Stayed here for 4 nights in April during my first time in Chicago and was pleased with how close it was to everything. If you're a lover of sleek interior design then this is the place for you. Everything from the bathroom floors, to the sofas in the rooms and the bar downstairs has been executed with style. The complimentary hot drinks for breakfast were awesome and the drinks in the bar were made with great precision and care. It's a cool place to stay or hang out....and good value for money. ... A great clean hotel situated a short walk from the city centre. The room was so clean and the bed big and comfortable. Nice restaurants and bars close by. Only problem we had was that we were charged 3 days parking costs for our car although we did not have a car so were refunded straight away. We did Route 66 and the travel company had paid and arranged everything for us so when we checked out everything was taken care of. A few days later we received an e-ail from them saying that they had tak... Read more

Overall I liked this hotel. Friendly and quick check in, nice spacious rooms, nice bathrooms and shower. The room service dinner I got during my one night stay was delicious - however, my breakfast never arrived. I LIVE FOR ROOM SERVICE BREAKFAST. Ok let's back up here. I called down to have my room cleaned before I left for business drinks around 730. I didn't get back until about 1am, and the room wasn't cleaned and the food service table from dinner was still there. I hauled the table to th... Read more

We stayed in a corner king (room #708), and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was spacious, and it was wonderful having the extra windows which gave nice light. The rooms and bathroom were both modern. The bathroom was quite large and had both a shower and tub. The lobby, bar (Doug), and Nico Osteria were all wonderful!! Also, they had free coffee and pastries to purchase in the a.m.. Plus, the location is superb! It's a very walkable area and very easy walking to John Hancock, Michigan ... Read more

My husband and I enjoyed our 3 day stay at the Thompson. The staff was excellent. From the minute we pulled up at the valet, we felt that we were in good hands. The front desk staff was very professional and responsive. The doormen and valets greeted us with smiles and a " can do" attitude. The lobby, although small, is very welcoming and comfortable. Sophisticated and serene, without pretense.. When we arrived in our king corner suite, there were some small housekeeping issues. The staf... Read more

Loved our recent stay at The Thompson. The design of the hotel is beautiful- from the lobby to the bar, to the art on the walls in the rooms. It is very sleek and modern, upscale without being too fancy. Definitely a "boutique" feel. The location is perfect for walking around downtown. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms made me want to renovate my bathroom at home because I now cannot live without that shower. This hotel has a an interesting and grand lobby with its high ceiling and tall heavy front entrance. The service is friendly and helpful. The complimentary morning coffee on the first floor was delicious and so much better than the usual in room coffee machines in other hotels. The view from the room is wonderful and the room feels spacious. The bed is very comfortable and the room was clean. Great location, and hip hotel in the Gold Coast. Conveniently located near fantastic shopping, the magnificent mile, and fabulous dinning. Unfortunately we woke up early Sunday morning to leave for the airport and found a used feminine hygiene product at our door. 110% unacceptable when you are paying these rates for a hotel. Extremely disappointing, and not a good memory left with us as we departed. Called and asked for a manager response and did not receive one, disappointing.
