If you are looking for bright lights and blaring music(even at 7:30 a.m.) this is the place for you. On the other hand, if you are over 60 look elsewhere. The hotel is obviously trying to attract a young crowd. The rooms are fine, clean and comfortable. Lighting is lacking if you're sharing a bed. Only one center reading light. In the larger of the two rooms we stayed in(a whole other story)fully a third of the room was unlit. There are no desks in the rooms-just a small table. In-room wifi will... Read more

I stayed in this hotel a decade ago and loved the location and decor. It has now been completely renovated and the lobby is made to look like a re-purposed warehouse - lots of electronic music. The Drake it ain't. So, I walked a block to the Langham for tea and had a late night drink with friends in the Palm Court of the Drake - to satisfy my nostalgic longings - before turning in each evening. The best thing about this hotel - you can walk out the back door and be in Macys within 5 minutes!

We are Marriott Reward members and spent a great deal of time researching properties in Chicago before deciding on this hotel. We absolutely made the right decision. Even before our stay, we experienced excellent customer service. I called to inquire about rooms as we were travelling with our two young daughters and had the pleasure of speaking with Krista. Krista went above and beyond for us and really made our stay memorable. We had an early flight into Chicago and we arrived at the hotel be... Read more

Having stayed in many hotels including Marriott, I can highly recommend the Renaissance Chicago Downtown as one of the best in its class in Chicago. The hotel has been recently renovated to include all rooms, lobby, bar and restaurant with an urban modern feel that won't leave you disappointed. From the minute we walked in we experienced excellent service from all staff. The club lounge has been moved to the lobby level and was always stocked with drinks and the food was in line with other Ma... Read more

Ok, so here is the bottom line. Has under gone a recent beautiful refurbishment. Very comfortable rooms. Very helpful "navigator" staff. The second floor restaurant is very good for breakfast buffet. Loved the hotel and the remodeled lobby is nice but very, very noisy. Lots of noise travels down the escalator from the ballroom and can overpower the lobby. Apparently, recently remodeled and while it looks nice, needs some material to absorb some sound. Tried the new rooftop bar and went up at 9:50 on a Sunday night of a holiday weekend, only to be greeted as we entered with a "we close in 10 minutes". We walked through and watched several people be served fresh drinks. As I said we w... Read more

I stayed here on business for a few days. The Hotel has a great location and right near a train stop from the airport. Overlooking the River and Trump tower. The rooms are large and clean. Small pool, however when used children playing so not really good for exercise. The gym was surprisingly good for a hotel. And there is a roof top bar on the 3rd with great views. One grumble they put bottles of water in the rooms but charge you $4 for. Which is very over top with price paying.

Nice, full-service Marriott. Staff seem to really like their jobs. Everyone was helpful. The room was nice, with a view on the river side of the hotel. There is a new lobby bar and an outdoor bar. From only the 8th floor, there was no noise at all. The room seem well-insulated, too, in terms of the windows and doors. The executive lounge is on the main floor and has a hot, self-serve breakfast that is good. It is closed weekends, however. The hotel bar is above-average for a Marriott, with pri... Read more

The hotel has been tastefully renovated, the rooms are of a generous proportion, well-furnished with sizable bathrooms and the service was fine. We had breakfast in the main restaurant, which has a lovely view over the river and the bars were not as 'hotelly' as some. Although I was only 2 rooms away from the elevator, I was not disturbed, although a colleague of mine was placed right next to the elevator shaft and the clanking kept him awake. I was at the Renaissance for 2 nights, attending a conference in the hotel. The rooms are fairly large and many have a view (partial or full) of the river and some classic Chicago buildings across it. The hotel and rooms have been successfully renovated, with creative abstract painting decorating the elevator areas and good quality modern furniture in the rooms. The bathrooms still have the old tubs, with handles that are difficult to turn on (you have to pull out hard), but lighting is good, an... Read more

After reading so many great reviews i was so looking forward to staying here. I was a little disappointed though. The lobby is a visual and aural treat although it can be a little much especially at night if you're with small kids. Like, walking through a bar. The rooms/beds and facilities at the hotel were hip/modern and clean. The hotel bar/restaurant made breakfast to go super fast and easy as well. I stayed on a business trip for 4 nights. Instead I had room overlook the top of a garage. Could they not see that my reservation was for a river view? Did any one bother to make sure that I did get what I paid for? NO!!!! So now I have to ask what can you do for me? when they should have said Our error I'm sorry how can we make this up to you. It was a beautiful night ... Read more

The hotel was busy but the rooms were quiet, clean, and very nice. There was food and drink onsite and the hotel is in walking distance of several awesome eateries. Hotel staff were helpful and courteous. The only complaint I have was disorganization in bringing my bags up and the elevators gave me and everyone in my conference terrible vertigo, which was odd. Overall, would definitely stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised by how great this hotel was. Very clean, nicely decorated, comfortable, great views, perfect location. I cannot wait to go back again and again. I won't stay anywhere else in the city again. I have found the best place.

The rooms were nice. Yes, I did say rooms. We were in one room and came from seeing the sights to a room that smelled horrible. We were then moved to another room. In that room, the shower did not drain. We waited almost an hour for someone to come to the room to put Drano in the shower and leave. Not the best service.

Spent 3 nights here. Check in staff were great, the room was spacious, clean, and quiet. First floor caf├ę overpriced, and the service is unorganized. The item I ordered was out of stock, but they didn't tell me until the delivered the food for everyone else. I finally got food, and they stepped up and comped the entire party of five. Nice recovery! The roof top bar is excellent.

I stayed at Renaissance downtown during the Labor day weekend. It was so awesome. Stunningly beautiful, clean, and stylish. My room was spacious enough, decent view, and the bed was so comfy I wanted take it with me upon check out. The Front desk staff was extremely nice and pleasant the whole time, every day. Doormen, valet, security, everyone made me smile. Housekeeping was outstanding. It's close to great restaurants big and small. Close to river walk boats, caf├ęs, shopping etc. I even fo... Read more

I love this hotel, it's modern, clean and in a great location. I stated for five days of vacation and loved everything about it. The only negative is the price for parking was ridiculous and self parking wasn't an option Renny's are one of my favorite Marriott lines.

Marriott property, but positioned with an edge that says not your old school hotel! Room was generous, nicely laid out, big bathroom, good climate control. Downside (for this old school exec...)? No desk! Had to make due with a TV table like you find in the airline lounges. Open lobby with multiple work zones. Lobby bar + outdoor bar on 3rd floor. High end restaurant with excellent service on 3rd floor.

Traveled here for a work conference. The hotel is on Wacker by the river and has nice views. The room was above average and fairly large for a Chicago hotel. The conference area was nice. The bar was good but the restaurant was lacking in selection. If you use the valet service for your car the cost is $69 per night. You will be a short walk to Michigan Ave, the park and the beach. Great location for shopping.

Beautiful hotel. The views of the river are spectacular, especially at night. The lobby area is always busy, and a great place to sit and watch people come and go. The concierge was extremely helpful and gave great ideas of places to visit.

Stayed here this past Saturday. This is one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed at. The location is great. Right where the loop meets the mag mile. The river view from the large bay window was gorgeous! The room itself was very nice and large. Being a germaphobe, bathrooms are the make it or break it for me. The bathroom gets a B+ for a bad caulk job around the toilet and tub, and the door was dirty from where people use their hands to close the door instead of using the door knob. There wer... Read more

I was here for a conference and the facilities were excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable and I loved the amount of USB sockets in the room, very thoughtful. As it was a conference, with customers, getting out of the hotel wasn't possible so the food options within the hotel were called upon and frankly they were disappointing. My room (2607) unfortunately was next to the lift shaft and WOW the noise was terrible, sleep was difficult before 12:30am. I'd use this hotel again but I'd ma... Read more

First of all, as you guessed it: the location is awesome!!! Directly on the river, a 15 minute beautiful walk to Navy Pier, 10 minute walk to the Magnificent Mile, direct access to the red line and a short walk to the blue line. The view from the hotel is just mind blowing. We were in Chicago for a quick weekend and stayed one night at the hotel. Check-in was a breeze, the attendants were helpful, the room was clean and comfy. Can't say much about housekeeping other than the room was perfectly c... Read more
