Good hotel, but not my favourite. The staff is not really friendly and the fact that they dont offer any kind of room service doesnt help. Locationwise it is great, but i never had a very good view from my room, which is quite a shame.

It doesn't get more central than this! Walking distance to all the great places of Chicago. My friend and I found this hotel to be lovely and the staff to be extremely hospitable, especially Kwame at the front desk and the doormen. We were always greeted with a smile! The room had a large, lovely bathroom and comfortable beds. The view wasn't much, but it didn't matter. Great rate for a centrally located hotel. Will definitely come back

This hotel's location is on Walton Place, just off Michigan Avenue, and directly across from the Drake Hotel. However, because it's *not* on Michigan Avenue, it's actually a much easier place to access and you aren't right smack in the middle of the noise and traffic. It's a great location, and I would return here just for that alone. Kwame provided quick and excellent service at check-in, along with some restaurant suggestions. Our room was very nice, with a unique layout. The rainfall sho... Read more

Great location along the magnificent mile. Older building which gives it plenty of character but there is a downside. Since it's older, they can only have either the air conditioning on or the heat. Not both. Since it was still cool, the heat was on. When the temperature rose on our second day there, it became uncomfortable in the room. We opened the window which took care of the temperature but let in the city sounds which really wasn't bad. I didn't have a problem but I can see where others co... Read more

The staff was great, the accommodations were more than adequate. The location was on point. Close to the beach for a morning run. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance, then an evening stroll window shopping.

Excellent location and incredible staff. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. You will be a block from the John Hancock Center, where there is a Big Bus tour stop and the area is surrounded by shops. Ask for Kwame at the front desk, he is definitely the best!

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, and overall we are very happy with the facility. The front desk staff is great, especially Chrissiana who credited our wifi charges for us. The lobby and building is really stunning in its renaissance architecture. The Lake area location in the Loop is also very convenient. The couple of nit-picks that prevented a 5-star rating were that when we walked in, the room smelled like the previous occupant was a smoker (the hotel is non-smoking)... Read more

Excelent and warming welcome from host Kwame. I got an unexpected upgraded room in my first visit in a priviledged Chicago area and historic building. A block away fromthe lake and nearby a food corridor. Behind the water tower and magnificient mile. Recommended for history lovers. Pitty I am just staying two days!

Beautiful hotel, great location and with a WONDERFUL staff. A true sample of excellent hospitality. A few blocks away you will find the beach, water tower and Michigan avenue ( not even a block). Thank you so much Kwame you made our vacations just great! El hotel tiene un ambiente increíble y el Staff es de primera categoría! Se nota que su prioridad es la amabilidad y servicio al cliente. Location is fantastic, near Michigan Ave and also not far from Beach. Also it is quite at night( I was on 9th floor), no problem for me to sleep. One thing not convenient (for me) is that there is no vending machine. You need to cross around 1 block to find a grocery store. Not too far. And carpet is not that clean but acceptable.

Classic hotel in a perfect location near Oak Street Beach, top notch shopping, great restaurants, etc. The room was a bit tight, but roomy enough. Bathroom had rain shower, a modern touch. Coffee provided in-room. Would stay here again.

Old hotel, in good condition. Very updated new bathrooms and furnishing. Staff is good not aggressive however on service. Did not eat at the cafe. There on business and out of the hotel all day. Great location, a block off Michigan Avenue, across from the Drake hotel. Step across the street if you need a taxi quickly. They all go to the Drake first for pickup. Only two blocks from the beach on the lake front.

Location, not bad, but bit of a walk to most things you would like to do. Hotel bit tired. Only two out of three lifts working, and very slow. OK, but don't expect too much. OK place to rest your head if you are planning to be out most of the time. Not a hotel to relax in.

I made a booking error and the Knickerbocker was extremely helpful in the resolution of my error! The concierge was super helpful and thirdly, the bed pillows were of a variety of thickness!! Rather than all poofy, thick pillows there were two that were thinner and 'just right?' Did I mention valet parking? This is where we will definitely stay our next Chicago visit!

I had a completely other expectation before my arrival in the hotel. Based on pricing and the photos on their homepage I thought this will be a really good hotel in a historic building. But it is just old. Hallways are smelly, carpets old, Internet costs extra (this is really ridiculous in those modern times!). Mattresses are very soft, but of course there are people who will like this fact - I had backache after just one night. Only positive thing was the good size of the room... Service also ... Read more

We stayed in this hotel for one night only a couple of years ago when we started Route 66 and loved it So we returned for here for another week as a family holiday I have to say on arrival the doormen were unhelpful only focused on the guests for a wedding that was taking place! Great price since it was half as much as The Drake which was right across the street. Great Location since we were one block away from one of the best beaches in Chicago and the double decker bus pickup. Great Service. Only thing is they don't do a good job of letting you know the internet is not free and cost almost $12 a day. But when I brought it up they gladly refunded me. Great hotel.

I come to Chicago a few times a year. When I do not stay at my Sister's home, I have been sampling hotels and inns as pricing discounts cycle through. Overall, the Millenium Knickerbocker is getting tired. I had some five-star moments and a few low to zero-star moments. First, Charlie, the doorman is a 5-star experience. I happily valeted my car with him. I had only a shoulder bag for my short stay, as did my Daughter, so we did not need help with our luggage. Nonetheless, he opened the do... Read more

This hotel is located right at the beginning of Chicago's "Magnificent Mile". It is an older hotel and definitely have the atmosphere of Chicago in the 1920's. It is full of history and you almost expect Al Capone to show up in the lobby. The room was on the smaller side, but very comfortable and clean. The coffee shop off the lobby is a great place for a light meal. All in all I truly enjoyed the stay in this hotel.

The Knickerbocker has a great location just a short walk off the Magnificent Mile and our room came in about a $100 per night less than neighboring hotels. When you see a lower rate on an older hotel you wonder if it is not kept up, but the room, while small, had a modern bathroom. The old elevators were a hoot, the lobby was fine, the staff seemed friendly. Only drawback is that one of the news networks didn't have a picture, while all the other stations did.

An example of a poorly-thought-out mix of old & updated is in the bar/lounge area: You sit down and are handed enormous, hard-to-hold iPad-type tablets, with displays and videos of drinks & snacks - but you can't order from the tablet! A waiter has to be flagged down, just like the "old days! Similar situation at breakfast. Very small rooms, lacking period/historical detail: Updated with cheap, "new" & generic mid-range hotel look.

This hotel is very convenient for shopping on Michigan Ave / Miracle Mile. The rooms are clean and fairly well appointed, but be sure to get a room at the end of a hallway. It is a 1920's hotel, so the mid-hallway rooms are quite small. Unfortunately not much of the 1920's charm remains and some of the public spaces are a little worn. Room itself was nice & bathroom was spacious and modern.

We were at a different hotel that was across town and stayed here the second night. It was such an upgrade. Clean and nice accommodations. The location was wonderful, 5 min walk from one of the "beaches." The only downside was the price to park which was outrageous, as are all the hotels in Chicago. We parked in a garage across the street for about 20 dollars less, but had an issue with them the next morning.

Conveniently located in the Magnificent Mile just off Michigan Ave, this hotel affords you easy access to the area's shops, restaurants, bars, and the Northwestern Memorial Medical Campus. It's extremely quiet (it's on Walton, not Michigan), clean, and comfortable. We were met by friendly staff and made to feel at home. Wifi is free to those staying at the hotel. They even upgraded the TV network to HD the morning we stayed. One caveat - the real reason Chicago is called the Windy City is becaus... Read more

This was my first visit to Chicago, and I have to say I was not disappointed. The people of Chicago who I had the pleasure to meet was very friendly and helpful. My wife and I walked most of our way around the most of the attractions. The bars and restaurants was good value for money, the breakfast run every morning was great, as we looked for somewhere every morning. We started the day on a very large breakfast which lasted most of the day. I will be returning to this great state, and visit o... Read more

We had a reservation for 2 nights for a quick trip to Chicago. Unfortunately, our airline had trouble and ended up canceling our trip. The hotel would not reimburse our hotel reservation for that night. At least offer a voucher. NO. Will not book at this hotel again.

Whilst the impression was that the hotel had seen better days it did have a very nice ambiance. The location was very good and our room was quite reasonable for a city centre hotel. However, there were some downsides, in particular there was no room service which was very surprising, and we were referred to the bar if we wanted anything. Unfortunately, the service at the bar was very slow and they seemed short of staff. The was a restaurant but it only served breakfast which whilst OK was overpr... Read more

Some girlfriends from out of town and I booked this hotel through a Hotwire Hotrate deal so that we could stay in the city for the weekend. We didn't choose this hotel specifically, it was part of the mystery deal. It's advertised as a 4-star hotel, and I'm not really sure how. The lobby and the rooms are very underwhelming, especially for the price we paid with a "deal". During the summer this would be a great location to walk to Oak Street Beach or North Avenue Beach as the lake is less than t... Read more

While this hotel is nicely located, it is beyond shabby! Every single piece of furniture and soft good needs to be replaced. Thread bare has a new meaning. Carpets unraveling and none too clean; upholstery in severe need of replacement; chipped and dented wood furniture; cheesy drapes. Ugh! Public rooms dark and dingy.

A very warm & welcoming hotel. Comfortable rooms, good food & great bar. We enjoyed our historic hotel tour, conducted by the very kind concierge. We looked forward to a great night's rest after our busy Chicago days! We will definitely stay here on our next trip.

I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and while the hotel itself is just average, the location certainly is not. Right off Michigan Avenue, this place is so convenient that you overlook the décor which is a bit tired. My room however was very functional and updated. The price was good for this part of town and the staff was extremely nice. The little bar was always very busy. I would stay here again.

My sister got married at this hotel recently. Everything went great - from check in to the ceremony and reception. Food was delicious, service was fantastic. The event planner provided by the hotel was excellent. Only a couple knocks: first, most of the guests were able to get better room deals by booking with outside vendors (ex. Trip Advisor) as opposed to the room block set up by the bride and groom. Second, the elevators were as old as the hotel (it seemed) - they were quite small and quite ... Read more

The MK is located in the Near North neighborhood across from the Drake Hotel around the corner from the top of the Magnificent Mile high end shops. Area itself not too interesting but walkable to everywhere else. Hotel was nice, certainly old, rooms themselves were clean and comfortable.

Stayed in a superior king room over the week - the hotel is located in a prime location! We pretty much walked everywhere we needed to go, 25 min walk was probably the longest we had. The location made the trip ideal and very easy. The hotel itself is very nice - the service is 5 stars - from beginning to end. The rooms are clean and nice and have everything I think you need. The beds are extremely comfortable. Had an amazing time, highly recommend and cannot wait to return one day!

We stayed on a Wednesday night. Saved some money deciding on this hotel. Check in was a breeze, room was small, but to be expected in an older building. I was impressed with the modern bathroom. Room 814 worked for us & we enjoyed the sliver of lake we could see. Great location. Will stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Millennium Knickerbocker. The room was perfect- clean, spacious, and comfortable. We stayed in a room with 2 double beds. Walking up and down the magnificent mile to get places was pleasant and if shopping is your main attraction then this is a perfect hotel. However, it was a bit far from many attractions, but for the price, definitely worth it. Uber is always an easy option for further attractions. It is a beautiful hotel with lots of older details that make ... Read more

Stayed with a friend and really enjoyed the location. Just steps away from Michigan Avenue, great restaurants and the parks, I very much enjoyed walking to the Millennium Park to see their daily summer concerts. Rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast is delicious and great quality! Highly recommended.

My Husband and I recently stayed at the Milennium Kickerbocker Hotel. The hotel was quaint not one of your large Modern hotels. I loved it's location. Literally one block to Michigan Avenue. They've done a good job at maintaining the hotel charm. I tend to prefer more modern hotels but it was a great change. The rooms were comfortable and decent size. The front desk check in and Bell hop was average as we did arrive late in the evening. Amenties were not explained to us so we just figured it out... Read more

I have stayed at the Knickerbocker numerous times and it has always been pleasant. However, on my most recent stay, October 7, I erroneously left a skirt in my room. I would take full responsibility for my loss if my skirt wasn't found by housekeeping. However, I called the hotel the next day and was told they had found my skirt and would ship it to me. More than a month later, I haven't received my skirt. Now, according to lost & found, there is no record of it in their log. I was promised a re... Read more
