We were pleased to stay at W City Centre for 4 days in July 2015, as part of our celebration for our 10th wedding anniversary. The suite was immaculate, and the staff went above and beyond whenever we needed help. From the pleasant greeting on arrival to the warm smile farewell, we felt like we were the raison d'etre for the place. We were especially pleased with the exquisite service and cuisine in the restaurant, where we had our anniversary dinner.

Stayed her for 2 nights while attending a business meeting. The architecture is beautiful - yet the sleeping rooms are updates with the modern flare that all W hotels are known for. Was welcomed immediately by the friendly staff and "upgraded" to a larger room with 2 beds - no view but it was a comfortable room. I appreciated that they are one of the few hotels I've stayed at recently that honored their "staying green" pledge. They asked if I wanted to forgo forgo automatic housekeeping and ... Read more

We got this hotel on priceline for a last minute trip for a great price & were very happy with everything. The rooms were small but I'm convinced hotels have "travel site rooms". It was nice that they had coffee in the morning & water with fruit all day available. Everything was very nice & exactly what I expected - not giving a 5 star rating because it's not a 5-star hotel. Location was easy to get to from the subway & a short walk to the lakefront.

My wife booked the room so I know that she didn't pay the "rack rate" but my son and I both agreed that our standard room at the W Chicago - City Center Hotel was the arguably the best standard room we have ever had! The staff were gracious and the location was convenient for us as we used the "L" as our only transportation while visiting Chicago to attend baseball games at both U.S. Cellular Field (White Sox) and iconic Wrigley Field (Cubs) for baseball games.

Beautiful historic building with modern decor. We were upgraded to a premium room as I'm an SPG Gold member. The hotel seemed short staffed, as the main lobby had empty glasses and plates lying around. The business center printer was not working. Staff was more aloof than most other Starwood properties.

Stayed for a friends weekend getaway and we were very happy with the W. We enjoyed the living room lounge for drinks and appetizers. Also had an awesome breakfast at their IPO Restaurant including delicious fresh fruit, omelettes and bacon...yum. The modern rooms were very nice and all staff friendly and accommodating. This hotel is well located, walking distance to everything within the City. Clean, welcoming and quiet. Nicely decorated but not too much. Concierge was helpful with directions to start our adventure and the return home. You can easily take the Chicago train service (orange line) from Midway airport for a minimal fee compared to taking a taxi.

We checked in early, was placed on the SPG floor due to my membership, and we received two complementary drink tickets at the bar. The staff were friendly, and the flavored water at check-in was great. The lobby is very trendy, and when we checked into our room we weren't disappointed. The room was large, as was the bathroom. I really had no complaints, especially because the hotel was centrally located near Michigan Ave (10 min walk) and the staff were so helpful. I would recommend to others.

The hotel is located in the Chicago Loop area which is great for business and less so for a vacation visit. A preferred location will be just north of the river. The hotel is an older hotel which was redone a bit for the W brand. It is nice enough and close to the museum of art. The service is great and they have a great bar. Pick a room which is high up as you can pay for as you can clearly the "L" on lower floors. The bathroom is way too small with no shelves or hooks for towels and personal t... Read more

The W in Chicago City Center was a fun experience, and the hotel was very nice. We usually stay at more refined, traditional hotels, so this was a unique experience. The front desk staff were very polished and professional, and we enjoyed the infused water at check-in. The entire hotel is draped in dark, subdued tones & even cool holographic wallpaper which transports you to a very chic, night clubby mindset. It makes you feel revived and ready to have fun! Really enjoyed staying at the W. Very cool decor - typical W Hotel. Great location, very clean rooms and cool hotel bar. The only thing was parking was very expensive - about $70/night. Rooms that are on the west end of the building may also find the noise from the El to be disturbing.

Stayed here for a conference in June. Great modern rooms with all the extras. Very well stocked fridge (cokes, beer, Liquor) along with numerous snacks above the desk area. Even a full bottle of wine and wine glasses. The bar was great with a good selection of beer and wine with a great staff. I would recommend it when in Chicago if the price range is for you.

I have read many reviews here complaining about the room size, particularly the bathroom size. Obviously, there are different room types and sizes in this hotel. I traveled with my family last weekend and I booked a room with decent size on the 17th floor. Surprisingly to me, the bath room is huge by any standard. As others have said, my room and bathroom were very small. The bathroom sink was tiny--don't lean down to wash your fee or you will bump into the faucet. Evidently one needs to upgrade to get a larger room. The building itself is ancient--expect old floors, walls, toilets etc. that the W has tried to put boutique/modern touches on. The TVs are wall mounted to save space so you'll need to lay in bed to see it. The street-facing rooms can be noisy due to the L. The courtyard-facing rooms mean you ... Read more

Good location, but tiny room and bathroom, smaller than Manhattan. Starwood Gold member and asked for a room with a normal sized bathroom at checkin. Was told by the desk clerk "the computer does not tell me the size of the bathroom, have a nice night". I would not recommend this property unless you are able to confirm a larger room when you book. For 2 nights I spent over $1,000 for a tiny standard king size room. The bed was not very comfortable and the toilet would run on it's own in the night. There were a few amenities that made the stay an ok experience - the Bluetooth speaker and the noise maker to drown out the city noises at night. The staff was very friendly and tried to fix the toilet but apparently it couldn't be fixed and I didn't complain (so that part was my fault for not switching rooms). Overall, this is a good hotel. And given the location, actually decently priced. This is in a great spot for anything in the loop. In general, the hotel feels a little dated. A downside of the W brand is that the hotels age quickly, and this one feels like it could use a sprucing up. It's not actually that old, but the decor used ages quickly. With regard to the rooms, I really liked mine. I thought it was very comfortable and spacious (although I had one of the larger rooms).

Our room was nice, although I must say there was a pernicious pervasive and persistent odor in our room that slowly dissipated by the time we were about to leave (after 3 days). I attribute that to a prior guest. Bed was comfortable. Lobby had intermittent odors (not related to bad perfume, either). I wasn't alone in noticing this. Room service was good, but forgot to leave new TP one day, and the next day left some cleaning stuff in the room. Probably a fluke. All-in-all i slept well. undisturb... Read more

I've long been a fan of W Hotels as they allow guests to stay in an environment that is a home away from home. The W doesn't feel like you're at a hotel at all, but the timeshare of a wealthy friend. The concierge and clerks were all friendly and the rooms were impeccably clean, as always. Will stay again and again. If you ever have trouble navigating your way around, any of the staff will be happy to give you friendly advice in an array of languages.

I am an avid SPG member and was very disappointed to use the W city center in Chicago as my destination for an anniversary trip with my wife. We booked a suite and it was very old and dated. The shower and main bath were very small and odd shaped. The view from the 5th floor was awful, a view of the lower roof full of air conditioners and a strange W logo to attempt to dress this up. While I generally have had positive experiences in W hotels, the one in the Loop in Chicago has always managed to disappoint a bit. The concierge is frequently unavailable ("leave a message"), requests for a room on an upper floor are ignored (with excuses), internet is charged and expensive (for a stay at over $500 per night). While these are small points individually, in aggregate they left me feeling like a problem rather than a guest in what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel.

I will very likely not go back to the W- front desk did not explain clearly that my room would not be cleaned if I joined a green club. After the first night when I arrived at my room it was not serviced, I called the front desk and told them that they should remove me from the green club the next day. When I git back to the room the second night NO service again, and in addition, the toilet had been running all day. The toilet room was tiny and there were no drawers for clothes. The manager was... We stayed here since we were attending a wedding in the city (we live about an hour away). The staff was friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the valet to the concierge. I loved the artsy room decor! The bed was amazing--I love a giant fluffy comforter. I could have lounged on this bed all day. Super comfortable. It also had a duvet cover, so I didn't have the creepy need-to-take-off-the-comforter-immediately feel that I usually have in hotels. I also liked the added touch of the ... Read more

We decided on this hotel against other because the rooms looked better in pictures and it offered a lot of amenities. When we arrived, our room was very very small but for " $20 usd extra per night they could move us to a considerable bigger one". The bathroom was extra small and if the door was closed you could not open the room door. Also it advertises free wifi but they do not say is only on the lobby, in the room is $14.95 per day. The in room snacks were incredibly exprensive "and you shoul... Read more

I stayed at the W City Centrer for a 2-day conference. The hotel is very central and has an amazing historic lobby. My room was clean, the bed extremely conforable. The service and the food were also great.

The W Hotel staff was so attentive and hospitable to me and my friend. We enjoyed the modern vibe in the room and the grand lobby. The concierge was so helpful with asking the Ambassador to handle our bags to stow away for later. I recommend the Florentine room at the Marriott across the street. The food was spectacular!

The W delivered as usual for me. While the d├ęcor was the usual over modern, some of the hallways and trim levels looked like they could be doing with a spruce up. I think no matter which room you are in you are going to here the L from this hotel, so beware. We had a pretty spacious room, which really could have used two queen beds. We skipped eating here given we were in Chicago.

My room was great... big clean and modern. I arrived at 8am with the intention of just leaving my bags, and was told that a room was available. I got a high floor room 7 hours before check-in. I will definitely be staying here on my next trip.

I had the pleasure of working directly with Brittney Carter and Christopher Serraro, but I understand Jamel Woods was in the background making sure all went well as the Banquet Manager. From the first time my daughter and I explored the Great Rooms at the beginning of the process to the very last dance, Brittney was there. She was instrumental in making sure this event came together as we envisioned and that we left the next day after brunch with smiles on our faces...and we did!! And this wa... Read more

Great location in the city center, rooms were fairly nice. Hallways were a bit warn. Will definitely stay here again, close proximity to train (to/from airport). Train in both directions for sure, uber hung up in traffic.

My family and I have been loyal members of SPG since I could remember. The W happens to be my favorite brand. The location and cleanliness were great as expected but the room itself and the service was horrible. My room air conditioner made a drilling noise so the first night I had to make a decision between quiet or a cooler room... Let's just say I didn't sleep. The second night, the same situation. I called at 3 am to see if another room was available and they were sold out. They assured... Read more

I stayed in this hotel while on a business tripÔ??it offers easy, walkable access to offices in the Loop and River North. The staff was helpful (and upgraded me when I checked in!), the room was pleasant, and the gym was small but had good equipment. The lobby wasn't as nice as some Ws, but had some pleasant places to sit and have a drink.
