Initially I put in the notes of the reservation to put us on the highest floor possible(they have 10 floors), and if possible could we please have a patio. I understand not being able to accommodate the patio request, but when you check in at 4:10p and the highest floor available is floor #2(no rooms on first floor) it's a bit annoying, because the hotel is "sold out". You mean to tell me every other room on the higher floors have checked in or are still currently staying? Now comes the annoying part of being on the second floor of this hotel, you HAVE TO TAKE THE ELEVATOR, the only stairs that are available lead to the outside and have emergency exit alarms, you cant even take a quick set of stairs to the lobby. Super annoying because I like to park my vehicle outside of my room, so I park by my room enter a side entrance, walk across the main floor of the hotel, get an elevator(which is not fast by any stretch of the imagination) then walk back down the hall back to the room, if there were stairs I could have been in my room in half a minute or less from outside. Then when you are leaving in the morning and request an elevator to go down, when it stops on floor 2 you get the annoyed looks from other guests that can't believe you are taking an elevator for just 1 floor. One of my trips down a gentleman in the car under his breath said to an acquaintance that "if I'm on 2 I never use the elevator." Now me already being annoyed with the whole elevevator situation, I informed the man that "it is impossible and so don't get annoyed with me", in a loud, abrupt tone. Great way to start the morning, let me tell you, and if it's the middle of the day and you need an elevator and both cars are sitting on floor one it takes literally 30-45 seconds before the elevator reaches floor two and opens the doors another, when I could have been in my car and already on Spring Rd. had there been a staircase. The weather the past few days in Chicagoland had been beautiful low to mid 80's and sunshine, except for the morning of check out and I'll get back to that. So with all the beautiful weather, you would think the outdoor lounge/patio would be tidy, but it was not at all, cushions all over the place, an empty Lagunitas IPA beer bottle along with a cocktail glass sat on a table during my entire 4 night stay, I have a few photos of the bar patio condition over a few days time span, I guess someone needed to move the sunshade, but couldn't pitch the bottle or bring in the glass. Garbage in the landscaping along exterior of hotel, and a stray linen on the sidewalk(pics of these as well). Breakfast buffet is ok, only 3 of the 4 slots in the toaster work(use the two on the right) I did not know this and ended up with one toasted English muffin and one warm. The juice just gets poured into these non-refridgerated dispensers, and breakfast runs from 6-10 so you can imagine the temperature of the juices at 930a(almost room temp). I had to improvise, styrofoam coffee cup that I filled with ice from a cooler that I don't think guests are supposed to be using and then I get my juice. Very strange setup because after breakfast the buffet area turns into prep for the restaurant. The restaurant, if you want to call it that has an open view into the kitchen and you can see the cooks, this is a Hilton Hotel, not a diner. Morning of checkout, I turn on the TV and I get a "no signal" on both sets, then I get some frozen pixelation, I call the front desk and state that I have no signal on either of my sets, front desk states that it's probably because of "the storm" rolling through. It was raining yes, but hardly a storm, the desk clerk said she cold send maintenance up but it probably isn't going going to do anything. Couldn't watch the local news, in my hotel room on either of the tv's because of rain.......room overall was clean but tired, wallpaper peeling. Cabinets or faux cabinets by mic/fridge banged up, one of the fake cabinet doors that was permanently affixed was crooked(forgot to snap pic). Heating/air is poor as well, the room is either too cold or too hot, no auto setting, temp was at 64° in room and freezing and turned it up to 73°, I didn't want the heater on, but woke up in the middle of the night in the bedroom portion soaking wet with sweat and heat blowing out. The pics of the patio go in chronological order, notice the last morning the table is wet after the TV signal disrupting "storm" rolled through.
