This was my first stay at the Intercontinental, and I wasn't disappointed. Right in Chicago's Magnificent Mile, it is conveniently located. Great dining within walking distance, and Michael Jordan's Steak House is right off of the main lobby. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, the rooms clean, and as expected in a top-notch hotel. Parking is relatively expensive as compared to most other cities, but that is downtown Chicago and not much can be done about.

Great greeting after a long day of travel. The room had a cool view of Michigan Ave. The decor was super modern and most importantly clean and fresh. Lots of power outlets and usb charger oitletd at the desk. I may be spoiled with elevators in Vegas but it did seem like I had to wait forever both up and down each time. We came to stay for a total of 8 days . Nice rooms, an in-house Starbucks, and ideal location right in the heart of the Windy City. Would give this five stars, were it not for the robotic staff members at reception, most of whom were better machines than humans. Teach them a thing or ten about the human services industry, please, management! Such a sad fact to have to mention in an otherwise great experience. The location on Michigan Avenue puts you in the middle of everything but the experience could be so much better with even a few small fixes. The shelf in the bathroom was a narrow 3 inches making it almost useless. A woman with a flat iron has to balance it on the shelf and hope it or the cord don't go in the sink during use. There is no mirror over the desk and no option on where to get ready. There were 8 pillows in the room, each as hard and headache inducing as the last. One side of the c... Read more

Intercontinental was one of the hotels blocked for the wedding. I booked two rooms for family and was pleasantly surprised that they placed in adjoining rooms! I had a king room to myself and it was ample space. Had a nice view and and a couch to visit on. The room service was timely. The one thing that I want to really say is that this is the first time I spent so much time with my concierge since I lost my phone in a taxi. Really nice rooms, comfortable beds, shower was AMAZING. For small rooms and an older hotel it was nice to have so many outlets. Design of the rooms and lobby was nice. Didn't get to try the restaurant downstairs but it looked great. Location was conveniently walking distance from all River North shopping, bars and restaurants.

This hotel offers a great location to everything on Michigan Ave. The lobby is small, but the service is great. The rooms are on the small side, but clean. What makes this hotel special is the pool! It's an historic pool with a beautiful sitting area.

The Intercontinental is a traditional upscale hotel. The staff were lovely, and the room was very clean. I do like to have a fridge in the room that doest't set alarms off, so we purchased a collapsible cooler for our own use. The location was terrific and the gym had plenty of equipment. The pool was also lovely.

My husband and I stayed at the InterContinental last week for 4 nights. We took the blue line on "L" train($5 each) from Ohare and a cheap $6 cab ride from the train station(Clark/Lake) to the hotel. We arrived late in the evening and was greeted nicely by Hassan who gave us great customer service. I joined the IHG Rewards Club to get free Wi-Fi, which was great. This great older historic hotel has been nicely updated and is something to see. The location is fantastic...just next to the Tribune Tower, close to Wrigley Tower and to the river. Super easy walking access to tons of great restaurants. Also an easy walk to the theatre area. All in all - a great experience. The parking is (predictably for downtown) quite pricey, so consider the lot across the street if you don't need in & out privileges. We really enjoyed our stay.

I arrived late (around 11 PM) and found that it was very difficult to get anyone from the front desk on the phone - I was on hold for 4 minutes. I'm here for a business conference. Our exhibits were crammed together in a meeting room, but we made it work. After long days in meetings this location was a great starting point for long evening walks around this lovely and safe city. My room was big enough and extremely quiet. The hotel has an interesting decor, the only place I can think of to compare it to is Caesars Palace with that Romanesque look to it. I would stay here again for the great location. Try it!

Maybe it was because we had window all around the room but the air was set on 66 but it only registered 72. After maintenance came in it was better but never 60's . Bed was comfortable and room spacious. Nice to have a separate bath and shower but they are in desperate need of towel racks if you want to take part in their water conservation efforts. Ideal location for wondering around and sight seeing. I did plenty of that. Great food and the hotel had plenty of history and the art deco atmosphere is astounding, just a great building inside. I stayed for 3 nights for business. The beds are fantastic!!! Same for the pillows. The location is GREAT. I didn't see it, but am told the pool is amazing! Has Michael Jordan's steakhouse and an upscale wine bar + Starbucks. Room service is outrageously expensive, like any hotel, and I was not at all impressed with the grilled cheese tomato soup combo. I also had to pay a $50 per night upgrade charge to get a room before 3:00 and the charged that $50 for ALL 3 days.

We stayed at the Intercontinental for 2 nights last weekend (July 2016) to attend a wedding there. It is in a great location with access to much of what Chicago has to offer. The old portion of the hotel is beautiful architecturally. It is a fine place to hold a wedding, with excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - beginning with finding out we had received an upgrade to an amazing suite. The suite was beautifully appointed and we had a wonderful time exploring the magnificent rooms! The view was amazing too. We were thrilled to be able to enjoy such a lovely room. The Intercontinental is a full service hotel right in the heart of MIchigan Ave, near the Tribune Building. There is everything you would expect from a top tier hotel including valet, concierge, shoe shine, great restaurant (Michael Jordan Steakhouse), wine bar, pool, fitness center etc. The service was polite, efficient and non-intrusive-exactly as it should be. The room was large and well appointed, the bed and linens comfortable, the bathroom updated and very clean. This is an old school big ... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for a full week on business. It's perfectly situated for business or leisure, right on the main upmarket shopping street with most of the major attractions (Institute of Art, Cloud Gate, Millennium Park, Hancock building, Lake Michigan and Navy Pier) within easy walking distance so it was easy to see a lot of the city in my limited free time. The hotel comprises two towers, one historic and the other more modern. I stayed in the modern tower on a fairly high floor and my r... Read more

We visited Chicago for a Fall Break trip with our two daughters, ages 3 and 6. We wanted to stay within walking distance of most attractions and were fortunate to get the Intercontinental Hotel on Hotwire. Wow, it was absolutely incredible! We discovered that the hotel has a self park garage with a valet. We booked it on our way into town on the SpotHero app and got two days of parking for the price of one day, when valeting up at the front door. The entrance was off of lower Michigan Avenue and... We stayed October 23, 2016. When I walked through the door at this hotel I was expecting to have to wait in line to check-in at the desk. The sweetest lady named Paula told me that I did not need to wait in line and that she could assist me. After she saw that I was a member with IHG she asked if being upgraded to a double bed suite in the executive tower would be an inconvenience. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD SAY NO? There are so many things to do in Chicago. I walked along the River Front, then over to Navy Pier, before swinging into a large Whole Foods. The next day I walked down the Millennium Monument and hangout around outside while the NFL draft was going on. I don't even have time to go north to the Water Tower. Inside, there is a pool with a very old style viewing area nearby, and a cramped workout room.
