We live an hour and a half away, so we visit Chicago multiple times a year. I've stayed in more than a dozen nice hotels here, and the Waldorf Astoria is my favorite. From the moment you pull into the courtyard to valet your car (so much easier this way than on a busy road), bags are taken care of for you, check-in is smooth and quick with the occasional upgrade as available, and nobody accepts tips. I've tried to tip several employees and they really won't accept anything. The restaurant is... Read more

We stayed here in the summer of 2015 and had an incredible stay. Every detail was important to the hotel staff and they went to great lengths to ensure the stay was excellent. The car service was very convenient and the no topping policy makes it easy to not worry about having appropriate tips available at all times. I would definitely recommend a stay here, we'll be back!

Great friendly staff always on hand to help. No tipping policy which helps save those embarrassing awkward moments. Great facilities in the centre of the City not far from god shops and restaurants. Maybe a little overpriced.

Stayed in two Hilton property for weekend getaway in Chicago. Stayed in Waldorf Astoria Chicago for Friday night as it is one of the best in the Hilton family properties in the world; stayed in Palmer House for Saturday night as it was the very first Hilton hotel I stayed when visiting Chicago very first time in 1997 and WA does not any rooms available for Saturday... Well, what a contrast experience... Everything at WA is perfect - the elegance, the comfortableness, the luxuriousness, the at... Read more

Terrible, they charge US 800+ per room and they give you the worst view in the building. I made my reservation almost 3 months in advance and they make you feel like you are in a two star hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel or the one in NY. Go to four seasons or ritz Carlton.

My wife and I wanted to do something special for our 10 year wedding anniversary and we chose to stay at the Waldorf in Chicago. What a smart choice. It is a first class hotel from the minute you arrive. A bottle of champagne was chilling in our room and everyone we came in contact with was ready to made every minute more enjoyable. We stayed in the deluxe king room with the fireplace. It was the perfect room for our perfect occasion. Thank you Waldorf Chicago for existing to make us feel ... Read more

We visited the Waldorf Chicago for the first time last year for our anniversary and had a fantastic time. The hotel staff was very kind and extremely helpful. Chicago has some of the best architecture in the US too. The hotel was well appointed as expected. The room was great, the staff was attentive, and the spa was fabulous. A real highlight was the waterfall type of shower in the spa. It's been a very long time since we stayed at a Waldorf property. We've also been able to visit the Waldorf in Puerto Rico. I was skeptical about the Waldorf Astoria, as part of the Hilton chain; I was expecting to be treated more as a client than a guest. Hilton properties are cookie-cut hotels that all are the same. Fortunately, I was wrong, as Waldorf Astoria Chicago is a hotel full of personality with really kind and useful staff. We had breakfast as part of our rate; otherwise I would have skipped it as it is pricey. The food quality is very good and the service great. The restaurant ambience is very elegant. ... Read more

Every staff member goes above and beyond what is asked of them to make sure that your stay is comfortable and relaxing. My room wasn't ready when I arrived, but they did offer me an upgrade for $60 a night, which I had to take because I was short on time. Suite was really nice, but didn't love paying for it. The room was for some reason very warm, I am very grateful they had a fan to put in the room. The only big issue I had was a charge on my card when I got home for something from the minibar. I called and they promptly took care of the issue. Love the area the hotel is in.

The Waldorf Astoria in Chicago was a sensational hotel. We were able to get a gorgeous suite through their summer sale. The furniture was elegant and the location perfect. It was close enough to all the spots but located on a quiet street. It's a smaller hotel which made it that more special. The only drawback was the $70 overnight parking but we found a lot around the corner for only $20. We would stay there again if we came back to Chicago.

A large bathroom. Separate tub, shower, and toilet. The spa was nice. An outdoor sitting area with a relaxed atmosphere. Swimming pool and elevator were the bad parts of the stay. Elevators were slow and kept requiring maintenance. Swimming pool needs proper stairs. It is a lap pool that requires you to climb down the wall with steps embedded in the wall. It was very dangerous. The food was good. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again. The location is great. Just... Read more

The hotel's location is excellent, a few minutes walk from the Magnificient Mile and the Lake. Our room was well-appointed and pleasantly furnished, however the bathroom mirror had a crack. The service was disappointedly slow both for room service and other requests. The elevator doors looked like they needed a good cleaning. Overall, we would have expected a little more attention to detail and better service. For the same price range there are several other better hotel options in the area.

The rooms were lovely, the beds incredibly comfortable, the room service was actually incredible and the nice touch of toiletries didn't go unnoticed either (they have the most wonderful line of Salvatore Ferragamo soaps)

Wonderful location! They were having an incredibly busy weekend so rushed to get our room ready and left a few dirty places in the bathroom. For the price, the room should be impeccable. We usually stay at the Four Seasons but wanted to try something new. It was nice but not the Four Seasons.

My family and I stayed here a few weeks ago and we so pleased to have had the help from an extraordinary personal concierge Sofia W. She thought of everything from restaurants, activities for our little ones, placing toys and special treats in the room to even helping us arrange transportation with the Waldorf's car service. No request was too small or too large and she did it with such a pleasant demeanor. Of course the rooms are top notch and the decor is very Parisian. Danielle and Patrick in... Read more

The Waldorf Astoria was a beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago. We really enjoyed our stay there. I would recommend this hotel as a luxurious stay in downtown Chicago. I have stayed at many downtown hotels in Chicago and this was probably my favorite so far!

I adore this hotel and we've experienced a number of the Waldorf properties. It is gorgeous and well appointed and ideally located. Rooms are lovely and spacious and quiet. We happened to be there WS home stand weekend and it was nuts but they managed to keep it tame & civilized. As a result, I did not complain about the following (knowing they would be hard pressed to move us with no rooms available and that's partly how we ended up here in the first place--but that's another review). Room smel... Read more

Everything was impeccable. The rooms were well appointed and luxurious. The little things really went a long way, for example, when I called for a wake up call, I was asked if I would like a reminder call 15 minute later. Also, Jermaine at reception went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and even remembered it was my birthday. Upon leaving he wished me happy birthday, knew what car was waiting for me and escorted me as well. Thanks for going above and beyond.

If you don't mind spending an extra few dollars, the Waldorf Astoria is a definite go to if visiting Chicago. Absolutely top notch service and rooms. No tip policy (save for room service where gratitude is included). We have stayed here over 5 times and have not been disappointed yet. Well worth the extra money!

Overall hotel is exactly what you would expect for the price you pay! Service and room is great! The only issue I had was when I was out of the room for a few hours, I came back and it looked like someone had went in our room. Toilet paper roll was re-done, water bottle was sitting next to the bed and the blinds were shut, none of which had been done by me before I left. I was a little shocked to see that someone came in the room while I was not there, but more so that I had no authorized anyone... Read more

What can I say, other than our stay was amazing! We are an ordinary working class family, who decided to splurge on a special weekend treat. We were a little worried that this hotel might "Pretty Woman" us, but from check in to check out we were treated the same as if we had been A list celebrities. Our suite was amazing, and best of all the Windows actually opened, which made for an excellent night sleep. Make sure you pack a swim suit as the spa is fabulous and you will want to take advanta... I have stayed at a few hotels in downtown Chicago and this was by far the best stay I have had. The hotel is in such immaculate shape that it almost seems like it is a brand new hotel. Our room, double queen room, seemed suite-like. Large shower and gigantic soaking tub in a flawless bathroom. A stocked wet bar including a hidden microwave and ice already included in a pullout freezer. Nice small touches. Bathroom is quite large with a large shower, large soaking tub, dual vanities and a TV behind one of them. There are actual mats on the floor, you don't have to put down towels. There is also a scale. If you're weight conscious like myself it's a necessity and nice to compare this scale to the one you use at home :-) Gym is nice. Walking through the spa area first gives it a good feel. Treadmill ( complete with rolled towel awaiting the user) was very stable and high-end wit... Read more

Fantastic room: large bathroom with windows, working gas fireplace, good size balcony, modern stylish decor but beware it's all grey, black and white (I personally see this as an epidemic in contemporary design for hotels). Great service, very clean and feels new. Friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast served a la carte (no buffet). Good food, bad coffee. Well stocked fridge in the room but no tea. Fabulous location for arts lovers, shoppers, foodies and those on a romantic get-away trip. T... Read more

In a perfect location, a beautiful hotel, great spa. Restaurant could improve, but otherwise a perfect place. There are great boutiques nearby and great restaurants around the corner. The service is exceptional and I appreciate that our hotel status has been recognized here. Our rooms here have been flawless and the rooms are large I like their décor. This is really a review of two different Saturday nights this past summer, one in June and one in July. My wife and I were in the market for a new mattress and were informed at our local mattress purveyor that The Waldorf had a particular brand in one of their rooms that could be specifically reserved. Intrigued by the ability to try the mattress out overnight, we, through our sales person, booked that room for the night of our fifth wedding anniversary, which happened to be a Saturday. A qui... My husband and I are currently staying at the Waldorf. We were given a complimentary upgrade (when asked) to a luxury suite with fireplace and balcony. The suite is nice but it does have the Hilton brand sprinkled all over it. I consider the Hilton to be a low end to mediocre hotel chain. The temperature outside is in the 70's so the fireplace goes unused. The balcony faces construction. The nicest part of the suite is the bathroom which is large and very functional with 2 sinks and separat... Read more

If you enjoy a quiet, intimate elegant hotel , this is the place. It is beautifully appointed, the service is first class. It is everything one would ever want in a top rated property. There is however two things that bothered me. The hallways, which are beautifully decorated as the entire hotel is, have low ceilings and are narrow. I got a claustrophobic feeling walking to my suite. Everything about the suite was magnificent except the living room was also a bit small .But the fireplace, balco... Read more

Because my husband decided to join me following one of my work trips to Chicago, we opted for a Waldorf Suite at the Waldorf Astoria. As others have commented, the hotel is quiet and elegant; the website accurately reflects the room we received. Only one minor concern upon check-in relating to the fireplace was quickly fixed by hotel maintenance. We struggled a bit with the light switches but finally figured them out.
