It's not cheap to stay here - but it's not cheap to stay in the loop - the location is fantastic. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. My room was quiet, clean & comfortable. I felt welcome every time I came back to the hotel... I loved it!

As I write these words I am kicking myself for not having previously stayed at Hotel Monaco. The rooms and hotel are beautifully appointed and stylish. Everyone was extremely friendly. My daughter flew in late on a Saturday evening, so we decided to just go across the street to the Emerald Loop for a drink and appetizers. The doorman greeted us, asked where we were going, and when we told him he handed us a coupon for a free appetizer. The hotel visit was perfection, and this will be our "go to"... Read more

Checked in on May 13th for two nights on our first ever visit to Chicago. Picked this hotel mainly due to previous reviews. Location, cleanliness, service and amenities were not to be beat. Location was outstanding for walking everywhere we wanted to go. We were graciously upgraded to a corner suite in honor of celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary. Free WiFi and $10 mini bar credit comes with club membership which is free to join. Unfortunately, due to a death in the family, we needed to che... Read more

I spent just one night there but it was a lovely stay! A direct view of downtown and the Chicago River with really great service. I liked the fact that they would bring up essentials like emery board, razor nail polish remover hairspray etc. at no additional cost. They had an umbrella on loan and some really fun tell your bathrooms to use. The furniture was beautiful and very unique. It was a great stay!

An average hotel with a tad above average room tariffs. Location is fantastic! Doormen and staff were great. Checking in was a breeze..thank you. Room was clean/comfortable and amenities/toiletries were more than adequate. Housekeeping needs to be tweaked just a little. In my booking I asked for a room with a slight view of the river and I got a room with wheelchair accessibility, view of building's brick wall....go figure! Minor problem during the first 2 mornings when we slept in due to lat... Read more

Wonderful room with a nice view, even if it was of the Trump sign. But the service and staff were the best and made our trip even more enjoyable. It seems as if all the rooms have nice views and not blocked. And the location is first rate. Highly recommend.

We spent the second half of our business trip taking a couple of days for R and R here. Our room looked out to the river and Trump Hotel. The room was small but the bed was extremely comfortable. Every night at 5p is happy hour. We have stayed at quite a few Kimpton Hotels and must say we are spoiled. They served the same wine each night. Would have been nice to see a broader selection of specialty wines like when we stayed in San Diego and Seattle Kimpton hotels. We still totally enjoyed it. Gr... Read more

Stayed at the Hotel because it was close to the Chicago Theater. The staff was excellent and the room was comfortable and larger than I expected for a center-of-the-city hotel. The have a daily "wine hour" at 5 PM which is a good place to meet other people and pass on tips about the city.

One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in. We had a river view room with window seats that had an amazing view. Beds were comfortable and room cleanliness was perfect. Huge bathroom and the room itself was very roomy. Doormen were helpful and very nice, as was all of the staff. Highly recommend this hotel!!!

This is a beautiful place to stay. Staff is friendly and professional. Rooms are unique and spacious. Wifi is free if you sign up for the rewards card. This is a higher end hotel so free wifi might not excite you. Valet parking is $58 a night and no self parking options on property. You have a couple block walk for that Hotel is centrally located in downtown. They have loaner bikes this you may use as well. Very cool. I will definitely return.

I looked for hours and hours for a hotel in Chicago. This place was perfect. Best location, cute boutique hotel with modern finishes. Gorgeous room. Great service. Wine hour in the evenings! What more could you ask for!? We were very happy and would totally stay here again.

Great service. Great location. The room was clean and the view was great. They had a wine hour every night from 5 to 6 which was awesome. Would recommend this place highly. It's location was perfect to walking to all the places that a person would want to go on a visit to Chicago. The magnificent mile, millennium Park, the Navy pier and great restaurants were all within walking distance.

I stayed here for 3 nights last week. It's an old hotel facility that's in a tremendous city center location. And at $400+ per night, that's OK. But it's way overpriced for the hotel that it is. Two old and very slow elevators. Rooms that don't smell fresh. (I reported pillows that smelled of stale sweat.) Bathrooms that have been cheaply "fixed up" but are rotting in the corners and around the edges. None of the electrical sockets on the desk worked. Not one. The room I had looked strai... Read more

We've stayed here before and each time has been good. We were greeted with smiles even before we entered the hotel. We got there early and our rooms were ready. If you are a Karma member you will get a free drink up to $10 during your stay. The rooms are nice. You do have to ask for a coffee maker to be in the room. That was there within minutes of my request. Lemon water available all day. Coffee and tea in the morning. A very nice free wine reception from 5-6 daily. Location is great! Excellen... Read more

Great hotel in a perfect location. We booked the day of travel and got a great deal. Arrival was seamless -- we left our car with the valet, checked in, and grabbed a complimentary glass of wine that is served daily during happy hour. The rooms are attractive with all the amenities either available or upon request. The staff, from the front desk to valet, are very friendly and helpful. The Hotel Monaco is Top-Notch! We celebrated 2 family birthdays and the entire staff was very helpful and friendly and concierge was phenomenal. The amenities, presentation and location were all things I've come to expect from a Top-10 Hotel and The Monaco lived up to it.. especially at an incredible value!

This hotel is amazing, the staff were great and the location is perfect. They even have me a gift for my birthday. I definitely will only stay here when I visit Chicago. There is also a self parking garage right around the corner if you want to save a few dollard.

Location is perfect for downtown adventures, tours, shopping etc. The staff is great, the rooms are clean and tidy and price is very competitive for a major city hotel. Be sure to ask for at least a partial view when you book. They were quite accommodating even though we were booked into a fairly low rate category. We didn't eat in the restaurant but did stop in for a drink. Fun vibe and high quality cocktails.

We stayed here for 4 nights for a vacation in July 2016, and am very glad that we did. The room was clean and (very) spacious. Bed was comfy, air conditioning was strong, and while Chicago parking is terrible no matter what, the overnight parking here was less than the other hotels in the area. The best was the location - EASY walking distance to many of Chicago's big attractions and restaurants, and convenient to public transportation for everything else. I would happily stay here again.

We took a small 3 day trip to explore some of the things that Chicago had to offer. Kimpton was a great choice as it was centrally located within the Loop and walking distance to Millennium Park, Navy Pier, and the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. Rooms were exceptionally large and comfortable. Entire facility was extremely clean and neat. Hotel gym was about average. The happy hour was an unexpected touch. Staff was extremely polite.

We stayed in this hotel a year ago and I almost wrote a scathing review as the room was SO LOUD but location location location location as they say. The 4th location reference is that this hotel is in an excellent spot. Close to the Magnificent Mile, the river, Millennium Park, the theaters and the train. Too close to the train on the Wabash side though. DO do do ask for a room on the river side or the back. We stayed in 511 and it was relatively quiet (it's still downtown Chicago and you are go... From the leather/mirrored headboard, to the leopard print bathrobes, red velvet walls in the elevator and yoga mats on the room I can only say the place is interesting. Shower was okay, bathroom space was great, beds were very soft and sunk in (made for very sore backs and the only reason it didn't get 5/5 rating) location was everything - easy to get to Michigan avenue, the bean, and great restaurants and Starbucks close. This hotel is my youngest daughter's favorite in all of Chicago. Mostly for the fantastic window seats but also for the hotel staff. Last year they upgraded us for her birthday but this year they didn't. She was disappointed but soon got over it. I love Kimpton properties for their quirkiness and cozy rooms. I stayed here 2 nights in July with my boyfriend. The bed was super comfy, loved the window seat. Very clean and nice decor. The staff was all very friendly and called us by name. They had iced and hot coffee in the lobby in the morning, which made up for the lack of coffee maker in the room.
