Stayed here for me and hubby's short trip in Chicago. From our smooth check-in with warm chocolate chip cookie to the awesome room with great view. Everybody was super nice during our stay from the moment we got dropped off by our cab. I read a few reviews on expedia and TripAdvisor about the service being rude and the rooms being dirty or furniture being worn. Well, yes, rooms will have wear and tear because someone else has slept and showered in that room you're staying in. But our room (kin... Read more

I would definitely stay here again. The best part of this hotel is that the train makes a stop right outside their front door. For a first timer in Chicago, it was fool-proof. Leave the airport, get on the L, get down at State and Lake- boom- you're there! It was in great proximity to other touristy places, and there was a Walgreen's down the street, perfect place to pick up any extras we had forgotten. Staff was great- when we arrived early I was afraid our rooms wouldn't be ready, but they w... Read more

This was a wonderful experience from the minute we walked in. The valet, concierge and rest of the staff we encountered were great--so friendly and hospitable. The room was perfect in every way. We had a excellent view of the city from the upper floor. The hotel was completely immaculate throughout. The bed was comfortable, neither too firm, nor too soft. Bathroom was also immaculate and the shower was nice. I did not have a chance to use the pool area, but the fitness room had state-of-the-... Read more

I booked theWit because the Mariott had no availability. To my surprise, theWit was a fantastically appointed hotel at a reasonable price point. The hotel is located only 2 blocks from the blue line, and I was able to take the train from O'Hare and save $50 on a taxi! Hotel staff was extremely welcoming and the lobby was clean and inviting. Common areas were well maintained and there was a faint tropical smell in the lobby. It was pretty refreshing every time I returned. Although my room wasn't... Read more

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the last seven years. The front desk service and concierge service was fantastic. Beyond the lobby, the service (housekeeping and room service) was terrible. I had to wait over an hour to receive an extra blanket and nearly an hour and a half to get a hamburger. For the price I paid for my suite, the overall service should have been excellent.

Our school hosted a fundraising event at the Wit's screening room and it was one of my favorite things I've ever done in the city. They rolled out a legit popcorn machine, baskets of movie theater candy and of course had a discrete but complete bar! There isn't a bad seat in the house. This is a hidden gem and worth every penny.

Have been more impressed with this hotel on past stays. Location and State/Lake restaurant great, but rooms aren't. Navigating night club on top floor is a hassle if you're on business or looking for boutique hotel feel.

Great centrally located hotel, close to everything downtown. Had a great stay here for a wedding! Rooftop bar is great, but only complaint is as a guest, you are oftentimes sharing an elevator with people going up to the bar at night. Just seems odd that there isn't a designated elevator for them. Other than that, highly recommended for any stay in downtown chi-town - especially for younger couples.

I booked theWit Hotel â?? Doubletree Paramount Suite for my husbandâ??s birthday (I was hosting his birthday party at the Rooftop Club). Neither, breakfast nor parking ($60/night) were included (I was aware at the time of booking). Access was difficult. I frequently with the Witt and Renaissance hotels. They both have their pluses but I must say the staff at the Witt extremely friendly and professional. I was upgraded to a corner room on the 12th floor overlooking the river and it is one of the better rooms in the hotel. Plenty of room very comfortable, very clean. I wish they would update their key entry system and put some light in the elevators. If you're looking for a good stay in a great location I do recommend the Witt

Great location, nice hotel, great staff, clean, but like all downtown hotels, it is pricey. Convenient to attractions and public transportation. We stayed in town for the Adele concert. Overall good experience. A bit pricey, but location was terrific. We had a junior suite and it was very roomy and comfortable for a two night stay. Hotel staff was really great. The Roof bar on the 27th floor is nice, however as a couple in our middle 40's, we on the younger side of the crowd. Also, the $100 per person required to reserve a table was a bit steep, especially when the food menu was fairly limited. We elected to spend time elsewhere.

Very nice hotel next to the Theatre district. Nicely appointed, fairly spacious rooms, I enjoyed the piped in bird sounds in the hallways but it confused me at first. :-) I thought some birds hitched a ride up the elevator somehow! We can't say enough for the way that the staff made us feel at home, in this beautiful hotel. Keep up the great work.

Our room was exactly what I needed and it was better than I expected. We got the one bedroom suite I think that was the room category. I was looking for a room that had a separate living area as well as a kitchenette. We needed to host some family members in between graduation and the party. It worked out great. I will definitely stay at theWit again. So will my family members. The roof top was great too as well as the food at the restaurant on location.

Stayed here many years ago and feel like this place has been beaten up a bit and needs some freshening up. Not as I remember. Best thing is we had corner spa King rooms 1018 and 1418 great views of River and couldn't hear L, but room was small. I would stay if I felt like I had a great rate. I don't like how they enclosed their rooftop bar. Bad move. Seems like an after thought....which it is. Use to be open years ago.

Everything was great. The property is conveniently located a short two block walk from the subway, which took me directly to O'Hare Airport for only $3.00 one way.

While the drive in to park was a little confusing, once inside, they made it very comfortable and easy. It was quiet, clean and more than friendly. The front desk called twice to inquire if anything was additionally needed.

Only stayed one night but I was so impressed! I had a King Suite with the river view and I must say it was nice!!! theWit has so much going for it. Location being probably the number one thing. Right in the Theater District and so close to everything on State Street. The room was awesome as well! I've stayed in a few Hotels in downtown Chicago and the size of my suite here was twice as big as any other hotel rooms I've stayed in! A full spa size tub and a huge stand alone shower was the best. This was probably the busiest weekend Chicago has ever seen. Great location! Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again. Room was clean, the bed was soft and I could see the lake from my window!

Love the sound of birds chirping while walking down the hallways. Rooms are very comfortable with nice amenities. We stayed on the 19th floor, which included a refrigerator with drinks and a cabinet with snacks. Nice, roomy walk in shower. Lighting is adjustable in the bathroom. Very quiet when we were there the weekend of October 30. Every staff member was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at The Wit when in town for deposition at a nearby law firm that has a corporate rate there. I was very pleasantly surprised by the modern decor of the hotel, the friendly and caring professional staff and the restaurant. I didn't get a chance to experience The Roof but plan to do so on future stays at this hotel.

Great location but makesure you get a room up high and other side from the L train. Rooms are really large and well appointed with natural light. Bathroom also good but no tub which is more the nor now days. Staff are all excellent with exception of the Roof staff who are arrogant and rude and venue is overrated. Bar staff in state an Lake lobby bar are outstanding.

We were here for an Elvis Costello concert. This hotel met my standards. Everyone was nice and helpful. One major pro was how close to the Chicago Theatre it was. The room was nice and had a sink and microwave. I loved the sound of the chirping birds in the hallway! Although this was a nice hotel and it is a nice hotel I left a bot disappointed in the bed and the sleep that I got. The bedding seemed a little off. I can't explain it, but I didn't get the relaxing and refreshed sleep that I always... Read more

Second stay at a DoubleTree in a month - both excellent. Friendly and fast check in. We like that there is a full service bar in the hotel. We had breakfast there both AM's and it was excellent. The staff is very courteous without being overly so, which I find fake. Central location for walking - we never used a cab or Uber and took the train in. El is right outside the door. Close to the lake and river. Walk to Navy Pier, shopping, night life.

Very nice hotel. The beds were fabulous. Location is perfect walking distance to a lot of attractions - close to the lake and to Millennium Park. Also a safe area - walked around at night by myself. The meeting I attended was catered and the food was great. Really great experience.

This hotel is a GEM. What a great ambiance and gorgeous hotel both upon first appearance and in the room. Very convenient to everything you want to walk to and enjoy. The roof top bar is something that you have to at least see while at the hotel and the restaurant downstairs was fabulous for breakfast and evening drinks - friendly staff all around. The room we had faced the lake and was quiet and had a beautiful view to the lake and the bean which added to the ambiance

Being the first time we visited Chicago, I was not sure about where to stay. I must say, we really lucked out with this hotel! The location is fabulous. Right downtown on state/lake train line. 2 min walk to the hop on/hop off busses. Easy 5 minute walk to Millennium Park, Cloud gate, Chicago River and architectural tours. 8 minutes to the Art Museum. As for the hotel itself, it's chic, contemporary, and quirky. TheWit accommodated us with an early check in and welcomed us with warm cookies. But the attention to detail actually started before we arrived. Dennis, a concierge, called a few nights before our visit when he noticed the reservation included a child. He asked if I would be needing anything special such as a crib. I explained the child was a teen-ager and I would love a room with a great view. Dennis came through with a 15th-floor room with a river view. The spacious room had two comfortable b... Read more

We got a great deal on a friday night for this hotel, and i have to admit, we were really surprised about it. Check in was really great - all you expect for : efficiency, charming and smelling staff. When we arrived two front desk agent looked busy doing paperworks but suddenly a lady stepped out the back office and invited us to her desk. Really pleasant to feel welcome thanks to her. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in Chicago. It was perfectly located near all the "loop" trains and subways. Theatre and Ballet were but a stone's throw away. Tip to non-Americans who might not be used to knowing where to get wine, beer and spirits - Walgreens just 2 minutes from the front door has a very decent selection.
