"Room was nice, nothing amazing. Good location. Swimming pool was not warm enough. The hot tub was the temperature the swimming pool should have been and the jets didn't work. Staff was friendly, but the maid didn't leave lotion in the room one day so I called down to get some and after about 20-30 minutes I had to call back and then they finally brought it up. $62 a night parking is a little high. I am glad I got the room for the rate I did, definitely would not be worth more."

"The rooms were very well kept, beds very comfortable. Would be nice to have a microwave to go with the refridgerator. The location is excellent. Although the hotel itself is very 'upscale' as there is added extras to your actual hotel bill, parking is expensive, you have to pay to use the pool, exercise room, there is a price on the bottles of water that are in your room. It is a very quiet hotel if that is what you are looking for. I would not reccommend it unless you are ready to spend a lot of extra money."

valet parking is $62/night. thought this was a bit of a rip off compared to Sofitel
rooms nothing fancy at all.

"When we checked out on the 3rd we caught a cab in front of the Hotel for a trip to Union Station. We did not note name of Cab Co. or Cab number. After being dropped off my wife noticed her purse was gone. We contacted the Hotel and they made an attempt to id the cab for us. They did id the four of us from a tape but were unable to id cab co. or number. We are very appreciative of the effort of he Swissotel Chicago and consider it an act of 'going beyond the call of duty'. We did know the drivers name and contacted the Chicago Government organization that deals with cab companies and were able to retrieve the purse. Thanks to Swissotel, City of Chicago, Sun Cab Company and the driver of the cab for their help and honesty."

"We loved the hotel. Well located and well run. Like most downtown hotels in most cities, restaurant meals are very expensive and so is parking. There are lots of cheaper restaurants nearby and municipal parking is within 3 blocks and half the price. We used the Millennium Park Lot. Great views and they were very quick to give an upgrade. Be careful in Chicago, your GPS may be a little wonky because of upper and lower streets. A great experience."

"The hotel its self is very nice for the price. 2 MAJOR concerns of mine, no free internet, and you only were given 1 cup of reg coffee, 1 cup decaff, and 1 tea, all others had to be paid for. And finally you had to pay extra to use the pool and fitness center.... And really nothing located around the area as far as restaurants and stores like many other hotels we have stayed downtown."

"Stayed at the Swissotel over St. Patty's Day weekend. Had a few hiccups while trying to check in. The hotel only showed one room even though we had booked two rooms. the names were misspelled in the reservation. The woman who was checking us in remained calm and friendly and upgraded our rooms. We've stayed here before and like that it is quiet and clean.
The parking charges are incredible - try parking in one of the many public garages located around the hotel. You'll save a lot of money. It would be nice if the hotel's website listed information such as check out time. We couldn't find it posted anywhere and it wasn't listed in the room either."

"Great hotel. Great location! We reserved a classic double room which was very spacious and beautifully furnished. We had a great view of the city from the large picture window. Although we did not use the fitness center, we went to see it and it was a first rate work out center with a great heated pool. The concierge was very knowledgeable of the city and was always able to direct us with accurate information regarding subway usage, museum and shopping information and where to go for great Chicago pizza!

"lovely hotel, perfect view , good location , but many hidden cost. $75.00 dollars for each day for incidental fees. A lot of money that I did not have or was not told ahead it was needed. Cost to swim , cost for hot tub, cost for wifi . 58.00 for parking. Yes I got a good deal , but the fees made it quite expensive if you used them. One of the clerks told us there was free wifi in lobby , but after trying to use my ipad the concierge , said no that there was no free wifi. it seems they could communicate better on there fees before hand. probably will look for a different deal next time."

"THANK-YOU SO MUCH our trip to Chicago would not have been the same! Everywhere else, Swissotel was going for $750 for our 4-day, 3-night trip, but we got it for $350 AND TWO free upgrades: late checkout (1pm) and a beautiful, beautiful kingsize lakeview room (seriously, we opened our door at night and saw the Navy Pier ferris wheel lit up)! Anyway, the Swissotel is awesome, if you can afford it! Parking is $56 a day, wifi is $5-25 and the fitness center and pool costs $10 a day! My ONLY complaints are the check-in lines, my boyfriend and I were cut by a couple because it's pretty disorganized and I would hear this weird thumping noise coming from our bathroom at 4:30am (from the pipes or something). Besides that, no complaints! many super quiet, efficient elevators, friendly staff, housekeepers, concierge, bellman, etc. best bed ever, too! :)"

"CHicago is a beautiful city!! We had snow one day and it jsut added to the scenary.
Took lots of pictures!
The lcoation of the hotel is central to everything. we could go under ground all the way to the El subway or out to Michigan Street. For a cold day, this is very handy, The hotel itself is beautiful, clean and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. we got a room facing the lake, so at night the view is breathtaking. The bed and bedding feels like home! I would recommend this to everyone, but be aware of the extra charges...because it can get quite expensive!
THe pool/fitness room is additional charge, the internet is another charge, the parking was $59 a day, which i think is a bit outrageous. We ended up asking around and parked next door for $32 which was a lot more reasonable, but there is no in/out privilefge. Since we were downtown most of the time, we walked alot and it was actually a great idea to see Chicago downtown.

"What a great deal we got and what a phenomenal hotel stay. This was a last minute booking. We bought a 3 day hotel and flight deal at a fantastic price. The Swisshotel was the chosen hotel. It did 'nt start well as there was a mix up at the reservation desk. No problem, the receptionist took us to the bar and gave us vouchers for free drinks, she then attended to the problem and came into the bar to give us our key.
The wait staff was also Phenomenal. The hotel management must take some credit as the staff were so well trained"

Only thing about the bathroom was the sink water had no pressure at all. Shower was very nice. "We were there to check our bags very early so we could see the city. They not only let us check in early but helped us to get a corner room with a view of the river and the Navy Pier. Great pool and Whirlpool toward the top of the hotel with a nice view. Have access at the pool & whirlpool for those in wheelchairs to get in and out. One problem was that the whirlpool had a problem with the start switch so frequently a maintenance man needed to be called and that needs to be fixed. Other than that, I cant say enough about how glad I am that I went to the Swissotel"

"Absolutley phemoneal deal and hotel through book-it at $99/night free upgrade to King overlooking Lake Michigan.
Great service - prompt, courteous, professional. Beautiful hotel, spacious room and spectacular view of the lake/Navy Pier.
The only thing to be aware of is that WiFi is extra but given the hotel room rate, seems totally fair.
I would go back in a heartbeat and would suggest that at the price - you'd be hard pressed to find a better value.
Next time I am back in Chicago, I will be staying at the Swissotel."

"Great location to visit Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier. Classy hotel, friendly efficient staff. Easy to navigate too which in Chicago is worth alot! Perfect view. After seeing our room was not what we had booked we returned to the desk showed our reciept to the lady who checked us in and quickly accomodated us based on our reciept. As for the hotel I would give it 5. Without a reciept I probably would have been stuck in the standard room which would have been nice but not what I was promised. "

"Beautiful views! LOVE the elevator system. Very efficient. LOVED the pool/jacuzzi on the 42nd floor. Would have loved it better had I been prepared for it :) The gym contained an entire Precor circuit system plus free weights, yoga balls, ellipticals, treadmills, and a couple unrecognized gadgets. A full gym with great scenery. The linens and pillows were SO comfortable. Only problem we had was that we were provided only 1 washcloth and it took 30 min to get more. The location is perfect! Will definitely stay again!"

"The Hotel was very responsive to any issues that came up. The hotel staff is very friendly and very responsive. They try to make everything right.
I would NOT recommend THE PALMS RESTAURANT which is located right inside the hotel. The server was fine as was the dinner. When I asked for a pen to charge the bill to the room, the manager informed me that he was unable to bill the dinner to the room. He then told me AFTER I give him my credit card, he would give me a pen - he gave me the impression he was afraid I was not going to pay the bill. What really did not impress me was the managers attitude towards us. When I stated I planned to make a complaint, his response was I could complain to anyone I wanted to it did not matter. I did complain to the Hotel. The hotel explained they do have manual procedures in place when there is an IT issue and it should not impact a guests ability to charge the bill to the room.
In summary, good hotel I would stay there again. I would NOT go back to the Palms Restaurant due to the lack of customer service I experienced. There are good steak houses right in the area that understand the concept of good customer service for the price."

"The hotel was nice and in a good location. The rooms were clean. The only beef there is we wanted a king and I requested one (though it's not guaranteed) when we got there we were told that a king would be $45 more per night. Fail to that so we kept the double which was a little annoying.
Also, we tried to get the hotel to help us with getting a cab. We were met with indifference and were basically ignored. Fail to that. Also, when checking out, the hotel staff was a little on the rude side but not too bad.
We got a good rate on the room so if I were able to get a similar rate next time, I would consider staying here again. But, if not, I would consider alternates first."

"Hotel has decent location, close to Michigan avenue, Navy Pier and Milenium Park, and good for walking around. The place seems to be clean has nice pool and fitness area and quite a pricey restaurant. views can be great also and I got a high floor room towards the river corner so cant complain. The parking is very expensive (55/day) so this was a downside. Also the water in the room is $8/bottle so watch out! Room was nice and clean, the AC worked fine but we noticed somewhat stuffy air/smell when we get in so this was somewhat disappointing given the price and star rating. Hopefully not all rooms are like this. Staff was ok but didn't see much of it except for check-in and valet parking."

He had hugh expectations and I didn't want to disappoint him so when I booked the hotel I didn't know what to expect because we've never stayed at a Swissotel before. We couldn't have been more happy when we arrived at Swisssotel Chicago. The decor was very modern and the hotel staff was friendly which was a good start to our trip after flighting all morning. The room was clean and room service attended daily with all my crazy request for more towels. 'I use a lot of towels' We had an amazing view of the river from our room which made it even better. The Hotel was centrally located for great Shopping on Michigan Ave, Restaurants and Tours. The concierge was great at recommending great little breakfast locations and great steak restaurants. The only fault was we couldn't have stayed longer. Great hotel would highly recommend this hotel and location."

"Stayed at the Swissotel in Chicago for the first time and will forever compare any other hotel to this one. The corner king room is very nice with two walls of windows to enjoy magnificent views of Navy Pier and Lake Michigan. (27th floor) The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in at a hotel and the room was so quiet - never heard a neighboring door slam or any outside noise. Although others mention the elevators being a problem, I found them to be quick, quiet and very efficient. Rarely had to wait more than a few seconds and the ride to the 27th floor was only seconds long. The location is wonderful - right on the Chicago river and near shopping on Mag. Mile. The fitness room has excellent equipment and the pool has 360 degree views of the city. I would absolutely stay at the Swiss again and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Chicago!"

"It was my first time in Chicago, and I had a wonderful time! We had a room on the 25th floor with a view of South Chicago Loop. Right when you get off the elevator, you're welcomed with a view of Navy Pier! But the best thing of the overall stay was the early check in. Our flight got in way early in the morning, so we took our time walking to the room, and to our suprise and much thankfulness, we got checked in immediatly! That helped more than the hotel will ever know. The downfall of the room was the ac never got too cold in the room, and the channels on the tv would not load. Kept saying that it could not find signal. The location of the hotel was perfect! Quick walk right onto Michigan Avenue, which we had walked many times throughout the stay, and in the backyard was Millienium Park. I will definatly be back to stay soon at the Swiss."

"It was disturbing to find it necessary to clean the sink area, back of toilet (urine stains), and the floor in the bathroom which was really dirty. We did not use the shower or bath in the bathroom but showered in the Fitness area which was in pristine condition any time we used their facilities. The carpet in the room was not clean either and there were long dark hairs on the towels in the bathroom.
If the cleanliness was upgraded, we would not hesitate to return. We requested not to have room service durinig our stay since we felt it was only for three nights and we are tidy people. It was easier for us to clean the places mentioned above when we returned after our late afternoon and evening on Wednesday rather than have to wait in the room for someone to come and do it for us. We had only two full days in Chicago and were not in the room from breakfast time till a short break to change before heading out for the evening each night.
However, we cannot say enough about your staff. Breakfast staff in Geneva room were always kind and efficient. My husband and I cannot say enough about your staff - they are wonderful and so helpful.
Again, if we could rely on the cleanliness of our room, we would definitely return and recommend your hotel. By the way, the views were outstanding - we thought the room's location was superb.

Then when my husband called to check on it, they said they were not aware of our check-in and it would be there in 15-30 min. An hour later they finally arrived. The location is ideal to major city sightseeing attractions and shopping, and the level of customer service is impeccable across the board. As for cleanliness, this observation spoke volumes to me... I was waiting in the lobby and saw a passing staff member divert his direction to walk over to a couch to pluck a tiny speck of white lint from the back rest. (A man after my own heart.) "That Hotel is just Awesome. We were greeted very nicely. We got a room on the 27th floor directly looking at Navy Pier. Wow! They gave us complimentary dipped strawberries to go with our champane. The room was very clean and spacious with all rhe ammenities you need. The soft sheets and fluffy comforter really made the bed so cozy top sleep in. I love the flavored water in the lobby. Great idea!. Very helpful and accomidating to whatever you may need. I would love to go and stay at the Swissotel again. Very relaxing and beautiful hotel."

"My family and I just returned from Swissotel Chicago. We stayed four nights with our two sons, ages 5 and 7. The room was extremely comfortable and clean. The staff offered a roll away bed free of charge to be brought up, the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and polite. Our room overlooked the Chicago River and Wacker Dr. The kids enjoyed the pool and hottub as well. My only complaint with the hotel is the price of the restuarants and room service. We did not utilize either of these because of the price of the food, for example, room service breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 piece of toast, and some bacon was $28!! The room had a refrigerator in it, so we went to Walgreens and bought cereal and milk to keep in the room for breakfast. When we return to Chicago, I will definitely be returning to the Swissotel."

There was Cheerios on the floor and the beds where lumpy
The air conditioner made a rattle noise all night
After a long day came back to go into the jacuzzi and it
wasnt working was told maintaince was called two times and too be
patient then at 8:20 in the morning the maid was at the door I guess to clean
the room but when I opened the door in my robe she just said
sorry and walked away!

"The rate for this hotel was great. The location was very easy to walk to Michigan Ave, and our room overlooked the river. The lake view from the elevator area was beautiful. The bathroom was perfectly clean and all four of us who packed into the room were able to have a great nights sleep on the comfy beds. The best part was that the bartender brought my brother a free birthday dessert, complete with candles! This was such a nice surprise, especially after going to dinner at a nice steak house where the waitress was awful and couldn't have cared less that we were in town for a special occasion. FYI, we parked for free in the neighborhood where my brother lives, and then took an $8 cab to the hotel, rather than pay $55 to park for one night!"

"We arrived after driving 9 hours from Toronto to enjoy our night in the Windy City. We got to the hotel and Swissotel had them reserve a king room smoking. Both my girlfriend and I are allergic to smoke but no one asked us, 2nd we are both handicapped and sleep on the right side of a bed so one king would not work. However, the staff did find us a room to stay in eventually. By the time we were done we had not time to rest before heading to dinner. I will never understand why hotels over book like they do and there was a huge convention in town. We were one of 20 guests sent to the other hotel. I will never want to try and stay there because of this horrible experience."

"What a disappointment. Although our room was excellent- comfortable bed, clean, large bathroom, small fridge, coffe maker- no one bothered to mention that the entire lobby/lounge was under construction. It's not mentioned on the Swissotel website, and staff didn't bother to mention it when we checked in. Not even a 'pardon our dust' sort of thing. Everyone acted like nothing unusual was going on and that people wouldn't notice a missing lobby and lounge. One of the reasons I'll pay extra for the 4 star hotels is because they have such lovely lobbies and lounges and I would have postponed my trip to this particular hotel until after renovations were complete if I had any idea what was going on. My second complaint is the additional $15/per person to use the exercise/swimming facilities. Are you kidding me? Hundreds of dollars to stay there and you get charged to use the pool? Absolutely uncalled for. As a result of these things I will not be back."

"If you can get view of lake or river-do so. That is the best feature of this hotel. Can walk to Millenium Park, Cultural Center, Art Institute, and tour bus/boat kiosks."
