Friendly and very helpful staff. Uchi was very accommodating. Location allowed us to see the outer skirts and frequent bars & restaurants in the Downer's Grove/Lombard area as well as all the thrift stores. The drive into and back from Chicago was decent and allowed us to enjoy the north, east, south and west sides of the city as well. The room was very clean and the location very quiet.

I picked out the Red Roof Inn in Downers Grove Illinois based on higher than usual positive reviews. When I walked into the room it's clear that it has been recently repainted with newer laminate flooring however, that's where the nice ends. The toilet bowl is dirty, the toilet seat is dirty, the tub is dirty, every place you look closely you're going to see dirt. Having been a fan of the Hotel Impossible TV show I've learned when checking-in to pull the sheets back and inspect the bedding expec... Read more

I had made reservations in advance for a one night stay at this property. I prefer a first floor and with this chain I like to stay in an exterior entrance type room. Most Red Roof Inns are this style but not all. I always put under special request that I would like them to hold a first floor room for me. Sadly the majority appear not to look at your reservation till you arrive to check in and if that is after 6 pm you do not have much of a choice. Many times I will call early in the day and con... It was a room to sleep in, and it was fine. Very clean. The one-king-bed room was small and had only one rolling chair, but the point was to have a convenient place to sleep there that night. Front desk folks were great on check-in and check-out. Wireless was spotty. If I were queen of the world, I would have supplied less exuberant pillows.

Thanks to Uchi at the front desk, who treats all guests the same no matter their attitude. Thank you to Equnya who cleans my room. Always the professional and works with my schedule if I happen to be there when she is ready to clean my room.

From the moment we walked into the room and the foul stench filled our nostrils we knew this was a night's stay we would soon regret. 100% non smoking rooms? Wow you've got to be kidding. A combination of cigarette smoke and sickly sweet unsuccessful air "fresheners" to hide it turned out stomachs. A quick inspection of the bed revealed an array of dark hairs, both on top of the flat sheet and pasted to the fitted sheet. Could it be that Bigfoot slept here? Not sure, but when we returned to th... Read more

2 towels and 1 washcloth for a party of three. Tub had a black footprint in it. Blankets had red spots on them. Yuck! Is that blood or what? Sink has a big crack in the bowl. We tried not to look too closely at the dirt bcz we are stuck here for the night. They have newer laminate flooring, which is a step in the right direction. We won't be back.

I can't brag enough on this place. The hotel is great ....the location is wonderful and in the middle of a really fun and event filled town. But what sets the place apart is the people that work here. We (a group of 4 business travelers) have frequent this location numerous time in the past year and have experienced nothing but total care and hospitality from everyone at the hotel. Everyone is helpful and kind but Erica, Uchi, James, and a couple others at the front desk (I can't recall their na... Read more

I had the pleasure of staying here on Monday for a business meeting on Tuesday. The staff was great. Friendly as soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with a warm hello and welcoming me to their hotel. Ouchie I hope I spelled her name correctly. She was excellent told me how to get to a Starbucks and all. The room was clean and neat. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Chicago.

I was look for a place to relax and get a piece of mind, but was not looking to spend a great deal of money. As i uses the trip app Red Roof Downers Grove is the choice i selected. Being that all Red Roof dont have the best reviews i still decided to go cause it was in the price range i was looking to pay. Walking in to the door you enter in to a beautiful lobby being greeted with some of the best coustmer services. When i got to my room it was the most outstanding cleanest room with the most am... Lower than average room, 3 females and we didn't feel too secure. No frills, not too clean. We were in a non-smoking room but found ashes in the bathroom. Mattress was comfy.Had to call for towels; then they didn't have any extras. Good enough for us to sleep overnight.

I've stayed at this hotel numerous times on my trips to Chicago. Always much cheaper than staying in the city. Only five minutes away from the train station in Downers Grove too. Check in was always quick, rooms were clean, and the location is perfect. The hotel is right next to a Hooters, a large mall right across the streets, and numerous restaurants within a mile or two. So I would recommend this hotel any day of the week. The only real negative is the bathrooms. They could use a little upgra... Read more

This is the best motel I've been to. A nice surprise. It's clean, well priced, & free wifi + HBO , and friendly staff. Next to Yorktown Centre helps too. Please note the 5 stars is not to compare this to Sheraton.

Betty is excellent as her work ethic is like no other and understand why she is head housekeeper. She always has a smile on her face and is so pleasant to talk to. Also she always goes above and beyond when cleaning a room. It is because of her that I stay here.

The biggest plus..the beds are good. The bathroom was small and needing some fixing up. Did not get enough towles and when i called about more i had to go find the housekeeper. In a area of stores and restaurants...and close by of where he had to be. Kinda seems like a sketchy hotel. Not impressed at all.

You pay for what you get. Front desk very cordial and extremely welcoming. Complimentary 24 hour coffee big plus. Convenient to stores, restaurants: Hooters, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc. Rooms fairly clean with new flooring. Great air conditioning. Beds comfortable. Microwave and refrigerator in upgraded rooms. On the negative, a tissue box would be more beneficial than a tiny packet of tissues that you would typically put in your purse. Had trouble checking in because the host cancelled my reservation. The tub was very dirty when first arriving to room. Had a 5 night stay. Took until the 4th day to have bed made and new towels in the room. Only left 1 clean towel in a room with 2 beds. Returning to room on 4th night the keys were deactivated. Host said we were only put down for one night stay. Only good thing about stay was close to businesses for food and shopping.

I reserved the room based on the 4 out of 5 rating on here and am very disappointed. Downers Grove is a nice area with lots of shops and restaurants but the hotel is dingy and old. The whole room felt very dingy. We found ants by the sink when we arrived. I wouldn't use the bathroom until my husband went out and bought bleach cleaner....the toilet wasn't cleaned very well and the tub was, again, very dingy. If a nearby hotel had room for my family of 5, we would have left but we couldn't find... Read more

This is not a luxury hotel, so make sure you go in with expectations accordingly. My friend and I did a quick weekend visit to Chicago. Just needed somewhere to sleep for one night and shower in the morning. Really, this place is fine. It was clean. I am no cleaning expert but I do have above average standards and never felt like it was dirty. I certainly felt safe even though there were a lot of people hanging outside their rooms up until at least 1AM. (But I mean, so were we, lol.) And by peop... Read more

An average budget hotel with a few frills such as in room fridge and microwave. The price is reasonable and the staff polite. Be aware though that if you stay more that one night the cleaning staff only visit every other day. If you want new towels you have to get them yourself. The parking is ample and free and the motel is close to the interstate ( toll road ). I have been to better budget motels.

We stayed while getting flooring installed at home. It was a basic 2 bed room. No extras. Coffee maker was in the office-lobby. Also had ice in hall and an in room safe. Watch for a safe fee that can be avoided. No hair dryer, iron or other amenities. The TV was decent and the menu worked and had cable channels. The room floor was fairly clean as my white socks proved. The location is near major highways and toll roads with plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby.

I did not pay a lot to stay here, so I had pretty low expectations. The room appeared clean, everything worked, and the front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I slept poorly, mostly because of the noise of revving engines and doors slamming late into the night. I don't know if management was afraid to confront the problem guests or what. Also, the beds were not comfortable. It is in a good location off the highway, and it can be hard to find a decent place to stay that doesn't cost a for... Read more

My husband and I stayed in downers grove for 6 days and red roof inn proved clean and their staff friendly and accommodating (especially when we lost our room key card). We had many states to visit then and it was surely the most budget friendly. Down side is.. fast food and convenience stores are not walking distance and a car is a must.

The phrase "You get what you pay for" comes to mind. The room certainly needed a face lift and I suspect by the musky stale smell that I encountered as I entered the room that it hadn't been deep cleaned since the initial conversion to a smoke free facility. But the sheets and mattress were clean, there was an in room bathroom and when the air was on, all road noise was sufficiently blocked for a good night's rest. Mattress comfort is subjective, but it was relatively firm if that's a concern... Read more

Let me start off by saying the staff is very friendly and accommodating. James the maintenance guy changed the air conditioner out and replaced it with a working one. He was quick and efficient..... My issues were the floor made my feet black. It was disgustingly dirty. Which then made the sheets dirty. And the towels had black stains, like kiwi boot polish on them. I think with a few simple adjustments in the cleaning standards, a great improvement is easy to acheive.

The staff here are fantastic and very friendly but the walls are paper thin. Someone in the next room got up in the middle of the night and the water running woke me up and I sleep like a log. I've had the pleasure of staying at this location for over a month. The weekly rate is such a bargain! The room has two double beds with microwave and refrigerator. DAVID (front desk) is such a pleasure to deal with! He is certainly an asset to your company! He is more than helpful and polite when dealing with guests. Margaret (housekeeping) is very good at her job. All in all my stay has been great!
