This hotel is very well kept. I love Kimpton properties because they really take care of everything. It was close to where I was working so I was able to walk to and from my work office for the week. The ONLY downside is there wasn't a proper dresser in the room for me to put away all of my clothes. The closet is TINY, like SUPER tiny. Plus, they only give you two small drawers in the entertainment center. It was barely enough to hold my clothes. I had to leave some in my suitcase and rotate it ... Read more

Easy reservation process and quick check-in. Staff was efficient, polite and had great attitudes to want to do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. Great location and nice atmosphere. We had a twin queen room which was a little tight for 3 adults and 1 child. This is not unusual for old historic hotels. Question if the beds were really queen size and they were a little soft. As mentioned in other reviews the bathrooms are small. We would stay here again in a single bed room if ... Read more

Front desk staff are genial and efficient. Rooms are comfortable and functional. Meeting rooms are easily accessible and reasonably well laid out. The best thing about this hotel is that the location makes it easy to get away to good food and diversions, particularly Millennium Park. If heading to Ohare around mid-afternoon / early evening, consider taking the nearby Blue Line mass transit; travel by car took over 90 minutes.

Stayed here for a friend's wedding in the city and was very pleasantly surprised by the property. The room was perfectly cleaned and the room temperature was easily adjustable without a hassle. The overall property definitely screams urban boutique and the staff was very polite and helpful. Complimentary coffee and evening drinks are served complimentary as well. The only cons would be the smaller hotel room size, rooms with one bed may prove to be a tight squeeze from some couples and water i... Read more

If you are traveling on business or just a holiday this is a great downtown hotel to stay in - its pretty central to all attractions or easy to catch the train or bus. From the airport by tain is the best way to get here as its quick, well quicker than the 1 hour by road. The rooms are small but have what you need, the bar/lounge area is the central meeting place and it serves coffee for free all day as well as sparkeling wine from 1700 to 1800 daily, dont miss this ! Need to find a laundromat if you staying in the downtown Chicago theatre district. Forget it, nothing for miles. So sussed it out. You catch a blue line train on the CTL with your Ventra card which you buy at subway station for $5 and then load up like you would a Tokyio Suico pass. This card works like a debit card so you can use it in shops etc it has paypass capability and is valid for 4 years. I went to Chicago to see the Beauty and the beast. Hotel is literally next door what made me decide for it. Walking distance to all downtown Chicago attractions. Our room was very small but well decorated and clean. They have happy hour at the lobby on Fridays and Saturdays. I dont know if they have it during the week. Staff is very polite and attentive to your needs. Parking is $60 a night. If you go to Spothero you can get parking in less than half a block for $25 a day.

Great hotel in the middle of The Loop. Cool decoration and amenities including fresh coffee in the mornings and wine in the nights (Free of charge). Walking distance to the theaters and to the Millennium Park and Willis Tower. Dogs are allowed and that is very cool. Having a drink in the lobby with a some cool dogs around. The room was very quiet. :)

This was my first stay at the Hotel Allegro, and I can happily say that it won't be my last. The hotel itself, and all the staff I encountered, were great. I especially love the location of this hotel. It was convenient to everything I wanted to do in Chicago. I also thought it was a great value, considering the prices for other hotels in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. I only have one negative thing to report, and it was not the fault of the hotel or its staff. Just as nobody can choos... Read more

All the things one hopes for when staying in a hotel in the city: Beautiful room, lots of plugs that are easy to access to charge the plethora of devices, lovely decor, quiet room, lots of hot water, and (most importantly) a comfortable bed. ... and the location didn't hurt either. This was my second stay at this hotel while traveling through Chi-town for business. And will do so again.

This is a bit of a hipster hotel, and it's designed with a lot of lobby sitting areas to encourage gathering there; the hotel serves free prosecco and other drinks there between 5 and 6 p.m., and folks do gather. The staff is nice and helpful, and they offer free bikes to ride, which was great. But then you go upstairs to your room: This is clearly an old hotel that was freshened up with hipster black and white décor, but nothing was done to the rooms themselves. I stayed here for four nights while on business and while I appreciated the "Grab and Go" food option from the bar, I really missed the option to order room service. I am a corporate trainer and the last thing I want to do after a full day of work is stand in line at a crowded bar to get a cold sandwich. Also, the walls are very thin and I had to call security on a Monday evening when the room next to me decided to have a "hotel party" at 1:00am. Totally understand that it's outside of the hote... Stayed here for one night while in town for our nephew's wedding. It was only 3 blocks from the reception venue and the riverfront. Easy walk. Very nice, modern hotel. We had a king room and the bed took up most of the room so don't expect a big room...it's not. But, we didn't spend much time in the room anyway...just a place to sleep. So it was fine. It was great to be in walking-distance to so many of the city's attractions. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very nice. The location of this hotel can't be beat. It's only 2 blocks from the L Blue Line, which takes you to and from O'Hare Airport. It is also within a few blocks of all the other L trains. It's a 10-minute walk to Michigan Avenue and Millennium Park. Yes, the rooms are small, but it's a historic hotel, not a new build, so that is to be expected. I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It's neat with the art, redesigned older bldg, etc. but the rooms are tiny, the elevators are slow, and I could care less about a yoga mat and cheetah robe. I did enjoy the free wine at happy hour though. On a side note, during our stay the hotel staff gave my colleague a key to someone else's room...that story didn't end well!

This is a very nice hotel in the theatre district. We paid for a room up grade but the rooms are still quite 'cosy'! The decor is very nice and the public areas are spacious if you do not visit when there are events/weddings taking place! Unfortunately we only found the details of our hotel amenities hidden in a small drawer at the end of our stay so we had no idea there was a restaurant attached down a small corridor on the way to the restrooms until the last day of our stay! The Allegro is a beautiful building. Let's just start there. From its Deco exterior, the grand era of Buicks and Fords and lights and glitz and the unbounded opportunity of the Midwestern industrial powerhouse radiates from this hotel. Upon entry you are in a lovely sitting area. I assume this is really nice during the winter while you're waiting for your car. As I was there in the summer, this was not too much of an advantage.
