"I have stayed here a few times, and have always been impressed with the whole experience. This time, though, we had a little problem with broken glass in the bathroom when we arrived-in fact one of us stepped on it! I reported it at the front desk, and recieved a polite appology. We later discovered a used kleenex on the nightstand, and several of the glasses had greasy smudges on them"

"Our experience here was excellent. The lobby is gorgeous, the rooms are luxurious, and the staff was very friendly. The cleaning crew went above and beyond even laying out our toiletries all pretty and lining up our shoes.
The only drawback was that use of the pool and other spa stuff was an extra $10 a day. Other than that, this place was amazing."

"This hotel was awesome. From the complimentary, refreshing ice-water coolers filled with fresh fruit to the helpful and knowledgable concierge. Housekeeping staff were efficient and thoughtful. The decor and elevators were contemporary and unique. Great location. Fabulous view from our upgraded 32nd floor room. Very comfortable beds, although only doubles. The $55 per night parking fee was steep, considering we did not use our car for the duration of our stay. I would definitely stay here again."

"We checked in (AWESOME!) at the front desk. Girl desk clerk offered us an upgrade to our room for $50/nite which gave us a >180 degree view of the lake, the Chicago River from Michigan Ave. all the way out to Navy Pier, and lots of Chicago Skyline! The hotel is vertically triangular so our room had windows on 2 of the ~3 sides. I'm not sure I'd put 4.5 stars on this hotel just because the entry door trim was a little 'abused.' The room was spotless and, thankfully, the AC worked flawlessly. The staff was top-notch from valet to desk to cleaning staff, to the laundry guy that helped me find some ice when the machine on our floor ran out! Dinner was excellent. The one thing I thought was on the surprise! $ side was the $55/day extra for parking at the hotel."

"I was a little nervous about the mystery booking, but it turned out to be a great hotel and wonderful value. We had a great view on the 27th floor of the Navy Pier and could watch fireworks from the room. It was clean and the beds were unbelieveably comfortable. It was relatively quiet and the amenities on site were excellent. The only slightly negative thing I could say would be that the curtins did not close tight enough, so there was a bright sliver of light coming through the window in the morning. I would definitely book with this hotel again."

"Had a major issure upon checkin. Was told that my reservation had been canceled when I arrived at the hotel. Had to call the travel agency and wait for issure to be cleared up. Overall it did not take that long, but we were parked in the valet (thats all they have) and my wife was being told to move the car around as I was on the phone. Other than that the hotel was great, very clean and classy with a great view of downtown."

"We got a great deal to take the kids to see and do many fun things in Chicago. They enjoyed the Pool on the 42nd floor, and the ice water with different fruit in it each day. The location was very convenient to almost anything near the Magnificient Mile and taking the CTA was easy just a few blocks walk to the nearest L and just down the way to get on a bus. We stayed in a room with 2 double or queen beds and that worked out great! The room was always clean and was always a quiet place to come back to at the end of our long days."

"Fabulous hotel!! Awesome views of the city. We were on the 18th floor facing south.The room was clean and beds were very comfy. The pool on the 42nd floor was wonderful along with breathtaking views of the city, river, Navy Pier, and Lake Michigan. Love the fact that Starbucks coffee was served in the lobby. Plus, the two iced water coolers in the lobby...one had water with strawberry slices in it ...the other had sliced oranges in it....very refreshing! Thank you! Hotel close to everything within walking distance. Only two disappointments: the shower was not cleaned when we returned to our room the second day; the coffee pot did not work that morning....I left a note for the person that would be cleaning the room....when we returned that evening....the person had made a cup of coffee and left it on the coffee pot....thus, that was disgusting. I just left it like that the whole stay....two nights. Other than that our stay was fantastic."

A bit of a walk to the restaurants and entertainment area for the evening.
No complaints about hotel at all- safe was not working someone was at our door in minutes to fix. The doorbell gave me a bit of a jump was not expecting it when it happened. Great view we were on the 25th floor looking south we could see the fountain from our room in park. Elevators are easy just put your room floor in and it tells you what elevator will be yours.

"Stayed 1 night before flying back home following a 2 week holiday. Like other reviewers I was a bit concerned at booking a ' Mystery Hotel', but found the described location was exactly correct when the hotel was confirmed (the link to a map was very confusing though as for some reason it showed the hotel miles away). My only issue with an otherwise good room and bed was a noisy air conditioning vent which disruputed our sleep to some extent - not good when facing an overnight flight back to the UK. This manifested itself duing the night and turned out to be because of a missing screw. On checking out the representative referred me to the manager who offered a free breakfast or room upgrade on a subsequent visit - he refused any financial remuneration, which didn't surprise me, as the booking was made with a 3rd party."

"We had booked a last minute trip to Chicago and found a great price at the mystery hotel. My husband and I have not been away sans kids in over 4 years. We looked forward to staying there because it got great reviews and looked to be in the heart of the city. The lobby was beautiful and looked to be a 5 star hotel. It was not exactly in the heart of the shopping area but it was close enough to walk. When we checked in we were not greeted he said 'next' and he just asked for our names and gave us our room card. Did not say anything else. I asked if there were any upgrades available and he just ignored me and pointed to the elevator. The elevators were pretty cool as you punched in the floor and it told you what elevator to take. We checked into our room and the air conditioner was not really on. I lowered the temp to as cool as it would get. Which was 65 degrees. It was NOT gettting that cool. 72 tops. I sleep at 65 degrees in the summer so i know what it feels like. I called down to guest services and they said they would send someone up. We went out and came back after the room was slightly cooler. It stopped working after an hour or so. I called down again. To make a long story short it stopped working and I had to wait until 6 oclock in the morning to get some one to fix it. They called our room at around 6 and said that it was fixed and that they really controlled it on their end. Even though we had a temperature gage in our room it never really went down to that degree. It worked for a little over an hour and shut down again. I literally spent the night laying across the bed unable to get comfy. I took a cold shower and was just sweating. I could not sleep. That morning I called the front desk and the manager was not helpful or particularly friendly. He said there was nothing they could do but offer us a free breakfast. I explained that we didnt sleep and that it was an awful night. He said that he would call the engineering department and look into the matter. I said I called several times during the night and no one fixed it. He said he would look to see if I actually called or not. The nerve. I was so pissed he than called back and said that no one remembers talking to me. I asked him what he was prepared to do and he said I can give you a free breakfast. i was seething. So overally it was a BIG FAT WASTE OF MONEY. Their customer service is bad. It was not a relaxing romantic weekend."

"The hotel is beautiful and in an awesome location downtown. The concierge and staff were pleasant and helpful. The only issue that we had was that one of the people for whom I booked a separate room did not like that the hotel does not provide a top sheet. They supplied a sort of sheet comforter, so my friend was too warm. We also wondered if they laundered after every guest stay, but we assume they do. I am sure that if my friend had asked the staff to provide her with a top sheet, they would have done it. She did not ask, though.
All in all, though, we enjoyed the stay very much, and it was definitely a phenomenal deal for the price we paid."

"Was a little hesitant to book a mystery room as we have never done it before. Was an amazing experience! The room was excellent, the staff was very helpful as we were traveling with 2 children and had never been to the city of Chicago before. We walked everywhere we needed to go. Walking distance to American girl, nervy pier, etc. beautiful views of lake from room. They even upgraded us to a suite for free! This is a very classy hotel and the concierge was extremely helpful. Gave us detailed directions on where to go and how to get there. I would reccomend this hotel to all! Downfall, parking was 55 dollar per night, but they valet park you and you have no worries about your vehicle. "

"I liked the location of this hotel. Located next to the river and close enough to the El to be able to walk there. I took the El from Midway and it worked out well. Room service is VERY expensive, but the food was excellent and well presented. In-room internet is 9.95 per 24 hours and to use the computer in the business center is 6.95 for 15 minutes and extra if you want to print anything out on their printer. The employees were friendly and helpful. Overall, a good hotel for a Chicago visit!"

Thought the elevator system was kind of weird at first by having to press the floor you wanted in to the keypad but never had to wait more than a minute or two for one :) Our housekeeping staff member that made up our room was excellent. Rooms were pretty nice and we were allowed to check in before 1pm, which worked out really well for us. The parking was pricey, however you get in and out access for a 24hour period. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family!"

"I'll start by saying, I consider myself very picky in just about all areas to be honest. I was very hesitant to book a mystery hotel, especially since I was taking my mother, and my daughter. (My mother is probably more of a perfectionist than I am) I could not rate this hotel any higher! It was fantastic. Very modern, great location, the rooms were very clean, beds very comfortable, we had a fantastic view from the 12th floor. The pool and fitness center were superb also. An amazing view of chicago from the pool floor. and I read in earlier reviews that this hotel charged you for pool usage. Apparently, they used to, but NO LONGER DO!! I almost didn't book this mystery hotel because of that. The staff was very friendly at the hotel, and they had a luggage hold for 'free' so we were able to check out and have our luggage held while we walked the city for several more hours. The elevators are modernized so it was basically a private elevator and a direct shot to your floor every time. I have said enough, but I would not hesitate to book this hotel, It was amazing and I would definitely stay there again. (also the mystery deal saved us about $100 per night by booking it this way!!"

"I was highly disappointed with this hotel for multiple reasons. When we arrived at the hotel we were not able to check in early, however they informed us that we would be able to have 2 adjoining rooms. We got back an hour after check in time and only 1 room was available. We were told since we wanted rooms next to each other it was taking longer. An hour later we were able to check into the other room that was down the hall and NOT next to our other room. The next day after spending most of the morning and afternoon out we came back to an unclean room. We had to call and ask for somebody to clean our room and they did while we were in our room. The staff were rude and the concierge had very little time to answer questions we had. Our next Chicago visit I will stay next door where the service and overall experience is extraordinary compared to this non-luxury 4.5 hotel!!"

"I was a little apprehensive about booking a mystery hotel. I was a little caught off guard by the additional fees added to the advertised price (taxes and service fees are not included in the price shown plus $100 extra person charge). When we checked in at the hotel, they tried to put us in a room with a king size bed (it was my daughter, son-in-law, 20 month-old grandson, and me - would have been rather cozy. I had requested two beds when I booked the room.) After trying to get us to upgrade to a suite for an additional $100 a night, the hotel did find us a room with double beds. The staff was friendly and courteous. The view from the room wasn't great, but we were down on the 4th floor. The room was clean, quiet, and nicely decorated. The washroom was very nice and updated - it had a shower and a separate bathtub which was nice for the baby. Cheap, cheap toilet paper, though. The hotel's location was good. We were able to walk to many places and took a bus to the further areas. The hotel is undergoing renovations, but it really didn't affect us. Overall, I was pleased with my experience with the mystery hotel."

"This hotel is swank... the location is great and the rooms are really comfortable. I can say it was definitely a great buy w/ the price break acquired. However, the hotel was not really family friendly. Not that the staff was rude but just that as most luxury hotels everything is a la cart. There's a pool but there's also an undisclosed $15/person fee to use it. There's wifi but it's $10/day to use it... not even free access in the lobby. While the website for the hotel did say there was a daily wifi fee the price wasn't on the webpage nor in the e-brochure. So I had to call ahead and figure it out. Nowhere did I see anything about a pool usage fee... I only mention it as a negative b/c the kids were all super excited about swimming and in the end if wasn't in the budget. Maybe next time we'll just settle for a little less luxury if it means more family friendly accommodations."

"Our room was great - views of downtown, the river, and Lake Michigan because we were on a corner. The bed was the most comfortable ever! Very close to Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park, etc so a nice location for walking. We walked to and from the train station through the city and also the Aquarium on the lake path. Beautiful! Bought our Aquarium tickets at the hotel so we didn't have to wait in line! Cleanest hotel room I've ever seen! Great views from the pool on the 42nd floor!"

"This hotel was wonderful. I was traveling alone and felt very safe! The room was nicely appointed with everything someone might like including a refrigerator, coffee pot and a great lake view! The use of the health club with no additional fee was a real plus, exercise room, pool, hot tub,sauna, what more could anyone want. The lobby was being redecorated and was opening the day I left and it was just spectacular. The location was perfect with a short walk to Michigan Ave. and a behind the hotel was a park with playground, dog run and a downtown grocery store with a selection of wines and flowers to take to the people I was visiting. I have found a new home for when I visit Chicago!!"

"Very nice hotel. The lobby was under construction, but the it opened up the last day we were there and they had done some major renovations. The construction was not an issue for us. We were given a nice room overlooking the Navy Pier. We were close enough to walk to most shops/restaurants on Michigan Ave., Millenium Park, and Navy Pier. Staff was accomodating. We had a late flight on our check-out day and were able to store our bags at the hotel while we went sight-seeing. Food was disappointing and expensive. We only ate there one morning for breakfast, but there are far better meals around Chicago, especially for the price."

"We have visited Chicago over 70 times in the last five years, and this trip was one of the most disappointing. No wonder it was on sale! Construction made getting around the hotel very confusing and the 'valet parking' was non-existent! We were charged $5.00 more for the parking than the reservation stated, and drove ourselves into and out of the garage, entering a fast, busy street upon leaving. How can this hotel get away with so little 'service?' Even the elevators were confusing - to 'save energy.' The room was nice, as well as comfortable, but it is no 'Affinia.' We won't be going back unless tricked into it again."

"The hotel itself was very nice, but we were unaware that they were doing construction on the hotel until our arrival. Parking was very expensive, $55 a night, and they tried to charge additional nights for parking than we were there. The hotel is right in the middle of the city, between the main sites and close to shopping and places to eat. Our experience in the hotel restaurant was unpleasant. Our server was very rude and unattentive, we assumed because we were 'younger' than most of the other guests. Great hotel for business, however, not good for families or tourists."

"I would have to agree with reviewer 'Brandi' about this hotel. This was probably the worst stay we have ever had in Chicago. Construction was confusing - and loud. No chance of sleeping in on vacation after 8:30 a.m., because drilling going on overhead. Staff not friendly. Restaurants way too overpriced, and when ordered pizza to hotel, they would not allow pizza delivery to room 'for security reasons' - despite the fact that anyone and everyone else could just walk right in to lobby and ride up in elevators unchecked. Worst of all, hotel has policy of not washing linens unless they are placed into bathtub or shower. Despite the fact that we did this, we came back to our room to a stack of neatly folded towels in the bathroom only to find that the maid had apparently just 'folded' the dirty towels we had put into the tub. Wrinkled, Makeup, etc. still on towels we knew we had placed into tub. YUCK! We called Front Desk and all we got from management was 'we'll send up more towels' - not even an apology! Later that day, no ice in machines available and sewer smell engulfed entire 28th floor. The only 'mystery' about this hotel was how it ever managed a 4.5 star rating!"

"I procrastinated and hadn't made hotel reservations for a large trade show, only to find out that prices kept climbing, and availability was poor. The hotel was in an excellent location - 1/2 way between the trade show and shopping on the Mag Mile. Also, a short walk to Navy Pier. Shuttle to show at my doorstep. The fitness room and pool are now complimentary (a recent welcome change), and were very nice. Upon checkin, I had no wait, and was greeted by a friendly, professional. "Overall we had a positive experience at the hotel. The location was terrific, the room was quite clean, and the staff was friendly. However, we were not happy with the fact that the room did not have a fridge. There was something that looks like the fridge but we were told that it only stays at room temperature. It would have been nice to be able to store milk for our one year old baby in the fridge. Without the fridge, we ended up wasting a lot of milk and were unable to provide milk to our baby as often as we would have liked. Also, only two floors had ice. That was quite frustrating. Our floor also smells like sweat when we get off the elevator."

"I can understand the above comment about the confusion as to construction but that was the only thing I can agree with that commentary. My sister and I met up in Chicago for a big dose of culture and were delighted with our stay. I was checked in immediately, we had an excellent view of the river and peer with the ferris wheel lit up at night. The beds were amazing and the showerheads were awesome. I thought the room was first rate and our housekeeper couldn't do enough for us. The location in the Loop made it very convenient to all the spots we wanted to hit. I, too, will definitely try the mystery room again."

On the day we were leaving we found out there were tunnels that had restaurants,and shops and you could walk inside to Mich. ave. I wish they would have had info on that in the rooms because it was so bitterly cold to walk outside. We thought the beds were heavenly. The only problem we had was one of the girls left her bathing suit and prescription glasses in one of the drawers in the room and when we called about them the guy in the lost and found was sooo rude and I do not even think they checked to see if they were in the drawer so my advice..don't forget anything and lock your valuables up."

"Hotel was fantastic. shampoo and conditioner supplied they have a Kureg coffee maker so if you have a favorite i'd take it along! Pool and fitness facility wonderful! (we didnt have to pay the extra $15 charge i heard about) My grandson thought the beds were the most comfortable beds ever made! Didn't eat there (too pricey) but easy to get around check in/out very effecient i was able to check in early and they kept our bags secure after checkout until we were ready to leave. overall very nice stay."

"We had an amazing time in Chcicago by far the best city ever! Our Stay was great and the employees were friendly. We loved that everything was within a walking distance. Navy Pier was great, the trolly to tours was right on Michigan Drive not even a mile walk. Giordano's #1 Pizza place was less than a mile as well. Had an amazing view of the Michigan lake and river!"

"My stay here was very good experience, the view of the downtown Navy pier was excellent, the service was excellent ,the facility was excellent and the food at the Breakfast buffet was superby with a great waiter to match. Would stay here again."

"Was pretty upset with our visit to Chicago. Luckily paid a very discounted price would def never pay the full price and will not go back. Didn't know the hotel is under construction and they are not accommodating at all. Understaffed took forever to get checked in. Was confusing where to go due to construction and staff was not friendly nor helpful. The room was okay. Will have to say the Bed was amazing. View was semi okay. If look at a corner could see the river otherwise looking directly into business offices. People were seriously staring back at me while they were working lol So had to have the curtains closed the entire time. For a business trip would prob be okay but we went for my 30th birthday and it was a pretty far walk to get to the shops, eateries and pubs."

"I have never been brave enough to book a 'mystery' hotel. What a pleasant surprise! This was my favorite neighborhood in Chicago and the location is perfect. The hotel had a very European feel and the welcome gift of Swiss chocolates was an extra special surprise! The whole experience was enjoyable. I will absolutely try the 'mystery' experience again.
