It's not cheap to stay here - but it's not cheap to stay in the loop - the location is fantastic. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. My room was quiet, clean & comfortable. I felt welcome every time I came back to the hotel... I loved it!

As I write these words I am kicking myself for not having previously stayed at Hotel Monaco. The rooms and hotel are beautifully appointed and stylish. Everyone was extremely friendly. My daughter flew in late on a Saturday evening, so we decided to just go across the street to the Emerald Loop for a drink and appetizers. The doorman greeted us, asked where we were going, and when we told him he handed us a coupon for a free appetizer. The hotel visit was perfection, and this will be our "go to"... Read more

Checked in on May 13th for two nights on our first ever visit to Chicago. Picked this hotel mainly due to previous reviews. Location, cleanliness, service and amenities were not to be beat. Location was outstanding for walking everywhere we wanted to go. We were graciously upgraded to a corner suite in honor of celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary. Free WiFi and $10 mini bar credit comes with club membership which is free to join. Unfortunately, due to a death in the family, we needed to che... Read more

I spent just one night there but it was a lovely stay! A direct view of downtown and the Chicago River with really great service. I liked the fact that they would bring up essentials like emery board, razor nail polish remover hairspray etc. at no additional cost. They had an umbrella on loan and some really fun tell your bathrooms to use. The furniture was beautiful and very unique. It was a great stay!

An average hotel with a tad above average room tariffs. Location is fantastic! Doormen and staff were great. Checking in was a breeze..thank you. Room was clean/comfortable and amenities/toiletries were more than adequate. Housekeeping needs to be tweaked just a little. In my booking I asked for a room with a slight view of the river and I got a room with wheelchair accessibility, view of building's brick wall....go figure! Minor problem during the first 2 mornings when we slept in due to lat... Read more

Wonderful room with a nice view, even if it was of the Trump sign. But the service and staff were the best and made our trip even more enjoyable. It seems as if all the rooms have nice views and not blocked. And the location is first rate. Highly recommend.

We spent the second half of our business trip taking a couple of days for R and R here. Our room looked out to the river and Trump Hotel. The room was small but the bed was extremely comfortable. Every night at 5p is happy hour. We have stayed at quite a few Kimpton Hotels and must say we are spoiled. They served the same wine each night. Would have been nice to see a broader selection of specialty wines like when we stayed in San Diego and Seattle Kimpton hotels. We still totally enjoyed it. Gr... Read more

Stayed at the Hotel because it was close to the Chicago Theater. The staff was excellent and the room was comfortable and larger than I expected for a center-of-the-city hotel. The have a daily "wine hour" at 5 PM which is a good place to meet other people and pass on tips about the city.

One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in. We had a river view room with window seats that had an amazing view. Beds were comfortable and room cleanliness was perfect. Huge bathroom and the room itself was very roomy. Doormen were helpful and very nice, as was all of the staff. Highly recommend this hotel!!!

This is a beautiful place to stay. Staff is friendly and professional. Rooms are unique and spacious. Wifi is free if you sign up for the rewards card. This is a higher end hotel so free wifi might not excite you. Valet parking is $58 a night and no self parking options on property. You have a couple block walk for that Hotel is centrally located in downtown. They have loaner bikes this you may use as well. Very cool. I will definitely return.

I stayed here for 3 nights last week. It's an old hotel facility that's in a tremendous city center location. And at $400+ per night, that's OK. But it's way overpriced for the hotel that it is. Two old and very slow elevators. Rooms that don't smell fresh. (I reported pillows that smelled of stale sweat.) Bathrooms that have been cheaply "fixed up" but are rotting in the corners and around the edges. None of the electrical sockets on the desk worked. Not one. The room I had looked strai... Read more

Location is perfect for downtown adventures, tours, shopping etc. The staff is great, the rooms are clean and tidy and price is very competitive for a major city hotel. Be sure to ask for at least a partial view when you book. They were quite accommodating even though we were booked into a fairly low rate category. We didn't eat in the restaurant but did stop in for a drink. Fun vibe and high quality cocktails.

We stayed here for 4 nights for a vacation in July 2016, and am very glad that we did. The room was clean and (very) spacious. Bed was comfy, air conditioning was strong, and while Chicago parking is terrible no matter what, the overnight parking here was less than the other hotels in the area. The best was the location - EASY walking distance to many of Chicago's big attractions and restaurants, and convenient to public transportation for everything else. I would happily stay here again.

Kimpton was a great choice as it was centrally located within the Loop and walking distance to Millennium Park, Navy Pier, and the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. We LOVE Kimptons and have stayed at all the Chicago locations. Biggest drawback to the Monaco is if you have a car - no real drive up area; and getting car from valet in mornings takes extremely long (even with the text first option, still took 20 mins which is too long). Staff is awesome: front desk couldn't be nicer and doormen amazing. Rooms are clean - ask for a river view on a high floor! The window seats are such a unique feature to this hotel. Large, clean, nicely appointed room in the heart of the Chicago loop! Everyone on the staff is exceptionally helpful, courteous, and friendly. Shout out to Antonio and Matt, the bellhops, to David at the desk who facilitated our check-in process, and Laura who created cute animals out of our towels!! All were so accomodating and polite. We could walk to so many places- Chicago Art Institute, Navy Pier, N Michigan Ave, Millenium and Grant Park, and so much more. The hotel amenities-wine ho... Read more

This is one of the most comfortable and beautiful hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The rooms are stunning and the views are incredible; especially at night when the city is all lit up. From the customer service, to the tasty room service, to the incredible welcome... I could ask for more. This hotel is a must when in town.

Great boutique hotel in the heart of Downtown Chicago. We had a late night check-in and was initially given a room on the 2nd floor. My husband didn't want to be so close to the street so we asked the staff if there were any other rooms available at a higher floor. Since it was a busy weekend, there were no comparative rooms, but they upgraded us to a better room with no extra charge. Staff is friendly and very attentive. They helped us figure out directions to the closest L stops and which trai... Read more

Awesome hotel staff! I stay here 1-2 times a year for business travel, and almost every visit has been a good one. Pros: -Excellent Complimentary Coffee/Tea in AM (in lobby) -Complimentary wine in evening (in lobby) -Great concierge. Mark is the Man!! -Rooms are usually big, only once I was given a very small room, but they quickly, (no fuss) moved us up to a better room -they store luggage Cons: I always rent a room with jacuzzi to unwind after my hectic schedule, and I have always had to ask ... The hotel, although not extraordinary in any way was very acceptable in every way. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. The room was furnished in an above-average way. It was great for a night, very happy with our selection. The rate was reasonable for the accommodation and service provided.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Monaco for one week in August 2016 for a combined business/leisure trip. I booked well in advance and received a reasonable rate and requested a king with a view. We were pleasantly surprised with the window nook and view from the room. The location is hard to beat, right on the river, in the center of downtown and within walking distance to almost all of the sights. Service was fantastic to accommodating our early check-in request, notifying me by text when the ... Read more

Simply put, this is a top notch hotel Everything was comfortable--room, staff, even the pillows we had requested in advance. We will want to stay here again on future trips for the convenience to our favorite part of town and the friendly, helpful staff. There is also the added bonus of an incredibly comfortable, perfect bed. Best hotel bed we have ever slept in. The doorman/doormen were all wonderful, doing everything expertly from opening doors, hailing cabs and handling luggage. Recei... Read more

Hotel Monaco was in the perfect location. It was within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and many tourist points. The staff was very accommodating and very friendly. We had written in our online reservation that it was anniversary and waiting in our room was a complimentary bottle of wine and dessert. The room was a boutique style of room. Everything was very clean. The best part was the large window seat that boasted views of the river and downtown. The concierge was right on b... Read more

This beautiful hotel is only a block from the River Walk and only about 3 blocks from the Millennium Train Station. The staff was so eager that we enjoy ourselves. They couldn't have been more accommodating . We were fortunate enough to have a room with a river view. We would go back here in a heartbeat

A very nice stay in June of 2016. Not over the top luxury but very friendly staff and well maintained facilities. Very convenient location for transportation and downtown attractions. One mark of a quality establishment is how they handle an adverse situation or customer service issue. Although we had pre-paid for the room via SWA vacations, we were presented with an invoice upon checkout for the cost of the room. The clerk could not have been more pleasant and helpful about rectifying the situa... Read more

The Monaco is a beautiful boutique hotel in the Loop with an excellent staff that we found always accommodating and pleasant during a four day stay in Chicago. Our room on the eleventh floor gave us a view of the river. We found the location central to our walking tours of the city.

Great establishment... pet friendly. This was a business visit, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant was pricy but if you're staying here you probably are not worried about that... the rooms are also on the higher end. The location pits you smack in walking distance or short cab ride to all attractions and airport... You will not be disapointed.

My husband and I stayed the weekend at the Monaco and were expecting a bit more. There were some positives, so I will start with those. The staff at the door were always exceptionally friendly and accommodating! They greeted us every time we came back to the hotel and were always very easy to talk to. We enjoyed them very much. The staff at the front desk was, for the most part, nice and accommodating as well. If our stay were based on those two areas, we would without a doubt return. There we... Read more

I can't say enough great things about this hotel! Our time there was fantastic and can't wait to go back! The room is excellent, happy hour is even better - but it's the staff that really make this place. Everyone works so hard to ensure that everything about your stay is perfect. Highly recommend this hotel!

Spent one night at the Kimpton Monaco Chicago and had to review because the staff was WONDERFUL. I had a very speedy, less than 24 hour stay between and it felt like I had been there for days with how the staff treated me. They were so kind, so helpful, and always asked if I needed anything at all. The night audit team still there in the morning to check me out on Monday AM 9/19 were lovely. They made sure I checked that I had everything before I left and engaged in the loveliest of conversation... Read more

We splurged on the AV Serenity Suite for a week in July to celebrate my husband's birthday. IT WAS DIVINE! The one bedroom suite is beautifully decorated and quite large. The window nooks made it especially nice (those are available in all or most rooms, I believe). We had three nooks - two large enough for two to read books in or for one to take a comfortable nap. The location of the suite makes for a wonderful way to while away the afternoon. To curl up in a nook and read a book (if you c... Read more

We recently stay here over a long weekend (3 nights) and were treated very well from the time we arrived. We were able to check in early so we dropped off our bags and hit the town. The staff are all friendly and helpful. You expect it front he front desk but I find it refreshing when everyone is professional and polite. The doormen, the happy hour house, the concierge, the guy setting up the coffee bar, housekeeping were very pleasant and made us feel relaxed. The room was comfortable. Th... Read more
