would recommend to family.

I have stayed here a few times because the location is great. I always book using a third party and suggest doing this. I got the room for about $80 and the hotel told me they were charging $120. With that being said, I'm sure I don't get the most up to date rooms. The ones I always stay in need fresh paint and new carpet. The staff had always been friendly and helpful. Will stay again when I'm visiting the windy city.

I stayed in this hotel for one night in room 226. While I can understand the hotel can't change the architecture of the building - some rooms with no outside windows but windows facing interior hallways - the hotel can at least be clean. Hallways needed vacuuming. Room was dirty. When I was doing yoga in my room, I noticed the curtain had a stain on it that looked like blood. And I noticed a bobby pin on the carpet near the desk that was not mine. One work - Yuck! I don't recommend this ho... Read more

Stayed here for a few days in June. Overall the place is ok but nothing special. The rooms are a bit tired and the ones facing into the hotel are very dark. The rooms have all obvious mod cons (iron and board, coffee making etc.) but the furniture is a bit old and the rooms could do with a revamp. Nevertheless its an ok hotel for a few night's stay. The breakfast buffet was average to below average (for US hotels)

Stayed here to participate in a conference. The conference facility was good. There was an issue with screens for presentation viewing but other than that, it was ok. The room was pretty standard. I also appreciated having plenty of towels without having to ask for more. It was extremely warm so multiple showers were in order. Having towels to accommodate that w... Read more

What matters to me when traveling is that I get a good night's sleep. All the rest of it, in my opinion, is just fluff. And I got a great night's sleep at the Holiday Inn in Skokie. The other thing I want to mention right away is FREE PARKING. I don't mind paying for a hotel but one thing that irks me no end is paying for parking. It just goes against the grain. This is a tired hotel that was being worked on while we were there making parking aggravating. It appears to be an outdoor hotel that was converted into an indoor hotel. I say that because the AC units vent into the newly created halls making the walk to your room a hot one.The first room they gave us smelled bad. They changed it immediately. The second one smelled much better but still wasn't up to the standards you'd expect of a Holiday Inn. Your bathroom door is also your closet door. Which m... Read more

The hotel was nice but the only thing i had to complain about is the hallway. The rooms are clean but the hallway are not. Dirty rugs, that don't look like the have been sweeped in week. and they don't even have complimentary free coffee with was a bummer. Of course they give you that yucky stuff you make in your room but I mean real brewed coffee. Location was great, right by the freeway and lots of shopping. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay. The location was good. The room was clean, but the finishes and furnishings were very dated. The pool was nice enough. Hallway carpets were dirty and the temperature was quite hot. The parking lot seemed to have many spots sets aside for priority people. I was somewhat disappointed in this place compared to other Holiday Inns we have stayed at. However it looked like they were working on the place. Overall, the place was comfortable, but it has a lot of miles on it. The hallway carpets need attention, perhaps replaced. The rooms although clean and appointed fairly well, were a little tired. The rooms are small and out of date. We are a family of 4 and we stayed 2 nights here practically tripping over one another. The pool is heated, which is nice, but closes at 9! Our family was very disappointed that we do not have a view of the city and the room is so small. May be an okay place to stay if you want to save money and you are just passing through. We chose this for the convenience to Chicago for a one-night stay, and the benefit of not paying for parking as required at downtown Chicago hotels. Don't think we would have liked multiple nights. The windows do NOT look outside, but rather to the hallway (or pool/atrium, if you're on that side). Much smaller room than I expected for a Holiday Inn.

There is a great contrast between the lobby and monstrous courtyard with the pool and the rooms. Unfortunately, they close the pool at 9pm so we were unable to use it.
