My2nd time staying here. It's a little tricky to find the registration desk....when you walk in on the first floor , proceed to the left to get to the elevators and go up to the fifteenth floor to register. After that you're home free. Prices are reasonable, for Chicago. My room was on the 21st floor and I had good views of downtown and the river. Within walking distance to restaurants, Miracle Mile, etc. The breakfast buffet was fresh and had a lot of variety.

This is an upscale hotel for a Holiday Inn, its on the 15th floor of the Chicago Sun Times Building and goes to the 22nd floor. Check in was fast and efficient. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are new, clean and a good size. The view of the outside rooms are awesome. Make sure you ask for an outside room as there are inside rooms. The bar and the store are a little pricey, but the have you so you pay for the convenience. There is a CVS less then a block away with cheap prices. The ... Read more

I booked this hotel for a long weekend trip with friends. The hotel surpassed all our expectations...it is much nicer than any Holiday Inn I've stayed in before in the US. It is well located with many thing to do/see in walking distance or a very short cab ride away. The rooms were standard size hotel rooms with a modern, contemporary feel. Fantastic spacious room with awesome view. Terrific front desk and housekeeping and overall staff friendliness. Easy and delightful walks nearby along the riverfronts and just a few blocks to dozens and dozens of widely varied restaurant offerings at all price points and all cuisines, which became VERY important because: the only downside to an otherwise wonderful stay was the food and beverage service, which after three attempts I would have to lay on the Food & Beverage director. Perhaps I was expecting too much but I thought that since this hotel was attached to the Merchandise Mart that there would be some style and personality in the place. Sad to say that is definitely not the case. Blah beige (with a few touches of greenery) best sums up the decor of the public spaces. The guest rooms are basic, modern with few amenities- no microwave, mini frig or even a coffee pot. Front desk staff was efficient and personable. The gentleman that tried to help us was not helpful! Seemed rude. Felt like he was trying to sell getting cabs instead of using transit system. Told us the river walk was not walkable. Put down going to Lincoln Park. Sold us on a river cruise that was not good! We ended up just finding things to do by ourselves. Lovely river walk, Lincoln Park Zoo was free and enjoyable, transit system very good. I wish I knew this guys name because he was not good.

As a grandmother treating her daughter and grandson to a stay in Chicago in conjunction with the daughter having business there, I was disappointed in the room offered to us as a handicapped double. No microwave, no refrigerator, and the only cafe was repetitive for food if you are staying for more than a day. No real restaurant offering in a hotel so close to the magnificent mile. We were very surprised by this. However, the staff was courteous and helpful. The room was clean.

Desk clerks, management and concierge were very nice and helpful (unless you had a group gathering with playful kids). Rooms were clean and comfortable. Huge meeting and conference rooms in "basement" or lowest floor. (The main lobby starts on 15th floor I believe). Pool was cold as far as the kids were telling us. Room was clean and comfortable and I couldn't hear my neighbors TOO well. The meh: this place is a maze. Good luck trying to figure out which elevator to take or where the entrance to the hotel even is. There's one elevator that takes at least 5 minutes to pick you up. Don't take that one. They also need one more TV in the sitting area.

My only concern was the room was too cold. Even after maintenance was notified (he responded in a timely manner), and it was fixed, I felt a constant chill. Otherwise it was okay. The location was excellent since I conducted business in the same area and restaurants were close by. The doorman was the BEST!

This Holiday Inn was located in a fantastic location where you can get anywhere in Downtown Chicago easily. The hotel staff treated us over and above what they had to- and were available for every question immediately. We are platinum members and could be happier with our corner suite room (free upgrade). It was the best city room view we have ever stayed in! We will be back for that room!!

I stayed here at 3 occasions. Love this place. Good ambience! Remember to buy water from outside as its bit expensive inside to buy. The rooms are clean and large. The river view is as awesome view. Worth the money!

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza last week. What a pleasant surprise. The entire staff from the front desk, house keeping, in room dining, and the lobby bar are top notch and incredibly friendly. The rooms are super comfortable. Mine had a fabulous view of the river and the Chicago skyline. Since the hotel is connected to the Merch Mart, there are a ton of dining options available all without having to go outside. There is also a train station within a very short walking distan... Read more

Good hotel, great views and an interior atrium that I recognised from many movies and tv shows - you will too. It's all a little aged but really it's a good place to stay. Nice bar, ok restaurant, pool, lots of open space. Go for it.

My daughter and I both had to visit Chicago for business, so we chose the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza because it was a convenient location for both our seperate destinations and because of the indoor pool, which is the only form of exercise I enjoy. While we encountered so many wonderful employees, from the waitstaff at the restaurant to the extremely friendly bell staff, the old adage is right- the first impression is the most important! Having said that, Gwen at the front desk, at check in, made u... Read more

The Holiday Inn at Mart Plaza is a great option if you want to get a Chicago River view without paying upscale luxury hotel prices. It's situated a little off the main thoroughfare of Michigan Avenue but still easily accessible to the heart of Chicago. The hotel lobby is nice, featuring the CityScape bar which offers the same river view. Check in process was smooth. Our room was nicely renovated with more modern decor and dark carpeting. Some holiday inn properties can be a bit dated but thi... Read more

Found bed bugs in room. Moved us to second room. Gave us free breakfast and told us they would take care of parking in there hotel parking. Car broken into in their garage and daughters Christmas presents stolen. Then they said we aren't responsible not their garage. Please be aware. No security and people can walk right in. We will never stay at a holiday inn again.

We felt as if we were "VIP guests" for the entire time we were here. It was an absolute treat to stay at this hotel. From check in with Angie (and her manager) that went over and above to accommodate us, to housekeeping, the maintenance man and even the door man who suggested bundling up before heading out. I mean everyone was nice! Whoever is hiring is doing a great job and the people on staff should be recognized for their warm, friendly and heartfelt caring about their guests. Thank you!! Our... The staff were beyond friendly and helpful. They assisted in getting us coupons for the hancock and helped set up our river tour as well as the hop on hop off bus. The room was great with beautiful views of the river below. The pool was lovely. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Thanks and we will be back!

Pros: - Comfortable bed and pillow. - Clean room. - Polite staff. - Fast internet in the room. - Stored luggage service with the concierge if checking in when the room isn't ready or checking out earlier than the departure time. - Lots of food options. The hotel also has an indoor walkway to the Merchandise Mart, which has a food court and several chain fast foods. Cons: - The hotel either has a thin wall or the guests in the next room was too noisy. Or it could have also been because of the co... Read more

Very welcoming staff and a wonderful location right on the river. The only down side could be the sound of the trains going by but they are well muted by the windows and walls. The restaurant is awesome and the even had a Thanksgiving buffet. If you feel like roaming the area it is walking distance from the Magnificent Mile and other convenient locales for whatever your whim may be.
