The Palomar is located in the heart of River North, making it walking distance to all of the hot restaurants and bars. I couldn't ask for a more perfect location! The hotel was a bit smaller than expected but the service was superb. My room was on the 11th floor and had great natural lighting. I stayed in the King Deluxe Room, which was both spacious and well decorated. The bathroom was a standard size and included Atelier Bloem bath products. I unfortunately had no time to experience all of the... Read more

We stayed for 4 nights, the staff were friendly and helpful. We requested a pet free room and this was delivered. The position of the hotel was great for sightseeing, easy to walk to lots of places as well as metro, buses and of course cabs. The complimentary wine in the lobby every evening is a great touch. My only reservation is the animal print robes,I prefer white {yes I am old fashioned] Would stay again.

My wife and I flew into Chicago on Halloween for the Vikings/Bears game the following day. The hotel Palomar was highly recommended as not only a great hotel but it's central location to...everything! The staff was incredible, whether answering questions on places to eat, directions or just welcoming us back from a Vikings win. If you stay here do not pass up the wine hour, which is accompanied by an amazing flat bread pizzas. It's a great time to relax, meet other travelers and just have a gr... Read more

There is a complimentary wine hour every evening from 5 to 6, which is a nice perk. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating and we would definitely stay here again anytime we ar... The hotel has the best location, right on grand and state. Near all the action. The rooms are furnished very nicely. The facilities are top notch. But the real reason you should stay here is the super friendly staff. In particular the front desk, more specifically Sarah. Her professional and warm manner is a welcomed asset I hope that the kimpton brand recognizes.

A friend and I stayed at the Palomar for one night over Memorial Day weekend. The location is excellent if you are planning on some shopping along the Magnificent Mile. The room was spacious, quiet, and clean, with pleasant contemporary decor. We had minimal interactions with the staff given our brief stay, but everyone seemed attentive and pleasant. The valet service was reasonably priced for the area, and impressed me by retrieving our car in approximately 5 minutes.

Great location. Small hotel with personal service. Not a huge place with large lobby. Small, intimate, wine at 5 every evening, coffee in the morning. BEST BEDS EVER!!! Close to public transportation but within easy walking distance to the highlights of Chicago - four blocks to the river, less to Michigan Ave for shopping. Also has a great cocktail bar/restaurant in the hotel - Sable. Would definitely recommend and absolutely would stay again should my travels take me back to Chicago. Hi... Read more

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Palomar Chicago! I booked the hotel a month in advance, when my (now husband) and I decided we would spend the night in Chicago on our way driving from Virginia to Minnesota. Since we had gotten married only two nights earlier, we turned it into a little honeymoon and much to our happy surprise on check-in, Palomar had upgraded us to a luxury suite AND left a bottle of champagne in the room! Add to that the fact that our dog was in heaven with the... Read more

I have 4+ million miles lifetime on AA, so I have stayed in a lot of hotels. I've stayed at the Hotel Palomar twice, and both times the experience was one of the best I've ever had, Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons included, but at half the price or less. We took my 11 year old son, and 4 of his friends there for a stay-cation. They couldn't have been nicer, facing a tornado of kids. I'll be back, and encourage you to try it.

This is a nice hotel located on State Street near everything you might want to see and do in Chicago. Great shopping and restaurants nearby (within walking distance). Rooms are well laid out, clean and comfortable. At 5pm there is a hospitality wine session in the lounge area. My only issue with the hotel is there are no in-room coffee makers. As a frequent traveler, I really enjoy getting up and having the ability to make my first cup of coffee in my room. The hotel really needs to add this am... Read more

The best part about the Palomar is definitely its location. You're close to everything with beautiful amenities to make your stay even more comfortable. Rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are very functional, all while being modern and beautiful. The pool was nice, though small and very shallow (3.5ft throughout). If the price was right, we would certainly come back.

We are family of 5, kids are 9, 7, 6. We loved how kids friendly are the hotel and staff. The best thing about Palomar Chicago is the rooftop pool, my kids love it. Second best thing is the location, near to many attractions and restaurants. Parking: if you bring a car and not planning to use it much, I recommend using parkwhiz. Hotel rates and Local fare are minimun 44 dollars for 24 hours, Parkwhiz I was able to locate one for 24 hours for $25.00

Gosh I love the Palmar Chicago. I am a Kimpton regular ( and by regular I mean I travel way too much) and Chicago Kimpton Palomar team never miss a detail. My room was 68 Degrees, there was a PERFECT welcome amenity for me. The room was wonderful. I can't say enough nice things about it. I highly recommend this hotel. This is the first time I stayed in a "regular" room. The suites here are huge and worth the upgrade. This time in Room 1604. It is a great little room not a "suite" but we... Read more

The Palomar is a super nice hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are nicely decorated and very well maintained. The location is perfect with lots of shopping, bars and restaurants close by. We were there for a family weekend, but it would be perfect for business travel as well.

My family and I stayed at Palomar Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. I've stayed at two other Kimpton properties in Chicago but this was my first time at Palomar. We booked a summer kids package so my two young boys received a beach bag of fun pool/summer items upon arrival. The hotel staff was very friendly and I like this Kimpton because they actually have a bit of a driveway that you can pull your car into instead of parking on the street to wait for valet (which is a hassle in downtown Ch... Our reservation at the James got messed up so we reluctantly switched to the Palomar and it ended up being so much better. Our room was lovely, clean and the hotel bar is simply amazing. It has an old Grecian theme, a great mini bar, and although there's no spa, you can get in room spa treatment.

We love the Palomar, our 3rd time staying there. Every time we enjoy it even more. The staff is so accommodating, the rooms are nice (showers are awesome) and the Sable bar next door is great spot for breakfast in the am and drinks in the pm. Check out the 17th floor rooftop patio - a nice quiet respite.

Stayed at the Palomar for business meetings on Michigan Ave. The hotel is a perfect location. Rooms were clean and updated. If you go to a Kimpton hotel make sure you join their reward program. You get $10 credit to use in the minibar. Always a nice addition. Definitely will return on my next business trip.

I stayed for business this past week and it was in general, a pleasant experience. This is my second Kimpton Hotel and although I found The George in DC to be better, the Palomar was nice. Pros: Kimpton beds are awesome. I want to take one home because I always sleep well. The linens are nice, and good number of pillows. The bath was adequately sized and very clean. The bath amenities were ok. There was no coffee maker in the room but I called the front desk and they brought one quickly (a K... Read more

This is the third Kimpton/Palomar Hotel, that we have stayed in - Washington, DC, and San Francisco, CA (no longer a Kimpton property), and our stay was very nice. The hotel is well-located, just above The Loop. The reception area is a bit dark, and small, but most of the Kimpton properties (not just Palomar Hotels) are older, and have been redone and modernized. However, the staff was very welcoming and friendly, which made up for the small reception area. Our room was adequately sized, and th... Read more

The reception area and common room are attractive and make a great first impression. The room was well-designed and colorful (unlike some very bland rooms we stayed in on this trip). The blue light that encircles the pool area is a nice touch. There is a great view from the pool deck. We did not eat in the restaurant because its menu was not very kid-friendly. We did order room service, and while the food was good, there was only a setting for one even though I had made it clear we were sha... Read more

Location is everything in Chicago. This hotel offers a subway stop within 30 seconds of the front door (Grand Station Red Line). You are a few minutes away from Mag-Mile and from the Chicago River Walk. The staff is friendly and attentive. The gentlemen working the front doors and luggage (James and Miles) are very careful and treat your bags as if their own. They are also very professional and call you by name. I stayed at the Palomar hotel in July and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had at any hotel. I have stayed at many 5 star hotels but this was the best experience anywhere. I arrived with my seven year old grandson who is a busy boy. While I was checking in the bellman played hopscotch with him in the lobby. I explained that my five year old granddaughter would be coming the next night as well and the lovely Justin at the desk gave us a very comfortable room that had plenty of ro... Read more

We've stayed there often through the years and I knew that our guests would enjoy their stay. Jake and his team were a pleasure to work with. This hotel is located about 3 blocks from the Magnificent Mile. Easy to walk to many fine shops and restaurants. A nice walk to the Chicago Institute of Art, very doable. The hotel lobby serves complimentary coffee in the morning. There are newspapers also, but they go fast! In the evening they serve complimentary wine. There is iced water out all day. Can they possibly be profitable with all of the "extras" they offer to Karma members? Are they underpricing to drive out competition? (Unlikely, given the huge Chicago market.) Don't get me wrong- this is far from an inexpensive hotel. Initial impressions are critical and when we arrived via taxi from the airport the small circular drive this hotel possesses was full of parked cars and not a valet or bellman was in sight. Kimpton Hotels seem to try very hard to make sure their guests have an enjoyable stay at a reasonable price, and the Palomar hotel demonstrates this effort at every turn. The staff is professional and pleasant, and the rooms are modern and comfortable. Quieter rooms are, somewhat obviously, found on the higher floors (except on the 17th floor, where the pool is located: where pools are, children congregate). Stayed here in September for a business meeting. Stayed on the 8th floor, directly across from the elevators. The elevators were very loud and the crack going around the room door allowed for hallway light and plenty of noise that was easily heard from people returning to their rooms. The rooms were very nice other than the aforementioned comment & the staff were also very friendly. I would shy away from a room near the elevators due to how loud they are.
