The Hilton Orrington is centrally located with friendly staff, clean facilities, and comfortable rooms. We were surprisingly upgraded to an amazing suite on the 8th floor at no extra charge during our last stay. Excellent location for visiting our daughter at NU. Nice breakfast as well.

First time stay at the Orrington was in the early 60's. Always great and since becoming a Hilton property, a wonderful hotel. Everything superb but you have to be willing to put up with the smallest bathrooms on the planet. Goes with converting old hotels. Great shower space and beautiful bath accessories and towels but hardly room to shave or as my wife complained "do" her hair and make-up. Bathroom lighting is very marginal as well. Luxury furnishings in the room, wifi, TV very nice. Pillows a... Read more

Hotel Staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean. The restaurant food was diverse and very tasty. This was a business conference and the conference rooms were very clean and the meeting was efficient. The continental breakfast, lunches, and dinners were excellent. A lot of healthy choices. I have nothing but compliments and satisfaction!

This hotel is older. but renovated so has a great feel despite smaller rooms. The staff is amazing-helpful, friendly and attentive. The feel of the lobby is great. The location is great if you want to be near NU or public transportation into Chicago. The general Manager, Mike, is always "nearby" greeting guests as if it were his own home!

This hotel is right across from Northwestern University. The location, being in the city, meant that there was easy walking access to some bars, restaurants and shops in addition to the University, which is always a bonus when on business. Due to being there for a conference, there was a block room rate set up by Northwestern for us. The front desk staff was less than helpful/understanding in the fact that I needed my room to be charged to the procurement card of my own place of business. In... Read more

Hilton Orrington in Evanston, Illinois (Northwestern University). My family has stayed at the Orrington before and have found it to be a good hotel that is conveniently located to Northwestern University. Unfortunately, this occasion let me down. I have never experienced an air-conditioner that was so loud. When it turned on I felt like I was sleeping on an El platform. I couldn't open the window because even though it was a nice evening, my room was located above the hotel air conditioner... Read more

Hotel in Evanston is a short drive to Loyola campus and much more convenient than staying at a downtown hotel and hassling the commute from there. Hotel staff is great. Lots of great little restaurants around the hotel and a Whole Foods a block away as well.

The hotel is about 1/2 hour from the airport and is very convenient to the University. The facilities are nice and the rooms fairly clean. The conference rooms are on top of the building and there are some nice views from there, but the 9th floor balcony is locked - probably for safety reasons. The rooms are okay, but I knew I should have run when I saw the complementary ear plugs on the dresser. Clearly they know they have a noise problem, but the ear plugs are the best they can do?? My cousin and I requested to pay half and half with two credit cards. The hotel assured us this would be possible. The hotel has billed me the entire amount. I am still trying to unravel this issue and have 1/2 the amount put on my cousins credit card. Otherwise the hotel was very good. Peeling paint in the bath tub was not up to Hilton standards in my opinion. Nicely designed rooms. The ironing board hit me in the face when I opened the closet door.

It is Hilton, so it has quality guarantee, but the bathroom in my room is so small, the faucet almost takes up the whole sink and you can barely wash your face or brush your teeth there. The sound insulation is also not that good, I can even hear the guest in the next room snoring.

Overpaid for very average stay.I would say that for the amount I paid for this room I should have been upgraded to a suite. The hotel is perfectly located near Northwestern. However, you have to wonder if this is truly a Hilton hotel. The rooms are dank and musty. The bathrooms are so small that you have to be a member of Cirque de Soleil to negotiate them. The front desk rarely answers the phone until the 11th ring. And when they do answer, they are often unhelpful and inhospitable. Sometimes, the person at the front desk is downright surly! Sadly, the choices in Evanston for hotels are few. Classic hotel convenient to Northwestern. Stayed in the beautiful Dean Suite with friends and enjoyed entertaining my classmates during my reunion in its space and comfort. Beds were great. Bar was lively.

I was impressed with the layout and appearance of this hotel. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The King size bed was perfect for getting a good nights rest, so much that I did not want to get up. There was a plush chair in the corner, full size mirror and a desk to work on. My eighth floor room provided a glimpse of Lake Michigan (caveat: the bathroom in the king bed room was very tightly packed together. A larger sized person should be aware when requesting this room. Could be di... Read more

The hotel is older but it serves the purpose in Evanston. The rooms are below average in size but beds are very comfortable and clean. The bathrooms are small but overall works fine. The elevators are slow so be prepared to wait if the hotel is crowded. The bar on the main floor is nice and the staff is friendly. Finally, if you valet your car, make sure you plan in advance as they get backed up pretty quickly at check out time.

We stayed here for parents weekend at Northwestern, and the hotel is extremely well located -- you can walk to campus. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all it has going for it. Our room was small and our bathroom was tiny -- a little sink wedged in the corner. The elevators are slow and the fitness center for the past two days was packed -- you had to wait (a long time) to use it. Plus, the $12 glass of house pinot grigio at the bar seems a bit much. Then again, the price for a room (expec... Read more

My husband, daughter and I had a very nice stay at the Hilton Orrington in Evanston. The staff was friendly and the room was spacious and comfortable. The location relative to the Northwestern campus can't be beat!

We recently stayed at the Orrington hotel in Evanston, IL. for 4 days. It has an excellent location in downtown Evanston with large very clean rooms and a wonderful staff. All in all we had a delightful stay.

Hotel is close to Northwestern University and is centrally located in the center of Evanston, making it a good place to stay. With that said, the hotel takes advantage of that and that there are only a couple of hotel in the area. This hotel needs a complete renovation of the rooms, especially the bathrooms. The staff needs to be better informed and offer more information the guests.

Suite was nice and roomy. Bed was comfortable and had nice linens. The valet was very nice and accommodating. WE enjoyed our stay and will return soon. I would not hesitate to stay at the Hilton again!

We stay here for student drop off and parent weekend. The hotel could use some updates on some of the floors. The staff is really amazing. The go out of their way to be helpful. And you cannot beat the location - it is a block from south campus.

Looking for a good location outside of the city while visiting friends in Chicago. The location was amazing, close to lots of little shops and restaurants and it was nice to have the farmers market in the parking lot behind the hotel on the weekend. Great to poke around, check out local artists and pick up some produce. Short walk to the beach and with the great weather the location couldnt have been better. The hotel staff were very friendly, but I did find the hotel quite busy with confer... Read more

The room temp would vary a TON with the slightest adjustment of the thermostat. The bathrooms are incredibly tiny, you almost step in the toilet getting out of the shower. The room was clean and the staff was average. Valet is the only option for parking, and it's pricey. The breakfast staff/service was lovely, but we were at a wedding the night before, and that service and food wasn't as notable.

The lobby of this hotel is nonexistent. There is no parking. This is the most expensive hotel in Evanston, but my room was really small and had an awkward shape to it. It was noisy all night long. I won't stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel twice in 2016; once for a brief relocation visit with family and once for three weeks while we actually relocated to Evanston from out of town. Both times we experienced exceptional service from everyone at the hotel, from the parking staff to the bellhops, front desk and housekeeping. As a matter of fact, this hotel is my preferred Hilton hotel in Evanston (there are two). The location is great and within walking distance to Northwestern University, shops and tons of restau... We had an all around pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly. It felt clean, modern and upscale. The room was very comfortable and somewhat larger than we're used to. There's no overnight parking in the immediate vicinity so we used the valet parking. This was efficient and reasonable at $23/day. The room rate was also reasonable. All in all, we feel that we got a good deal staying at this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel on general-election week because the hotels downtown Chicago were booked or otherwise too expensive. On the positive side, the room and the lobby are comfortable. Regarding the location, while the hotel is about an hour from Chicago downtown, it is 5-minute walk to a CTA train station and a Metra train station. It is steps away from Northwestern University. There are also a lot of decent restaurants nearby. On the negative side, direct trains to Chicago downtown only run d... Read more

Animal Friendly Hotel. I understand that pets are important to many. Many go on vacation or travel w/o pets please don't impose your pet on others. Peanut allergies are respected but other allergies like pet hair/dander are not. I don't want to check in to a room where animals have left my allergies behind.

Good location. The hotel is quiet. The bathroom is very small. The staff are indifferent and just doing their job. Nothing special. Not sure if I would book this hotel again. There are better hotels a few miles away.
