The Hampton in Mattoon is what you expect from all Hampton Inns. Clean, spacious room, excellent front desk service and a great breakfast. Only minor complaints were slow internet and the price which seemed a bit high for a hotel in a relatively rural area,

This hotel is a very good alternative for staying in if you travel for an event to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. The quality of service you'd receive versus price is great. The property is very clean and well maintained, staff is very friendly, breakfast is awesome. There is Buffalo Wild Wings 4 minutes away by car. Highly recommend this Hampton Inn location!

The customer service at this hotel is the greatest. They called on Monday of the week we were going to arrive to see if there was anything they could do to make our stay more enjoyable. We arrived on Wednesday and they had all of our check in paperwork done.

Not much to say which is a good thing! The place was clean, the rooms were really nice, and the staff were helpful. The only issue that we had with the place is the pool could have been a bit cleaner. Will definitely stay here again.

The pool had 100's of dead gnats floating on top of the water. Could not use this pool. There also was no water flow it seemed like water was still. Very unfortunate. The pool is very important and is disappointing when it can't be used.

Stayed in a King room. Had room for a blowup bed for our two younger girls. Nice clean room. Bed was very comfortable. Furniture nice with decent flat screen TV. The comforter wasn't some cheap blanket like many hotels provide - it was a nice down like comforter. Breakfast was good but the room was small so had to wait for a few minutes. The pool was warm and very clean. Small exercise room but did the job. Will be back next year.

All hotels were sold out in town due to a sporting event, but got this at the last minute. I had googled for a phone number for this hotel and wasn't aware it was a 3rd party site. Found out there was NO microwave or frig in the room, which is unusual, no hot water in the sink (told the man at desk, who said he'd ask his supervisor about it, never heard back), hard bed, noisy a/c unit, loud kids running and screaming in the halls in the middle of the night, below average breakfast. Friendly staff upon check-in. Asked and received a quiet room. On the second floor and heard nothing during my stay. Room clean and well-kept. The armchair could use re-upholstering but comfortable nonetheless.

Upon arrival could not find any parking. Front desk wasn't very helpful or polite. The room was outdated and very loud air conditioning. The breakfast was not good at all. Sausage was cold, gravy was greasy. They need to clean a lot better after people if they are gonna have free breakfast. Hard to find clean area to eat, and breakfast bar was dirty .I also had tiny ants on my Danish, very gross. We are enrolled in the Hilton honors and this hotel I would not recommend for the money. Mattoon is a small Illinois college town just north of the intersections of I-57 and I-70 and well worth your consideration as a place to spend the night and relax...and this is the place to do it. We have been returning to this Hampton for many years. It is in a very quiet location just off the interstate. The staff is great (we received a nice welcome from Doug on the front desk, who provided us with a discount coupon to the most popular steak house in town) and the rooms are quiet. Among ... I have used Hampton Inns before for business trips and knew that I wanted to stay at one for an overnight stay during our 600 mile road trip. We reserved a room at the Mattoon, IL location and were completely satisfied with the accommodations. The front desk staff were courteous and very helpful, the room was clean and worry-free, and the breakfast was delicious and filling. As a mom with two young children the cleanliness of the bedrooms and the filling breakfast were two important items that H... Read more

Not great, not bad. Fitness center is tiny, but it does have a set of dumbells. Going along with fitness, I did appreciate the smell of freshly baked cookies walking in the door. Rooms are just fine. Nothing special. Just boring. Location is close to a bunch of ok restaurants. I recommend the BBQ place.

This Hampton is okay but not great. However, it may be one of the better hotels in the area other than Holiday Inn Express. Furniture in room was outdated. There were stains on the sofa sleeper and mattress. Front desk staff were friendly.

We stopped here heading from Wisconsin to Southern Missouri. The lobby seemed like a typical HI but our room ( which was not a suite) was exceptionally large and nicely layed out. The staff was very pleasant and we would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Our only suggestion for improvement was the typical Hampton Inn breakfast needed more staff to support the number of guests as the one lady couldn't seem up with the breakfast inventory and cleaning the tables.

The room was ok.....older decor with a very strong musty smell. I've never done a review before but I usually check them out. So if that is what you do drive past this Hampton. When you roll over in the middle of the night and the only thing that comes to your mind is it really stinks that's not good. We like staying at Hamptons because the beds are great and the rooms are usually clean. For the $ I expect more.

Stayed here for a couple nights with my wife and kids. It certainly isn't the fanciest of hotels, but it definitely fit what we were doing. We were at EIU for Family Weekend so didn't stay at the hotel for very long. It is right off I-57 so certainly accessible. If I'm needing a hotel again, I'll likely stay here again.

The room smelled like mildew, very crowded room, bathtub drain was rusty/corrosion on it. Their continental breakfast was not very good as the waffle machine did not work. There was not a variety of food like you would normally see at this type of hotel. Thought it was overpriced due to Eastern University's family weekend.

On the plus side, the staff was very nice and breakfast had adequate choices for proteins. The bed is comfortable. The internet worked well as did the TV. We had a double queen because they were out of kings but this makes the room really cramped and there is only one small night stand between the two beds. If both people need a place to keep glasses, phone and medical necessities, you are out of luck. The closet is on the far side of the room away from the bathroom. The one issue that ... Read more

The room was nice as usual with a Hampton Inn, but being a member I did not receive the usual treatment and information I am accustomed to. I had to find the Fitness Center by sheer luck on my floor near the elevator, which I did not use because I prefer to use the stairs. I also wasn't greeted as a Member, told about parking, but did hear about breakfast in the morning.

I love the things I can depend on at a Hampton Inn. Places to plug in my electronics that I can reach. Cookies upon arrival. I've stayed at this hotel previously and the quality continues to be good. The breakfast proteins could perhaps be a bit less institutional. And full fat Greek yoghurt would be nice.
