Having stayed in a Kimpton hotel before, we were looking forward to a weekend at the Burnham, and were not disappointed. Recently renovated, the property is beautiful throughout, the rooms tastefully decorated in contemporary style. Lobby is small but lively place, with an excellent restaurant, the Atwood Cafe. Complimentary wine is offered in the lobby each afternoon, and the availability of fruit-infused water is a nice touch. First-rate amenities and service and great location on State St. On... Stayed one night for business travel. The location is great. The room was very nice, but it was small. The service at check in and check out was very pleasant and quick. The gym is small but well equipped. I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed one night at this stunning, unique looking hotel. The main reason for staying at Hotel Burnham was due to it's close proximity to Chicago Theater where I attended an Avett Brothers concert. The service at check-in & check out was pleasant and quick. The complimentary glass of wine at check in was nice. I really liked the exposed iron railings around the elevator and up the stairwell. The room was small, but plenty of area for a solo traveler. The bed was extremely comfortable, like... Read more

From the time you step into the Burnham, everything is taken care for you. Full marks to Bill, manager of reception. As a returning guest we were immediately upgraded. The rooms are well maintained and any issue which may arise is attended to quickly. Location is amazing on the corner of West Washington and State. It's our home away from home.

From the original wrought iron, wood and glass decorative finishes to the friendliness of the staff to the exceptionally and tastefully restored rooms of this 1885 building, you know you have reached the standard bearer of excellence when you stay here. Food at the Atwood restaurant is exceptional. Enjoyed our first stay so much that we booked 2 more stays

In true Kimpton style, the staff gets to know you, treats you like friends and remembers you when you come back. The food at Atwood is good too! Love the yoga mats and umbrellas in room, (surprise-it's raining) ! Gym is small but with Millennium Park two blocks away - why stay indoors? Very cool hotel, location and staff.

Great service. Nice rooms with cathedral ceilings. Great attention to detail with tiled floor, great steel work throughout and the glorious facade of the building itself. A gem in the heart of the city.

Checked into Hotel Burnham yesterday, 10 June. Upon arrival, I was told I would be upgraded to a suite if I would wait 15-20 mins. I dropped my bag and got a snack nearby. After 30 mins, I was called and told the suite they had was no longer available and I would need to wait more time for m regular room. They called back 25 mins later at 3:30 to say my room was ready. They were nice and sent up popcorn and cheap white wine. By this time, I was late for my appointment. Came back around 10 pm to ... Read more

This hotel inside The Loop was once the Reliance Building, built in1891. It has a small lobby adjacent to a noisy bar and restaurant. We were travelling with a group and the restaurant was initially understaffed at breakfast until our tour leader explained we had a schedule to keep to. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable but the room was rather small. The hotel is in a great location, close to shops, Lake Michigan and the blue train line. Take your earplugs if you're a light sleeper as tr... Read more

I recently spent a weekend at this hotel and I was very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The room was nice, comfortable bed, and good lighting in the bathroom. Each day from 5:00-6:00 they had complimentary wine which was a very nice way to relax after seeing the many sights of Chicago. Tabitha and Shaun were extremely helpful during our stay. The location was close to Millennium Park and a great shopping area. We would definitely come back here again.

My wife and I stayed here for a week in May. Great location in the downtown, The hotel is an older property that has been renovated. We had a room on the 14th floor and it was well appointed with a great view of the theatre district. Room had a minibar, couch and comfortable bed. Staff at the front were super friendly. My only issue was the chamber maids - made sure I tipped them every day but found the attention to detail in cleaning the room a little to be desired. For instance, a dirty... Read more

I will start out by saying the location of this hotel is wonderful. Close to Millennium Park and the Lake Michigan shore for jogging and biking and easy access to restaurants. The hotel staff and service is also exceptional--very friendly, helpful and professional. This hotel loses scores for me due to the small room size with creaky doors, poor lighting in the room, really LOUD air conditioning/fan that kept me up all night, the small bathroom with no counter space, housecleaning that was too l... Spent a Friday night here celebrating my birthday. The staff kindly sent a bottle of wine to the room. The hotel restaurant, Atwood Cafe, is worth a visit on its own merits. The room was comfortable enough and clean, though the bathtub was chipped. A great location within walking distance of Millennium Park and the Riverwalk. A bit longer walk to the Michigan Ave shops and the Art Institute. Wish I had known they accept pets -- I might have brought my pooch! Join their frequent traveler pro... Read more

I stay here at least once a year on business. I am going to talk about this hotel as if it is a high end hotel like: 4 seasons, Hyatt, etc. if it were a holiday inn I would not be so "picky", but to be honest, when you pay for service, you should expect it. The rooms: lovely as always! Large, clean, spacious, quiet, comfy bed. Common areas are comfortable and very clean! They still get an "A" here. Service: Valet not readily available for the car and the front desk seemed confused about ... Read more

The Burnham Hotel is a great place right in Chicago's theater district. I think it is just right - small enough for a quiet get-away from the bustle, but classy with all the perks of a larger hotel. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. Friendly, helpful staff greet you at the entrance. The Atwood Cafe in the hotel is a great restaurant with outdoor seating and a delicious menu. You can enjoy complementary wine in the lobby from 5-6 each evening. The hotel is an easy walk to the river, lake an... Read more

My daughter and I booked a last minute overnight at the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the old-fashioned flair of the hotel... loved how the remodel kept many of the features of the building... marble stairs, ironwork, office doors. We could see a sliver of the lake from our room. Location was key, close to public transportation and easy walk to Millenium Park. Staff was helpful in suggesting restaurants and directions. Next time we stay here we will take advantage of the loaner bikes!

My wife and I just finished a trip to Chicago and stayed at the most amazing hotel in Chicago -the Kimpton Burnham Hotel. It is hard to know where to start with the superlatives. The location is great. A couple blocks from the Art Institute, Millenium Park, the theater district and a nice walk to the Magnificent Mile. Every morning they offer coffee and tea complimentary to guests. On some warm days, they offer Iced Coffee with fun add in syrups. Every night they have a free wine hour for guests. My wife and I spent 3 nights the last weekend of June in this wonderful hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago. We had stayed here years ago before it became part of the Kimpton group and it has become even better. We had a nice room on the 7th floor looking east over the lake, Millenium Park and State Street. Everything is good about this hotel! Location is close to what is important to us, 5 minutes to Millinium Park and another 10 to the Art Institute! The hotel itself is housed in an architectural jewel that was brought back to life as an elegant boutique hotel. The architectural features are enough to make one want to spend time exploring the building itself! We were in Room 704, a sort of mini suite with lots of windows and great views. The Burnham is in the Reliance building, built in 1890 and named for it's Architect, Daniel Burnham. the hotel has been meticulously restored to its former grandeur. some floors have been designated "historic" and still have the frosted glass lights in the doors. The Atwood cafe, downstairs is also worth a look.
