Having stayed in a Kimpton hotel before, we were looking forward to a weekend at the Burnham, and were not disappointed. Recently renovated, the property is beautiful throughout, the rooms tastefully decorated in contemporary style. Lobby is small but lively place, with an excellent restaurant, the Atwood Cafe. Complimentary wine is offered in the lobby each afternoon, and the availability of fruit-infused water is a nice touch. First-rate amenities and service and great location on State St. On... I stayed one night at this stunning, unique looking hotel. The main reason for staying at Hotel Burnham was due to it's close proximity to Chicago Theater where I attended an Avett Brothers concert. The service at check-in & check out was pleasant and quick. The complimentary glass of wine at check in was nice. I really liked the exposed iron railings around the elevator and up the stairwell. The room was small, but plenty of area for a solo traveler. The bed was extremely comfortable, like... Read more

Food at the Atwood restaurant is exceptional. Enjoyed our first stay so much that we booked 2 more stays

In true Kimpton style, the staff gets to know you, treats you like friends and remembers you when you come back. The food at Atwood is good too! Love the yoga mats and umbrellas in room, (surprise-it's raining) ! Gym is small but with Millennium Park two blocks away - why stay indoors? Very cool hotel, location and staff.

Checked into Hotel Burnham yesterday, 10 June. Upon arrival, I was told I would be upgraded to a suite if I would wait 15-20 mins. I dropped my bag and got a snack nearby. After 30 mins, I was called and told the suite they had was no longer available and I would need to wait more time for m regular room. They called back 25 mins later at 3:30 to say my room was ready. They were nice and sent up popcorn and cheap white wine. By this time, I was late for my appointment. Came back around 10 pm to ... Read more

This hotel inside The Loop was once the Reliance Building, built in1891. It has a small lobby adjacent to a noisy bar and restaurant. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable but the room was rather small. The hotel is in a great location, close to shops, Lake Michigan and the blue train line. I recently spent a weekend at this hotel and I was very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The room was nice, comfortable bed, and good lighting in the bathroom. Each day from 5:00-6:00 they had complimentary wine which was a very nice way to relax after seeing the many sights of Chicago. Tabitha and Shaun were extremely helpful during our stay. The location was close to Millennium Park and a great shopping area. We would definitely come back here again.

I am going to talk about this hotel as if it is a high end hotel like: 4 seasons, Hyatt, etc. if it were a holiday inn I would not be so "picky", but to be honest, when you pay for service, you should expect it. We were pleasantly surprised by the old-fashioned flair of the hotel... loved how the remodel kept many of the features of the building... marble stairs, ironwork, office doors. We could see a sliver of the lake from our room. Location was key, close to public transportation and easy walk to Millenium Park. Staff was helpful in suggesting restaurants and directions. I last stayed here in November 2016. What a difference - and not in a good way - this time. First of all, I asked the hotel to set up a car service from the airport. The Kimpton is a historic hotel designed of course by Daniel Burnham, the same architect as the NYC Flatiron building.
